TBL 10×10 – Run To The Whale-Weigh Station!
Previously on The Biggest Loser the Hailwoods and the Pestells got angry with each other and then seemingly made up and the Auvales and Jofres entered into an official alliance, purely because the Auvales want to kick the Hailwoods out.
Tonight the trainers are going to get stroppy with each other during the weigh in. Looks like Shannan’s not happy about the alliance between Michelle and Commando’s teams, which he seems to be suggesting is due to their burgeoning relationship.
Also, a weigh in happens, which means someone will face elimination. Probably tomorrow. And then that will cause more dramas. And then they still have to lose a bunch of weight either way because they’re all still really big right now…
But first tonight, the end of the challenge. Lots of chasing around and around. And did Sylvia break something when she fell over or was it just a nasty sprain? Obviously they’re hoping it’s not too serious, lest she be sent home from Camp.
Moses is the last of the black team in the race and he’s determined to eliminate the white team. Payback time! Now he doesn’t have Johnee holding him back he can run a lot faster. The red team only has to jog to stay ahead of white this time while Moses catches up to the Hailwoods.
Moses manages to catch up and tags Kayla, who sits out now as Sam is the better runner of the group… but as the next race kicks off it’s clear she doesn’t have the legs to outrun Moses. She’s just delaying the inevitable and eventually gives up, letting Moses tag her. Sam was upset because she’d been hoping to catch at least one Jofre but I think she’s overestimated her own speed compared to the big strong boys.
The Jofres are going to try and push Moses as hard as they can to try and tire him out but they’re expecting Rob will probably end up getting caught. So they want to keep going as long as possible before that happens.
Moses is being spurred on by doing it for Rina, he wants the prize so he can dump the 2kg penalty on the Hailwoods as vengeance. But he’s tiring and cramps up after a while, long before the Jofres have given in.
Yet he doesn’t give up. He tries sidestepping and bouncing around to try and loosen his legs up. Sam’s cheering Moses on, which is a bit odd since the Auvales are all sharpening daggers behind the Hailwoods’ backs.
Moses doesn’t last much longer once the cramps set in, so he’s disappointed. But there’s a fair chance the Jofres will give the Hailwoods the penalty anyway, or the Pestells, and then both those teams will be below the line and tada!
But we’ll see.
The Jofres now have a 2kg weight penalty they can drop on a family at the weigh in, which can very easily make the difference between being safe or not.
Ali says she doesn’t like the red team having won it today. They’ve had a 5kg penalty off them before, so they might go for them again. Sam’s worried as well, they’ve been on a red meat diet all week and Sylvia’s in hospital for who knows how long.
And after an ad break the Jofres are asked who’ll be getting the penalty… they’ve given the Auvales the grains this week and they’ve given a weight penalty to the Pestells before so it’s only fair to give the Hailwoods the penalty.
Sam says she’s not surprised, they’ll just have to push harder than before and still be above the yellow line, no matter what’s thrown at them. She tells us in an aside that she thinks they have no chance if Sylvia’s actually broken something.
We then go to hospital with Sylvia. Her ankle looks swollen and a bit angry, she doesn’t like the nurse touching it very much. The nurse looks big enough to be on the show himself, hope they gave him an application form.
Sylvia’s worried because she’s the biggest girl in her family so she knows she needs to be there to lose the good numbers. They wheel her off for an x-ray but we don’t find out the results just yet.
Next day at breakfast Tony is frying up some fish when Tenealle and Johnee arrive. Johnee’s still a bit filthy over the decision to have the grains for the week. They think it was the worst of the options but I suspect only the Pestells were particularly happy, given they got fruit and eat lots of fruits anyway!
Johnee’s not pleased by his raw oats, warm milk and nothing else. “No bacon?” Johnee hopefully asks Tenealle. No bacon.
Tony says he thought they could have lentils, which he thought would be a good option, low in calories. But apparently they can’t have lentils for some reason? Johnee had four almonds and a walnut for dinner last night. Not good!
