TBL 10×28 – Weigh In Night! Who Hasn’t Lost Enough Chub?

Previously on The Biggest Loser Cliff was sent home in a shock elimination after Tony won at Temptation.

The weekly challenge saw contestants struggling to build rafts capable of travelling a couple hundred metres on a calm lake. New host Fiona did this same challenge in her time on the show, taking first place alongside… that guy. Whatsisname. Yeah.

Tonight the paddling of the rafts continues. Daniel’s rapidly catching up to Tony, with Tenealle bringing up the rear. Nobody else has even made it to the water yet. I’m not sure Mel will even finish a raft before someone makes it back again.

Daniel’s raft looked very rickety on dry land but it’s a beast out on the water, taking Daniel past Tony with ease. Rob keeps telling us how amazed he was that Daniel’s raft held together. Not much faith in his nephew!

Daniel is indeed the first to get back to shore and drags his raft back over the line, gaining a 1kg advantage at the next weigh in. So long as he doesn’t gain weight he should be safe, if not on top of the leaderboard this week.

Back at Camp and it’s bucketing with rain. And Johnee feels sad. He’s thinking it’s no longer worth it and he’d rather go home. Tenealle’s very worried because it’s not like him to be down, something must be wrong. She tells Rob Johnee’s giving up and Rob says he’s noticed but hasn’t wanted to say anything, didn’t want to add to his troubles.

It’s getting down to not many people left, Rob says. Only Mel is left of the other teams and they want to make sure it’s down to the Jofres and Auvales only. Rob tells Tenealle that Johnee’s like another brother and so he’ll have a chat to him, try and get him to come round.

Rob tells Johnee they’re all in it together but Johnee says it’s not worth it anymore. Tenealle tells us that Johnee only gets like this if he’s sick or injured. Rob reminds Johnee he came on the show to get healthy, they don’t want him to go home, they won’t let him. Moses went home but they’re still there.

Johnee’s got many injuries and now Moses has gone home and Johnee misses him.

Johnee doesn’t want to even go for a walk with Rob to have a chat, he’s just sitting around in his hoodie looking sad. Aww.

Last chance training! It’s not only Mel’s neck on the line this week, Shannan’s in danger of going home like Tiff, so he’s pulling out all the stops in training. Last week she pulled a good number and he’s hoping she can do it again.

Today in training, Mel’s going to run. And run and run and run. Okay? Mel says okay. A few weeks ago Mel couldn’t even get on a treadmill without freaking out. Today she’s set the goal of running for five minutes straight. Shannan really wants her to make it, not fail and get in a negative headspace. So he’s pleased when she gets through it unscathed. He asks her how she felt when he said five minutes and she was nervous. She couldn’t’ve done that back at the start, everything was hard for her. Even getting up stairs was a challenge for her.

A little light springs into Shannan’s eyes. So much for the training session he had planned, he takes her out to a set of stairs and has her do ten sets, up and down. Go Rocky!

Mel was seen as the weak link back at the start. She was jealous of both her sisters before, they have what she doesn’t. Ali has a daughter and Jodie has a partner. Mel was being held back by her size, didn’t have the confidence with men. But she’ll have the confidence to put her hat back in the ring now, she tells Shannan. She says it’s important to love yourself before you can love someone else. Shannan’s going to be devastated if Mel’s not above the yellow line this week.

Jofres are training already as Michelle arrives. Daniel’s still anxious after putting weight on last week.

Mish has turned up with a weight vest. And is definitely starting to get a belly. Maybe? I think so. Scary fit baby on the way!

The weight vests are for the boys to put on, according to how much weight they’ve lost since coming on the show. They’re all shocked at how heavy the vests are. Rob wonders how he even walked around like that before. They’re all obviously feeling the strain as they start exercising again. Mish reminds them they’d wake up like that every day and do all the normal things they had to do and then go to bed a bit heavier each time.

She points out the pictures on the walls, showing them where they were just a few weeks ago.

They’ve been at the bad end of the scales and now they’ve learnt from it, they’re tougher, stronger, more resilient than ever.

Rob’s promised that if he gets to 99kg he’ll walk down the aisle with his partner at last.

Michelle says she’ll see them all at weigh in where they will all be above the yellow line. We’ll see!

Time for Johnee and Tenealle’s session with Commando Steve. Johnee’s still struggling to find reasons to stay. Moses left and Johnee’s health took a downturn. This is the first chance he’s had to train with Steve all week. But he’s got to want to stick around.

Johnee just wants to quit, he doesn’t like the feeling of everything coming at him and he can’t deal with it. Has he talked to anyone about this, Steve asks. Tenealle knows, Johnee says, but she’ll just tell him to harden up. She married a man, not a wimp!

Tenealle says Johnee’s lost sight of why they came on the show. They need to lose weight so they can have kids and be healthy. Johnee’s in a fight for his life, he needs to get his head right so he doesn’t end up dead. Steve tells Johnee his wife needs him, his family and community needs him to do this. Johnee starts to get into it at last, he tells us it’s because he’s realising he’s not doing it by himself.

Steve thinks the end of the training session was going a lot better and he’s hopeful both his contestants will make it through the weigh in.

