9×28 – Super Challenge Part Two – Jumping Off Things Boogaloo

Previously on The Biggest Loser the final challenge of the competition kicked off. And it’s Super, thanks for asking!

Tonight the Super Challenge continues with the person coming in last being instantly eliminated. At this stage Caitlin’s in last place having wussed out of crossing the rope bridge across the harbour. Sharon’s in first place, surprisingly, and should be safe if she can keep going…

The episode picks up with Caitlin jumping off the bridge. Katrina’s next out on the rope and she’s doing fairly well, getting right across.

Next up is Kevin. But Kevin’s a big guy, both tall and still very heavy, for all his losing 100kg.

And yet he makes it right across! Well done Kevin. Craig also makes it across on his second attempt, leaving just Caitlin on the far side of the rope bridge.

Caitlin’s feeling very disappointed in herself, she doesn’t want to be last. She reflects on her past life, saying she was bullied a lot in primary school. She used to get called a lot of names so she’s built up a hard exterior.

Caitlin eventually gets back up, realising the worst that can happen is she can fall into the water. She’s going to have to do that later anyway!

She gets to the midway point this time but she wobbles a lot and looks like she might fall in.

Katrina’s at the next station, the one where you have to climb up to the top platform with Shannan and then jump off into the water. Katrina’s freaking out and having trouble even starting the climb. But she’s doubting herself and freaking out. Kevin’s gaining ground… but Kev’s the gentleman again, encouraging Katrina to get up there and refusing her offer of going ahead. He tells her the rope will hold her, it’ll be fine. If they’re going to use it to support Kevin it sure as hell will support Katrina!

Katrina eventually realises there’s nothing for it but to give it a go. Shannan encourages her when she gets to the top to just go to the end and jump straight in.

Meanwhile back at the rope bridge Caitlin has fixed up her wobbles and gets across the bridge. Michelle pulls her in for a big hug when she gets there and then jogs with her to the next station.

Katrina finally, barely, jumps into the harbour. Kevin gets out to the edge of platform, Shannan says go and he’s straight in. HUGE SPLASH. Craig does a pretty big splash too.

Caitlin’s to the platform in last place but Mish has come up the top with her because Shannan thinks it’ll help her to get it done. Mish tries to count her down but Caitlin says she’ll do it in her own time, thankyou!

Her own time is her own SWEET time, it seems.

Just go, Mish says. Caitlin doesn’t like the feeling of freefalling, she did it when skydiving and doesn’t want to do it again.

Caitlin’s sure she doesn’t want to do it. She gives up in the end. So that’ll be that. Right? She’s out?

No. They’re just giving her a ten minute penalty. That’s weak, guys. Should be straight out if you give up!

There’s seven tents at the finish line with four keys available for each it looks like? You have to find a key that fits a lock on the tent and then you’re safe and will get through to the second day of the super challenge.

Sharon gets to the room with the keys for the tents and grabs the only key underneath the number one tent. If there’s only one key it’s got to be the right one, right? Yup, it sure is. Steve’s very proud of his little pocket rocket!

Jane’s coming in second place but she has two keys to choose from… and her first guess is wrong. So if someone gets to the board before her… Luckily Kerry’s a bit behind still… and then Kerry goes for tent 4, letting Toni go for tent 3 as it only has 3 keys and thus she should be able to get it with fewer runs.

Kerry gets to his tent and the first key he’s picked is the right one! Lucky boy.

Toni’s not far behind and has also lucked out in picking the right key the first time.

The Awesome Foursome just needs Katrina to get in now. Katrina’s got five keys to pick from but doesn’t look at the tent number, just picks the green one for tent 6, thinking it’s green for go.

It isn’t green for go. And she dropped the key back at the tents so she doesn’t have it to put up on the board. Dope.

Her second key is also the wrong one but some of the Awesome Foursome are doing the run back with her. Katrina’s getting a bit upset because she feels like maybe she’d done the jump for nothing.

Katrina’s complaining on the run back and the girls are giving her a ribbing, asking if she wants everything handed to her on a platter and she says yes, why not, she should be allowed one day where she’s a brat. But honestly, that’s been a lot of days!

