TBL 10×13 – Jofres. They’re All Bad.

Previously on The Biggest Loser the march of the Jofres continued with another win at The Game and a win at the weekly challenge kind of inevitable the only question that remains is whether they can also win at the weigh in. They have control over which team member weighs in for each team so if they aren’t at least safe it will be a huge shock.

Tonight the Auvales are going to try and beat the Jofres in the final leg of the weekly challenge. It involves fire in a contained room and possibly rescuing a dummy from it? Fighting the fire would be more fun but I guess that requires more training.

Later, time for last chance training and the Pestells are falling apart. Then the weigh in, where the Jofre/Auvale alliance might be crumbling already?

But first, Tenealle and Moses versus Tony and Daniel. Who can save another person’s life… the fastest? The most safely? Sam explains they’ll be wearing breathing apparatus and other protective gear. They have to retrieve a life size dummy and then extinguish a car fire when they come back out. Tenealle’s scared and she’s not even in with the fire yet!

The winner of the challenge will get to choose who faces elimination from the two teams below the yellow line. Ouch, that could be the source of a bunch of drama, huh?

Time to get the breathing apparatus on. Tony says it’s hard to breathe with it on but I bet it’d be harder to breathe that thick smoke. Sam says they’ll have to search mostly by touch because visibility will be very poor in there.

And he’s not wrong, they have camera crews in there and while they can see the contestants fairly easily you can’t really make out the walls or metal bars forming the walls and hallways. One of the support firemen has what looks to be a handheld infrared unit, checking temperatures I guess?

Moses is a little claustrophobic, he says, so having only the mask and the tank keeping him alive is a bit rough. He takes a moment to calm himself and remember what he’s there for. They manage to find a body and drag it down the stairs they’d climbed and back out towards the door.

Tony’s also finding it quite intense, says he has a lot of respect for the firemen who do this for real. They’ve also found a dummy, which weighs about 50kg, Tony guesses. Not that heavy for a human but carrying a vaguely human shaped lump of dead weight isn’t easy.

Surprisingly the Auvales are the first out the door with their dummy. But they have to rescue two, it seems? Everyone on the outside is cheering a lot for the Auvales being first, however. Seems like maybe the Jofres aren’t so well liked, even inside their alliance? Maybe Johnee has come to his senses?

Back inside and Moses and Tenealle are still stumbling around in the thick smoke looking for their dummy. It’s all down to who finds one first, I suspect. And just as I say that the Auvales have found their dummy. But so have the Jofres. Or at least it’s been edited to look that way…

Ad break! Drama!

And it’s the Jofres who come out first. Dang. Now they get to put out the fire, fun! So the Jofres have won again and have all of the powers for the weigh in. Scary.

Thanks Fireman Sam! You’re an inspiration, Princess Fiona says. Jodie tells us it wasn’t the worst challenge they’ve done because they had a bit of eye candy. Forever thinking of candy instead of training…

Speaking of training, time for last chance training with the Pestells up first. Shannan recalls the last time he was there they all ended up at opposite sides of the house after a massive argument. Shannan asks if they’ve got all that sorted out now and Mel immediately says yes. Ali did too, I think.

Jodie just kind of stares as Shannan tells her he can’t have another performance like that in training. Kick her out! Kick her out!

Shannan’s trying to walk Jodie slowly through a fast stepping exercise. It’s not going well and Jodie says she can’t do it. Shannan’s just trying to get it done but Jodie’s wandering off already.

After some warmups Shannan has Ali and Mel in the ring, asks them if they’re up for some time in the ring. Mel nods. Shannan says it’s a great place to burn off animosity and anger. Jodie? Jodie? Jodie says nup. When will she get another chance to do this? Jodie’s not interested. So Shannan moves on.

Shannan decides to focus on Mel and Ali who are both headgeared up and boxing mitts and mouthguards. Just some simple jabs to the face and Mel and Ali are having a bit of a chuckle, which Shannan joins in on. Asks them if they’re having fun in training? Shannan does love his boxing sessions.

After that Shannan steps out of the ring and says to Jodie that there hasn’t been anything she likes. Jodie says the boxing is something Ali likes. Shannan gets a bit snappy and asks her what she does like. What can he get her to do in the gym so she’s doing a workout while Ali and Mel – who are still flailing away happily – have fun.

