TBL 11×18 – Returning contestants, a swim in the harbour and SURPRISE GUESTS!

Previously on The Biggest Loser Transformed the eliminated contestants returned to compete for a chance to get back into the competition.

We saw Josh make his return in the first round and then watched most of the second round but didn’t see the result. Because they fell back into old habits of dragging shit out unnecessarily!

Today! Will it be Luke, Jake, Sophia or Anna who survives the second round? They’d been holding weights up for a really long time so there’s probably not much longer they can hold it…

Also today, a new challenge kicks off, involving some kind of rope and fall into the harbour thing. Find out later!

First, everyone’s holding their weight still. They’re at the 40 minute mark, which is quite impressive. If you’ve ever tried to hold anything out at arm’s length for any length of time, it starts to burn!

Sophia says she’s getting cramps in her arms and neck. Luke’s getting the shakes and he’s in pain. He doesn’t want to be first to drop. Three of them are moving around a bit but Anna’s just standing still as a statue. Not sure which tactic is going to pay off.

The boys are also carrying 2kg to the women’s 1kg.

Finally, Luke’s out! Amy’s devastated. Aww. He did hold it for 49 minutes though, probably more than the producers were expecting to have this thing running?

Sophia tries to change her grip on her dumbbell to try and use different muscle groups to provide some relief. Fiona asks Anna how she’s dealing with it and Anna says she’s just trying to ignore it.

Jake’s concentration lapses for half a second and Jake’s out, too! Hope he doesn’t punch the wall again. They’re not going to need the set again but maybe someone else could use it?

At the hour mark Sophia and Anna are both still hanging in there. Everyone’s amazed at their determination. Should burn some calories off, too!

Sophia asks Fiona at one point how long now… An hour and twenty minutes! Sophia’s started getting chatty, saying she’s got to do this for her kids, for herself. Anna’s getting put off a bit, she’s trying to stay zen and in the moment.

Ninety minutes! Fiona ups the stakes, straight arms, no more adjusting your grip. Probably should have made that the rules from the start, silly buggers!

The girls are both struggling a lot more straight away, both of them start dropping the weight closer and closer to the tape. Anna’s just about to crack… ad break!

We’re fifteen minutes in and we’re still waiting to find out who gets back in. Gosh.

Sophia just bent her arms, boo! Cheating!

Anna sounds like she’s giving birth, lots of grunting and groaning but then Anna finally dips her arms too low and she’s out! One hour and forty three minutes! Crikey. Anna looks devastated and doesn’t seem capable of giving Sophia a congratulatory hug. Bye everyone who’s leaving again! See you at finale if they still have the finale!

So Josh and Sophia are both back into the competition, both Team Orange. Which puts both teams back on five each. And puts us even further away from the bloody finale!

Next day Josh is telling everyone at breakfast he felt so lucky to get into the competition the first time, so getting another chance in it, he’s ready to grab it with both hands. Sophia almost wants to thank her team for voting her out because she got to go home, see her family, and realise she can be fitter and healthier.

Time for another team challenge, the first one with even teams in a while now.

There’s ledges set up hanging over the water and Nikki’s worried, she’s petrified of sharks so if she has to go in the water she’s not sure she can do it.

Today’s challenge will be in pairs. And it’ll be one Orange and one Blue per pair. The winning pair will both be immune at the next weigh-in, so it’s bloody huge. One of each pair will hold onto a rope that will support them, stopping them from falling in the water. The other half will answer questions on health and nutrition. Get a question wrong, the rope holder must move their hands down the rope.

Pairs are selected by random draw, Blue picks numbered balls, then Orange picks balls to find out their matches.

Matt tells us that if he doesn’t want immunity and the person he’s paired with is someone he doesn’t want in the competition, well…

Pair one is Nikki and Simmo. They’re good friends and Nikki’s hoping Simmo, big strong Simmo, will hang onto the rope.

Pair two is Sophia and Amy. Three is Josh and Lynton. Four is Brett and Lisa-Faye (not a real name). Five is Simon and Matt, which is bad news for Simon probably!

Holding the ropes are Simon, Brett, Lynton, Sophia and Simmo.

First question, how many teaspoons of sugar per day does the World Health Organisation recommend for children? 2, 3, 4, 5?

The answer is… 3! Everyone gets the first one correct, well done.

Which meal has the least calories? Beef nachos, hamburger, spaghetti carbonara, fried fish and chips.

Matt knows this stuff, he knows the answers, sounds like he’s going to start throwing the comp?

Everyone says spaghetti carbonara, except Matt who says hamburger. Simon’s upset, he knows the answer was carbonara. Simon also realises he’ll be going for a swim!

Which has the most fat per 100 grams? Peanuts, cashews, almonds, chestnuts?

Nobody says almonds, which is the right answer. Terrible!

