TBL 11×19 – This is supposed to be Makeover Week but the ads LIED!
Previously on The Biggest Loser Transformed we saw all the eliminated contestants return for the traditional second chance. With two spots up for grabs it was Josh and Sophia who managed to win their way back in.
Today, feisty weigh-in! Immunity challenge fallout, then three favourites will battle it out in the elimination arena. Will Blue finally lose another person or will Orange continue their losing streak?
Last chance training! Libby’s excited to be training Sophia and Josh again for the first time. Lisa-Faye (not a real name) says it’s good to see Sophia come back with a fire in her belly.
Sophia says she’s got so much more weight to lose but there’s not enough time to do it at home so she’s got to do it there. She’s been fat, in her eyes, for over 10 years, so she’s got to work hard.
Libby was a little worried Sophia might still be angry after her elimination, but they’re all good now Sophia says. Stronger team than ever. We’ll see, I guess. They do have a slight advantage with two returning contestants who’ll probably do good numbers?
Brett’s got immunity for Team Blue, Shannan calls the challenge that got it for Brett the “Peer Pressure Challenge”. Simmo’s nervous about not having immunity now, he’s worried he might have made the wrong choice. Matt’s also worried because Brett’s got immunity, which suits him. He’s second guessing his decision to throw Simon under the bus.
No other advantages in the weigh-in, Shannan reminds them. The rest of the team’s got to put as hard as possible. Josh and Sophia will want to stay, they want what Blue’s got.
Shannan’s got the team doing strength training today. Good test of progress is a dead lift, tests lots of your muscles all at once. Shannan tells us that heavy lifting doesn’t build big, bulky muscles, just your healthy muscle mass and metabolism.
Amy manages a lift of indeterminate weight, Matt does 100kg, then Brett does 130kg. Simmo ups it a bit more, 135kg and manages to lift that.
Lynton says his personal best before starting the competition was 0! Lynton’s starting to get some self belief and he manages 135kg as well. Not the best technique, Shannan says, but guts and determination triumphed.
Simon’s feeling a bit anxious this week. He doesn’t always lose a lot in weigh-ins and two people have immunity, so he can’t slack off at all.
Josh knows he didn’t use his last chance to maximum advantage so he’s bringing everything he’s got this time. Josh’s rib is actually only about 80% healed, he says.
Last chance training isn’t over yet. Longest one they’ve shown yet, maybe? Blue’s on the treadmills after their lifting and such.
Amy was afraid of getting on and off a moving treadmill at the start, then she smashed it in a challenge. She thinks she can do 16.5km/h now. Shannan’s worried about her, he’s not actually sure she can do that. But she does her 30 second interval, not easily but she gets it done.
Matt’s the runner in their team, surprisingly. Shannan’s challenging him to do the 20km/h setting, that’s as fast as the machine can go. Matt’s getting some doubts in his head, thinks he might pass out.
After an ad break Matt does, of course, manage to do 20km/h. Cool! He’s really excited to have done that. Shannan wants him to start thinking he’s amazing!
Time for the weigh-in. Everyone’s nervous, as you might expect. Fiona’s in a black outfit, has sparkly bits. Cool!
Fiona asks Brett about the end of the challenge, with Simmo throwing the contest. Nikki was angry because she felt like Simmo had thrown it in her face, he’s been worried she might end up going home as a result.
Lots of regrets all round. Simon says he ended up in the water quite quickly and Matt confirms that strategy came into that decision.
Lisa-Faye (not a real name) has immunity and will weigh in first.
Lisa-Faye (not a real name) Previous Weight: 91.3kg
Current: 88.7kg
Loss: 2.6kg
Pretty good loss, especially in a week where she could have gone a bit easier, or loaded a bit of water!
Sophia Previous Weight: 93.4kg
Current: 90.8kg
Loss: 2.6kg
Not a big surprise as she just came back from being away from the competition. She’s happy she’s nearly in the 80s, she loves the music and the fashion of the 80s!
Josh Previous Weight: 127.6kg
Current: 123.9kg
Loss: 3.7kg
Again, just came back, not that surprising. Good result for him though, so he’s pleased he’s done so well with his second chance.
Nikki Previous Weight: 70.5kg
Current: 68.2kg
Loss: 2.3kg
Big loss for Nikki! She’s also stoked to be under 70kg at last. She might even be close to biggest loser with that, since she’s the lightest by far!
Simon Previous Weight: 96.8kg
Current: 92.9kg
Loss: 3.9kg
Oof, good loss for Simon! His team is STOKED, too.
Orange Team Total: 15.1kg
Percentage: 3.15%
That’s… a lot. That’s probably more than Blue can realistically manage.