Jodie? Mel? I genuinely struggle to tell the difference. Anyway, one of them is working out with Kayla and Sam from the white team, so that relationship seems mended? But Sam is mostly just worried about Sylvia. What if she doesn’t come back?
The Auvales aren’t worrying about Sylvia, they’re working out hard. Steve wasn’t happy they had grains all week but they’ve got to get on with it. Steve then sees they’re not working out as hard as he thinks they can. Moses has been struggling to sleep without his wife in bed with him. But he says he knows he needs to suck it up and move on.
Commando Steve says yes, suck it up when the situation calls for it, but still let yourself feel things, talk it through and stuff. Steve’s pleased Moses is starting to open up to him. Moses says he had a bit of a cry the first night Rina was gone. Awww!
Steve then shares a bit of his own experience with the group. He was in the military for ten years and he learned to disconnect from his emotions, man of action, arms crossed, sunnies on, didn’t care about anything but training hard. He’s learned since then that to be the best version of himself he needs to be well rounded. The way to get there is to get better at communication and it’s good to see them opening up.
Time for more training, less talking! Moses is going much harder on the rowing machine than before, Steve has a big grin. All is well once more!
The Hailwoods are training hard to try and burn off the red meat diet and worrying about whether Sylvia will be back. As we head into an ad break we see her arrive in a car back at Camp but she’s leaning back in it and looking upset. Not good news?
As she gets out of the car she has a big moon boot on her foot and she hobbles off to the gym to find her family. The good news is that she has no broken bones! The bad news is she’s torn some ligaments. Three weeks in the boot, no lower body exercise, two weeks of lower impact after that with doctor checkups.
The Hailwoods are relieved to have her back but still very worried since her reduced workout capacity means she may not pull the numbers they need. At least they can put her up for elimination though?
The Jofres are bragging on their challenge win. Mish is very proud of her boys. Pablo says they’re strong and have speed and agility as well. “And humility, I hope?” Hah, no chance Mish!
Michelle’s amused they’ve put the 2kg on the Hailwoods, but she also looks a bit worried because she knows that’s going to put a rocket up them.
Tiff and Shannan turn up to do their last chance training only to find Hailwoods and Pestells training together, in perfect harmony. They can’t believe it!
Shannan tells us the balance of power is in strength of numbers. He’s intimated to his team that they should buddy up to the white team, since the black and reds are thick as thieves.
So, since both trainers are there and both teams are there, they pair up for some double training and a sort of alliance, no voting against each other. Oooh, this is going to get snarky!
Anyway, they’ve put the training session together to take Sylvia’s injury into account. Tiff says Shannan still boxes professionally and he’s recovered through many injuries, so that’s going to be a great help to Sylvia today.
Going to be a hard session today but they’re all convinced it’s going to be a huge benefit to them on the scales. They seem to be doing some Commando-style training today, flipping tires end over end down the sandpit. Shannan wants them to go down fighting if they’re going to go down at all.
“Turn your wound into wisdom,” says Tiffiny. Surely the wisdom is “stop doing dumb exercises, you’ll hurt yourself!”
Sylvia’s got sand in her boot and she’s amazed they’ve even got her doing this today. She’s still thinking she can’t do things, Tiff knows better though.
Ali does better in training than her two sisters but she’s got Kayla to match herself with now, which she appreciates.
Mel’s still the slowest. She’s worried she’s the one holding her team back. And if she doesn’t pick up the intensity of her training, she certainly will be!
Cliff’s not pushed himself this hard in his whole life, he says. He’s digging deep though. As are Kayla and Ali at the front of the group of people pushing the tire forward while crawling across the wet sand. Tiff wants Kayla to work out double hard to carry Sylvia this week.
Sylvia’s struggling, worried she’ll let the team down too. Shannan tells her that the first female winner of The Biggest Loser, Lisa, did the last six weeks in a boot. Partially ruptured achilles tendon. Six weeks in a boot, she still won. Sylvia’s very surprised but inspired.
