TBL 10×21 – La Temptation! Le French Patisserie! *french noises*
Previously on The Biggest Loser Sam was sent home from the elimination room after the Auvale-Jofre alliance held strong. This ruffled feathers, particularly Shannan’s, and resulted in Cliff having a very tough training session with Commando Steve.
And it might actually have done some good for Cliff. We’ll see.
The competition has moved to singles, technically, but expect a lot of the old rivalries and alliances to still be in play going forward.
Such as tonight, in The Game, with Temptation standing between contestants and a potential reward of some kind. The old Jofre-Auvale alliance are all partaking, it seems. Whether Cliff, Jodie and Mel will also cave in remained to be seen.
Later, after The Game is won and a training session is done, the weekly challenge involves standing on individual platforms way out on a lake. Last man standing will win… something?
Quite a bit of replayed footage at the start of this episode. We see the setup of Temptation all over again. The alliance has all stepped forward to take their chances. Cliff is asked if he’s in or out and he says he’s out, he thinks he made a breakthrough today in Steve’s training session. Cliff tells us his actions are going to speak louder than words from here on in.
Mel and Jodie are also out. Calories, they’re not risking it. Good girls. Make the alliance pork out if you can!
And, as I guessed yesterday, they are indeed walking on the French flag to get at the pastries. That’s not okay, guys. It’s disrespectful. I know we bag the French a bit, but even so.
Anyway, Tony’s “strategy” is to eat the high calorie foods. That makes no sense. 392 calories for a raisin snail, but he’s hoping a key will be under a big calorie item rather than one of the lesser calorie ones. There may indeed be one under each kind of pastry but going straight for the highest calorie option seems particularly silly.
Cliff’s proud of sitting out and he’s happy he gets to watch everyone else stuff their face.
Daniel’s eating a 275 calorie chocolate eclair. So they’re not even bringing down their chances by all going for the same type?! Daniel says he hasn’t had sugar since starting the journey but I think he may have had a Temptation before? Can’t remember.
He knows Michelle won’t be happy, but he gets to look under his plate… where there’s no key. Cliff thinks they don’t even want the power, they just want to eat. Rob seemingly confirms it by asking for another pastry, he doesn’t even want to look for a key.
He doesn’t get a key anyway. Nor does Pablo, it seems. Cliff sees “his” $20,000 getting closer and closer.
Johnee’s got the right idea, figures it’s best to go for a low calorie pastry. Best for him and his family. He thought his family was on the same page but Tenealle goes for a chocolate eclair. We see Johnee in the background looking horrified. They can’t afford all those extra calories, he thinks it’s crazy. Cliff’s hoping they just keep going.
Tenealle tells us chocolate eclairs are her favourite food, but now it doesn’t taste as good as it used to. Just tastes grainy and sugary.
Johnee then tells us he knows Moses will make the right choice… Moses grabs an eclair as well. Oh dear.
Moses seems to be quite enjoying his. Cliff’s looking on with delight, they’re going to have so many extra calories to burn off, it could take days!
Johnee’s turn. He’s trying to lead by example, taking a 62 calorie fruit tart. He tells us that it’s so low calorie he could eat 6 for the same amount of calories as a raisin snail.
So everyone’s eaten once and there’s still no key.
The Jofres have finally twigged and are eating the fruit tarts for the second round. Tenealle does as well. They’re still eating and eating without finding a key. The three who’re sitting out are realising they made a very good decision indeed.
Rob’s having another vanilla slice, after already having one before. He seems to just want to eat more vanilla slices. He’s quite enjoying them, it seems! He eats the whole slice and then starts walking back to the waiting line… everyone laughs and reminds him he needs to check for a key! No key, anyway.
And I’ve just noticed Johnee seems to have had a haircut in the side bit. But it’s too soon for makeovers?
Johnee thinks the key is likely to be under a raisin snail because they’re the best way to conceal the key, plus it’s more likely they put them under a big ticket item that he doesn’t like and… yeah, he’s eating one of those now. And is there a key under there? Cliff doesn’t care, he’s having a great time!
Johnee checks under his plate after polishing his raisin snail off and at last the key is found! They all ate way too many calories though. The trainers are going to kill them.
The reward is for Johnee’s eyes only. Everyone else needs to piss off back to the main house.
Johnee looks excited to see what’s in the box, but we’re going to an ad break before we get to see. Aww.
Inside the case is a 1kg weight penalty he has to give to another contestant. So, Cliff. Right? It’s gunna be Cliff.
Johnee knows Cliff’s going to know it’ll be going to him, but he’s okay with being the bad guy.
Back out in the lounge room Tony asks why the others didn’t play and Jodie says they simply didn’t want to eat the calories.
Cliff’s pretty sure he’ll be targeted if there’s a penalty coming and everyone kind of quietly agrees.
Johnee finally arrives and announces it’s a 1kg weight penalty. It’s a big decision, he says, because it could make the difference between winning or not winning $20,000. He wants to have a chat with his wife and Moses before deciding, but we’re probably not going to hear anything that surprising, are we?
Johnee knows Cliff’s skipped Temptation and trained hard so they’re expecting a big number from him. He puts to Tenealle that they might be better off giving it to one of the blue girls to try and push them below the line to try and ensure Tenealle’s safety. He’s worried that she might fall under due to the extra calories in Temptation.
Johnee’s hoping to get inside Jodie’s head nice and early in the week, but Tenealle doesn’t like the idea of sending someone below the line. Tenealle’s thinking the boys have no faith in her but they’re just pointing out she’s down around the percentage of the girls and they’ve still got more weight to lose. Johnee says if Tenealle wants him to, he’ll give it to Cliff instead. That strategy will make it easier for Johnee to possibly win the money and that money would help them have a baby, and that’s her main weakness. She wants a baby!