Jodie likes nothing in the gym. Shannan says her weight has squashed the life out of an otherwise beautiful person. Her body is making her angry and miserable. Shannan tells us he can’t make her do it, she has to want to do it. Pretty sure she’s happy eating her way to an early grave.

Why does everyone cheer for Ali and Mel, Jodie asks? Jodie thinks it’s because they don’t like her. Shannan’s gone back to the girls in the ring while Jodie is making excuses to camera, telling us she’s not letting the team down. She’s the one who got them there. You’re the one who’ll be sending them home, too!

After the boxing Ali comes over and asks Jodie to come and work out with them, they need her there too. Jodie’s having another sit down and sulk. And we leave them there for the Auvales!

The Auvales are, again, training outdoors in the pouring rain. Johnee is hoping the Jofres will honour their agreement to nominate him to represent the team. He’s aiming for 9kg which Steve tells us is definitely ambitious. He’s reminding the team that alliances only get you so far, they all need to be working out hard just in case they tell Tenealle she’s representing the team, or Moses.

Hailwood training time! Challenge day yesterday and Tiff says, let me guess. Red won? Yup! So what was the power? Oh noes! Tiff reminds them the only thing that matters is your weightloss. Control the game by losing good numbers. Nobody can stop them if they do that.

Cliff’s hoping the Jofres will choose him as he’s lost some smaller numbers over time. Fairly unlikely, he is still a dude and they do tend to lose more weight. But if they go below the line, he’s probably the one who’ll get eliminaated. Tiff knows it, too. Cliff promises he won’t be going home and Tiff tells them to show the Hailwood spirit on the scales. Cliff isn’t actually a Hailwood though…

Jofres are having a chat before training about who they should put up as team representatives. Tony, Rob and Pablo are thinking of putting Johnee up, but they might not because he might do a big number. But they have an alliance, Daniel says, they gave their word. The other guys say it might be an alliance but do they have any friends? Nope. Might be a lack of friends because you screw people over? Surely not.

They’re thinking Sylvia from Hailwoods because she has an injury and Jodie from Pestells because she doesn’t want to be there and isn’t training enough.

Speaking of the Pestells, we’re back with them again. Ali’s sitting down for a chat with Jodie after training. This should go well.

Ali knows Shannan has the right to get frustrated with Jodie saying no all the time. He’s there to train them, help them. Jodie says he’s being mean to her but Ali says he’s trying to motivate her. It’s not motivating to her, she says, you don’t understand her. Jodie gets up and walks off crying, saying they don’t understand what it’s like. Um. Ali and Mel are both super fat just like you and they both do the training. At least, most of the time they do the training…

Ali doesn’t like seeing Jodie hurting because they’re twins. They’re part of each other, Jodie says. Ali tells us she doesn’t think she could handle being there with just Mel. So much dysfunction.

Ali says Jodie needs to stay even more than her because she needs to open back up and get back to being like the old Jodie. Think the grump might have set in too deeply at this point!

Time for the weigh in. Fiona’s in a blue dress AGAIN! Blue for liiife!

Fiona tells them their trainers aren’t there tonight because on the outside they won’t always have their trainers to back them up. Suspect it’s more like the trainers didn’t want to be there for the shitflinging that’s going to happen this week!

Everyone will still be weighing in tonight but only one person’s result will count towards the final standings. Fiona hopes they’ve all been working out as hard as they can.

First to weigh in will be the Jofres. They’ve chosen Rob as their representative but Pablo will weigh in first.

Pablo Previous: 138.3kg
Pablo Now: 134.7kg
Pablo Loss: 3.6kg

That’s the lowest weigh he’s been as an adult, he says.

Daniel Previous: 112.1kg
Daniel Now: 108.3kg
Daniel Loss: 3.8kg

Tony Previous: 110.8kg
Tony Now: 108.6kg
Tony Loss: 2.2kg

Rob Previous: 135.3kg
Rob Now: 130.8kg
Rob Loss: 4.5kg

Jofre Percentage: 3.33%

Hm, good but will it be good enough?

Next team to weigh in will be the Pestells. And of course Jodie’s the one to get picked. To nobody’s surprise!

