TBL 10×19 – Pestell Power! (Weigh-In Recap)
Previously on The Jofre Show we saw some kind of challenge that the Jofres won at and now have an advantage over blah blah blah. The Biggest Loser Families is becoming a bit predictable, might be time to screw the Jofres over with something they can’t win?
Or is the competition fixed so Michelle’s team wins because she has a baby on the way and babies are super expensive…
Speaking of which, tonight the trainers will be bickering among themselves again, it seems. Commando Steve and Michelle can’t help it if they picked the better teams, Shannan!
Cliff and Sam, the remaining Hailwoods, have spent the latter half of the week back at home arguing with most recent evictee Sylvia.
But first we have to resolve the challenge, which the Jofres actually aren’t winning. Sort of, as Tony accidentally jammed up the Pestell’s box of wood. They’re supposed to be slipping bits of wood they’ve sawed off into a clear fronted box. First box to get filled means that team is out of the challenge.
The Pestells have been popping all their blocks into the Jofre box while both Jofres and Auvales were piling blocks into the Pestell one. When we left them on Tuesday Tony had said they were hammering away for about twenty minutes, but Johnee and Rob have finally got two bigger pieces of wood to hammer the stuck bit of wood into the box entirely. So the Pestell’s box can be filled up once again, but they’ve done a pretty good job at filling up the Jofre box. Maybe the Auvales have a chance to knock them off?
The Pestells are a little bummed it wasn’t a fair competition, but they never gave up. You’ve got to give them a bunch of credit for that as a few weeks ago they probably wouldn’t even have started!
The Jofres are fighting hard to keep in the competition, they really want the 2kg weight advantage at the next weigh in. Alliance or not, friends or not, the Jofres don’t want to be below the line. Tony’s running hard up and down the hill and they’re making a comeback, but Moses thinks they’re about 3 or 4 blocks away. But the boxes really look like it’s a bit further apart than that…
Johnee’s madly sawing away at blocks to give to Moses, Tony’s running madly up the hill… and the Auvales have taken it out! And they’re pretty excited. Johnee says it’s only the beginning of the black rain. Or reign? Rein?
Jofres were only 3 blocks short in the end and they’re wondering what they’re going to tell Michelle. I don’t think Michelle’s going to care, so long as you’ve been doing the workouts and eating the right foods?
Mish has a “torture chamber” set up out on the sandpit. The boys arrive and have to tell her they didn’t win at the challenge and Mish pulls a face.
Mish asks them if the other teams ganged up on them or something but they admit that’s not what happened, the other teams just put in a really good effort. 2kg weight advantage is not their’s, time to work out like their necks are on the chopping block.
Back home with the Hailwoods we’re seeing them dealing with temptations and trying to train at home. They know the red team sent them home to disadvantage them, not to help them by letting them see their daughter.
Cliff and Sam open their cupboards to see all the leftover chocolate and candy and chips. All the leftover unlabelled Coke, Fanta and Lift goes down the drain. They have distinctive bottle shapes so you can’t just remove the labels! They don’t want to leave any temptation in the house. Sam asks Cliff if he’s tempted but he says no. They both have a smell of the chocolate before chucking it away though!
Neither of them would touch any of it anymore though. They’ve learned how bad all the food was for them thanks to being at Camp Biggest Loser. They’re going to live a lot more out of the fridge, fresh not processed, etc.
Time for the Auvales to relay the good news to trainer Commando Steve. He’s quite pleased they’ve got an advantage for themselves for a change. It’s been a tumultuous week, very full of the feels. But they know they’ve got to come together as a team and be accountable to themselves if they want to get above the line.
Commando Steve says a little birdy told him it’s Johnee’s birthday. The big 3-8. Jesus, he’s 38? Steve promises him the most active birthday he’s ever had. One of the first exercises is to try and do 38 pushups in 60 seconds. He’s not even doing real pushups, it’s more like a bit of a yoga bend pushup, with his knees being the rear support. Seems Johnee’s picked up an injury as well as he’s wearing one of those supportive boots on his left leg. What a birthday!
Johnee’s determined to turn his life around, he’s feeling a lot more positive about his life.
Commando Steve says it feels fantastic to have a team that’s really engaged in getting their lives together. As they’re doing 38 squats Tenealle grunts out that she wishes he was younger. Heh.
As they’re walking off and chatting after training they go past the pool and Steve gives him a playful light push towards the pool. Johnee laughs as Steve barely budges him but then Moses gives him a huge shove and he’s into the water! He gets back up and out and gives Steve a big wet hug. Silly buggers.
Now it’s time for a Jofre training session. Haven’t seen one of those in a while. Maybe they’re actually in trouble this week, at last? Mish knows it’s easy to become complacent, getting out front and taking your foot off the accelerator. She doesn’t want them to become cocky, but it’s definitely too late for that Mish!
Daniel hurt his knee a bit in training with the Waratahs, so it’s impacted his training for the rest of the week but he’s still fairly confident. It’s not stopping him from doing the burpies Mish has set for them. The Jofres love burpies, it’s a joy, isn’t it, Mish asks us.
