9×27 – Super Challenge Fun Times Go!

Previously on The Biggest Loser Rodger got sent home again. Poor fella!

The “Awesome Foursome” has been revealed and they’re forming a powerful voting bloc at eliminations.

Tonight there’s a lot of Face Your Fears stuff. Katrina has to get in a tank with sharks… with Paul the shark attack survivor we saw earlier in the series!

But first the trainers have turned up to the house to find out who got eliminated. Rodger’s gone but it’s what Mish expected.

Then Hayley turns up to announce it’s challenge week. Super Challenge! You’ll need to rise to the challenges presented this week because by the end of the week three people will be sent home. That’s so many for one week.

Time to prepare for Super Challenge week and Steve says the best way to prepare is to get training.

Craig’s worried he might go home this week because he’s come to far to throw it away. Sharon’s worried because 3 of 8 isn’t good odds. But Steve tells us he hasn’t gotten them this far to have them fail now.

Shannan’s asking his team if they’re ready to kick some arse, then say it again like they mean it.

Mish has Caitlin and Toni left in her team. She says it’s their hero moment this week, time to prove what they’re capable of. Mish tells us they’ve both got a lot to offer.

And now we’re straight into challenge week. Shannan’s got a grin on his face so this is going to be fun!

Shannan, Mish and Steve have silver containers when they come back into the house at night. Since Hayley came in and threw down the challenge gauntlet they thought they’d come in and throw some challenges of their own. Time to get the adrenaline flowing.

They’re spoken to their mates at Adrenalin.com.au and sorted out some crazy challenges for them all. Heart pumping, blood curdling, hold onto your seat challenges that will raise their hair, Shannan says. Mish advises they remember to wear undies.

All the little packs get handed out. Craig says, “Thanks Boss”. Steve wonders if he’ll still call him boss after he opens it.

Toni’s got skydiving in her. She’s scared but she also can’t say no. Katrina’s got a shark dive. Caitlin’s going skydiving. She was sitting next to Katrina and Katrina was thinking she didn’t want to go skydiving but then was more terrified of her actual one.

Kerry’s got a V8 hot lap. Not scary at alllll. Jane and Sharon have both got stunt plane aerobatic flights. Sharon says she’ll give it a go but she’s not good with motion sickness. Jane’s hoping she’s too fat to get in the plane!

Katrina says if she comes back missing a limb at least it’s a couple extra kilograms off!

Michelle’s with Toni and Caitlin for skydiving. She knows the rest of the house is jealous of them because they get to throw themselves out of a perfectly good plane. Why would you do it, Mish asks. Because you can!

Caitlin’s determined to do it, which is scaring her a little because she knows she’s definitely doing it.

Toni and Caitlin are both having second thoughts once they get up into the air.

Toni sees that the jump is imminent and knows it’s time to say no if she’s going to… but she doesn’t. And they wiggle to the edge and go straight out!

Toni’s cheeks are flapping and wobbling like mad, it’s hilarious! She says it doesn’t feel like you’re moving, it’s more like everything else is moving. And everything’s very still and silent. She’s definitely not silent though, saying oh my god a lot. Hah!

Meanwhile, up on the plane Caitlin’s instructor is shoving her out towards the door and she realises she can’t stop it so it’s time to calm down and then she falls out of the plane. Weeee!

Toni’s stoked on the way down and they land safely. Toni’s first words are that it was phenomenal. Instructor guy is having a good chuckle at it too. Then Caitlin lands not far away… but not as elegantly, she faceplants but she’s fine and has a big stupid grin on her face. She says it’s the most extreme thing she’s ever done and she’s glad she did it. But she’s not sure she’d do it again!

Meanwhile Kevin and Kerry are off for their hot lap in a V8. Shannan says this is one of his favourite adrenaline sports. A few months ago neither boy would have fit into the car but now they can get their heart rates up without even training.

George Elliott is one driver, former Nascar champion. John Boston is the other driver. Shannan says when Kevin and Kerry think brake, they’re still thinking accelerate. Kevin’s very excited to have a go at this. Not sure he’s scared at all, just pumped.

