TBL 10×36 – Towers of DOOM! Who’ll Be Sent Home?

Previously on The Biggest Loser we sent Cliff straight back home after he won his way back into the competition. Poor Cliff!

The weekly Game is a multi-round affair and the prize up for grabs is a big one – whoever wins can instantly eliminate any other player remaining in the game. Meep!

The final round started last night with Johnee, Tenealle and Tony battling to build a 2.5 metre tower of “cards” with wooden blocks. Tenealle nearly managed it but her tower overbalanced a tiny bit and lost a couple of levels, giving Tony a chance to catch up after some early messy attempts.

Johnee starts the show by saying they’re a 2-1 chance to win the game. They’re really not, that’s not how it works. But anyway, back to the building!

Just heard the rule that there has to be four walls for each level, no wonder they’re not trying any riskier builds.

Tenealle’s lost her levels again and we’re back to watching Tony carefully stacking up his levels after carrying a bunch of his cards to the top of his ladder so he can stay steady and stable at the top for longer. One level of Tony’s falls down but he picks it back up and resumes building.

As Tony’s tower continues to grow, Tenealle’s starts to tip again as she’s climbing up the ladder. No chance to save it this time, the whole thing crumbles to the ground. Tony’s now well in the lead… and easily gets past Johnee in the end, winning pretty comfortably.

Tenealle’s not happy, says Tony’s got an angry look of victory. Puh-leeze. Johnee’s not happy they lost either. Too bad! He worked just as hard as you two.

Time for Tony to eliminate someone from the competition. Another chance for him to pick one person out to send home at the end of the day. Tony tells us it’s between Johnee, Tenealle and Sam. The alliance has been officially broken so it’s down to those three.

Tenealle’s worried it’ll be Johnee going home, she’d much rather be the one.

Sam’s worried because the last time this power came up it was Cliff who went. But she knows the Jofale alliance was longstanding so it might play into Tony’s thoughts tonight.

Johnee’s hoping it’ll be Sam sent home, or himself. Tenealle would be a disaster, he says.

The Jofres are looking “weird”, Tenealle says. Daniel’s not looking happy and obviously something bad is about to happen.

Tony says he’s got to think of himself and his family. More so himself, who’s a threat to him winning? He tells Sam the plan was to get her and Cliff back out and have the Jofales get through to the end, but we go to an ad break so maybe he’s going to send Johnee home? That would certainly ruffle some Jofre feathers, wouldn’t it?

After the ad break Tony says again that the plan was to send Sam and Cliff back home but both Tenealle and Johnee have said they’d vote Jofres out to get Auvales into the final, so he’s decided to send Johnee home. Not a big surprise, really.

Tenealle’s not happy, not happy at all! Johnee tries to get them to look after her but she says she doesn’t need looking after. Rob asks if she’s still their sister? Not so sure, Rob.

Johnee says he wants the Jofres to know he’s very grateful for all the times they could have sent him home, but didn’t. They kept their word throughout and without the Jofres he wouldn’t’ve made it so far. And all his new training know-how wouldn’t’ve been possible without Commando Steve.

On the way out, Johnee’s telling Tenealle not to cry. She’s trying really hard, her nose is really red! Johnee asks her not to hold it against the boys, they’re competitive, and he knows she is too, but it’s okay. Johnee tells us he loves her with all his heart, and it’s a pretty big heart.

See you soon, work hard. Try and take out the next challenge. Tenealle says this was not the plan, but Johnee says it was the plan all along. Work hard, get an Auvale into the finale.

Tenealle says she knows what it’s been like for the others who have been left without a family member in the house. She’s already not liking it.

Next day, trainers turn up. And no Johnee. Where’s Johnee? Gone home. The Jofres still look pretty down about it. The trainers are just shocked.

Tenealle’s doing okay, she tells Steve. Mish tells her to stay strong.

Now, contestants, go find something that represents home to you. Represents your old life, who you used to be. Maybe some clothing? Anything. Bring it to the sandpit.

There’s a firepit in the sandpit. Guess we’re burning things you’re not meant to burn again?

Time to say goodbye to your old lives. Commando Steve says it looks like Pablo’s brought his whole wardrobe, with some jeans and a jumper slung over his shoulders.

Steve tells them the trainers believe in them, but that’s not the only thing that matters, they’ve got to believe in themselves.

Tiff says they’re going to train now and when the trainers think each of them is ready they’re going to ask them to throw their clothes in the fire. They’re going to “extinguish their old lives”, says Steve. But that’s setting fire to it, not extinguishing!

They’re also asked to write down three words that represent their past lives. Tenealle has regret, denial and sadness. She regrets not doing anything sooner, especially when she knew she needed to. She’s sad because she’s still not a Mum. Like they’ve reminded us every week. She says if she’d done what she needed before she wouldn’t be there because she’d be at home with her kids. All her friends have babies and she looks after them and plays with them.

Tenealle says it’s great playing with them but there’s also an emptiness because she doesn’t have any of her own.

Steve says Tenealle used to be consumed by pain and regret. Cue footage of how many baby clothes Tenealle has in a closet. It’s kinda ridiculous, considering she has no children!

Tenealle is being at Camp and working hard and getting her headspace right so she can not only get to have kids but also keep it up and be a good role model for her kids. She’s ready, whenever she goes home she’s going to keep it up for the rest of her life.