Kevin’s grabbed a key off the tent 5 board… but it’s the wrong one. Craig beats him back to the board but he’s also picked the wrong key. Kevin’s still trying to decide which key to try and he asks someone if it matters which tent he goes for and someone says no. So Kevin grabs a random key off tent 6’s board as Craig’s grabbing another off the 5 board. Katrina only has one key left to check and it’s looking like Kevin took it as Toni’s not happy when she beats Katrina back to the boards.

Katrina’s almost in tears right away. Grab a key off 5 you idiot! Or 7! Caitlin’s still behind you, geez.

Shannan’s trying to get her moving again but Katrina’s breaking down in tears and freaking out. Shut upppp, get on with it.

Meanwhile back at the tents Kevin is twisting the key in tent 6’s lock… and bingo, it’s the right one!

And then, unfortunately, Katrina’s picked the right key for tent 5 on her first attempt at it.

One tent left, can Craig or Caitlin get it?

Steve’s encouraging Craig to run harder because if Caitlin gets to the boards first she might get lucky.

Caitlin gets to the boards and fortunately for her she’s picked one of the ones Craig hadn’t tried. Craig arrives not long after and grabs the remaining key. Caitlin tries her key first and no joy. Craig tries his next and success!

So Caitlin’s out. Back to the main land with you!

Caitlin’s proud of her achievements inside the house. If she’d tried to do it on the outside she’d’ve given up.

4 weeks later Caitlin’s still got her bright red hair and is looking a bit thinner. She wasn’t a big fan of vegetables before coming on the show but now her and her Mum prepare their vegetables early so they’re ready to go when they need them.

Caitlin still has a long way to go, she says, but she’s enjoying being 17 again!

Meanwhile back on Cockatoo Island it’s day two of the Super Challenge already. Hope everyone slept well because it’s another day of scariness and exercise.

Jumping, running, pedalling, flipping and swimming. Hayley says that last one is her favourite.

Whoever comes in last today will be going home. And whoever comes in first will get immunity. Sharon gasps and asks why they couldn’t have that yesterday!

First stage of the super challenge is jumping. Only Michelle’s with Hayley… because Steve and Shannan are up in the rafters of the huge warehouse they’re in. They have to jump out of the rafters with a safety line attached. It starts out at a freefall but gradually pulls them to a stop as they hit the ground. Katrina’s petrified already.

To get up on the gantry they first have to find a gantry pass. They’re hidden in another section of the warehouse. Find a pass, get in line to get up on the gantry. Climb the ladder, out on the gantry, hook in and jump off.

On your marks, get set, BANG! Hayley has a starter’s pistol.

Kerry’s first to find a gantry pass. That ladder looks pretty rusty.

Katrina’s next to find a pass, followed by Jane.

Kerry climbs up the ladders, clips in, climbs over the safety rail and jumps on cue. Well done Kerry!

Katrina looks nervous as hell. But she’s trying to push through the panic and get it done before her brain can worry about it too much.

Katrina squats down instead of jumping off. That could have ended quite badly… and then when she does it properly it very nearly does end horrifically. She nearly brains herself on one of the crossbeams that supports the gantry. She’s clutching her face as she gets to the bottom so I thought maybe she had hit her face. Checking the replay and it seems like she just whacked her arm instead. Bet the producers are breathing bigger sighs of relief than Katrina is right now!

Jane’s up on the gantry and having trouble jumping off. She jumps partway but catches herself and gets back up. Then she tries again but holds onto the railing instead of letting go, getting stuck dangerously on the edge too. Her butt clips the edge of the railing on the way down and rips a hole in her pants. Oops!

Meanwhile in the gantry room Toni’s found a pass. And then Sharon finds one buried in some gravel. Poor old Kevin’s still looking… but not for long!

Toni’s trying not to over think things… and in the end she jumps out quite cleanly, no dramas like most of the rest of them.

Sharon’s balking at climbing over the fence. She’s got tears in her eyes and rolling down her face. She’s terrified. Steve tells her to stop telling herself she can’t. Don’t go from first to last, Sharon!