Time for the decision! Johnee’s giving it to someone who he believes will be a threat, and his brother and wife tried to talk him out of this, he’s giving the 1kg penalty to Jodie. The yellow line is more of a threat to their success than the potential for winning the money.
The Jofres are looking a bit surprised. Jodie has realised it’s on her because he’s hoping to save Tenealle from being below the line. And she’s right! She tells us that Johnee’s going to pay for it, he’ll be below the line himself. Unless you’re going to spike his food I don’t see that happening.
Time for training. Auvales have to reveal they’ve taken Temptation to Steve. Worst news he can get from his team, he says. So today they’re going to go really hard in training to make up for it. 20 minutes, all out, everything they’ve got, no breaks between exercises. He’s hoping to make them think twice about taking Temptation in the future.
Steve’s also spurring them on by telling them about how hard Cliff trained yesterday and how much weight he’s still got to lose. He tells us he probably could have got his point about Temptation across in a different way, but it worked. Cue shot of Johnee puking into the bushes. Eww!
Shannan’s thrilled his girls didn’t take Temptation this week. He knows cakes and pastries are a weakness for them, but they didn’t do it. Mel says she’s strong! Shannan first thinks it’s a 1kg advantage she’s got, but Jodie says no it’s a penalty. Because they think she’s a threat. Shannan snorts at that.
Jodie’s not going to let it get her down though, she thinks she can stay above the line anyway. She’s going to rise up and take them on and try to win the prize anyway. Shannan hangs the penalty medallion up on a whiteboard and tells Jodie that any time she feels tired, look at that and push on.
Shannan tells them he’s very proud of them both, Jodie in particular. First four weeks she’d argue over every little thing and be very aggressive but she didn’t go off her rocker over getting the penalty. It’s good to have that strength and control back, she confirms to Shannan. They’ve tried to wind her up, make her lose control, but secretly she had the strength all along.
Jodie’s lifting weights and working really well and Shannan says it’s great how calm she is and how much better it is putting all that angry energy into her training instead.
Shannan tells us that Jodie’s even leading the way in training, Mel’s been the powerhouse up till now but Jodie’s really kicking it into high gear.
Michelle’s got her boys doing a “fair whack of cardio” in today’s session to help them burn off all the extra calories. There’s a weigh in to win and while they’re not there to win the money, it’d be nice if they could manage to get the $20,000 for the biggest loser of the week. Rob says their eyes are on the bigger prize and if they can manage to win this week ahead of everyone else the other teams will crack.
Poor Tiff is down to just Cliff. She thinks they were trying to get to him by eliminating the girls each week. Cliff’s feeling quite good though, he had a good session with Commando Steve and he didn’t take Temptation. And Tiff’s going to have more time to focus just on him. And she’s not letting up today, just keeps pushing him harder, shout if he has to, don’t give up.
Cliff’s looking like he might give up on te treadmill but Tiff’s telling him not to give up, hang in there no matter what. Nobody to hide behind this week, there’s just him and his training.
Tiff knows Cliff’s having a breakthrough this week. They were questioning his manhood this week, man up to the Commando. Cliff always felt he was a man but he thinks he’s shown it now with a session with Steve. And he’s not there to please the other contestants anyway, he’s there to take out the competition for all of them, all five of them. This is his week, Tiff says. Nothing holding him back now.
And now it’s time for a challenge. It’s not a lake, it’s a dam. The floating plank things are set up on a dam. I hope that’s not drinking water, nobody’s going to want it after a bunch of sweaty fat people have been stewing in it!
Fiona’s there to welcome them to their first challenge as singles. It’s a simple challenge – be last person standing. There’s three sections of the block. Starting on green, it’s the widest and easiest bit to stand on. If you’re still standing after 20 minutes you move up to the much smaller, more difficult yellow section. Then the red section, after another 20 minutes I guess?
The pontoon the platforms are on are not at all stable, Fiona informs them.
But they’ll want to win, because the winner will get a 1kg weight advantage at the weigh in. Jodie’s very excited, she’s hoping she can pull off a win and counteract her penalty. Fairly unlikely, I would think.
Jodie’s struggling to even get onto the green platform. Cliff says he’s got good sea legs so he’s not worried.
Johnee’s trying to encourage her but she’s back to thinking he’s trying to screw her over, trying to put her off by talking constantly to her. Eventually Pablo shuffles across and supports her while she gets her feet onto the platform. Not sure how she’s going to get onto the yellow one by herself! Pablo’s a gentleman, he says, he had to help.
Ready, set, go… Johnee’s immediately trying to shake the whole pontoon to try and get someone to fall off. He’s bouncing up and down like a maniac. The only thing bouncing more are his gigantic manboobs.
After an ad break it seems they’ve all made it to the 20 minute mark? Jodie thinks Johnee’s being mean by trying to shake them off, but she’s determined not to let him win. She wants the advantage.
Mel’s trying to get up on the yellow block but she slips a bit on the way up and goes off the front.
Jodie’s not been able to get up on the yellow block so she decides she may as well jump off. She pushes off the blocks and into the water, causing Pablo and Johnee to overbalance and tip themselves in, which causes another couple of contestants to also fall in. Oh dear!
Sunday night, who is still standing, anyone? Or are they all going in?
Rob gets some extra motivation at last chance training – ultrasound pictures of his baby, awwwwww!
Then it’s time for the very first weigh in as singles. Who’ll win the $20,000 and who’ll be below the yellow line?
And who’s going to require an ambulance after possibly pushing themselves too far? Get your bets in now! My money’s on Cliff.