Jodie says the boys have said they don’t think she works out hard enough and they want her in the elimination room.

Mel is first to weigh in. She’s confident as she’s stepped it up in training. She wanted to show the other two she’s contributing.

Mel Previous: 141kg
Mel Now: 139.6kg
Mel Loss: 1.4kg

That’s a bit underwhelming. Mel says she was hoping for more, but it’s still a good number. Not sure Ali and Jodie are going to agree with that assessment. Even if they do worse!

Mel says it’s been a hard week for all of them, they’ve been fighting with each other and it’s been hard to stay motivated. Ali asks if it was her not giving 100% or the whole family. Mel says a bit of both. Moses is ticked off that Ali even put the question to her. He tells us she works out well in the house and her sisters don’t give her enough credit.

Ali says she’s been giving it 100% and hasn’t missed any sessions. Which we already know is a LIE. Because they’d missed two of four at the start of the week.

Moses asks if Mel has quit on Shannan and Ali has to grudgingly admit she hasn’t. But she chips in that she hasn’t given up either.

Moses leads everyone else in a round of applause for Mel, which gets a big grin out of her. Fiona asks Moses what he thinks is going on with the Pestell family. Moses says all they do in training is pick on Mel and Ali immediately interjects to say they don’t pick on Mel. LIE!

Even Tony weighs in at this point and says they’ve all seen it and they’re all pissed off. They’ve got to work together. Ali and Jodie are rolling their eyes so hard it’s probably the most calories they’ve burnt all week. Jodie says the house loves Mel and hates them. The others all scoff at that. Ali says that of course they still want Mel as part of the team, she’s their sister. Nobody understaaaaaaaaaaaands what they’re going through.

Moses says Ali should try some positivity, she’s the strongest and she should be driving them forward. The positivity will come back to her, Moses insists. Ali says it hasn’t yet.

Ali’s back to jumping on Mel, then Jodie says they can’t focus if they’re trying to drag Mel along. When have you ever done that, Jodie? You sit on your arse refusing to train. Mel points out that the results today are riding on Jodie’s effort and Jodie’s got a bit of a panicked look on her face as she says, yeah, good!

Johnee tries to bring some happiness back into the room by pointing out Mel’s in the 130s now. Much applause from the others, they all love Mel, she smiles and laughs and works out with the others. Jodie gives the most halfhearted applause imaginable and Ali just stands there glowering.

Jofres weren’t going to pick Ali, she works too hard and is the backbone of the team. They would be foolish to pick her, obviously!

Ali Previous: 118.9kg
Ali Now: 118.6kg
Ali Loss: 0.3kg

That is abysmal. It would be disappointing if she’d taken a huge Temptation, she hadn’t. So much for not missing any sessions and working out 100%, huh? Send her home, Jofres!

Ali’s in tears. Will she finally realise she’s being an idiot or will she blame Mel again? She says she’s got a lot of pressure on her, leading the team when they’re always under the yellow line, etc. Jofres are wondering if they made a mistake in nominating Jodie.

Jodie Previous: 142.7kg
Jodie Now: 141.5kg
Jodie Loss: 1.2kg

Just think, if you’d done even one of the workouts you were supposed to with Shannan you might not be a crushing disappointment to your family!

Pestell Percentage: 0.84%

God help Mel who is going to be stuck with Jodie if the Jofres send Ali home. Hah!

Anyway, Jodie’s happy with a loss. Why didn’t she get bigger numbers, Fiona asks. Jodie says she doesn’t know. SHE DOESN’T KNOW. Ali and Mel didn’t lose good numbers either, she says. Fiona asks her if she’s worked as hard as she could this week. She obviously mulls over her answer for a while and eventually comes to the conclusion she has to tell the truth, because the others would call her on it. She says “no” very peevishly and tries to blame Shannan for the problems.

Johnee asks her why she feels like she needs to motivate Mel and Jodie says it’s what they do on the outside. Jodie’s there because Mel moved in with her and they gained weight together. Mel was overweight first, she says. They’re the same weight now, fuck off with that excuse!

Jodie says Mel is partly to blame for her weight. Mel’s not having that, says Jodie is at home on her own a lot so she can’t blame Mel for her weight.

