TBL 11×09 – Not enough mud, need more mud, mud mud mud!
Previously on The Biggest Loser Transformed the two teams were tasked with creating a healthy, low cost meal. And the Blue Team actually won for a change!
Tonight it’s another elimination challenge. An epic obstacle course set in Glenworth Valley. Blue have some kind of advantage for the challenge so there’s a chance they might not fail miserably!
Fiona’s in the middle of a muddy paddock with Libby and Shannan and she confirms they’re there for an obstacle course challenge, with the losing team joining her in the elimination room to vote out one of their own.
Week 3, anyone carrying any injuries? Luke and Josh were tussling in the kitchen and he copped an elbow in the ribs. Has a sweet bruise to show for it, but the medics have advised he sit out of the challenge. Real smart, guys!
For today’s challenge, pick a member of the team to saw through a log. Then pairs will carry two smaller logs through a number of other obstacles. A mud pit, over a dirt mound, over a series of hurdles, across a river and then through a tire course. Once you’ve cleared the final obstacle you have to put your log upright at the end of the course. When both logs are in position one person runs a bag through the course again, the bag has their team banner inside and they have to display it at the end on the logs. Last to do so will face elimination.
As Orange has two more members than Blue they’ll have to sit two people out. Josh is one already due to medical advice, Blue will get to pick the other using their power. They choose Simon as he’s basically fit, just carrying some extra weight. Brett says he’s sorry to Simon, but tells us he’s not sorry at all. Rude!
Sawing the log for Blue will be Brett, Jake for Orange. Have either of them sawed before?
Shannan has! Shannan’s an ex-carpenter so he’s trying to advise Brett to let the saw do the work. Jake’s making good progress, but he’s also putting in a lot of effort into sawing as fast as possible.
Sophia and Lisa-Faye (not a real name) are first through the sawn log after Jake’s efforts, but they’re working at cross-purposes trying to lift their log. Before they even get moving Matt and Lynton have gone past them with the blue log.
Shannan says the mud bowl they have to carry the log through first is designed for maximum discomfort. Both boys are struggling with the gloopy mud clinging to their legs as they try and push their log through. The girls aren’t doing any better through the mud bowl, but the boys are struggling to get out the other side. It’s slippery and grassy so it’s hard to even get your body out, much less the log.
Matt’s still struggling to get out of the muddy pond as the girls get to the end of the mud bowl, but Sophia’s little legs are holding her back.
Now, over the hurdles with the log, then back into a water section. Swimming! Not wading through mud this time. Should clean them off a little bit.
Matt and Lynton are still well in the lead, but Matt’s having a little trouble keeping up with the log. Lynton seems to be a strong swimmer and he’s shouldering most of the burden of pulling the log through.
After the river it’s lugging the log through low tires, then high tires, then low tires. That’s gotta be draining!
Matt and Lynton get through first but they’re having a lot of trouble getting their log into the hole at the end where it needs to stand straight up. Shannan’s getting a bit frustrated because the bad communication and coordination is creeping back into the Blues.
After an ad break it looks like their log is set in the hole properly, but it’s not turned properly for the last contestant to raise their flag so they’ve got to spin it around a bit. There goes a goodly portion of the lead they had!
Simmo and Amy are next into the mud bowl for Blue as Brett’s going to run last against Jake on Orange. Luke and Nikki are pushing their log through the mud bowl, but Nikki says it STINKS. Hah! Libby tells her to embrace it.
After the mud bowl Nikki and Luke’s coordination is way off, Luke nearly hits Nikki in the head with the log, but Luke’s also carrying most of the weight so…
Meanwhile Amy and Simmo are past the hurdles and into the river. Amy’s swimming strongly at the front of the log while Simmo pushes and swims behind. Seems to be working well for them.
Luke’s knackered and can barely swim it seems, leaving a lot of the swimming work to Nikki. Nikki, the one who was freaking out about the water at the start of the season!
Blue get their second log into their loghole while Orange are still trundling through the tires. At least, that’s how it appears. Might be some more clever editing going on…
Brett’s running the anchor leg for Blue. Brett was born with his feet on the wrong way and he’s had a bunch of surgeries to try and fix them over the years. But Shannan knows Brett’s a fighter, he won’t let that stop him giving his best to try and save his team.
Brett had a good lead going into the final leg, but Jake’s REALLY FAST. As Brett’s getting out of the lake we can see Jake slogging through the mudbowl. As Brett gets into the river for the swimming leg, Jake’s halfway through the hurdles. Halfway through the river leg and Jake’s only 10 metres behind.
Still the tires and the flag raising to go, but Brett’s maintaining his slight lead. Shannan and Libby are howling from the bank of the river.
Brett’s fading a little as Jake slowly closes the gap in the tire section. Just a bit of fiddling with the flag and Jake could snatch victory!
But it’s not to be. Brett manages to string up the Blue flag ahead of Jake and crosses the line first.
“Winning is habitual and I hope my guys are starting to get hooked.” They’re going to do so much winning they’ll get tired of winning!
Libby’s still pleased with her team because she knows they gave it everything they could today.
Blue wins the elimination and are thus safe from elimination. Orange will now have to face elimination via a vote. Josh still has the OTHER power for the week, with his vote being worth two votes instead of one. Not a fun position to be in.
Sophia feels like she let the team down with her poor weightloss. Josh says they should be voting for him, he has some kind of problem he’s waiting on results from? Did his dumb rough housing lead to a broken rib? Would that even stop him staying at Camp?
Amy’s close to many on the orange team and they know how rough it is being in the elimination room, but it’s really good not to face that this time!
Lynton thinks Sophia and Simon are the likely victims. They think Simon’s at risk because he doesn’t lose enough weight but will keep smashing the girls in the elimination challenges. Sophia’s weightloss may be a problem for the other boys though.