Craig’s up on the gantry but he’s having a bit of trouble taking the step off the edge. Sharon’s saying she doesn’t want to, she can’t, etc. But Commando Steve’s not going to let her pike out. He’s trying to hold onto her rope and get her to let go of the railing but she can’t manage that either.

He eventually gets her to grab his hand and then gran his hand with her other hand and then fall off more than jump off. She’s PISSED at the bottom, but she got it done.

Michelle’s still trying to help Craig to jump, but with Steve available now he trots across for encouragement. Mish says Craig wasn’t going to go off the ledge until the Commando was there to hold his hand. It’s a bromance, she says. HAHAHAHA.

Kevin’s up on the gantry. He asks again to make sure it’s rated for his weight and Shannan says it’s absolutely fine, they’re stunt professionals setting it up. After that reassurance Kevin jumps off but ends up flailing about a bit. He says he was trying to do the Iron Man landing, but it came out more like a teabag dangling down.

Kerry’s up to the next stage which is aquabikes. There’s single bikes and double bikes and Kerry picks a single. Got to maintain his lead.

Katrina and Jane get into a double together which is a huge mistake as they first hit the pier and then go the wrong way. Katrina’s quite happy to have someone to giggle along with.

Sharon’s still pulling herself together but Toni’s waiting for her on a double bike as well. Meanwhile Kerry’s gotten to the end of the ride and has to push his bike up the slipway by himself. But he’s still in first.

Then back at the bikes Craig and Kevin have to share the last double bike. 300 kilograms of dude, Kevin’s worried they might sink. Craig thinks they’ll sink or he’ll fall off. But they’re determined to catch up to the girls. Go boys!

Kerry’s at the tire flip section. 100 metre course, four tires to flip each. Going to be a tough slog. Kerry says it’s the hardest part of the day.

Katrina and Jane are trotting to the next obstacle while Kerry’s doing the tire flip by himself, supposedly. Yet when he puts his fourth tire on top of his stack there’s one in another contestant’s pile. Hmmm.

Toni and Sharon finally make it to the slipway. Sharon’s told by Toni to run ahead as she’s the stronger runner. After a bit of back and forth Sharon does trot ahead. Then Kevin and Craig get their bike parked and start trotting to the tire flipping section.

Kerry’s way out in the lead and gets to the final leg. A one hundred metre swim out to the finish boat. Didn’t even take his shoes off. Not worried by the swim at all, or any sharks, just wants to get it done.

Jane’s next to the swim. Jane says she can’t swim so she knows it’s going to take her a whole. She actually sprints off the wharf and into the water, trying to get as far as she can with a jump. Then sort of casually floats over to the boat.

Katrina’s next and also jumps in pretty quickly and swims out to the boat.

Sharon’s at the tire flip and doing fairly well. She gets her tires started and then does some flipping for Toni. Toni’s calling out to her to keep going on her own tires and after getting one tire about a quarter of the way she moves back onto her own tires. Dangerous strategy!

Craig does a lot of tire flipping with Commando Steve so he has a system for doing it well and quickly.

Kevin’s trying to make up ground on Craig. He’s pushing hard as he feels like his main strength is, well, his strength.

Meanwhile Sharon’s still helping Toni. Toni’s trying to tell her to stop but Sharon’s not a good listener, she tells us. Both of them should be quite safe with the two boys fighting it out.

Sharon’s helping Toni in the run through the tunnel as well. When they get to the end of the tunnel there’s an arrow pointing them to the right. Sharon wants to get a bit of a lead on the boys so she turns the arrow to face the left. They think it’s very amusing. Pretty sure that’s a shitty, bitchy move. Eliminate them both for cheating as far as I’m concerned!

Craig gets to the sign first and heads off in the wrong direction. Steve on the boat eventually notices and calls out to go back the other way. Can Kevin use that time to catch up? Maybe!

Tuesday 7.30pm the challenge will finish. Katrina and Kerry have immunity so the spots above the line will be in short supply.

Can the Awesome Foursome survive another elimination or will one finally be sent home?