And now Mel and Pablo are having a dance lesson together. Pablo thinks Mel is great, she’s fun to be around, so he’s teaching her some dance moves. Pablo tells us it was a little awkward, but so long as Mel’s happy and having fun that’s all that matters. Mel finds Pablo to be nice and fun to be around. Pablo says Mel is always giggling and laughing, it’s awesome. They’re just good friends though, Mel insists. Mmmhmmm. That’s why Fiona is currently squeeing all over Twitter!

Time for weigh in! Steve’s not convinced Johnee’s done enough. Shannan’s worried about Mel but Mel’s hopeful that getting closer to the Jofres might help her if it comes down to that.

No more Tiff at the weigh in, but she’s still in the little ad break bits. She’ll be back for the makeovers that are coming up this week though…

Only seven contestants left. Must nearly be time for a second chance draw, if there’s going to be one?

Johnee’s nervous before weighing in. Too many injuries and interruptions.

Johnee Previous: 178.4kg
Johnee Now: 174.7kg
Johnee Loss: 3.7kg
Johnee Percentage: 2.07%

Not a huge result, but a good one with so many injuries and drama. Johnee’s very relieved, he was worried he might have put weight on. Steve tells us Johnee would have used the injuries as an excuse in the past but he’s coming to realise there’s no way around it, challenges will come up and you’ve got to deal with them.

Rob’s next. He was disappointed with his number last week, but this week he’ll be happy as he’s put in a good effort this week.

Rob Previous: 117.8kg
Rob Now: 113.1kg
Rob Loss: 4.7kg
Rob Percentage: 3.99%

Very nice loss from Rob and he’s stoked. He’s doing it for Amelia, his daughter. 13’s his lucky number so he wanted to get there, his daughter was born on a 13th too. He can’t wait to see his fiance and his daughter again, but hopefully it’ll be a couple weeks away yet.

Pablo Previous: 122.1kg
Pablo Now: 119.2kg
Pablo Loss: 2.9kg
Pablo Percentage: 2.38%

Not safe, but a decent result. He’s in the teens again for the first time, ever. Or at least since he was 16, he admits after a laugh from Fiona.

Mel looks quite pleased with his result too. OOOH.

Tony Previous: 97.4kg
Tony Now: 94.7kg
Tony Loss: 2.7kg
Tony Percentage: 2.77%

Safe! And he’s very happy with his result. They’ve been working hard all week. He’s lost 35kg so far. He says he was at his lowest point before coming on the show. He used to be very sociable, he used to go out all the time, but he hadn’t been. He’s happy to be out of that hole he was in.

Mish is a bit worried because Daniel’s still to weigh in and that might be a bad sign. He does have a 1kg weight advantage and did gain weight last week, but you never know.

Daniel Previous: 100.1kg
Daniel Now: 96kg
Daniel Loss: 4.1kg + 1kg
Daniel Percentage: 5.09%

Huge result. Well in the lead, as expected. And he’s back under 100kg!

Johnee’s still at the bottom of the leaderboard and Steve’s really worried. He needs to stay, he was the biggest competitor.

Mel needs 3.1kg to beat Pablo and stay safe. She’s a bit nervous, she had a big week last week…

Mel Previous: 128kg
Mel Now: 125.9kg
Mel Loss: 2.1kg
Mel Percentage: 1.64%

Oh dear. Already below the line, will definitely face elimination. Pablo looks sad, aww. Mel says she’s improved a lot while being there and so if she does go home it’ll be the new Mel, not the old one. Shannan says she’s gotten stronger and stronger as the competition has gone on and she’s gotten more and more likeable. He’s sure the others would agree. Her family saw her as the weak link but she’s the last one standing. There’s been a big change in her. She’s even got makeup on today, Shannan says. What’s changed? She’s a happier person now. More than that, Shannan says. What else do you like about yourself? She’s caring, friendly, good listener. Tenealle pipes up with, “Fun!” The others all agree, say she’s so much fun and energetic. Tenealle also slyly adds she’s a good dancer. Heh.

Shannan’s hoping the friendships Mel’s formed will save her. She’s pretty much doomed though as she’ll be under the line with Johnee or Tenealle.

Tenealle’s turn. She needs at least 2.3kg to beat Johnee, of all people, and stay safe above the yellow line. She’s worried, she doesn’t want to push Johnee below the line.

Tenealle Previous: 110.6kg
Tenealle Now: 108.3kg
Tenealle Loss: 2.3kg
Tenealle Percentage: 2.08%

Tenealle is safe above the yellow line by the narrowest of margins. She’s worried, Johnee really needs to be there and he’s overcome a lot this week. She’s not ready to deal with him potentially going home.

Not sure she really needs to be worried. Unless Pablo convinces the others to save his girlfriend!

Daniel is once again the biggest loser of the week, even without his weight advantage. So well done Daniel!

Mel and Johnee will face elimination tomorrow night. Mel’s the only one outside the Jofale alliance, added to everyone’s sympathy for Johnee’s plight. Daniel’s in a tough spot as well as Mel saved him at elimination last week.

Going to be a tough elimination either way. Pablo says they’re both his friends and it’ll be hard to end someone’s journey. Tony says the alliance has to be close to the end now as the competition is winding up. It might be time to break it at last.

Tomorrow night! Will the Jofres save Mel. Daniel looks to be struggling to be talked into voting out Mel and it looks like Pablo will have the deciding vote? So that’s going to be interesting!

And then… MAKEOVER DAY! WOOOOOOOOOO! Who are we most looking forward to seeing? Remember, some or all of the eliminated contestants are also getting a makeover this year!