Mel’s struggling to keep the tire moving across the sand so Kayla drops back and helps, then Ali comes back to help Cliff as well. Lots of alliancing going on!
Time for the weigh in! Hi Princess Fiona, that is a lovely blue dress you’re wearing.
Fiona reminds them all of their modified diets, Sylvia’s trip to hospital, revisits the rules of the game. Two teams below the yellow line will face elimination.
And first to weigh in, the Jofres. Daniel, you’re up!
Daniel Previous: 118kg
Daniel Now: 112.1kg
Daniel Loss: 5.9kg
He had a disappointing loss last week, with some suspicion he may have water loaded, so a big number isn’t hugely surprising. And again we see he wasn’t really first to weigh in as the Jofres already had 15.5kg on the scoreboard. Twits.
Tony Previous: 115.6kg
Tony Now: 110.8kg
Tony Loss: 4.8kg
After a big glut at Temptation, that’s not bad.
Pablo Previous: 143.1kg
Pablo Now: 138.3kg
Pablo Loss: 4.8kg
Pablo says he’s 38.3kg from his goal. His goal is only 100kg? Okay… He tells Fiona he’s hoping to feel attractive when he gets to his goal weight, attractive to a female. He’s never felt attractive to a female, he tells Fiona. He was thinking he’d had a family and career by 25. Mel tells us she knows what he means. And he’s got a lot to offer, he’s nice. HELLOOOO.
Rob Previous: 141.2kg
Rob Now: 135.3kg
Rob Loss: 5.9kg
Jofre Total: 21.4kg
Jofre Percentage: 4.13%
That’s probably enough to keep them safe, unless someone’s really kicked some butt in training. Shannan knows a large part of that loss was due to the Jofres eating fish all week.
Next up, Pestells! Shannan’s a bit worried because they’ve been eating fruit all week.
Ali says they’ve been working together great as a team this week, no more fighting. Fiona says that’s great, what changed? They’ve finally realised they’ve got to stick together if they want to stay at Camp.
Ali Previous: 120.7kg
Ali Now: 118.9kg
Ali Loss: 1.8kg
That’s not going to be enough, methinks. She’s devastated but Shannan tells her not to worry about it. They’ve had nothing but carbs and sugar all week but they’ve worked out hard.
Jodie Previous: 145.3kg
Jodie Now: 142.7kg
Jodie Loss: 2.6kg
She’s heartbroken as well, doesn’t feel it reflects the work she put in.
Mel Previous: 143.9kg
Mel Now: 141kg
Mel Loss: 2.9kg
Pestell Total: 7.3kg
Pestell Percentage: 1.78%
Tiffiny is hopeful since her family has been on red meat.
The Hailwoods will need to have lost 11.2kg or more to beat the Pestells. Presumably a lot more to beat the Jofres and remain absolutely safe. If they go under with the Pestells they’re pretty much doomed.
Cliff Previous: 176.7kg
Cliff Now: 173.1kg
Cliff Loss: 3.6kg
Tiff remains confident. Think she might be forgetting Sylvia has a bung foot.
Cliff says it was good working out with the blue team. Tony pipes up to ask if they’re in an alliance now. DUN DUN DUNNNN. Kayla asks if they’re aligned with black. Johnee says yes, they are, they’re not ashamed to say it. The line was drawn when the Hailwoods voted out Rina, apparently.
ELIMINATION IS PART OF THE GAME! You big sooks.
The white-blue alliance is confirmed. Cliff says they have no choice, do they? Pestells can’t trust Jofres to have their backs. Shannan says there’s strength in numbers so they have to be allied.
Tiff says she looks at the Auvales and Jofres as one big team now. Mish says she doesn’t get into the politics, she’s there to train her team, nothing else. Commando Steve says the focus should be on getting above the yellow line.
Shannan says it’s amazing how the dynamics of the game change people’s heads… and hearts. Bit of a laugh from Mish at that. She doesn’t look so amused after Princess Fiona says the competition is getting interesting. She looks like she might have had a bit of a cry? Hit too close to home or have the pregnancy hormones kicked in? TINY SCARY FIT BABY!