Jodie doesn’t want to go home, but if she does she wants it to be because she’s a threat, not because she’s not working hard enough. You’ll only be a threat if you actually start working!

Why does she need to be there, Fiona asks. Jodie says she needs to be there because she doesn’t have a life and she needs her life back. She has no friends at home. Sylvia says she has 12-13 friends there, even if she doesn’t think she does. They’re all in the same boat, they’re all fat. They’re all overweight. They all feel what she’s feeling. Jodie says that’s why she’s struggling, she doesn’t know that’s what the others feel.

Hailwoods next! Kayla went last week so they can’t afford another loss this week. Jofre’s decision? Sam’s the lightest, Sylvia’s been working out like a madwoman so they’ve picked Cliff.

Sam Previous: 101.1kg
Sam Now: 99kg
Sam Loss: 2.1kg

Huge round of applause and some cheering from the peanut gallery. Sam’s thrilled to be under 100kg at last.

Sylvia Previous: 131.7kg
Sylvia Now: 129.2kg
Sylvia Loss: 2.5kg

Sylvia’s already out of her boot? Or did they realise she “weighed in” with it on last time?

Anyway. Cliff’s turn. In order to beat the Pestells he’ll need 1.5kg. In order to keep them safe he’s probably going to need to do a lot more than that.

Cliff Previous: 173.1kg
Cliff Now: 169.2kg
Cliff Loss: 3.9kg

Easy. Figured he’d do reasonably well.

Hailwood Percentage: 2.25%

Pestells now definitely below the yellow line. Will they face elimination with the Hailwoods or Auvales?

The Jofres have chosen Johnee to represent the Auvales. Strategic, asks Fiona? Rob says no, Johnee asked them. So, yes…

Moses Previous: 109.3kg
Moses Now: 106kg
Moses Loss: 3.3kg

Tenealle Previous: 120.3kg
Tenealle Now: 118.7kg
Tenealle Loss: 1.6kg

Johnee needs at least 4.5kg to beat Cliff and the Hailwoods. That’s quite an ask but he is a big man…

Johnee Previous: 191kg
Johnee Now: 189kg
Johnee Loss: 2kg

OH DEAR.

Auvale Percentage: 1.05%

Well now. The Jofres will have to pick him to face elimination, surely? Then vote him out with their greater numbers? Uhoh.

Everyone’s surprised to see Johnee get a low number. He felt like he’d done really well this week so he’s puzzled.

Jofres and Hailwoods are safe, Pestells and Auvales face elimination. Jofres get to choose who’ll face it from each team though.

The Auvales have told the Jofres they want Moses to be the one from their team to face the vote. Tony’s whispering that they’ll have to break the alliance but it’s a chance to wipe out one of their biggest threats. Jodie’s worried who they might pick because apparently she’s a moron? It’s not going to be you going home, dummy!

Pablo’s not happy with the decision they’ve come to, Moses notices.

Tony says the Auvales are wonderful people and they’re in an alliance but there comes time for a twist so they can keep going as far as they can and they’ve chosen Johnee as he’s the biggest threat. Tony knows it’s a bit early to break the alliance but they may not get another chance to vote him out…

For the Pestells they’ve picked Ali. Big surprise. Nobody likes her and she’s the “leader” and nobody likes her. Ali’s a little surprised, thought Jodie would be their choice. Jodie’s annoyed they didn’t pick her, they’ve said before they wanted her gone.

Fiona asks Johnee if the alliance is still going strong and Johnee says he’s not sure. Tenealle pipes up to say NOPE. She’s quite mad, says it’s a dog move to put Johnee up. How can you have the heart to do it?

Don’t worry, he’ll be back, shush.

Johnee needs to be there more than the rest of his team. Tenealle says she would have preferred Moses or herself be up for elimination, she’d take his spot if she could.

Time to say your goodbyes, people. One of them might not be back.

It’s Johnee. It’s Johnee who won’t be back. Surely they wouldn’t put him up and then vote Ali out, they would have to be the stupidest team in the history of the show.

Tomorrow night! Elimination. Will there be an unexpected twist or will Johnee go back home for a few days?

Then, The Game. Some kind of memory game. And to play the game you have to eat a teeny tiny cupcake. I’LL DO IT!