Shannan’s in the dressing room with Kevin as he puts on his racing suit. The clothing guy admits they’d’ve struggled to fit Kevin in one 6 months ago. Kevin’s waist measurement when Shannan first met him was 2 metres 20 centimetres, so something like this wasn’t possible. Today he got into a suit straight off the rack.

It’s a tight fit in the racing bucket seat for Kev, but he does fit in and get strapped in properly. Shannan asks if he’s nervous and he says no, it’s going to be heaps of fun.

Once they get up towards 100km/h Kevin starts giggling, awesome.

Kerry says it’s hard to gauge the speed in the car and Kevin can’t believe they do this for a living. The two cars are racing each other, pushing each other to go faster around Eastern Creek Raceway.

Kev says it beats training in the gym, go faster!

Shannan says it’s like a snowball effect, getting that feeling of adrenaline, you want to keep going. It’ll be a good kick in the backside for both to get them through the challenge.

Afterwards Kevin is cackling and rocking in his seat saying they should go again. Hah!

Jane and Sharon turn up for their aerobatics flight. Excited but very nervous. Steve says they’re Red Baron planes but they look more like Red Bull racing planes, not Red Baron planes.

The two pilots have nearly 50 years experience between them in flying and aerobatics.

Commando Steve’s excited for Jane and Sharon but not quite as excited as if he was doing it himself.

Sharon’s waving cheerfully out of the plane but Jane looks a petrified. Jane’s pilot asks her how she’s feeling and she says she’s not sure, which he says is good!

Annnd takeoff! Sharon’s feeling fine so far, they’re getting a ways up and she’s not even worried about that.

Jane’s pilot then says he’s ready to roll and with a quick 3-2-1 they’re rolled and flying inverted. Sharon’s doing okay still… until she looks over and sees Jane upside down. And staying upside down for a long time. And that’s it for Sharon, the barf bag comes out and she can’t stop puking into it. So unfortunately they have to return to base. Awww.

But that’s not going to stop Jane’s pilot. Rolls, flips, spins, snap rolls, the whole bag of tricks he’s throwing at her. Jane’s determined to hang in there and not throw up.

Sharon’s very proud of herself for getting in the plane and going for a bit of a fly. Her tummy got the best of her but she tried her best.

Jane’s back on the ground and the pilot says she’s done really well, he’s very impressed. When they meet up with Steve the pilot says Jane had said she’d rather do a training session with Steve than do it again. Steve says he’ll have to work harder then!

Katrina and Craig are at the aquarium. Craig’s two biggest fears are sharks and snakes. But he’s looking a lot perkier than Katrina. As they’re looking in at the sharks a stingray swims past the window very close and Katrina flips out. Craig says he promised Spanner he’d look after her but if a shark gets her it’s out of her hands. Not part of the agreement!

And then Paul de Gelder shows up. Mish, Shannan and Steve thought he’d be the perfect person to come with them today. Paul had actually got into a tank with a shark a few months after his attack because you’ve got to get past the fear, can’t let it control you.

Craig thinks this is another chance to say goodbye to the old version of him. He used to have no drive, now he looks forward to getting up and working hard every day.

Katrina thinks this experience will serve her well when she gets back home since any time something seems too tough, she can remember she went diving with sharks.

Paul tells them that if he can do this, they can do this. Craig has to go first though, Katrina makes him go first.

Soon as they get into the tank there’s a shark right near the gate. And it doesn’t get any easier with the sharks swimming around and over them frequently. Craig looks up at one point to see shark teeth right above him and realise the shark could take his head right off.

Both are impressed by Paul’s bravery in getting in there even more than their own bravery. Katrina almost swallows her breathing apparatus at one point and frequently has to grab on to Paul for reassurance. Hah!

Paul’s very proud of them both and is obviously pretty happy to have been part of it with them.

And now it’s time for the Super Challenge!

Hayley’s harbourside for the start of the challenge… and she says it’ll be the final challenge in the Biggest Loser house. Eight contestants, two days and one huge race. By the end there’ll be just six left. At the end of each day the last person to finish will be going home.

First stage is kayaking to Cockatoo Island. There they’ll face a series of obstacles. At the finish area there’s only seven tents and whoever doesn’t have a tent will be eliminated. And as it’s a challenge Katrina can’t use her golden immunity bracelet!

