TBL 11×15 – Can Orange snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? Let’s find out!
Previously on The Biggest Loser Transformed the Orange Team managed to win a 1kg advantage for the next weigh in, which is coming… later this episode!
Today! Last chance training, a weigh in and three people face elimination in the arena.
Today’s training for the Orange Team is a Triple Threat session. 20 seconds on, 20 seconds off each station. Not sure how that’s a triple threat, something about them not losing three people in a row, maybe?
Between the time Libby saw Luke last and now, he’s picked up an injury problem. His knee’s got a bit of calcification on a tendon under the kneebone. He’s cut back on his food to compensate, he hopes, but maybe that’s not the best idea. We’ll see. Libby wants Luke to keep moving today as the movement helps you heal faster, according to all the sports science people.
Nikki’s pushing everyone in training as well, she seems to be digging the workouts.
Lisa-Faye (not a real name) isn’t doing so well, having lost Jake and Josh in the last few days. Josh in particular has got her down a bit. But seeing Luke pushing through the pain inspires her, keeping her focused and determined.
“Heart’s bigger with orange!” That’s the new call, apparently. So lame. Blue for life!
Shannan’s got his blackboard out for training today, going to school his team. It’s time for the Magic Thousands. Ten exercises, 100 of each one.
100 calories on the assault bike, 100 burpees, 100 squats, 100 kettle bell reps, 1000 metres on the treadmill. And some other things in between I assume.
Shannan has a chat with Matt, says he’s the physical powerhouse of the Blue team apparently? This is on the back of being the fastest to 1km on the Blue Team. They didn’t win the challenge, but he’s the one who lead the team. Shannan tells him he’d been putting the other four up as stronger and faster than the others, but here he is knocking that out.
Amy’s smashing training, as usual. She’s beating the boys in the overall timings.
Simmo’s struggling to keep going as he’s cut out carbs in the morning. Gotta keep moving, Simmo!
Amy’s finished all the exercises in 30 seconds faster than the specified time, some of the boys didn’t even manage that.
Now, time for another weigh-in. DUN DUN DUNNNN goes the music!
Fiona’s in a black dress today. Forboding, but at least it’s not orange!
The final six, because it’s a final six this year, will be competing for $150,000 in total. $50,000 for the Biggest Loser plus $100,000 for the best transformation. Only 9 people left, by the way. Which means probably 3 more eliminations, maybe 4 if they do the usual “bring someone back near the end”?
Anyway, Orange has a 1kg advantage today, but Blue’s weighing in first.
Simmo Previous Weight: 116.4kg
Current: 113.3kg
Loss: 3.1kg
Not bad for this stage of the game, but Simmo was hoping for 4kg. Shannan says he’d looked a bit busted in the gym this week, he’d been biggest loser of the week on the old diet so why’d he change it? Carbs in the morning were good for your energy levels, the downsides are outweighed by the benefits in energy and mood.
Lynton Previous Weight: 111.4kg
Current: 109.9kg
Loss: 1.5kg
Oh dear, things are not looking good for the Blue Team. Fiona points out he’s under 110kg to try and save a positive from it. Fiona’s a good egg. *nod*
Shannan’s very worried, because he knows Lynton put in the work this week. What will the other losses look like?
Matt Previous Weight: 107.1kg
Current: 105.4kg
Loss: 1.7kg
Matt says he hadn’t felt proud of himself for quite some time, so he’s been trying to change that. Accept compliments and celebrate achievements.
Brett Previous Weight: 103.9kg
Current: 102.3kg
Loss: 1.6kg
Brett doesn’t want to break up the happy five, they’ve become a family. He trained his backside off this week, so he’s disappointed.
Amy Previous Weight: 96.4kg
Current: 94.4kg
Loss: 2kg
Pretty good for her. Amy’s noticing changes in her body at last, she noticed her collarbones while brushing her teeth this morning. She also got into a smaller pair of pants this morning, a 14. She originally was aiming to be a size 12, but Shannan said he could get her to a 10 and she’s starting to believe it now.
Blue Team Total: 9.9kg
Percentage: 1.85%
Anything starting with a 1 is very rarely a winning percentage.
Percentages.
Simmo: 2.66%
Amy: 2.07%
Matt: 1.59%
Brett: 1.54%
Lynton: 1.35%
This means Matt, Brett and Lynton will face elimination in the arena if they end up losing the weigh in. Which seems likely at this point!
Orange Team only need 5.9kg between the four of them, after their advantage. That should be easy, 1.5kg each and they’re home.
Lisa-Faye (not a real name) Previous Weight: 92.2kg
Current: 91.3kg
Loss: 0.9kg
Oh dear, oh dear. She’s not happy, but Blue have a slight look of hope flashing across their faces.
Lisa-Faye (not a real name) felt a bit vulnerable this week, opened some emotional doors, struggled with losing Jake and Josh. Maybe hasn’t grieved properly for her Dads? She lost her Dad two weeks before her marriage and turned to things like alcohol and food. She hopes she can stay another week.