Pretty much everyone knows Matt’s throwing the game to make Simon fight in the weigh-in.

Which of the following macronutrients is best for recovery after a workout? Carbohydrates, unsaturated fats, protein, fibre.

Everyone says protein, except Matt. Who says carbs. Shannan explains that you need protein to rebuild your muscles, which everyone of course knew. But he’s playing the game, of course!

Kinda wish Matt would just be straight up about it. No sense pretending.

Simon doesn’t look like he’ll survive to the next question and… nope! Into the drink! Matt checks on Simon though.

Matt’s still not sure he did the right thing, but it’s done now.

And now Josh says if Blue wants to play strategies then Lynton’s going in the drink, too. Uhoh!

Is quinoa a grain, seed, legume or pulse? A seed! Everyone’s wrong again! Everyone’s on their second knot now.

As defined by Biggest Loser psychologist Glenn, body image is more about what our body looks like, our relationship with our body or how others view our body?

Josh says C, which is very obviously wrong. Lynton has a laugh, he’s pretty sure it’s revenge for Matt throwing Simon into the harbour.

Lynton’s arms aren’t hurting so much, it’s mostly his legs and feet being at a bad angle. He doesn’t last long, Simon helps him aboard the pontoon afterwards to have a sit and relax and wait for the challenge to be over.

How many teaspoons of sugar in a 375ml can of cola? 8, 10, 12?

Amy’s trying to get immunity for her and Sophia, not throwing the game. But she’s answered wrong. The answer is 10 teaspoons, not 12 like everyone guessed.

Third knot for everyone. No more questions, just endurance. Sophia’s arms are still wrecked from the dumbbell challenge, but she’s desperate to beat the boys to win immunity.

Sophia’s freaking out while both boys, Simmo and Brett are still holding strong. Sophia falls in not longer after, no more immunity for Sophia and Amy!

So now it’s down to Nikki and Simmo versus Lisa-Faye (not a real name) and Brett.

Brett calls out to Simmo that he’s probably got the weigh-in in the bag anyway, just give him immunity. But Simmo’s not sure! And Nikki’s hoping he won’t give up, because she might need the immunity.

Simmo had promised Nikki he’d give it everything, but he wants to give it to Brett. “I love you brother!” Simmo drops in and Brett’s ecstatic. Brett ends up jumping in with a great deal of exuberance.

Nikki’s preeeetty annoyed at Simmo now. Just lose the weight again, Nikki!

After the challenge everyone is hanging out in the backyard shooting some hoops. They don’t get a lot of down time so it’s fun to just hang out for a bit.

Then Simmo calls out to Brett to look and Brett looks and sees… cake?

Probably his kid. He runs off camera with a shocked look on his face but it’s another ad break. So many ad breaks.

Yes, it’s tiny kidlets! Many hugs and squeaks!

Everyone else is looking on and awwing. The tiny boy kidlet runs off towards the others but changes his mind and runs back to his Daddy. And now Nikki’s bawling and she’s wondering if her munchkin is coming too.

Amy’s giving her hugs and telling her to breathe and then Lilly wanders in, looking a bit confused. Probably doesn’t recognise her new skinnier Mummy!

Simmo says he’s got a lot of respect for the parents in the competition, knowing it’s harder for them. Sophia’s getting a bit weepy, she saw her kids not long ago but it’s still a bit sad. Matt offers her a hug, but it’s not needed because her kids are there too. And looking super embarassed of their Mum.

Simon’s kids are there too! Aww! More hugs. Simon’s little girl had only been walking for a few weeks when he left.

Lisa-Faye (not a real name) has a tiny man too. Tiny man with a cool hat! More hugs and tears!

Matt doesn’t have kids, one assumes. So who’s going to turn up for him?

Josh’s kids finally turn up, too. They’re quite a bit older than a lot of the other munchkins so they shoot some hoops with their Dad. Aww!

Amy’s bestie turns up to greet her. Presumably one of her other besties, not the one that cheated with her Amy’s boyfriend!

Lynton’s got a mate there too, he’s not seen him in a while either. Lynton’s mate says he looks quite a bit different, the face is completely different and he’s really impressed and proud. Aww!

Matt’s “close friend” Shelly is the one to turn up for him in the end. She says he looks a lot better. She says “Andrew” is proud of him, whoever that might be.

Simmo’s mate Casper turns up for him. Simmo was busy mucking about with everyone else’s kids. Casper says Simmo’s looking really good.

“I love you ever!” Lisa-Faye (not a real name) is told by her son. Cutie!

On Monday afternoon the weigh-in gets a bit feisty as some people aren’t happy about the way today’s challenge went down. And then three favourites fight again in the arena to see who has to go home. Will it be the returnees battling for their spot AGAIN or will the Blue Five finally have to break up?
