TBL 11×11 – Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight…

Previously on The Biggest Loser Amy smashed Simon in the team head to head challenge.

“Tonight”… oh Mr Voiceover Man, has nobody told you? It’s 1pm on a Monday afternoon!

Anyway, in this episode last chance training, a heated weigh-in and a shock elimination in the arena. Exciting!

Team Blue relays the exciting news they won another challenge, head to heads against the Orange team. Shannan’s obviously very impressed by Amy beating Simon, asks how her shoulders are. “Sore”, admits Amy. Worth it for the 1kg advantage they’ll have at the weigh-in later.

Lynton’s a high achiever, Shannan says. He wanted to be a pilot, then an instructor, but as a result his health has suffered along the way. But he’s seeing a changed man now. Lynton’s moving a lot more like a 27 year old, says he’s going to join a gym when he leaves. He’s generally feeling a lot more positive about the direction of his life.

Amy has a chat with Shannan about her win over Simon. She had Brett in her head the whole way, face up to him, if he goes slower you go faster. But going home still scares her, because she’s worried she’ll go back to the same, easier ways of living. Shannan says Kurt Fearnley has said you’ve always got two voices in your head but you’ve got to make the one that says “work harder” the louder of the two.

Libby’s got her team in to explain the challenge results. She says sometimes you have to face adversity to overcome things. The important thing is to get back on the horse. Luke loves Libby the little Energizer bunny.

Orange Team’s doing Tabata training today, which is one of those fancy ways of training. Work hard for a bit, then rest, then hard, then rest, etc.

Except for Josh, he’s on the step machine because he can’t go as hard due to his busted rib. He’s trying to keep moving on the treadmill, but it’s hurting his chest a lot. He’s feeling the pressure, can’t bring a lot to the team.

Jake’s pushing really hard in training in this last chance training, he feels like he’s giving it more than he’s been able to before. He’s doing it tough, Libby doesn’t want him to overdo it though. Afterwards he’s spent and lying on the floor, Luke brings him a drink because he’s too knackered to even do that. Poor bastard!

Time for weigh-in! Blue Team have a 1kg advantage this week and they’re looking pretty confident.

Fiona’s there of course. She says the scales only tell the truth. She’s in an orange-red top again. Need more blue outfits, Fee! Blue for life!

Lynton’s told he’s looking good. Lisa-Faye (not a real name) is surprised at how much she’s been enjoying the challenge.

Once again the three contestants with the lowest weightloss on the losing team will face an elimination challenge in the arena.

Orange weighing in first this week. Must be close, since Blue have a 1kg advantage.

Jake Previous Weight: 113.5kg
Current: 111.3kg
Loss: 2.2kg

He’s happy with 2.2kg, he’s aiming to get to mid-90s or low-90s. He’s confident he can get there now.

Nikki Previous Weight: 72.3kg
Current: 71.4kg
Loss: 0.9kg

She’s disappointed, but she shouldn’t be as that’s a fairly normal weightloss in a week for someone of her size. She says she’s embarassed and is in tears, which shows how much mascara she’s wearing!

She wants to get off the scales but Shannan says don’t be in such a rush, it’s good to see her being so real. If she’s disappointed that’s okay, it shows everyone how serious she is about this. Fiona asks her if she’s trying to replace the negative voice in her head with a positive voice. Libby says the time in the house is so important to help her get that voice replaced. Big hugs from Libby!

Lisa-Faye (not a real name) Previous Weight: 94.6kg
Current: 92.2kg
Loss: 2.4kg

Simon Previous Weight: 100.9kg
Current: 97.7kg
Loss: 3.2kg

Luke Previous Weight: 113.3kg
Current: 109.5kg
Loss: 3.8kg

Josh Previous Weight: 133.7kg
Current: 130.8kg
Loss: 2.9kg

That’s… okay, considering he has an injury? No, he’s disappointed anyway. He can’t pull the big numbers, he thinks. He’s at peace with going home though, he feels some of the others deserve it more. He’s got good support and life at home. Shannan thinks he’s overestimating how his life has been going at home, he was the biggest competitor this year!

Orange Team Loss: 15.4kg
Percentage: 2.45%

Can that be enough? Possibly, Blue may have become complacent.

Individual results!

Luke: 3.35%
Simon: 3.17%
Lisa-Faye: 2.54%
Josh: 2.17%
Jake: 1.94%
Nikki: 1.24%

Josh, Jake and Nikki face elimination if Orange lose.

Amy Previous Weight: 99.9kg
Current: 96.4kg
Loss: 3.5kg

Wow! Amy has smashed it this week. That’s almost as much as Luke’s raw loss on the Orange team. She’s very happy with the result. She likes training like a boy, with the boys, but she’s a strong girl like Lisa-Faye and Nikki, not one of the boys. Shannan says she shouldn’t strive to be one of the boys, it’d be underselling herself.

Lynton Previous Weight: 115.2kg
Current: 111.4kg
Loss: 3.8kg

Lynton’s proud of that effort and Shannan’s obviously really pleased with his efforts too.

