TBL 10×25 – And The Biggest Gainer Of The Week Is…
Previously on The Biggest Loser Moses fainted and was taken off to hospital in an ambulance. It all looked very dire but it turned out it wasn’t really that serious.
The weekly challenge was being held in conjunction with the personal training academy Commando Steve’s the public face of, the Sage Institute. It involved a bunch of dragging tires around and slamming balls down and running up and down stairs.
And let’s not forget poor old Cliff who had to weigh in 48 hours early thanks to Pablo’s victory in The Game. But as Mr Voiceover Man reveals at the start of the show, someone’s going to put on weight at this week’s weigh-in. And if you’ve checked the TV guide you’ll already know who that will be!
I’ll leave off revealing it too early. You’ll have to read on… or skip to the end!
As the show gets going again we’re treated to replayed footage of the start of the fourth round. Cliff, Rob, Daniel and Tony competing to carry sandbags up the top of a flight of stairs. It’s looking like Rob’s going to just pip Cliff to the finish line. Cliff’s last to finish, but he does manage to finish the race. He’s out of the competition now and it’s just three Jofres left for the fifth round.
The fifth round is pushing a 40kg weighted sled 50 metres down the raceway. Last one to get to the end will be out. Tony’s taken a huge lead in the first lap. Rob manages to go past Daniel, but then they’ve got to turn the sled around and push it back again. Daniel’s way in the back while Rob is making good ground on Tony. Both push hard to the end but it’s Rob to the finish line first this time.
What really matters though is that Daniel’s now out. Final round is between Rob and Tony. Who’s the fittest?
Final round is a treadmill challenge. Steve says Rob’s got age and experience on his side while Tony’s got conditioning on his.
The treadmill starts off at a brisk walking pace, 6.5km/h. First bump is up to 7km/h, then 7.5km/h. Tony says he’d never have been able to do that two months ago, he’d have to sprint to go that fast.
Rob’s first to break into a jog around the 7.5km/h mark but Tony’s having to pick it up as the speed turns up to 8. They’re up to 9 and Tony is amazed Rob is still going, he thought it might be fairly easy.
Johnee tells us that Tony reminds him of a super athlete and I guess relatively speaking…
Tony’s encouraging Rob to hang in there, even though he knows he’s not got much left in him. As they push to an impressive 12km/h Rob finally has to give in as his shoulders and neck are hurting too much. Tony hopes he’s as fit as Rob at Rob’s age. We hope you’re fitter, Tony!
Tony recalls meeting Michelle for the first time. He had no responsibilities, was on cruise control, eating 6,000 calories a day. And now he’s won a full scholarship for a Sage fitness diploma. He’d previously been a personal trainer so he’s really looking forward to getting back in and getting the diploma he didn’t get before.
Cliff’s having a rough time back at Camp as he’s worried he’ll be falling under the yellow line at weigh in thanks to his small loss at the early weigh in. At least he doesn’t have to do last chance training this week!
Shannan’s just got Mel for last chance training. Mel’s been living in the shadow of her sisters and the rest of the family all her life and she was shattered by Jodie being eliminated last week. Shannan tells us Mel now needs to learn to speak up, find her confidence and be responsible for herself. If she’s going to keep her weight under control in the long term she needs to be self sufficient.
Shannan’s got her on the treadmill again today, he wants to show her how far she’s come after some pretty spectacular falls before. His goal today is to find out what’s going on in Mel’s head, try and motivate her to step out of the shadow of the rest of her family. Mel says Jodie and Ali have done a lot of the talking in the past, because they’re the loud ones. Mel doesn’t really like it and Shannan says now’s her chance. And she starts to verbalise at last! She’s afraid of failing, she’s sick of it. She’s firing up in training and Shannan’s very pleased.
But he’s hoping she can survive the elimination as he thinks she needs at least one more week to really get her head around the changes she needs to make in her life. He tells her he hopes she’s done enough to stay above the line.
Moses isn’t looking forward to weigh in as he’s been held back by illness. He’s feeling lethargic, even though he’s back at Camp. Johnee’s also injured both his achilles tendons, so he’s probably not done enough training either. Moses is pretty worried about both of them, but they’re hopeful that with Cliff’s low number due to the early weigh in that they’ll at least be under the line with him.
But it’s time for training! So they’re with Commando Steve and he’s going to try and get them back on track mentally. He reminds them they’ve only got to beat Cliff’s 0.4kg.
Tenealle’s continuing to train well, much to Steve’s delight. She tells us she’s finding she can work out harder now and not rely on the boys.
Moses is working out on a spinbike, not going all out but he’s keeping an eye on Johnee and encouraging him to greater efforts along the way. Steve’s happy with the workout overall, but he’s concerned nevertheless. He’s hoping either Mel or one of the Jofres will be below the line with Cliff.
Speaking of the Jofres, Mish has her boys out on the sandpit again. Pretty simple workout today, run back and forth, do squats, do some pushups, do some more running. Sometimes simple is best!
The Jofres have been dominating the game, as we’re shown in a bunch of replayed footage. Mish is very happy with her team and their progress through the game. They’ve made it further than any full team has even done before and she thinks there’s no reason they can’t make it all the way to the finals.