Anyway, back to the weighing in of the livestock!
Sylvia Previous: 132.9kg
Sylvia Now: 131.7kg
Sylvia Loss: 1.2kg
If you needed further evidence that the scales as shown on the TV are bogus, Sylvia was on the scales with her boot still on. I doubt it weighs a lot, but when every hundred grams can make all the difference.
Tiff reminds Sylvia the boot won’t hold her back. Kayla’s happy with the loss because she figures Sam and her can make up the difference. 6.4kg to go!
Sam Previous: 102.3kg
Sam Now: 101.1kg
Sam Loss: 1.2kg
Oh, they’re so doomed.
Kayla Previous: 101.3kg
Kayla Now: 100.5kg
Kayla Loss: 0.8kg
Kayla’s pretty angry. She says she’s trained the hardest this week, been pushing everyone else to get into training and get going. She thought she’d’ve lost the most for the week, not the least.
Kayla says she’d struggled at the start of the week, telling the rest of the group that her partner was killed in a car accident three months ago. She’s been numb ever since. She’d found someone she loved and was going places with them, but she doesn’t feel much anymore. So it’s been a long road for her to come back. If she was at home feeling like that, she’d be staying in bed, eating and stuff. Now she’s at Camp she goes on the treadmill or has a chat to her family. It’s the best place for her.
Sylvia says Kayla’s the bravest person she knows. They all thought she was going to break, he was the love of her life. Pablo’s getting a bit teary. As is Fiona. Big sooks! Fiona says everyone’s behind her 100%. Except the Auvales, of course. Hah!
Hailwood Total: 6.8kg (4.8kg after penalty)
Hailwood Percentage: 0.94%
Under the yellow line for the very first time, definitely facing elimination. Will it be with the Pestells or Auvales? The Auvales will need at least 7.7kg to beat the Pestells. Commando Steve’s pretty worried. They’ve been on grains all week, after all.
Moses Previous: 112.3kg
Moses Now: 109.3kg
Moses Loss: 3kg
Not bad, that’s his third of the loss down.
4.7kg to go. Johnee should about manage that by himself. But Tenealle’s next to weigh in.
Tenealle Previous: 122.8kg
Tenealle Now: 120.3kg
Tenealle Loss: 2.5kg
Leaving at least 2.2kg for Johnee. Should be easy, even with his grain intake.
Johnee Previous: 195.9kg
Johnee Now: 191kg
Johnee Loss: 4.9kg
Auvale Total: 10.4kg
Auvale Percentage: 2.41%
Oh dear, the Hailwood-Pestell alliance is so boned. Johnee tells us there’s only one alliance that matters in the house, the unstoppable red and black team.
Daniel’s the biggest individual loser of the week and the Jofres are the biggest losing family.
Pestells and Hailwoods now have to decide who’ll be fronting up for elimination. Surely the Hailwoods will put the injured Sylvia up. They can’t be carrying her through challenges? The Pestell choice is going to be harder.
Rob tells us he’ll be happy to wipe out a Hailwood but he’s hoping it’s not Kayla that’s up for elimination after hearing her story tonight.
It looks like it might be Sam from the Hailwoods and Mel from the Pestells? But will we find out tonight… yes, for a change!
Mel does indeed step forward for the Pestells. She wants to prove she really wants to be in the competition.
And who’ll be facing elimination from the Hailwoods? Kayla. They’re obviously hoping the sob story from the scales might see her through. The blues look pretty bitter after elimination so maybe it will have worked?
Tiffiny’s going to push Cliff so hard in training that he has a huge barf in the bin right in the gym.
And then The Game is a giant board game. There’s a giant die to roll to see how many places you move on the board and it looks like there’s some food involved in some way. Jodie is shown eating a 528 calorie hotdog. And now I want a hotdog. Does anyone have hotdogs?