Matt Previous Weight: 109.5kg
Current: 107.1kg
Loss: 2.4kg

Not brilliant, but not bad either.

Simmo Previous Weight: 121.6kg
Current: 116.4kg
Loss: 5.2kg

WOW! That’s a huge result at this stage of the game.

Simmo’s loss brings their total to 14.9kg, which I gather is already enough to win, unless Brett somehow manages to stack on a bunch of weight?

Brett Previous Weight: 108.1kg
Current: 103.9kg
Loss: 4.2kg

That’s his wedding weight, apparently. Six years in October. He’s obviously thrilled with his result this week.

Blue Team Total: 19.1kg (+1kg advantage)
Percentage after advantage: 3.63%

Absolutely wrecked the Orange Team. Like, not even a close thing.

Josh, Jake and Nikki will now battle it in the arena. Josh is already talking about how much more Jake and Nikki need to be there. Jake tells Fiona he feels terrible because he’s probably stronger and fitter than either of them, he’s hoping it’s a fair challenge.

Nikki doesn’t feel like she can even compete with the boys. Libby tells her she needs to be there, so fight for it! Josh has a fear of failure, she’s worried Josh will be sitting on the couch in a few months having put the weight back on, but Josh says it won’t happen.

Shannan thinks that’s bullshit. Uhoh! Shoosh, Shannan!

Josh is happy to quit, Shannan thinks. Shannan wants Josh to give it 100%, if he doesn’t win then so be it. Josh doesn’t want to be known as the guy who threw the towel in, he doesn’t want to make one of the others lose. Shannan says that doesn’t mean the others lose, it just means he won.

Oh well, let’s see how it pans out.

Two rounds again, last person standing in the first round wins and is safe. Second round the loser goes home.

First round, balance on a hemisphere ball with a small ball balanced on a paddle. If the ball falls off or you fall off the ball, you lose!

Josh hasn’t immediately thrown it at least! But he’s worried because tensing his core, which he has to do a lot in this, really hurts his rib.

Things are pretty tense in the elimination arena, it’s very quiet instead of the usual raucousness. Nobody wants to call out encouragement in case it’s a distraction.

Josh says the people he has to answer to are his partner and his kids. If he throws the challenge they might be disappointed in him.

Oh, Nikki’s first out. She’ll be into the second round with either Josh or Jake, who are at the five minute mark now. Jake versus Nikki in the second round would be heartbreaking!

Luke’s giving out odds on who’ll win, proving you can’t escape gambling even in a stupid reality TV show!

Jake’s sweating profusely and having to brush his hair back, which unbalances him some more. They’re at the ten minute mark now and neither man is sure how much longer they can hold on.

“It hurts like buggery!” Nah mate, nothing hurts like buggery…

We see the ball fall off a paddle but we can’t see who the paddle belongs to. Ad break! Curses!

It’s Jake. Jake’s into the second round with Nikki, basically the worst result possible. Josh is happy he’s won though, first time a lot of people have seen him wanting to win the competition.

Round two, stand on your toes on a small ledge. First to give up is out of the challenge and out of the competition. Hope Nikki’s had a lot of practice wearing high heels!

Nikki’s got a bit of an advantage because she’s lighter, but Jake’s also stronger… but Jake’s already wobbling, which distracts Nikki who also starts to wobble.

Nikki’s worried, but starts thinking of her daughter at home. She focuses on a spot on the floor and is determined to fight for it.

Part of the challenge here is that usually part of your ability to balance is moving your feet to adjust your weight and positioning. Jake’s wobbling all over the place, his calves are burning after the long first round.

Wobble wobble goes Jake, Nikki’s in the zone… and off Jake goes! Jake is gutted, walks over to the wall and punches right through it. Oops!

Everyone’s shocked Jake is gone, and amazed that Nikki managed to topple him. Jake doesn’t hang around for long, just heads out the doors with a swift, “Seeya, kiddos!”

Nikki chases off after him, as does Josh. Many hugs ensue. Josh says he’s sorry, but Jake says don’t be sorry, his legs couldn’t handle it. Nikki wants him to come say goodbye to everyone, but he can’t, he just has to go.

Josh is determined to give it 100% every time from now on, else he’s just slapping Jake in the face.

Jake feels like he let his family down, but maaaaaate, you so didn’t! You did so good and you managed to remain a really nice bloke while doing it. That’s really hard for a lot of people!

He’s very thankful for the opportunity to get control of his life again. He’s learned a lot.

Nikki’s devastated. Josh tears up when talking about how much Jake wanted to stay. Jake’s what it looks like to really want this transformation, Libby says.

Simmo’s the Biggest Loser for the week and gets the new power. The power will grant someone immunity, anyone, bar himself. He can use it at any point this week.

Both teams are now down the five contestants each.

Tomorrow afternoon, a surprise training session with the GWS Giants. And then cooking for them afterwards. Who’s going to drop the ball? Who’s score the ultimate goal? WHO’LL HAVE THE BEST FOOTBALL PUNS?
