9×11 – Big Kev versus Big Mary… FIGHT!

Previously on The Biggest Loser Kerry won immunity at the challenge. Matt was sent home thanks to the fridge, Natalie’s sick and Big Kev wilted at the challenge and has been carted off to hospital.

Tonight we find out what’s wrong with Big Kev, other than his morbid obesity. Also Big Mary is having a Big Blowup in last chance training… which means there’s another weigh in and elimination looming!

But first we’re off with Big Kev at hospital as he gets checked after his heart troubles at the challenge. He describes three sharp pains in his chest that grabbed then released him. He also noticed some skips in his heart beat. I’m no heart doctor but both of those sound pretty bad!

Shannan’s at Camp checking up on Natalie who is in bed coughing and looking miserable. She says she hasn’t eaten much and what she has eaten has just come back up. Shannan says it’s not the sort of weightloss they want, but they’ll take it!

Steve’s got his black team out on the lawn in a rainstorm. The girls look a little chilly, but a double intensity training session for double the trouble week should warm them up, right Steve?

So much mud! Sharon says she was LITERALLY face down in the mud, but she LITERALLY can’t get her face down in the mud because her gut is LITERALLY too big to allow that.

Craig’s being pushed hard in training. He’s the biggest contestant so he needs to push harder than ever and earn his town a bunch of money.

Craig started riding BMX when he was 12, raced for about 10 years. He raced all the way up to world championship levels, but once he hit 18 he didn’t train and soon didn’t ride at all. To be fair, some of his champion BMX riding photos he’s looking pretty tubby too. Don’t think it started at 18.

His nephew is starting on BMX now but Craig can’t give him the help and guidance he’d like to and Craig thinks the nephew at some point will realise Craig’s not the role model he should be.

At the end of the training session Craig is trying to dump Sharon in the lake but Cal comes along and shoves them both in, which makes him seem like a bit of a dick… until he launches himself head first in after them, splashing water everywhere. Bwahaha!

Shannan’s just got three girls for training today. He starts by saying “And then there were three” and Mary goes to hold up three fingers but does two first. Smart!

Lots of boxing training again today. Mary’s looking knackered and can’t be far off her temper tantrum. Surprisingly Katrina and Shannon are just getting shit done!

Shannan has them pushing benches back and forth across the floor. Katrina and Shannon manage to do it, but Mary. Mary has to have some drama. She keeps stopping the movement and Shannan keeps making her do it over again. Shannan wants her to push harder, pull a big number and get them over the yellow line this week.

After an ad break Mary is screaming that she can’t do it, she can’t do it, etc. Shannan’s got the drama out that he wanted, now it’s time to get it done.

Shannan thinks there’s no need to pad physical efforts with crying. Less drama, get it done! Shannan doesn’t think she’s experienced tough love before in her life.

Mary finally does manage to get it done after a big blowup and an extra shove from Shannan. Mary says the drama masks her problems and she’s glad Shannan calls her out on it.

Mary doesn’t look too happy about it at the end of training but maybe she’s just too tired to lift her head enough to look at Shannan.

Big Kev’s seeing a cardiologist today. More shirtless Big Kev on a treadmill!

The doctor can’t find anything wrong with his heart, it’s strong and healthy, the problem must be somewhere else. Are they going to investigate what that could be? Seems not! He’s allowed to keep training, says the cardiologist, so that’s that?

Back at Camp, including Big Kev being back there, it’s time for weigh in. They’re still using the lightsaber sound, which surely they can’t do without paying for the rights. And why would you? Weird.

Anyway, Matt’s been sent home thanks to The Fridge, Black has two champs with immunity and a 2kg weight advantage thanks to the challenge.

But Blue will weigh in first. Hayley asks who in the Blue Team is feeling the pressure and they all put their hands up, even Shannan. Says it was one of his hardest weeks because only three of five could train this week.

First to weigh in is Kevin!

Kevin Previous: 185.9kg
Kevin Now: 180.6kg
Kevin Loss: 5.3kg

Not bad for the big fella.

And now we finally find out what was wrong with him. Turns out it was a result of his blood pressure medication. Medication he NO LONGER NEEDS! He’s been on them for five years and now he’s been on the show he’s completely off the medication. Very good result it has to be said.

Shannon Previous: 89.1kg
Shannon Now: 87.7kg
Shannon Loss: 1.4kg

Not bad, she’s not big enough to lose a lot really.

Shannon’s learning to be happy now. Shannan asks if she’s looking forward to training and she pauses, laughs and says yes, of course!