No rest for the Jofres, the Hailwoods are on their way back to Camp right now. The Auvales have a 2kg weight advantage so they’ll probably be above the line, leaving only one spot for the Jofres. Everyone’s counting out the Pestells, it seems?
Cliff and Sam have been doing PT sessions twice a day plus a lot of solo workouts and a lot of walking around. They haven’t been at Camp but their weightloss is still in their control, Cliff says.
Cliff tells us it’s a huge advantage getting to go home and see their daughter, a good reminder of why they’re doing the show at all. Sam feels like they’ve pushed to a new level this week and they’re in a much better place mentally.
Now some time with the Pestells. Both girls are on the treadmills and Jodie’s even managed to get straight on without drama. They’ve had a massive transformation, mentally, Shannan says.
Jodie’s previous best on the treadmill was around 4km/hr, now she’s up to 8.5 so she’s improved 100%. Shannan then tells her it’s time to bump it up to 9.
Shannan reminds us that Jodie was one of the most pig headed contestants he’s ever had to try and train in the earlier weeks. He can tell she’s not going to be failing today though.
Mel’s on 10.5 while Jodie does her 9. Jodie struggles with 9 but manages not to freak out. She’s exhausted, she tells us, but she knows it won’t be over yet.
Shannan’s going to get them to do some deadlifts now. They’ve not done those before, Mel tells us. Shannan says she’s been a quiet achiever in the competition and it blows him away. Both girls are capable of amazing things, the only thing standing in their way is their minds.
Shannan has Mel do 70kg first, then bumps it to 90kg to see if she’ll continue to try. It’s a big weight, but he’s hoping she has the tenacity to keep going. She manages to get it up off the ground but gets stuck about halfway, so Shannan puts a hand on it and offers a tiny bit of assistance so she can get the rest of the way up.
Then it’s Jodie’s turn. Shannan puts one finger underneath when she’s starting off, but Jodie does all the lifting herself until Shannan pulls his hand away. She puts it back down but Shannan says she can do it. And without any excuses, she musters back up and has another go. There seems to be a lot of lifting with their backs, but Jodie manages to get it up off the ground as well.
Shannan’s setting them a goal of 3kg each, then onwards and upwards from there. And Shannan tells them both they’ve made him so happy this week. Awww!
Time for the weigh in. Princess Fiona’s in a pretty black dress tonight. Pretty pretty!
The Hailwoods aren’t back yet, just Tiffiny standing in for her team. She has bad thoughts running through her mind, all the chocolate cakes and ice creams and chicken wings they ate together. She’s nervous, she tells Fiona, but she’s confident they know what to do at home.
Welcome back, Hailwoods! Tiffiny says she’s not alone anymore. Mish tells us that Cliff looks like he’s lost some weight and Tony says Sam looks a lot healthier too.
Sam tells everyone it was amazing seeing her daughter again and she probably has to think the Jofres for that. The three younger Jofres all seem very happy with that, Rob not so much?
Time to fill them in on the Auvales having a 2kg advantage. Cliff knows it’s a good day when the Jofres haven’t won something.
So, time to weigh in. Shannan tells his girls that his confidence is good.
First to weigh in will be the Auvales tonight. They’ve got the weight advantage so they’re probably setting the bar. They’re confident, Johnee says, they’ve trained hard enough that they won’t even need the 2kg advantage. Mish is not thrilled at that, tells us any cockiness will be knocked on the head… Wonder if that’s also a reference to the Jofre results? Hmmmm. Find out soon!
Moses Previous: 103.7kg
Moses Now: 100kg
Moses Loss: 3.7kg
Everyone bursts out laughing at that. Not quite under the 100kg mark, but he’s very happy nonetheless.
Tenealle Previous: 116.8kg
Tenealle Now: 114.5kg
Tenealle Loss: 2.3kg
Johnee Previous: 186.8kg
Johnee Now: 180.5kg
Johnee Loss: 6.3kg
Looks like Johnee’s finally got his shit together?
Auvale Total: 12.3kg + 2kg advantage
Auvale Percentage: 3.51%
That’s going to be hard to beat.
Johnee says it’s a game of two halves, it’s not how you start it’s how you finish. Yeahhhh, the Jofres have started strong and will end up fit and healthy. Starting strong is better in the long term!
Mish knows her boys are wanted men. She doesn’t want them below the line because one will almost certainly go home.
Realistically, they should be fine if the Auvales hold true to the alliance…
Tony Previous: 105.8kg
Tony Now: 103.8kg
Tony Loss: 2kg
Not good enough! Pablo says it should’ve been higher and Daniel tells us the same. Tony tells Fiona he did a 13 hour workout the other day. Walking, running, then high intensity with Michelle. Mish tells us she’s a little surprised it wasn’t a bigger number, but 2kg is still awesome!
Pablo Previous: 131.4kg
Pablo Now: 129kg
Pablo Loss: 2.4kg
Uhoh. Two 2s in a row!
Rob Previous: 127.2kg
Rob Now: 124.1kg
Rob Loss: 3.1kg
Better number, still a bit chancy though. Tony says the old man’s beat them again this week!