Time to put the things in the fire. FIRE GOOD!

Tiff’s standing beside Sam, flapping Sam’s trackpants back and forth as Sam rows on the machine. Tiff says she’s a strong chick who deserves a healthy life. Sam says she’s worried she’s going to fail, but she’s come so far Tiff tells her. Sam’s still worried. She’s supposed to write three things down but she fills the page with things. She’d get so angry all the time, would get angry at Cliff even when he hadn’t done anything wrong. She hated her old life, she doesn’t want to go back to that.

Tiff tells us when she first met Sam, she had no chance. She’d just sit on the couch and eat. We see old footage of Tiff telling her it’s not just about the weight, it’s about who she wants to be, what she wants to do with her life.

Sam doesn’t feel attractive to Cliff anymore. She knows he still loves her, but she’d like to be happy again.

Tiff is very proud of her. Burn them pants! You’ve worked hard and you deserve better, Tiff tells her.

Sam tells us she’s never pushed herself so hard in her life, so she’s very proud of what she’s achieved.

The Jofres are throwing medicine balls down onto their clothes. Don’t get too much sand on them or you’ll put the fire out!

Keep pushing, push push push, get angry with your old life, get rid of it.

Mish asks Daniel who was that old man and Daniel says it wasn’t a man, it was a scared little boy. He was scared he didn’t know where he was going, who he was, lost, making excuses. Makes him angry. Makes him want to burn it. But first, ripriprip the jeans up.

Daniel says before coming on the show he was immature, wasted many years of his life binge eating. He’s in control now though.

The Jofres have done the whole thing, start to finish, with each other. So they’re doing their promises and clothes burning in a group.

Daniel tears his pants up and throws them on the fire. Mish gives him a hug and says she’s proud of him.

Tony has some words. He says they were loyal as a family, but he had no loyalty to himself. He’d promise to do things but wouldn’t. Stayed in bed a lot, no reason to live and so on. Mish says when she met Tony he was just sitting around on the couch shoveling food into his face. And it was weird for her to see Tony (Antonio!) has the same certification she’s got. She’s got a few more, but they’re both personal trainers. And he’s probably got more trophies than her, she says. Mish told him that that’s the version of him he can be again.

Burn the words, burn the clothes. Tony tells us it’s a great moment.

Pablo says his old life was pointless. He dreamt of what he want, but he didn’t do anything. When Mish met him, Pablo was a virtual recluse. Rarely left the house and usually only to get more food. Pablo knows he wasted most of his 20s, looking the way he did. He’d like to live his 30s a bit better.

Pablo’s promising never to go back to his old way of life.

This is the kind of BBQ Michelle likes, she tells the boys. They’ve made changes and the progress is why she does the job.

Rob’s last of all. He says the old Rob is gone, forever. No more excuses, emotional eating, no more justifying being unhealthy. No more taking the easy road.

We get a bit of unseen footage now, Mish going on a truck journey with Rob. Rob’s old life was basically just sitting in a truck all day eating donuts. A job I would like, please!

No more symbols of what they once were. This is the Rob he’s wanted to be and he’s achieved it thanks to his nephews. He thanks them for their love and encouragement. They make him feel stronger and he couldn’t’ve done it without them. Mish is getting left out of the love-in, hah!

Last challenge of the year! Fiona’s there, as are the trainers today. Going to be a big one today.

Fiona says they’re going to need their trainers for what’s coming today. They’ve also got life size cardboard cutouts of what they used to look like. They’re all shocked by what they used to be like.

Yes, it’s another race down memory lane. Except this time they’re going to start by being loaded up with the weight they’ve lost since the start. They then have to do a 400m lap of the track, after which a week’s weightloss will be taken off them. First across the line wins a golden ticket straight to finale.

Sam’s lost 19.1kg since the start. Not too bad, but she is still very surprised by how much it’s weighing her down.

Pablo’s got 43.3kg on his back. Rob’s got 46.3kg. He’s bent over right from the start, Mish can barely believe he was ever that big.

Tony’s got 37.9kg and Daniel’s got 38.4kg. Daniel really wants to win so he can focus on getting the rest of his family across the line.

Tenealle says being her start weight didn’t feel as bad when she was really that weight, but it was a lot to carry on her back.

Ready, set, go!

Actually, four weeks later! We’re catching up with Johnee, who’s looking slimmer but I suspect there might be a girdle in play. Bit of a muffintop up around his manboobs. But he’s jogging of an afternoon, because he can do that now! He’s got a lot more energy, he’s a whole new person.

He was worried he’d get home and everyone would still be eating bad things, but they’re all eating a lot more healthily now. And Johnee’s looking even more like Moses as he loses ever more weight!

Johnee’s shocked at his first weigh in tape. Like everyone always is. It’s a wakeup call for him, he knows the journey isn’t over yet.

Finale won’t be the end for him, the goal is to have kids with Tenealle.

Next week, the race! Who can shed the weight quickest and win a golden ticket straight to finale?

Whoever wins, the training isn’t done. Last chance training is turned up a thousand notches with an epic obstacle course worthy of their very last training session at Camp Biggest Loser.

But their final Temptation is to follow. Leave the game now for $20,000? So close to the end? Will someone take it? The clips are suggesting Daniel might… but clips are so often deceiving.

Guess you’ll have to come back on Sunday to find out?