I can think of a reason. One of them could put on weight!
They’re confident they’ve put enough work in this week though, they’re sure they can at least stay above Cliff and thus be safe once again.
And now it’s time for the weigh in!
This week at the weigh in the trainers are on one side and the contestants are on the other. I guess to make Shannan and Tiff look a bit less sad!
Oh well, time to see who has put on weight and saved Cliff from elimination!
Rob’s first to go up and he’s confident he’s got Cliff smashed. He’s done over 100km walking, running or jogging, apparently.
Rob Previous: 119kg
Rob Now: 117.8kg
Rob Loss: 1.5kg
Rob Percentage: 1.26%
It’s not a great result but it’s enough to get him safely above Cliff. Rob’s unimpressed with the number.
Tiff knows Johnee’s been injured all week and feeling unwell, but she thinks if Cliff can beat anyone it’ll be Johnee.
Johnee Previous: 178.9kg
Johnee Now: 178.4kg
Johnee Loss: 0.5kg
Johnee Percentage: 0.28%
That’s woeful. He’s just barely pipped Cliff and he’s had an extra two days! Rob feels bad for him but is also relieved as he’s not definitely safe himself.
Tony Previous: 98.4kg
Tony Now: 97.4kg
Tony Loss: 1kg
Tony Percentage: 1.02%
Not a great loss, but it’s enough to get him to safety as well. Tony’s pleased but is hoping his brothers are also safe.
Tenealle Previous: 111.6kg
Tenealle Now: 110.6kg
Tenealle Loss: 1kg
Tenealle Percentage: 0.9%
Another small number and she says, “Mother-beeeeep!” She thought she’d had a good week. But she’s safe, too!
Pablo’s not super confident before getting on the scales as the numbers haven’t been great tonight. But it’s his turn!
Pablo Previous: 124.4kg
Pablo Now: 122.1kg
Pablo Loss: 2.3kg
Pablo Percentage: 1.85%
Ordinarily not a great result, but this week it’s put him right atop the leaderboard.
Cliff’s sinking lower and lower and Tiff’s getting very nervous.
Mel’s turn. Mel has had a good week in terms of training, Shannan says. It’s helped a lot that she’s been getting up and training every day, she’s started to learn the lessons that will serve her well. Shannan’s worried nonetheless, as he’s out of contestants and will have to go home as well if Mel gets eliminated.
Mel Previous: 132.3kg
Mel Now: 128kg
Mel Loss: 4.3kg
Mel Percentage: 3.25%
Wow, great result from Mel! She’s safe from elimination and is currently in the lead. She can barely believe it, she thought she’d worked hard enough but you never know. Fiona asks her what she’s done different this week and Shannan knows – she’s started having fun again! And the result is a fair representation of the work she’s put in.
Moses’ turn. He’s had a rough week, not been able to train much. But how much weight could he really have put on, it’s not like he’s been eating Maccas every night?
Moses Previous: 98.5kg
Moses Now: 99.3kg
Moses GAIN: 0.8kg
Moses GAIN Percentage: 0.81%
He’s doomed. DOOMED! Definitely below the yellow line, only one person left to weigh in. First time this season someone’s put weight on and Steve says it’s not through any fault of Moses’, he’s not been able to train properly and that’s about what you’d expect to happen. Moses says he’ll fix it though.
Cliff’s kind of excited, because he’s still above the yellow line right now. Depending how Daniel goes… Daniel’s been biggest loser on a number of occasions. He’ll need at least 300 grams to stay safe, which ought to be easy. Right?
The music makes me think maybe not…
Daniel Previous: 99.8kg
Daniel Now: 100.1kg
Daniel GAIN: 0.3kg
Daniel GAIN Percentage: 0.3%
Tony says it’s a load of crap as the number comes up. Daniel says he loves jokes, jokes are funny. Not sure he’s taking this as seriously as perhaps he should be.
Everyone’s in utter shock at Daniel gaining weight. Cliff’s stoked he’s safe.
Daniel says sometimes you put weight back on. Mish says nobody wants to put weight on while they’re on The Biggest Loser. The Jofres are shocked and Daniel’s a bit pissed as he’s trying to stay competitive.
Moses and Daniel will face elimination. The first Jofre/Auvale elimination.
But before they do anything about elimination it’s time to congratulate the biggest loser of the week – MEL! Shannan’s chuffed, says her family saw her as the weak link in the family yet here she is, winning the biggest loser of the week.
The Jofres aren’t handling the loss too well and Shannan’s not too impressed. Might have been a bit more to that but they’ve cut it and moved on.
Moses is the glue that holds the Auvales together so Commando Steve’s worried. Mish thinks it’ll be a Jofre that goes home though, they’d be crazy not to finally break the Jofre’s stranglehold on everything.
Tomorrow night, elimination! Cliff and Mel have votes that will actually tip the balance, so it could be a bit exciting in the elimination room. Who do we think they’ll send home?
Also, The Game is a Temptation thing again. The prize is going to be pretty amazing, but will they still be looking to take Temptation at this stage…?