Daniel Previous: 106.8kg
Daniel Now: 102.7kg
Daniel Loss: 4.1kg
Carrying an injury and he’s still got a good number, well done. Daniel’s been missing his grandparents in particular this week. Nobody’s told him that he couldn’t show his feelings, it’s something he’s done to himself he tells us. He’s getting a bit teary up on the scales and Steve asks him why. His grandfather is a role model for him. His grandfather was the one who came to Australia first and he doesn’t want to disappoint him. He’s been a bit of a disappointment, he thinks, but he’s finally getting shit done.
Jofre Total: 11.6kg
Jofre Percentage: 2.46%
Auvales still in the lead but the Hailwoods and Pestells are getting a look in now. Shannan looks well pleased!
Time for the Pestells to weigh in. Can they topple the Jofres at last? Jodie knows the red and black team alliance is still in place and they only have each other. But they made a plan at the challenge to ensure the Jofres didn’t win, and it worked!
To get above the Jofres the Pestells will need to lose at least 6.8kg. That’s going to be really tough, but it’s certainly not impossible. Shannan’s doubt is writ large across his face, however.
Mel Previous: 136.9kg
Mel Now: 133.8kg
Mel Loss: 3.1kg
Ooooh! Jodie gives her the thumbs up for getting the 3kg they’d been hoping to get. Again, such a huge turnaround. Shannan knows it’s tough to ask 3.7kg of Jodie. Jodie says she thinks she can do it, but she’s not sure whether she actually has done it.
Jodie Previous: 138.8kg
Jodie Now: 135kg
Jodie Loss: 3.8kg
HOLY CRAP!
Pestell Total: 6.9kg
Pestell Percentage: 2.5%
For the very first time the Jofres will face elimination and Jodie is so excited that it’s her loss that’s pushed them below.
Jodie’s lost a total of 24kg so far, Fiona informs her and Jodie’s amazed. How will their lives change at home? They’re going to do so much more stuff together. Take the dog out for a walk. Or even a run, because they can run now she says with a smile at Shannan.
Hailwoods will need at least 6.7kg to knock the Pestells below the yellow line. Realistically, that should be quite easy with a dude Cliff’s size on the team. But with them being sent home for the week and Cliff’s notoriously poor efforts in training…
Sam Previous: 97.9kg
Sam Now: 95.7kg
Sam Loss: 2.2kg
Not bad, leaves much less for Cliff to get. She had been hoping for 3kg though. They sacrificed a fair bit of time with their daughter to fit more training in because they’re still in the game.
Tiff’s worried they won’t be above the line because every time they’ve fallen below she’s lost a contestant.
At least 4.5kg still for Cliff to lose. Tiff knows it’s a big ask but he does have the weight to lose.
Cliff Previous: 167.7kg
Cliff Now: 164.2kg
Cliff Loss: 3.5kg
Nope, not enough.
Hailwood Total: 5.7kg
Hailwood Percentage: 2.15%
So I guess Sam will be going home… unless the Auvales shaft the Jofres in the elimination room?
Tiff says the eight hours on the plane probably did them in.
Cliff knows his result isn’t good enough. He’s not sure where they went wrong but Tiff doesn’t think his result was at all bad for being on their own for a few days. It’s the Jofre’s fault!
Cliff knows the Jofre/Auvale alliance is strong. Strategically it makes more sense to send a Jofre home and the Auvales know it too. Moses tells us they know they’ve got to play strategically at some point and this might be their chance to even things back up.
And now the shit’s going to hit the fan. Shannan tells us he’s worried that the alliance sprang from the relationship between Michelle and Steve. Please don’t say anything out loud please don’t say anything out loud please don’t say anything out loud!
Fiona says it’s been a very surprising weigh in, the Jofres no longer dominate the competition. But Daniel was also the biggest loser of the week, so it’s not all bad news. The Auvales were the biggest losing family, of course.
Jofre and Hailwood families will have to nominate someone to stand for elimination. Everyone else needs to rack off… Wait, so no fighty time? Wasn’t there meant to be fighty time? Did they mess with our minds again?
Daniel thinks he should be the one to go because he’s carrying an injury but Tony thinks he should be the one to go because he’s not a threat, he’s not getting the good numbers like Daniel. Daniel asks Tony if he thinks the Auvale alliance will hold and he says it doesn’t matter, he’s the one who has to go up either way.
Maybe Tony just wants a smoke break?
Hailwood decision making process is much easier. Cliff’s still above 160kg, which Sam knows is too much for someone his age. Sam’s going to try and convince the Auvales not to vote for her and she thinks the Pestells will vote for whichever Jofre goes up. So she’s got a chance at least.
Tony and Sam will be facing elimination tomorrow night. Could be a very tense elimination with the possibility of a broken alliance… Or it could be a walk in the park as the Auvales repay the Jofre’s for not sending Johnee home when they could have.
Tomorrow night, elimination room!
And then we end up back in the weigh in room for the trainer war to kick off! What are they back in there for? To talk about the alliances and bicker about stupid shit?
Sounds like it might be going to singles and that’s how Commando Steve and Cliff end up training together? Looks like Cliff will have a bunch of fun, as will Steve!
