TBL 11×17 – The eliminees are returning! The eliminees are returning! Sound the horns!
Previously on The Biggest Loser Transformed the cooking challenge went Blue’s way again! Poor, useless Orange! Well, poor useless Simon and Lisa-Faye (not a real name), as Nikki seems quite competent in the kitchen.
Today, another weigh-in. But this time it’s the eliminated contestants weighing in. Five of the eight will get to fight it out in the arena for a second chance in the competition.
First, training! Blue Team are feeling pretty relaxed after their afternoon of pampering after winning the cooking challenge. Was good to have a massage, Brett even fell asleep!
Libby says they’re all looking good today, ready for training. But they’re not training today, they’re going straight to the weigh-in room. Shock weigh-in! Shannan tells his team it’s going to change the face of the game. How exciting!
Fiona’s in the weigh-in room, in an orange-red top again. Traitor!
The contestants all look a little nervous. Nikki wasn’t ready for a weigh-in so soon, especially not after a big breakfast. Simmo, too. And 3 litres of water.
Fortunately, it’s not them that’s weighing in. It’s the eliminated contestants!
The remaining contestants are all super excited to see the returnees. They’re all looking pretty good. Steph is glowing, Libby says. Anna’s definitely lost a good amount of weight too. Sophia’s looking radiant, Libby tells us.
Jenny’s been committed to her exercise, but feeling much better for being home and among her animals and veggies.
Steph had a rough time when she got home, the scales weren’t moving and she was getting annoyed. She talked to Libby and some experts who told her to just throw the scales out.
Jake was “a little disappointed to leave the competition” (he punched a wall!) but it was good to see his partner and kid.
Josh has got his kids up and moving now as well, off the ipads and out with their Dad.
There’s two spots up for grabs, Fiona says. First step to getting a spot is a weigh-in. Total amount lost since starting, highest percentages will win one spot of five in the arena. Top two out of the five will get a spot back in the competition.
Libby’s hoping it’ll be two Orange people, their numbers are quite depleted.
Jenny Start Weight: 90.4kg
Current: 81.1kg
Loss: 9.3kg
Percentage: 10.29%
Pretty good result for the old bird! She’d basically given up at her old weight, but now she’s realised she can still stay physical and get out and about. Being a role model for the rest of the family.
Josh Start Weight: 147.7kg
Current: 127.6kg
Loss: 20.1kg
Percentage: 13.61%
Josh’s goal was 110kg, he thought he’d be happy with that, but now he’s aiming for 95kg. He wants a healthier life! And his rib is all healed up now.
Sophia Start Weight: 106.3kg
Current: 93.4kg
Loss: 12.9kg
Percentage: 12.14%
Sophia’s taken up ballroom dancing lessons! And eating well, all the good stuff.
Sarah Start Weight: 114.5kg
Current: 106.9kg
Loss: 7.6kg
Percentage: 6.64%
She says it’s been hard at home and it’s a big mental battle for her. She struggles with depression, but has to deal with it and keep going. She struggled coming back today because she struggled to keep going at home. She came back for Shannan, because he made a commitment to her and she wanted to follow through.
The depression is like a black cloud for her and some days she can’t even get out of bed. Shannan says she’d basically begged him not to come back, but she’s proud of herself for coming back and Shannan’s obviously chuffed she can admit that to herself. He tells her people at home will see her as an inspiration for the steps she’s taken.
Her percentage probably isn’t enough to get her a spot back in, but hopefully a day with the others will be enough to get her to keep going.
Luke’s next. He’s nervous to get back on the scales so soon, especially when his last time he put weight on. 109.9kg he weighed in at last. Let’s see if he’s managed to lose any since!
Luke Start Weight: 123.4kg
Current: 107.3kg
Loss: 16.1kg
Percentage: 13.05%
Well that’s good to see, he’s lost a bit more on the outside.
