9×25 – Makeover Day. And then PIGS. IN. MUD!
Previously on The Biggest Loser it was Makeover Day at last. And tonight it’s still Makeover Day. Does it ever end?
When we left the show on Wednesday night Kevin had just proposed to his long term girlfriend Julie and we were waiting for her answer. Tonight we better bloody find out what she says pretty quickly.
Later tonight… PIGS. IN. MUUUUUUUUUUUD!!!
As the episode picks up we’re getting a replay of Kevin pulling Julie aside on the catwalk. And proposing again, much to the delight of the crowd. Julie’s got a huge grin on her face as Kevin proposes. She pauses a moment and then says yes! Hooray!
Oooh, it’s a pretty ring. One big rock with a half dozen smaller ones either side along the band. Simple but beautiful.
Back to the makeovers! Rodger’s next out the door. He looks… like a normal dude. Blue shirt with the top couple of buttons undone to show a white shirt underneath. Tan slacks. Nothing special, but he looks great. Rodger’s been the longest out of the house and has had to go back to work and all the rest, so losing over 19kg in that time is a good effort, as Michelle tells us.
Mish asks him if he’s happy and Rodger says he’s happy as… well, he can’t say that. Mish says he totally can so Rodger says he’s happy as a pig in shit!
Old Rodger tells him he’s looking good and it’s up to him to keep up the effort and finish it for his family. Michelle gives him a big cuddle as the emotions overwhelm Rodger. Rodger says he’s a big sook but Mish thinks it’s wonderful. Then they bring out the family who’s not seen him that long ago really.
Daughter says she’s not seen him looking like that, he looks like he did in the photo they’ve seen from when he was 21. His wife says she’d been worried she’d be a widow in her sixties, though she’d never told him that. He says that’s not going to happen anymore.
One person is missing from the equation, Mish says. Where’s the other daughter, the preggers one? She comes out and gets a big hug and Rodger touches her tummy. He’s not seen her since she fell pregnant as she lives in Queensland. Mish says they’ve swapped bellies, Bree had been giggling about that already. Bree hasn’t seen him that skinny either, not even in the pictures of him holding her as a baby.
Next up, Caitlin! The youngest contestant on the show and Mish says she’s gorgeous. Awww!
Caitlin steps out with a pretty blue top, black belt and a black skirt. The blue top has sparkly bits across the shoulders. And her hair is very bright red! Caitlin says she feels confident, she never would have been able to do the catwalk eight weeks ago. Mish tells us Caitlin’s getting a taste of what life should be like as a 17 year old.
Caitlin’s family comes out and it’s her Mum, brother and Nan. Nan says she looks fantastic. Brother says she looks amazing. Nan says Caitlin had considered her her best friend. Caitlin has actual friends but she keeps putting them off, not wanting to go hang out with them.
Caitlin feels a lot better compared to day one, she tells us.
Shannan says the next lady is one of the most humble, gentle and caring women he’s had the pleasure of training. Oh, he’s talking about Jane. I thought maybe he was talking about Katrina and lying through his teeth!
Jane’s got a black wrap jacket over a white top with a black skirt. Apparently it’s the first time she’s worn a dress or skirt in decades. Jane might now be able to find love, Shannan says. Jane hadn’t considered it before, knew she had to pick herself up first.
There’s no mention of finding a dude to love, just a lot of “someone special” and so on. Soooo she is a lesbian then? Small town, probably doesn’t want to say it out loud, poor bugger.
Next up is Craig, who is also looking for love Steve says. He had been engaged to be married but it fell apart, if you’ve forgotten. Craig’s wearing a checked blue shirt with a red one underneath, plain dark pants and some converse sneakers. Craig’s feeling a lot better about himself now, though he’s still pretty large. He doesn’t recognise himself in the screen at first since he’s all fluffed up for makeover day.
Still a lot of work to go for Craig, but he’s on the way. Time to say hello to his niece, nephew, brother and sister-in-law. Craig gives huge hugs to the kids and they’re all amazed how much he’s changed. Sister-in-law is a bit choked up, saying she’s not seen him so healthy and happy before.
Lachie, the nephew, says Craig looks younger and now he’ll hopefully get to ride bikes with him. Aww!
Shannan says he has a soft spot for Mums, everyone knows that, and this next one is his Mum of the series (really?!) – Katrina. She’s so annoying and mean.
Katrina comes out in a flowery dress that does nothing for her figure, she looks huge still. Shannan asks her how much she’s changed, repeatedly, because Katrina keeps saying a little bit, she’s got a way to go, etc.
Katrina looks quite shocked when the picture of her comes up on the screen. Shannan says she looks stunning. Awww.
