TBL 10×29 – Will Mel Or Johnee Be Eliminated Tonight? Let’s Find Out!
Previously on The Biggest Loser we saw the inevitable happen as Johnee fell below the yellow line again. And unfortunately for Mel, she’s the other one under the line and she’s the last of those not part of the Jofale alliance.
Mel saved Daniel last week, Pablo’s kind of digging on Mel, Tenealle won’t vote out Johnee, what will the other Jofres do? Who knows!
Also tonight, Makeover Week starts. Everyone’s getting a makeover this year, it seems.
But first, the Jofres are discussing whether or not it’s time to break the alliance. Daniel’s particularly torn as he was sure he’d be going home last week, but Mel saved him. Daniel doesn’t want to think about it but Tony’s adamant they’ve got to think about their place in the game, getting all four of them to the finale.
Mel turns up for a chat with the boys and Daniel tells her straight up that he doesn’t want to vote for her, but Tony reiterates they have an alliance with the Auvales and it’s nothing against Mel.
Back at home Mel would eat her feelings a lot. At Camp she’s made new friends she’ll hope will last for a long time. Mel tells them she’s just started to realise why she needs to be there, so it’s tough.
Pablo tells us Mel’s a great person and she got this far on her own merits. Pablo tells the boys he doesn’t want to break his word, but he doesn’t want to hurt Mel’s feelings either.
Johnee and Tenealle are chatting by themselves. Johnee does want to stay, but he’s against Mel. Tenealle is indignant and says who cares about Mel. Johnee says that everyone in the house cares about her. Doesn’t sound like Tenealle does!
There’s talk of the alliance finishing up. Tenealle says if they bring it up, fine, just don’t bring it up himself, it’d be a bad move. Tenealle is getting a bit annoyed at Johnee thinking of everyone else, not thinking about himself and her. They want a baby. “We’ve tried everything and nothing’s worked.” Well, you hadn’t tried everything. You should have lost the weight sooner!
Johnee’s gone through worse, Tenealle tells him. Third time elimination or seven IVF cycles, which is harder? Johnee finally agrees to fight for his spot.
Elimination room time! After this they’ll be down to six, Fiona helpfully tells them. Being able to count is probably how she got nominated for a Logie!
Or perhaps not.
Johnee and Mel walk in arm in arm. It’s a bit grim but they’re still trying to keep things a little light.
Pablo says it’ll be the hardest decision he’s had to make. They’ve been hitting it off over the last few weeks, him and Mel. But Johnee’s the life of the party. He’d be a loss too. Rob admits the alliance might be ending tonight.
Johnee says that while it started out as an alliance, it’s transcended that. They call each other their brothers and in his culture, that really means something.
Mel needs to stay, she’s nowhere near her goal weight and needs more time. But she knows she’s not part of the alliance and so she’s not sure what will happen. She’s having a good time, for the first time in a long time. She’d like them to keep her around a bit longer.
Tenealle’s going to lose her shit if the Jofres vote Johnee out!
Tenealle’s voting first. Her vote goes to Mel, not a big surprise.
Daniel says it’s two good people at the other end of the table. One’s his brother and one saved him last week. He’s had to vote for his brother, Johnee.
Rob’s next. He says he’s given his word and he’s sticking by it. He’s voted for Mel. One more vote will send her home.
Tony says that Mel saved Daniel last week and he wouldn’t give her a penalty, he promised. But his vote is strategic. He wants to face the best competition he can, he wants to keep the stronger person. So he’s voted for Johnee, which has shocked Mel more than anyone.
The deciding vote is Pablo’s. Poor lad. He’s not going to be popular either way, is he?
Pablo says that his vote has come down to who poses the biggest threat to him and his family. He loves them both, but with the greatest regret he’s had to vote out… MEL! Awww. Heartbreak!
Pablo says Mel’s a bigger threat to him. And he gave Johnee his word. Johnee says he’s just going to pick his heart up off the ground.
Pablo tells Mel that she’s welcome in Melbourne anytime. If she still wants to move there. Oooer!
Mel, you are not the biggest loser. Goodbye for a bit, we’ll see you soon getting a makeover, probably?
