FAQ
You have questions, I have answers. Here’s some of the most frequently asked questions about the show and the Recap site.
Q: What’s with the bouncing numbers on the scales?
A: The scales we see on TV are actually fake. All contestants are weighed in before entering “the weigh-in room,” their weights recorded, but not revealed to them immediately. The fluctuating number on the big screen in the weigh-in room is purely for added TV drama, as people watch the number wobble around between various numbers.
Q: Why do some contestant reactions occasionally seem faked or scripted?
A: Unsure, but this is likely due to occasionally having to reshoot various sections for whatever reason. Generally, only the host has an actual script to follow.
Q: How long are they at Camp Biggest Loser?
A: For the “Transformed” series the stated length of time is 8 weeks, per the advertisements.
Q: What happens when a vote for elimination is tied?
A: Tied votes are rare but not unheard of on The Biggest Loser. In the event of a tie, the person or team with the lowest percentage of weightloss is sent home.
Q: Who are you?
A: Mythor! You might know me from such sites as Player Attack, where I write about video games under my real name, Matthew Sharpe. I also have a semi-regular blog at www.mythor.net/blog. My regular Twitter handle is @mythor. Other than that, I’m just a fan of The Biggest Loser. What else do you need to know? :-)
Q: Are you a dude or a lady?
A: I have no idea why this comes up so often, it’s very peculiar to me. But it does, and so here’s the answer: I’m a dude.
Q: How can I contact you directly?
A: There’s a link in the sidebar to retrieve my email address, or you can click here.
Q: Is there a way to know when you’ve made a new recap post, other than refreshing the front page constantly and sucking up all your bandwidth?
A: There are two ways to do this.
Firstly, there is an RSS Feed linked from the top of the page. Use that in your favourite RSS Reader and it ought to update you when there’s a new post.
Each new post also appears in my Twitter feed. You could follow me, maybe?