Time for Spanner and the two sons to come out on stage. Spanner’s actually looking a bit healthier and thinner himself, well done!
Big hugs all round. Katrina says she’s missed them all a lot. Spanner says she was pretty before she left but have a look at her now. She’s the one for him, he says. One of the sons is in tears too, amazed how much she’s changed. He loves her, awwww.
Spanner says he’s lost 10kg himself, which is not a bad effort for doing it on the outside.
Then all the contestants come back out on the catwalk for one last strut and hug of various people and so on. It’s one night of fun and friends and family.
But then of course they have a surprise for the contestants, Mish says. After makeover day they get picked up from the house later that night so they can go out for a challenge.
Mud, hills of mud, water washing around, big rocks and more mud!
Hayley’s in the middle of the mudpit. It’s Benedict Recycling, apparently. It’s a knockout challenge. It’s a battle that will reveal alliances (why are the ladies looking at each other, someone wonders) and will show the lengths they’ll go to to win.
The object is to knock your opponents out of the game by filling your rival’s container with sand up to the line. And the sand is allll the way over there, on top of that hill in the distance. Oh dear!
To get to the hill you have to navigate through some sandstone blocks and a whole lot of mud. Once the sand reaches your line, you’re out. And the last man or woman standing will get immunity at the next weigh in. Kerry doesn’t really want to face the yellow line so it’d be helpful, he says.
Hayley asks Katrina if it’s pick on the boys night and Katrina says she wouldn’t say that, but now she’s brought it up… Katrina tells us the “Awesome Foursome” is going to gang up on the others. That’d be Katrina, Sharon, Jane and Toni apparently.
Ready, set, MUD PIGS!
Everyone has shinguards on tonight, along with helmets. And it smells like urine, Sharon says.
Nobody wants to slip over in the big mud pits because then you’ll be muddy and wet the whole challenge long.
Sharon hates hills. Katrina says she’s slowed down a lot by it.
Craig’s the first to be targeted it seems with Kerry chipping in alongside the Awesome Foursome. Then Kevin and Rodger also target Craig. Nobody wants Craig to have a chance it seems. Hopefully he starts putting his buckets of sand in one of the ringleaders containers, make it easier for them to be knocked out?
Kevin says they’ve targeted Craig because he’s in second place on the overall leaderboard. Kerry’s in the lead since Cal’s been knocked out.
Craig’s out first and pretty early on in the piece. Now it’ll start to get interesting.
Oh, really, the girls are targeting Caitlin next? That’s fucking weak. They try and justify it by saying she lost a big number this past week and she’s a returning contestant. Yeah, so is Rodger, and he’s a bigger threat. But okay.
After Caitlin’s out they decide to target Kevin next. Kevin’s having a hard time and asks if he didn’t get enough mud the last season?!
Kevin’s out next. Manages to get one bucket into Rodger’s container before Hayley stops him. Caitlin quickly knocks his other bucket over so nobody can tip his bucket into someone else’s container.
Jane says she’s always been really competitive but she’s kept it under wraps… until now. She waits on the far edge of one of the mud pits for Rodger and then tackles him into the mud. They have a bit of a wrestle and a laugh in the mud. Rodger tells us it was good because it was all in good fun.
Sharon and Katrina are having a ball, swinging their buckets around and having fun.
Rodger and Kerry start focusing on Jane but it’s too late, Rodger’s out. He’d offered Hayley a hug before but she scampered away. Later shots show Hayley still pristine so I guess he didn’t catch up.
Kerry’s been knocked out by the girls now too. The four girls are realising how much power they have and it’s ruffling some feathers, Jane says.
Now will the Awesome Foursome play out the challenge to its natural conclusion or will they pick one of them to win? Katrina doesn’t need it, she already has golden immunity she can use any time she wants, so that leaves Sharon, Jane and Toni?
After another bloody ad break… Jane’s putting sand into her own container. Sharon’s still got no sand in her container, at all. The girls have decided Sharon is the one who deserves it. Sharon’s not sure she’s worth it. Katrina tells us Sharon works hard and is a great person to have around the house.
Jane’s the next out. Then Katrina. Then Toni. So Sharon wins and is in tears as a result. Awwww!
Hayley congratulates her, carefully. Doesn’t want to get mud all over her.
Sharon’s very happy, saying she’s made real friends in there and she’s going to enjoy keeping up with them on the outside.
Next Tuesday, at 7.30pm again, it’s last chance training and another weigh in and elimination. Now the “Awesome Foursome” has been outed it could be a fun one. Better not fall below that yellow line, girls!
