TBL 10×25 – And The Biggest Gainer Of The Week Is…
Previously on The Biggest Loser Moses fainted and was taken off to hospital in an ambulance. It all looked very dire but it turned out it wasn’t really that serious.
The weekly challenge was being held in conjunction with the personal training academy Commando Steve’s the public face of, the Sage Institute. It involved a bunch of dragging tires around and slamming balls down and running up and down stairs.
And let’s not forget poor old Cliff who had to weigh in 48 hours early thanks to Pablo’s victory in The Game. But as Mr Voiceover Man reveals at the start of the show, someone’s going to put on weight at this week’s weigh-in. And if you’ve checked the TV guide you’ll already know who that will be!
I’ll leave off revealing it too early. You’ll have to read on… or skip to the end!
Michelle Bridges Thinks I’m A Freak
And to be fair, she’s not wrong. But if you haven’t seen the news there’s a collaboration between The Biggest Loser’s super trainer Michelle Bridges and grocery chain Woolworths that’s ruffled a few feathers.
You can watch the ad on YouTube, if you’ve missed it.
In the commercial for Mish’s new microwave meals she is seen eating a mouthful of “dirt” and suggesting people who grow their own vegetables are acting like a “freak”. It’s meant to be funny, and it kind of is a little bit. If it’d been done on a sketch comedy show complaints would be few and far between.
Because it’s being done in conjunction with “Woolworths The Fresh Food People” it all has a bit of a whiff about it. Michelle isn’t likely to care if people are growing their own carrots, she’s probably encouraged people to have their own veggie patches in the past. But if we all started growing a lot of our own fruit and veg, Woolworths would stand to lose a heck of a lot of business.
It’s all a bit strange, really. A big part of Michelle’s success is based on the idea of exercising more and eating fresh, healthy foods. Not prepackaged frozen meals you stick in the microwave. They might be a healthier option than some of the others on the market, yet it’s not a market you would expect her to get into.
Maybe it’s not those of us who grow food in the garden that are the freaks?
TBL 10×24 – The Game Takes A Nasty Twist!
Previously on The Biggest Loser we saw Jodie sent home at elimination as surprisingly Johnee escaped elimination yet again.
Tonight the rest of the Game. The Jofres have started to pile weight on each other to give Mel a break, but one of them will probably still win.
Moses’ heart problems continue with more tests being run and him looking pretty sickly. Will he have to quit the competition for health reasons?
And the winner of The Game gets to send one person to weigh in early, maybe? Mr Voiceover Man is teasing us with an early weigh in for one person.
But now, back to The Game. Tony, how many calories in a cup of black coffee? 1, 7 or 10? 1, correct, more weight on Mel.
TBL 10×23 – Johnee versus Jodie in the Elimination Room of DOOM
Previously on The Biggest Loser: Families we nearly saw Cliff stage an upset and win the $20,000 at the weigh in, but it was not to be as Tony streaked from behind to claim the prize.
Tonight two of the biggest remaining contestants, Johnee and Jodie, will face elimination. Johnee is from the Auvale family, who’ve had a strong alliance with the Jofres, giving them control over five votes. Jodie is from the Pestells and can probably count on her sister not to vote for her, and maybe Cliff. It’s not hard to see why Jodie’s probably out the door tonight.
Unless the Jofres finally go with strategy over alliance. It’s really down to them, as it has been so often this season.
We’ll also find out what’s happened to Moses. One might expect he’d dehydrated himself too much for the weigh in or something similar but for the fact he didn’t lose a huge amount this week as he was trying to deliberately be below Johnee. Maybe the stress of Johnee going under the line has brought something more serious to the fore?
The weekly Game will also start tonight and it looks to be some kind of trivia mixed with an endurance event. Mixed with drama, because it’s Biggest Loser!
As the episode begins we’re treated again to the sight of Moses being wheeled out and into an ambulance. He’s got an oxygen mask on and Johnee says he looks like he’s in a lot of pain. His heart rate seemed to be 60, can that happen if he’s had a heart attack?
TBL 10×22 – “I’m getting tired just trying to get you off.” (Weigh In Recap)
Previously on The Biggest Loser the competition went to singles at last. Technically they are now all competing as individuals but realistically they’re still families and the friendships and alliances that have formed will continue. Which is to say the Jofres will continue to dominate the competition, probably.
At the singles announcement Shannan, Commando Steve and Michelle got into a bit of a fight over the alliance between the Jofre and Auvale families. Somehow that ended with Commando Steve thrashing Cliff in training, which seems like it might finally have switched the light on in Cliff’s head?
Tonight, we find out if the Jofres won the weekly challenge again. They probably did. Then it’ll be time for a weigh in, the first as singles. Which two contestants will be the first to face elimination on their efforts alone.
We left the challenge with Jodie tipping off the blocks the contestants were balancing on out on a dam lake. This sent a bunch more contestants toppling over in something of a cascade failure, one overweight person overbalancing and tipping off which unbalances the next, who unbalances the next…
Did anybody stay on the pontoons? Let’s find out! First, some more replayed footage. Including Johnee’s declaration, “I’m getting tired just trying to get you off.”
