TBL 10×16 – Life’s A Beach…ed Whale. Weigh Station.

Previously on The Biggest Loser we left the contestants sweating on the beach in a physically challenging competition, which the Jofres are winning. Of course. But they’re up to a bit that requires brains. And Jofres don’t brain too good.

Tonight, did they done brain good and win challenge? Or will the Hailwoods come from behind?

Also it’s Sunday so that means Last Chance Training and a weigh in. Can the Pestells keep their shit together this week and not end up below the yellow line? Can the Jofres continue pulling big enough numbers to keep themselves safe?

There’s also some Very Special Guests in the form of rugby players putting the contestants through their paces. This is probably very exciting for many of the contestants as they all seem the kind of bogan who’d be right into the footy, right?

There’ll also be some video calls home. They’ve only been there a couple of weeks!

Nowe we pick up the action on the beach, where the Jofres are still trying to work out the answer to the question. At stake is access to trainers and gyms for the rest of the week.

Jodie’s still dangling on the side of the container, screaming that she’s going to fall. Mel’s still trying to talk Jodie into pulling herself up the rest of the way. Jodie thinks she’s stuck and won’t be able to get up or down.

The Auvales are trying to lift Johnee up over the first inflatable wall. With both Moses and Tenealle shoving hard he finally gets atop the tube. Only three to go!

Hailwoods are clambering under the rows of bunting just before the question board.

Jofres? Still trying to work it out. They’re struggling to even read the words properly. They reason out that sucralose sounds kind of like sugar in Spanish, but not quite, so maybe it’s something that’s like sugar but isn’t? They guess that Sucralose is the right answer and… yes, they’re actually right!

Hailwoods are up to the board shortly after but the Jofres already have their tires pulled a long way, other than Pablo who is struggling a lot to keep sand out of his tires, which makes them heavier and thus harder to pull. But pull he must, they can’t let the Hailwoods win.

But it doesn’t really matter because the Hailwoods guess Galactose, which is wrong. And they’ve got to do the whole course over again now, if they want to get another chance at finishing. Sylvia’s ready to give up though. Cliff’s not letting her give up, tells her she’s always giving up. Cliff and Sam are both trudging along and Sylvia’s attached and continuing to walk. She tells us she doesn’t understand why they’ve got to do the whole thing again when the Jofres are going to win anyway.

Because you’re at Fat Camp because you’re fat from not working out and thus more working out might be beneficial.

The Jofres link arms for the final drag of their tires over the finish line. They get to keep Michelle and access to the gyms. Everyone’s pissed off, both because they didn’t win and because they’re more likely to fall below the line as a result.

The Auvales and Hailwoods have given up but of course Jodie’s still stuck partway up. Johnee comes around the corner and can see Jodie’s still struggling and his heart goes out to her. Johnee gets in underneath the net and uses his body and ultimately his head to support her from beneath, telling her it’s just like she has solid ground underneath her, she just has to believe in it. Moses pushes up one of her feet to help her up as well, then climbs up the net behind her to keep encouraging her. As Jodie swings herself up onto the container she accidentally swings her foot right into Moses’ jaw. Ouch! No harm done though, it seems, as Moses has a laugh.

Then Jodie hears applause and there’s a crowd of onlookers congratulating her for getting it done.

Jodie’s sobbing atop the container. She’s proud she got it done and thankful for the help from the Auvales, who’ve shown they are looking out for her. She had her doubts when they were first starting to help, apparently. But they didn’t let her fall.

And she can’t wait to see what next week’s challenge will be! Mel has a giggle at that.

Back at Camp Biggest Loser some of the contestants wander into the loungeroom and there’s a letter from Fiona. The letter is to let them know they’ll all get to make video calls home. Aww!

Bring on the waterworks!

First to get a chat is “Sylia” (nice work, guys!) with her husband and children. Sylvia asks Hayley how her diorama assignment went and she got an A. Her husband says she has to go all the bloody way, maybe he’ll lose some weight too. Can’t do much about his face though. No, he said that, I’m not being mean!

