Jodie Moon

Height: 177.8cm
Marital status: Married
Children: Kurtis (12), Jordan (9)
Occupation: Teacher

For married mother of two Jodie, being overweight is something that crept up on her, as she’s unable to pinpoint a moment when it all started to go wrong.

So embarrassed is Jodie about her eating habits that as a teacher she tries her best to hide what she eats from pupils and staff alike. While the weight doesn’t directly compromise her regular teaching duties, it does make her duties as a dance instructor difficult, forcing her to recruit someone to actually perform the moves as she no longer feels confident doing them herself.

Paralysed with fear about her figure, Jodie would like emerge from her Biggest Loser journey able to wear a bikini with pride, have the figure to take to the slopes on the family’s annual skiing trip, and be able to walk into a room with her head held high.

How are you related to your teammates?
Kellie is my sister, Rebecca and Sarah are my cousins.
What is your favourite food?
Seafood, chocolate (before entering The Biggest Loser house)
What are your hobbies?
Dancing – hip hop.
Where would you like to travel most?
Europe, Hawaii, Vietnam.
What is your dream job?
Solicitor, though I may look into personal training after this show.
What’s your idea of a good night out?
Go out for dinner without the kids (sorry kids), see a movie, have a dance at a nightclub and one or two drinks. Jonah’s restaurant at Whale Beach is my dream restaurant.
What made you decide to go on The Biggest Loser?
Kellie and I applied two years ago and just missed out – we made it to the last round – so we decided to apply again. We need to change our lives.
What is your ultimate Biggest Loser goal?
To wear a size 10-12 gorgeous tight, bright, glamorous dress at finale. To feel confident in a bikini. To walk out of The Biggest Loser house and never look back at my old self.
What is your favourite TV snack?
Ice cream and chocolate but not anymore. For me, it’s passionfruit yogurt.
What are your biggest fears about the competition?
Being eliminated too early; I get anxious about the challenges as we are an all-girl team. I hate the scales but so far they’ve been my best friend.
Who is your favourite ex-contestant? Why?
My favourites are Tiffany and Lisa – both mums like me. Lisa also had an injury like me, and never gave up.
What will you miss most while in the house?
My husband and my children, without a doubt. My friends, family and my mobile phone. I’ve had a few quiet tears to myself missing everyone, but I’m getting stronger each and every day.