Steph Start Weight: 102.2kg
Current: 91.7kg
Loss: 10.5kg
Percentage: 10.27%
Steph’s goal was to fit into her wedding dress and she can see that happening now, has the confidence.
Anna Start Weight: 117.2kg
Current: 101.6kg
Loss: 15.6kg
Percentage: 13.31%
Anna’s just shy of getting under 100kg, but has obviously been working hard as that’s a good result. She’s had support from her Mum and husband to concentrate on herself for a bit.
Sarah and Steph are both below the yellow line at this point, meaning they won’t get a spot in the arena. Jake needs more than 10.29% to knock Jenny below the line. Jake doesn’t want to win back in at the expense of someone else but the others should be scared.
Jake Start Weight: 122kg
Current: 106.5kg
Loss: 15.5kg
Percentage: 12.7%
Good result for Jake. He was the diabetic guy, if you’ve forgotten.
That means Jake will get to fight in the arena and Jenny won’t. Awww. He says sorry to Jenny but she says no, it’s okay.
Feel like maybe they should have had a wildcard for the person with the lowest percentage? We all love a comeback story, right?
Josh, Anna, Jake, Luke and Sophia now battle (to the death?) in the arena. Fire up, kids!
Jake says he has fond memories of the elimination room. They’ve got a bit of a draft now, they haven’t fixed the hole in the wall. Budget probably won’t stretch to that now they’re on Mondays!
Anna’s first time in an arena challenge, but she really wants to get back in.
There’s a pentagon arrangement of balance beams, with a centre pole of weights and poles around the outer edge for people to stack weights on. Stack weights on other contestants poles, keep your own free of weights, you can remove them from your own pole and put them on someone else’s. Once your pole is full, you’re out. Last one with space free on their pole wins the round and returns to the competition immediately.
This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!
So much chaos as the challenge begins, weights getting dropped, people trying to cross over the same beams. Anna seems the only one with a strategy, every time someone puts a weight on her pole she picks it up and puts it back on the centre pole. Otherwise she’s just staying still and conserving energy.
Sophia’s first out, with Luke and Josh having worked together to stack her pole. Next target, Jake!
All three boys are now duking it out while Anna still calmly stands to the side. Jake can’t keep up with the two boys so it’s Josh, Anna and Luke left.
But instead of then focusing down Anna the two boys turn on each other! Silly!
Anna’s having a laugh with us.
Josh and Luke are fighting over the last weight to go on their stacks and Luke is ruled out first.
Anna’s still standing still. RUN, ANNA. Don’t wait, get another weight on Josh’s pole you plonker!
Before Anna wakes up Josh is already heading back to start removing weights from his pole.
Wow, what an idiot. Anna’s missed her opportunity and Josh has got most of the weight off his pile and back onto the middle pole. By the time both realise what they should be doing it’s all back to even and Anna’s not had the practice running back and forth. Everyone in the peanut gallery is howling, Anna’s blown a lead she should have won handily with.
And yup, Josh finally wins his way back into the game. How bloody stupid is Anna? Ridiculous.
Oh well, Orange is happy, they got a person back and they’re all very excited.
Sophia, Luke, Jake and Anna will now do battle in a “hold the weight up as long as possible” challenge. Dumbbell, arms length, don’t let it drop below the barrier. Last one holding it in position gets back into the competition.
Ready, steady…. stand still for a while!
Luke, Jake and Anna are all wearing their fitness trackers while Sophia isn’t. That’s a bit cheaty, isn’t it?
12 minute mark, everyone’s still holding their weights up. But everyone is obviously feeling the strain. Fifteen minutes. Twenty minutes. Still nobody’s dropped out. Luke and Jake are both sweating profusely, Anna a bit less so. Sophia’s not even broken a sweat!
WAIT, WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW? BOOOOOO. You were doing so well this year!
So I guess we find out who returns to the game tomorrow, then there’s some kind of pairs challenge involving trivia, a rope and a fall into the harbour!