Matt Previous Weight: 105.4kg
Current: 102.9kg
Loss: 2.5kg
Pretty good. Probably needed more to keep the team safe? But he’s happy with that.
Lynton Previous Weight: 109.9kg
Current: 106.2kg
Loss: 3.7kg
Shannan’s super excited for him. Nikki calls out that you can see the changes now, especially in the face.
Amy Previous Weight: 94.4kg
Current: 90.8kg
Loss: 3.6kg
Smashed it! Happy tears! Everyone’s clearly stoked for her. She had a big week, she says, and she’s glad it’s shown on the scales.
Brett Previous Weight: 102.3kg
Current: 100.4kg
Loss: 1.9kg
He was shooting for under 100kg this week, so he’s a little disappointed. And looking at the results of the rest of the team, he’s probably not done enough. Good thing he has immunity, huh?
Simmo Previous Weight: 113.3kg
Current: 110.8kg
Loss: 2.5kg
That might not be enough… He’s a bit disappointed, too. Smallest loss for him in the competition and he knows he’ll be below the yellow line. Regretting giving immunity to Brett!
Blue Team Total: 14.2kg
Percentage: 2.70%
Team Orange finally won another weigh-in! They had a huge advantage with two returnees, but still!
Blue Individual Percentages:
Amy: 3.81%
Lynton: 3.37%
Matt: 2.37%
Simmo: 2.21%
Brett: 1.86%
Since Brett has immunity he can’t be below the yellow line, meaning Lynton gets pushed below the line despite being an entire percent clear of Matt. But Amy’s safe by claiming biggest loser for her team, well done!
Lynton v Simmo v Matt.
Ultimate challenge today, Fiona says.
First time in the arena for Lynton and he’s facing two strong guys. Matt’s gone through his ups and downs but he’s aiming for top six now, he feels like he deserves it at last.
Two rounds again this week. The first round involves a massive deck of cards put up on the wall. Turn one card over at a time. The suit of the card represents a specific exercise. Hearts are situps, spades are star jumps, diamonds are ball slams and clubs are box squats.
The number on the card is the number of reps you have to perform. Face cards are worth 15. Each deck has a Joker, which you can give to another contestant and they have to do 20 burpees.
First contestant to finish all their exercises will be safe. Other two face round two!
There’s a lot of cards on the wall, this could take a while.
All three of the boys are doing the same exercises at the same time bu picking the same cards in sequence. Weird!
Matt’s falling a little bit behind the other two boys and surprisingly it’s Lynton in the lead. Most thought Simmo would be in the lead. “Go Lynt-balls!” That’s an interesting nickname!
Lynton’s also the first to find his Joker and stacks it on Simmo, of course. While Simmo’s still cracking through his set of burpees, Matt finds his Joker and puts it on Simmo too.
Simmo’s finally got the chance to turn his Joker over and initially thinks of putting it on Lynton, but he can tell he’s not going to catch up to Lynton and the peanut gallery suggest Matt might be a better target. Tire him out a bit for the second round. Poor Matt!
Lynton’s steaming ahead of the other boys now and is almost done. Simmo gives him a big hug after Lynton finishes. It’s a competition but they’re still mates.
Brett’s really worried now that Simmo might actually go home, he’d never forgive himself if that happened.
Simmo and Matt both threw immunity away though, and now it’s come back to bite them.
Second round, complete four reps of three different exercises in one minute. Four box jumps, four thrusters, four burpees. After a minute, a beep will sound and you’ll have to do it all again. First person not to get their reps done in a minute is out of the competition.
Simmo’s already exhausted from the extra 20 burpees he’s done over Matt’s exercises in the first round.
Shannan says he’s going to be devastated regardless of which one goes home.
While Matt’s struggling through a set of burpees and Simmo’s finished, Simmo is catching his breath and encouraging Matt to keep going. Good bloke!
Round six and Simmo’s finished ahead of Matt again, so he’s having a sit on his box and encouraging Matt. But it’s not to be, Matt’s too tired from the earlier exertions and falls one short. He’s clearly knackered, can’t even get up off the ground for a bit.
Matt says Shannan’s changed his life, shown him so much. And he’s had a great experience with everyone and he thanks them for accepting him. Matt says thankyou to the boys, there’s been times the only place he felt comfortable was in a room with them.
Three words to describe the Matt that’s walking out today? Tough, resilient and loyal. Shannan says it almost makes him want to cry! Matt really feels it now, instead of just saying it. Shannan’s changed his life, given him a lot of confidence.
Matt’s earned Shannan’s respect and Shannan even says he’s a “ripper bloke”! Aww!
Tomorrow, Blue v Orange. PIGS. IN. MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!
(And the losing team has to send someone home.)