Nikki Previous Weight: 71.4kg
Current: 70.5kg
Loss: 0.9kg
She said beforehand she worked really hard all week to only lose 0.9kg and it crushed her. But this week she’s looking at it more positively, her mind has changed a lot and she’s going to be under 70kg soon enough. Libby’s chuffed, Nikki finally looks ready to tackle everything.
Orange Team still needs 4.1kg, but they have the two boys left…
Simon Previous Weight: 97.7kg
Current: 96.8kg
Loss: 0.9kg
Hah, don’t think that’s ever happened before? Three people on one team with the exact same weightloss?
Simon’s not sure what’s gone wrong, he wanted more than that but he’s not disappointed for himself because it’s another loss. They don’t want to lose another team member.
Luke needs 3.2kg all by himself. That’s certainly doable, Luke’s still big enough that it could happen. But with the others all losing a consistent 0.9kg…?
Luke Previous Weight: 109.5kg
Current: 109.9kg
GAIN: 0.4kg
Actually burst out laughing at that. He says he cut back on his diet this week, eating less food, because of his injury. Libby says it’s worth talking about this, because people get tempted to do it when injured and can’t train. They try and “even it out” with a tighter diet, but there’s no shortcuts. Gotta eat right so your body doesn’t try and hoard nutrients.
Luke says it’s more than rock bottom, it’s embarassing. Mate, you better throw the elimination after that effort.
Orange Team Total: 2.3kg (plus 1kg advantage)
Percentage: 0.89%
There’s one way to lose to a 1% amount, a 0%!
Percentages.
Nikki: 1.26%
Lisa-Faye (not a real name): 0.98%
Simon: 0.92%
Luke: 0.37% (GAIN)
Lisa-Faye (not a real name), Simon and Luke will go into the arena.
Luke doesn’t want to leave knowing his final weigh-in was a gain. Nikki’s stoked she’s safe, but sad they’re now going to become a trio.
Luke’s goal item is footy stuff, wants to get back out on the footy field. Simon’s wanting to do the Kokoda Trail. Lisa-Faye (not a real name) has a picture from her son, a reminder of the work she’s got to do.
Weird setup in the arena today! What have they got planned?
Luke’s still embarassed to have put weight on. No good crying about it though, gotta have a crack and see how you go.
First round of the challenge, cycle 1km on a resistance bike, pick up a medicine ball and carry it over a series of blocks, at the other end of the course is a frame with a tray on top and you have to throw the ball up and land it on top, then go back to the start and do it again.
First one to complete everything is safe, the other two go to round two.
Simon’s first off the bikes, by a long distance. He’s already got his first ball to the frame before Luke or Lisa-Faye (not a real name) has even finished their cycling.
Simon’s really struggling to get his first ball on the frame! He manages to get one up high enough but it wobbles over and back out. Luke’s the first one to actually land a ball and is back on the bike with a couple hundred metres on Simon before he gets back.
Simon and Luke are both back with their second balls as Lisa-Faye (not a real name) finally lands her first ball. Simon’s first back after landing his second ball, but Luke’s not far behind. It’s looking like a race between the boys, but Lisa-Faye (not a real name) isn’t giving up, she’s hoping she can find her rhythm and start landing more balls.
Lots of cheering from the sidelines, thought Shannan had left but he’s standing up top with his Blue Team watching on. Libby’s trying to encourage them all equally, running around like a headless chook.
After an ad break Simon lands his last ball just seconds ahead of Luke. So close!
Lisa-Faye’s surprised Luke managed to pull off a close second on a knee he couldn’t train on. Bit suspicious you think? Hmm.
Second round. Medicine ball, hold it above your head for as long as you can. If the ball goes below your head you’re out of the challenge and out of the game. Didn’t say you couldn’t rest it on your head, Fee!
Going to be a long challenge, neither will want to give up but medicine balls are HEAVY!
Luke’s focusing on his small loss this week to try and motivate him. Doesn’t look like he’ll have anything to worry about though, Lisa-Faye (not a real name) is pretty much done at the 3min mark. She’s thinking about her son and trying not to think about the pain in her arms.
After another couple of minutes Luke is starting to show the strain as well. Both contestants are making some spectacular faces!
More grunting, groaning, until finally the buzzer sounds and Luke is OUT!
Luke didn’t want to leave after gaining weight. Amy’s really upset up in the peanut gallery, they had a close friendship apparently.
Tough challenge, tough girl won, says Luke. Luke wishes her the best in the future. Lisa-Faye (not a real name) says he was the Captain of Team Morale. Libby says he lightened up a few tense situations through the weeks for them.
Luke’s highlight is still the solo kayaking challenge. He was the only one who had to do it solo so he’s proud of having achieved that.
Amy’s really sad, really really sad. She wasn’t expecting to get so close to someone in the house, she’s definitely going to go visit him when she gets out.
Simmo is, again, the biggest loser of the week, so he retains the power. The power this week is an advantage in tomorrow’s challenge.
Down to five versus three, Simmo thinks things are looking good for Team Blue.
Tomorrow, messages from home provide inspiration in the gym. Amy’s going to train the boys, too.
And some healthy chef person is going to be there for the cooking challenge. Here’s hoping she’s not as full of shit as the last lady they had for the cooking challenge…