Mel wasn’t speaking up for herself in the past, but she thinks she’s changed a lot since then. The new Mel is much more determined. She’s the last Pestell standing and the happiest she’s been in a long time.
Next day… Oh Shannan. Poor Shannan. Shannan gives Pablo a bit of a ribbing over giving the deciding vote to his dance partner. But it’s hard to keep Shannan down. He tells them it’s coming down to the end of the show, the last stretch to finale. He’s organised a surprise for them, he’s going to go out with a bang. Come out the front and see.
The contestants are a bit nervous because usually the surprises are more hard work and training. A car pulls up, very mysterious. Who’s inside?
Oh. It’s Adro. The winner from season 1. At least that’s who Shannan says it is. He looks like stuffed leather. Jersey Shore material. Gross.
Alison is also there. Super hot Alison, who was runner up in season 3, behind Fireman Sam.
Cam from season 9 is also there. He was originally ruled out of the show due to a heart condition after two weeks, but bounced back on the outside to lose more weight than anyone at Camp or at home. And he’s kept it off, clearly.
Shannan asks Cam if the show saved his life and he agrees, he’d be dead if not for the show.
Alison is next. Shannan met her as a huge woman back on day one of her season. Alison never even dreamt of becoming a finalist, but she learned a lot about herself. The show was a turning point for her. A lot of people came up to her afterwards and said she’d only just missed out on winning, but Alison feels like she got more than she could have ever dreamed off. Alison’s actually below her finale weight, which is somewhat unusual for former contestants. Many settle back up at a higher weight now the money doesn’t depend on it.
Alison’s brought along some of her old pants and demonstrates that she fits into just one of the legs now.
Adro’s turn. He was in season 1, which Bob and Jillian from the American show ran initially. He set the benchmark though, Shannan says. The show gave him an opportunity to change, Adro says. Nothing was going to get in his way.
Adro says he was 100kg at 10 years old, he never really knew what being thin was like. Johnee can relate to that.
Adro tells them the ones who go on to be successful are the ones who go home and do as few things from their old lifestyles as possible. Quite a few of them fell back into old habits.
Johnee is worried because their culture revolves a lot around food, lots of food at family functions. Adro says he’s Italian, you’ve got to decide you’re more important and stay away if you have to. Johnee’s not sure he’s going to manage that part of it.
Shannan says it’s great seeing them all again, it shows what they can achieve. But the most important ingredient is training. He’s going to take the young Jofre lads and Cam off for some boxing. Steve, Rob and Adro are going off together and Mish is taking Alison and Tenealle. Girl power!
Shannan and the boys are up first. He’s excited to have a chance to train them, but they eliminated Mel! There’s got to be a bit of a square up. He’s also chuffed to have Cam back.
Cameron was one of Shannan’s team last season and in the very first training session he was a walkout. Was a big dustup at the time, but Cam’s determined to show Shannan how far he’s come now. Daniel’s amazed at how fit Cameron is, he’s having trouble keeping up with him. He’ll be happy to leave the house anywhere near as fit as Cameron.
The start of the training is just working out on a heavy bag, but then he says it’s one thing hitting a bag, it’s another trying to hit a person. Time to do some sparring!
Shannan’s a pretty good boxer, he’s got some real fights under his belt these days so he’s pretty confident the boys won’t lay a serious glove on him. He gives them all a bit of a chance and a couple of taps in return each.
Pablo’s turn and he’s struggling a bit to even try and throw a punch that would connect if Shannan didn’t get out of the way but he eventually gets the boxing going. After a bunch more misses and ducks Cameron cheekily gets the other two guys to go in on Shannan as well and Shannan gamely steps up to the challenge, bobbing and weaving and returning jabs on all three. Lots of laughs all round and everyone finishes the session with grins on their faces. Cameron thinks one of those three boys will win this year if they can keep training that well.
Michelle’s got the girls for training. Alison’s a little bit scared at the thought of training with Michelle again. Mish has them on the rowing machine, tells them to push the machine away from them, like they’re pushing their old lives away from them. She says Alison is still pushing her old life away but Alison says nope, it’s gone!