Moses has a chat with Rina and his kids next. One of his daughters is actually in Sydney looking at universities. So she’s not there. His boy hasn’t got any detentions and his other daughter’s softball is going “good”.

Rina’s got a new workout shirt that says “I *heart* My Samoan Husband”. Awww! Rina tells Moses not to worry, just focus on what he needs to do at Camp.

Sam and Cliff are chatting to Sophia, their only daughter. They miss her, awwww. She’s not really talking yet I guess? It’s mostly just waving and crying.

Jodie chats to her boyfriend. He says it feels like she’s been gone forever. Her ring might not fit anymore?

Tenealle’s Mum is there for a chat with her and Johnee? He must be thrilled. T’s Mum wishes she could hug them. Awww.

Mel’s friend Natasha is her video call, along with Natasha’s kids. Natasha tells the kids to say hi but only the little girl does, a very enthusiastic roar HIII. So cute! Natasha asks if there’s any potential suitors? Mel says not yet, a few prospects. Mel tells us if she can’t find a date she’s going to kidnap a Jofre and take them to Natasha’s wedding. Heh.

The three Jofre boys are next, chatting to their Mum. Hola Mrs Jofre! She’s very proud of them for winning all the challenges and is happy to see they’ve lost some weight already. She wishes them luck and tells them not to give up. Kisses, aww!

Rob’s fiancee and his daughter are his video call. Rob’s fiancee is preggers so he asks if he can see her belly and she says she’ll show hers if he shows his. SEXY…

She’s not really showing much but apparently the baby has started kicking. Awww, tiny baby Jofre!

Mish is at Camp for last chance training with the Jofres. Daniel knows it’s a big advantage because while you do push yourself in solo training it’s not to the same level as Michelle can get them to perform.

It’s a tough session today and Mish says, “Kids, don’t try this at home.” Yes, keep watching the telly and eating fried chicken so you can be on a future season of the show!

The Hailwoods are working out on the sand today. Carrying tires back and forth and doing pushups and shuffling back and forth. Neither Cliff nor Sam is particularly impressed with Sylvia’s efforts in training. If they want to get above the Jofres they’ve got to train a lot harder. Sam’s going to dispense some tough love.

Sylvia exclaims she almost prefers Tiff to Sam. Sam’s a hard taskmaster, it seems.

The Auvales are working out with watter bottles in backpacks. Running back and forth on the lawn, doing pushups and squats, all with the extra water weight. Tenealle says her legs feel like they might give in but she keeps pushing harder, like Commando would want her to do. They’re hoping it’ll be enough.

Pestells are working out on a yoga mat on the driveway. Jodie says the sun is lovely and it’d be nice to just sunbake for a while. Shannan wouldn’t like it, but it’s so nice.

Yet she knows they’ve got to be above the yellow line, so she gets up and keeps working out. They climb under and over a paddock fence. It’s the site of their first really big argument at the house. They’ve found the rocks Shannan had them running around, or mostly walking around and they’re working that into their session. Except now they’re running back and forth, chatting companionably and keeping the workout going. Mel tells us it’s easier working out now that Ali’s gone, she’s no longer yelling in her ear all the time. Bet she’s going to be thrilled seeing that on telly tonight!

Oh well, time for weigh in. Black, white and blue teams are all a bit nervous as they’ve missed out on a proper last chance training.

Fiona’s in a red and black dress this week. No more blue for life? Traitor! (It’s a very pretty dress, though.)

First up to weigh in this week is the Auvales, Moses first.

Moses Previous: 106kg
Moses Now: 103.7kg
Moses Loss: 2.3kg

Steve’s pleased! Moses is still on a high after chatting to his kids. They said they’re happy he’s there and getting healthy, which is all the motivation he needs.

Tenealle Previous: 118.7kg
Tenealle Now: 116.8kg
Tenealle Loss: 1.9kg

Tenealle would’ve liked a bigger number but is pleased she at lost some weight.

Johnee Previous: 189kg
Johnee Now: 186.8kg
Johnee Loss: 2.2kg

That’s not a great result and Commando Steve is very disappointed.