Blue hopes Sophia doesn’t go though, because she brings a lot of joy to the house.
Sophia, Lisa-Faye (not a real name) and Jake are discussing among themselves. Sophia feels like nobody listens to her and she’s probably right! They didn’t listen to her in the food challenge and they lost that.
Simon, Luke, Josh and Nikki are having a separate chat as well. They’re not discussing their vote though, personal vote, whoever loses is the one who loses. Josh is told by Nikki not to volunteer himself because he doesn’t have his results yet. What results!
Time for elimination room! Everyone’s worried they’ll go home! Nobody wants to go home! They have to be there for themselves! Except Josh, who has a mystery condition! And two votes!
Orange Team, you started so well! Until this week, when you lost the weigh-in, the cooking challenge and the team challenge. Luke thinks they’ll bounce back, nothing has changed in the team, everyone’s pulling their weight.
Josh is upset about having to sit out of challenges, not able to help his team win them. He can still lose weight, if that’s what his team needs, but he just can’t do the challenges.
Simon’s convinced he’ll be going home because his weightloss isn’t good enough and he’ll keep getting into the arena challenges. Lisa-Faye (not a real name) says she definitely couldn’t beat Simon in an arena challenge.
Yeah, go team confidence!
Sophia says he’ll always be below the yellow line (COUGH COUGH YOU WERE TOO COUGH COUGH) and so everyone will have to face him eventually, which is scary. Simon says in terms of challenges he’s an asset and that might make up for the danger?
Jake thinks not everyone worked as hard as they should have the second week. Fiona asks Jake who he means and Jake says Sophia. Sophia says she’s done more in two weeks than she had in a long time. Sophia felt amazing the first week and thought she was doing enough in the second week.
Simon agrees with Jake. Up until yesterday she was doing well, but then there were some comments yesterday… comments like nobody listening to her during challenges, Lisa-Faye (not a real name) always takes over. Sophia confirms she expressed her disappointment her ideas were brushed aside.
Simon says they’ve discussed everything as a team, but Sophia’s having none of it. She says she made one comment about an avocado and a capsicum and now it’s a big deal?
Lisa-Faye (not a real name) says there’s seven adults at the table, if you want to make yourself heard, make yourself heard.
Nikki’s unimpressed! This isn’t why they’re there, they’re not there to bicker over he-said, she-said stuff. They’re not meant to be bickering over a frigging capsicum. If you need to sort something out you can take people aside at a different time, not in the elimination room. Sort it out, this isn’t what they’re there for! Nikki feels like she’s in high school again. Hah!
Sophia’s maybe at risk, she thinks people may have changed their votes in the last fifteen minutes.
Simon’s voting for the good of the team and will live with the result at the end. Jake says they’re family, it’s really hard to vote for anyone, but they’ve got to vote for the good of the team.
Wow, Orange sure has fallen apart quickly! Even Blue didn’t get this nasty!
Jake voted to help them win challenges and weigh-ins. He’s voting against his heart, voting with logic, he doesn’t want to do it but he feels like it will enhance the team. He’s voted for… Nikki?!
Nikki seems a little surprised, but says it’s alright.
Lisa-Faye (not a real name) voted for a person who’s not delivering at weigh-in, someone who’s struggling with the pace and requirements in the house, someone who’s maybe strong enough to do this at home. She’s voted for… Sophia!
Josh, who has double vote power, doesn’t talk first just votes for Luke. He couldn’t come up with a good reason to vote for anyone so just picked Luke because of their unfortunate accident. O…kayyy?
Simon’s clutching at straws too. Voting for someone who was his favourite at first, because of their vibrancy, singing, laughter and so on. But the spark is gone in… Sophia!
Luke has two votes, Sophia has two votes, Nikki has one vote.
Sophia’s not surprised Simon voted for her. She’s gone a different route. She’s voted for someone who’s an inspiration, a wonderful person and she feels like they’re ready to go home. She’s voted for Josh.
Bloody hell, talk about a split vote!
Nikki felt disconnected from the person she’s voted for at first. As time went on they’ve talked more and they’re an amazing person, full of energy, put in 100% in challenges and exercises, and the weigh-ins. She’s hoping one day she can beat him, but she can’t yet, so she’s voted for Simon.
Luke’s the last vote. If Luke has written down Sophia’s name, she’s out. If he’s voted for anyone else it’ll be a hung vote and they’ll all have to vote again. That’d be fun!
Luke has voted for someone with a good fitness base, was keen and eager, but something has changed and he wishes this person the best… but he’s voted for Sophia. With just 3 votes Sophia has been eliminated. Crazy!
Sophia wishes everyone good luck with the competition and says goodbye and off she goes.
Orange look pretty gutted. Torn strips off each other, feel good about it? You can go now!
Blue’s been waiting for the Orange team to come back. Amy’s worried because Nikki and Luke are her close friends so she’s worried they’ll be gone.
Amy sees Luke first and is relieved, then sees the rest and doesn’t notice who’s missing at first. It’s Sophia, weren’t you watching? Gosh.
Nobody expected what happened in the elimination room, lots of back and forth between Simon and Sophia. Jake says he said a bit about Sophia not training as hard and it just rolled from there.
Amy whispers to Luke to ask him if he made his mind up in the room or beforehand and Luke says he made his mind up in the room, wasn’t going to beforehand.
Nikki says she’s really going to miss Sophia, she brought a good energy to the group.
Sophia promises she’ll be toned up and happier by finale.
Tomorrow night, old school training for Blue!
And we finally find out what’s wrong with Josh!
And the contestants go head to head in the arena, with a “boilover” in the offing. How exciting! Maybe. Mr Voiceover Man does like lying to us…