Alison wants Tenealle to start thinking about the journey as more than just getting her some kids. Her own life had kind of dissolved to the point where she was just living for her kids, not herself.
Tenealle’s really enjoying working out with Alison. Says if she can do it, so can Tenealle!
Steve’s got Rob and Johnee with Adro. Adro says they’re training hard out in the rain and it’s like nothing has changed. He wants to show them that they’re where he was and he’s now where they could be in the future.
Johnee says Adro reminds him of a younger Commando. I’m not sure he is younger than Steve, is he? I think he’s just had some work done.
Adro wants them to know that the finale is really just the start of the journey. Family doesn’t go anywhere, they’re still there 10 years later. That’s the good bit about family!
And we’re all done with the “See, it works!” part of the evening. It’s time for Temptation, it seems. Fiona’s back in the house and there’s a row of kloshes set up. She reminds them that last week Tony got to send someone home and this power is even bigger, nobody is safe, nothing will be the same after today.
Under the klosh is something that will change the world as they know it. Is it a whooooooole bunch of drugs?
Everyone’s having a bit of a sniff around their klosh to try and work out what it could be. Fiona says they might not like what they see, but they can take a look now.
It’s makeup! And hairbrushes and shaving gear. And a hairdryer for Rob.
That’s right, it’s Makeover Day! Everyone’s much happier now. Tenealle says she can’t wait to be the princess she knows she can be!
Time to head into town and get your makeovers on!
They’re at Brad Ngata “Hair Direction”. I would not trust the guy that greets them, hair all slicked down and with tosser clear frames on his probably not prescription glasses.
Tenealle’s the first to get in the chair. She’s been growing her hair for six years, she doesn’t want him to chop it off. Hoenstly, Tenealle, I’d be more worried they’d do another hideous peroxide job. A tradition that started with Alison, funnily enough.
Tenealle reveals she’s been growing her hair since her wedding day. But change is good! She’s ready to feel beautiful again.
Rob’s next to be seen by Brad. He wants to take off the beard, but Rob’s worried his daughter won’t recognise him. How about some manscaping, then? Lots of shaving is going on, it’s getting pretty thin!
Mish and Steve turn up to check in on the Jofre boys. Steve was confused for a moment as he could only see Tony’s hair in a bit of an updo with a clip in it. He thought Tony was a girl!
The Jofres are hot blooded Argentinian men, Mish says, and they have a lot of hair. She wants to make sure Daniel’s hair and beard come off. Daniel’s really worried because he’s not seen himself without long hair in a long long time.
Brad hands the scissors to Mish who gleefully snips off the ends of the hair where Brad’s banded it off. Then it’s time to deal with the beard. Daniel’s really not ready for that. But Mish has the clippers and isn’t taking no for an answer. What length are the clippers set to? Doesn’t matter, it’s not going to hurt, Mish promises.
Mish is having a great time, says it’s better than training him. In the background Tenealle’s getting her makeup did. She looks absolutely ridiculous, they’re using way too much.
Rob’s not seen himself in ages. He’s lost 40kg since he last saw himself in the mirror. There’s no mirrors at Camp, apparently. No wonder they all end up with beards!
Mish pulls the cover off the mirror and he still has a beard, but not the weird trucker style ‘stache anymore. It’s even all over for a change.
Steve gets to reveal the mirror for Tenealle. She’s scared, but… go!
Nope. Let’s go catch up with Mel instead. Five weeks later and she’s looking healthier and enjoying doing some boxing with her personal trainer. Whe she goes out with her friends she looks for the healthy options on menues and stuff.
Mel’s shocked at her weigh in tape from the first day. She was a size 24-26 before coming on the show, now she’s down to 18-20. And she’s hoping Pablo will like what he sees at finale. It’s so on!
Tomorrow night the contestants strut their stuff on the catwalk to the delight of their trainers, Fiona and their loved ones, of course.
And for the first time ever the eliminated contestants will also get their very own makeovers and catwalk. They’re teasing a marriage proposal for tomorrow night but the TV guide says that’s coming on Sunday, so don’t get too excited. Save some for Sunday!