Auvale Total: 6.4kg
Auvale Percentage: 1.55%

That’s a bit iffy, they could be in trouble.

Johnee’s confused, he should lose more than that as a big guy. Fiona’s about to say something in reply but Steve interjects, telling him that if he can’t motivate himself he may as well pack his bags and go home. Steve says it goes for Tenealle and Moses as well.

It’s not adding up, Commando Steve thinks. He should lose more than 2.2kg if he’s doing everything he claims to be doing.

Now it’s time for the Jofres to weigh in. Do they think keeping Michelle will help them? Yes. But they also train a minimum three times a day, without Michelle. They trained at 4am that morning, without the other contestants knowing. It’s been something of a strategy for them, having the other teams think they’re being lazy but they’re actually doing a lot of workouts on the sly. It gives them an edge on the other teams.

The other teams are a bit nervous on hearing that. Have they all done enough?

Pablo Previous: 134.7kg
Pablo Now: 131.4kg
Pablo Loss: 3.3kg

Not bad already eclipsed everyone on the Auvale team.

Daniel Previous: 108.3kg
Daniel Now: 106.8kg
Daniel Loss: 1.5kg

Tony Previous: 108.6kg
Tony Now: 105.8kg
Tony Loss: 2.8kg

Rob’s very excited to weigh in, strips his shirt off very quickly and throws it back to his team then trots up to the scales. Everyone has a good giggle with him.

Rob Previous: 130.8kg
Rob Now: 127.2kg
Rob Loss: 3.6kg

Jofre Total: 11.2kg
Jofre Percentage: 2.32%

They’re in first place. Not safe yet, but it’s fairly unlikely the Pestells would top them, so it looks like they’ll be deciding who goes home again this week?

Rob’s very happy and Fiona says she’s never seen anyone race to get weighed in before!

Cliff’s asked if he’d like to beat the Jofres this week and Cliff says of course, they’d all like to, the Jofres are absolutely setting the bar when it comes to the competition so far.

Tiff knows the Jofres have had a pretty much perfect week, but she’s still confident her team can do well, if they’ve stuck to her training and diet.

Sylvia Previous: 129.2kg
Sylvia Now: 127.3kg
Sylvia Loss: 1.9kg

She has a smile on her face, says it’s awesome. Sam and Cliff look very disappointed, Tiff doesn’t look too impressed either. At least it’s a loss!

Sam Previous: 99kg
Sam Now: 97.9kg
Sam Loss: 1.1kg

Not good. Sam’s disappointed, she’s worked hard and has tried to motivate everyone and yet she got a worse number than Sylvia. Not so sure on that myself, Sylvia’s got more weight to lose.

Sylvia’s apologising, telling Sam she wouldn’t sacrifice Sam for herself. Sam says she’s sick of making excuses, Kayla’s already gone home to save Sylvia. Sylvia thought she was doing what needed to be done so it’s a surprise to have Sam suddenly say she’s not doing enough.

Tiff says she loves Sylvia, but when they’re training and Tiff turns her back Sylvia will stop training. That can’t keep happening now. Sylvia’s upset now and worried she’ll be the one to go home if they don’t make it above the line.

Cliff needs at least 3.2kg to beat the Auvales. That’s certainly doable, he’s bigger than Rob and Rob got 3.6kg!

Cliff Previous: 169.2kg
Cliff Now: 167.7kg
Cliff Loss: 1.5kg

Hailwood Total: 4.5kg
Hailwood Percentage: 1.13%

Definitely below the yellow line, definitely facing elimination.

1.5kg is simply not good enough. Tiff suspects Cliff’s keeping secrets of some kind. Cliff says it doesn’t reflect the work he’s put in this week.

Tiff tells us Cliff’s not training at all on his own, though he’s training well when she’s there. Tiff asks him how much he’s training when she’s not there and Cliff has to think about it. Not a good sign. Tiff tells him he needs to be putting in the cardio time, keep pushing on the treadmill. Cliff isn’t holding anything back, he claims. Tiff suspects maybe the diet’s not being followed properly either. Time for kitchen cam?

