Shane Edwards

Name: Shane Edwards
Age: 38
Height: 187cm
Lives: Adelaide
Status: Single, was once engaged
Occupation: Forklift operator
Shane has strong family values. He is single but has a young son who suffers from autism and means everything to Shane. He would love to be able to spend more time with him and be there to watch him grow up.

Shane comes from a morbidly obese family. His sister died from obesity at 32 from a heart attack. His mother is morbidly obese and has only left the house once in the last two years. He is very close with his parents and wants to inspire them to lose weight.

Shane doesn’t want to follow in his sister’s footsteps and die at a young age and leave his son without a dad. Also having love enter his life in the future is something he would like to have happen once he loses the weight. Shane would like to sky dive one day.

Shane looks forward to gaining confidence within himself and learning how to lead a healthy lifestyle, he knows he will have to quit 25-30 cigarettes a day for starters! He is preparing himself for the journey by taking it one step at a time.

Shane sees Bob Herdsman as an inspiration; Bob was the oldest contestant in Australia from The Biggest Loser and winner of season four. He feels that Bob showed Australia that anyone can take on the challenge and get their lives back, this is the example that Shane would like to lead.

My reason for applying for The Biggest Loser:
To spent more time with my son, watch him grow up and inspire family and friends.
I first realised I was overweight and need help when:
When I saw myself getting up out of a low seat.
I hope to lose weight but gain:
Confidence.
A past contestant I’ve found inspiring is:
Eric from the American Biggest Loser because he never gave up. Bob, because he showed that anyone can do this and get their life back.
The best part of being on The Biggest Loser is:
I don’t know yet.
I am preparing myself for this journey by:
Taking it one day at a time.
I think the most difficult part of being on The Biggest Loser will be:
Not embarrassing my family.
Some bad habits I would like to get rid of are:
Smoking.
The one thing I want Australia to know about me is:
I’m not as scary as I look.
I think I will win The Biggest Loser because:
I won’t step on others to get the prize.
One thing I have never done because I was overweight I will do once I lose the weight is:
Jump from an aeroplane – with a parachute of course.