And for those who survive today they get a special treat tonight. Glamping on Cockatoo Island! Glamorous camping, which everyone is a bit dubious about, but they’re all from the country so most have probably been camping before. Katrina says she loves it in fact!

Kerry takes an early lead in the kayak leg.

Kevin’s back at the start line being gentlemanly to Toni, helping balance the boat while she gets in and sets off. Then he tries to get into his own kayak and doesn’t last long before tipping over. Oops!

Katrina’s hips are starting to hurt and she’s starting to lose ground, rowing around in circles on the harbour. Looks like the rescue boat might have to intervene.

Kerry’s struggling a bit at the front, legs are hurting a lot. Sharon whizzes past, can’t stop to chat!

Katrina’s way back now, muttering and going feral to herself. Says she won’t be able to walk again. Get over it!

Sharon’s first to land with Toni not far behind. Jane’s next in and they’re off on the running leg.

Steve’s at the first obstacle cheering Sharon on. They’ve got to get from point A to point B, it’s a three cables in a triangle bridge type thing. Oh, my mistake, it’s two. One high one low. Balance on the lower one and shuffle across while holding on to the rope above your head. The other one seems to have a camera suspended from it so they can watch!

If you fall off the rope you have to get out and go back to the start of the obstacle at the end of the line, if there’s a line to get on.

Sharon’s freaking out a bit so she’s started singing a song to herself, “One two three four five, once I caught a fish alive. Six seven eight nine ten, then I let him go again!” Mish is giggling at her talking to herself at the other side.

Toni’s next to get on the traversal, she says her balance is not one of her strong points, but she shuffles across successfully in one go. Mish tells us Toni’s her turtle – slow and steady – but slow and steady wins the race!

Jane’s next on the rope. She doesn’t have too much trouble with it.

Katrina’s in seventh place by the time she gets into the dock.

Poor Kevin’s in last place. He keeps falling off his kayak but he recalls not even fitting in the rowing machines when he started. He’s come a long way since then!

The rescue boat helps him tip his boat up the right way at one point. He must be quite a ways behind by now.

Kerry makes it across the rope bridge with no drama either.

Sharon’s up to the next stage. It’s an eight metre platform suspended above Sydney Harbour. Shannan’s up the top calling Sharon up. But she really doesn’t like heights, she’s not eager to jump in.

Sharon starts heading back towards Shannan but Shannan tells her not to come back, she’s got to do it. She’s got a lead and this is her chance to do it. Shannan tells her the longer she delays the harder it’ll get. This is her chance to come first at something. Sharon just can’t do it.

Shannan talks her up to the edge again and says she’s just got to do it, one two three and go… and she goes! Plunges straight off and into the water which is freezing cold. She’s swearing up to Shannan who’s chuckling.

Toni’s next but she can’t even get up top of the tower. She lets Jane go first, which is a big mistake. Jane’s not hesitating at all. Shannan starts counting her down but Jane jumps on two. Straight off and in, no mucking about.

Kerry’s next to the tower but he’s trying to get Toni to go ahead of him. She’s still bitching and moaning about the cold water. It’s just cold water, get over it.

Toni’s got her cranky pants on she says, she tells Shannan to shutup then says sorry. Just three two one and go!

Toni gets in the water and says she hates Shannan and points at some of the crew and says she hates them too.

Kerry gets up next and jumps straight in too.

Craig’s up to the rope bridge bit. He’s fighting hard to maintain his balance. He’s quite tall and very heavy still so he’s finding it tough.

He falls partway off and tries to hang on. Steve tells him to push with his legs but Craig can’t manage to get his legs back under him and he’s the first to take a dip. Back to the end of the line!

Caitlin’s next up now… but she doesn’t even start the traverse, just gets up on there and shortly afterwards says she can’t do it and steps down. Laaaame.

Friday 8.30pm (check your local guides etc) the Super Challenge continues. Will Caitlin make it across the bridge? Katrina’s going to have (another) meltdown that may spell the end of the Awesome Foursome. And hopefully Kevin will make it through because god damn I’m sick of the rest of them.