Mel’s not surprised. She tells us Cliff probably isn’t working out as much as he thinks he is. Tenealle tells us she’s never seen Cliff do a pushup and Johnee says they’ve never seen him do anything!

Just the Pestells to go. Can they scrape above the line for the first time?

Jodie tells Fiona it’s been a good week, hanging out and doing some exercise. Is that a new thing, Fiona asks? Shannan’s nodding his head enthusiastically. Jodie’s giggling along, much happier now she’s getting shit done I guess? Fiona reminds them they’ve never been above the yellow line and Shannan grimaces and says thankyou! Shannan just wants to see what it’s like being above the line!

Then more seriously he gives Jodie credit for not saying she can’t or won’t in training, they’ve worked out a compromise and it’s been showing good results. Shannan says she hasn’t beaten him! He hasn’t given up on her! … just yet. Heh.

Mel’s first to weigh in. The Auvales are very nervous. If the Pestells can make it above the line it’ll be them facing elimination with the Hailwoods.

At least 4.4kg is what they’ll need to stay safe. 2.2kg from two of the big girls of the competition certainly seems achievable.

Mel Previous: 139.6kg
Mel Now: 136.9kg
Mel Loss: 2.7kg

Well done Mel! Done your part and a bit more. Jodie gives a silent yay in her direction and is all smiles for a change. Mel is very happy with her result, too.

What’s her new life look like? She’s looking forward to having a partner and Shannan asks if she’s realised there’s more to life than work and travel?

Johnee then slyly suggests she tell the rest of the group what she told them last night, about going to Argentina with Pablo. Lots more giggling. Pablo looks like he might be up for that. Oh my! Shannan says he’s not sure how he feels about being the other-other man!

Jodie needs at least 1.7kg. With her newfound enthusiasm that’s a real possibility this week! Mel is confident in Jodie’s efforts, Shannan looks very nervous for his team.

Jodie Previous: 141.5kg
Jodie Now: 138.8kg
Jodie Loss: 2.7kg

Pestell Total: 5.4kg
Pestell Percentage:

Shannan’s very excited in the weigh in room and even more excited in the side bit. There’s even an excited little dance because both his girls will be back next week!

Jofres and Hailwoods are both pleased for the Pestells. The Auvales seem mostly worried they’re under the line. Don’t know why they’re worried, the Jofres have already had their back through one elimination, they should be fine?

Mel and Jodie live together so not having Shannan for training was an insight into what their life could be like on the outside. They can meet new people and do new things – going to the beach and climbing on a container isn’t something she would ever have done before!

The Jofres are the biggest losing family of the week, again. And biggest losing individual is Rob!

Auvales and Hailwoods will face elimination. Who will they put up? Probably Sam and Tenealle? Maybe Sylvia and Tenealle? Sylvia and Moses? Don’t make us wait until tomorrow night, Fiona!

Sam thinks it has to be be between her and Sylvia because Cliff needs it the most. Sylvia thinks she can’t motivate Cliff as well as Sam can so it has to be her, but it’s going to be rough if she goes.

The Auvales seem to have plonked for Tenealle. If she goes then they have to win so they can vote out the Jofres for breaking the alliance. Also it will mean each of them will have been up for elimination at least once!

The Auvales have indeed chosen Tenealle. She tells us you’ve got to think strategically, you’ve got to put someone up who can “outconquer” (?) the other person put up. She’s sure she’ll be coming back and everything will be alright.

Sam tells us she’s given up on Sylvia, she’s tired of her and tired of her attitude. Sylvia tells us she really wants to stay…

Tomorrow night at the elimination, Sylvia’s going to turn on her own family, apparently labelling them “fake”. Or they’ve cleverly edited it to look that way…

Then The Game is some kind of engineering challenge, building an aqueduct to carry water from one place to another for some reason. Looks like fun! Unless you’re Cliff. In which case it looks like it might cause a tantrum. Oh dear.

And no, I don’t know what happened to the rugby players. Is that coming tomorrow or Tuesday? I thought it was tonight. Did I nod off and miss it?