Mary Previous: 168.1kg
Mary Now: 164.9kg
Mary Loss: 3.2kg

Not a huge result but it’ll have to do now. Mary says she’s been struggling in the environment. She’s had high points and low points where she doesn’t want to be there anymore. Mary’s sad. She gets sad sometimes.

Craig says they used to be up around 180kg and next week they’ll’ve lost 20kg. Mary says she can’t keep it up and Hayley says she can. Mary doesn’t know if she wants to be there anymore. Katrina makes a face at that and… for once she’s right! Of course it’s difficult, Mary, and of course there’s pressure. But you’re losing weight and getting healthier. Kev asks her if she’d’ve lost 3kg at home and Mary says no, so shouldn’t she see this as success, he asks?

Wow, how much has Kev grown?!

Mary repeats she’s no good in the environment, Hayley says it’s a team environment but Mary says she’s not. Mary needs to let herself fit in, Shannan says. She really does need to be there though.

Shannan gives her a big hug after, back on the platforms. Kev says he wanted to leave too, but when he got back home he realised it was a huge mistake. Shannan can tell something’s bothering Mary but can’t get in yet.

Natalie Previous: 109.1kg
Natalie Now: 105.9kg
Natalie Loss: 3.2kg

Natalie’s thrilled because she hadn’t been able to train but obviously the lowered food intake helped. She may have to get sick again, she jokingly suggests.

Katrina crosses herself before getting up on the scales. Preeeetty sure God has something to say about gluttony.

Katrina Previous: 123.5kg
Katrina Now: 120.2kg
Katrina Loss: 3.3kg

Blue Team Total: 16.4kg
Blue Team Percentage: 2.43%

That won’t be enough!

Shannan’s happy with their result overall, saying it’s a good result for week 3 and so Mary needs to keep her chin up, get her game face on! Mary looks unhappy still!

To beat the Blue Team Black will need to lose at least 20.8kg. Steve says they better have bloody done it!

They have a 2kg advantage. Kerry and Toni will weigh in first as they have immunity. If they’ve put on weight they lose immunity, don’t forget!

Toni Previous: 111.7kg
Toni Now: 109.8kg
Toni Loss: 1.9kg

Toni’s not too happy with her result. Steve tells us the immunity may have affected her result so he hopes the rest of black have done the job.

Kerry Previous: 124.6kg
Kerry Now: 122kg
Kerry Loss: 2.6kg

Cal Previous: 120.8kg
Cal Now: 117.4kg
Cal Loss: 3.4kg

Jane Previous: 109.4kg
Jane Now: 107kg
Jane Loss: 2.4kg

Craig Previous: 165.6kg
Craig Now: 161.2kg
Craig Loss: 4.4kg

Craig’s goal of riding a bike with his nephew is getting closer every day, he says.

4.1kg to go to be safe. Only two of them left to weigh in, Sharon and Caitlin. Steve’s looking stressed, Hayley says. Steve asks who they have left and thinks for a long moment, then says yeah they’ve probably done it.

Sharon Previous: 99.3kg
Sharon Now: 97.8kg
Sharon Loss: 1.5kg

That leaves 2.6kg for Caitlin, a not insurmountable total.

Sharon says her loss is okay but she’s still crying. She hates being sad, she wants to be happy. She says it’s disheartening seeing that result because she’d worked so hard all week. Steve tells her it’s all good.

Caitlin Previous: 122.2kg
Caitlin Now: 118.6kg
Caitlin Loss: 3.6kg

Smashed it! Well done Caitlin.

Black Team Total: 21.8kg
Black Team Percentage: 2.55%

Black win again, Blue face elimination AGAIN. Crazy.

Caitlin’s 3.6kg means she’s the Biggest Loser of the week, too. Amazing! Caitlin says it feels great to be the Biggest Loser.

Without the 2kg weight advantage Black would have lost the weigh in. Shannan says he’s a bit disappointed, but he’s so proud of what his team did this week.

$22,920 was raised for the town kitty today. $47,010 in total now. Of course it’d be $77,010 without Cal stealing $30,000.

Blue now has to choose two people to face elimination with Black voting on who to send home. Going to be a hard discussion among Blue. Shannan wants four people who are ready to fight their way back into the competition. Shannan brings them in for a group hug and Mary only comes in after Shannan tells her to, then looks very uncomfortable the whole time.

Blue has a chat and decide to choose based on who wants to stay. Mary doesn’t want to stay. Natalie and Katrina both want to stay. Shannon’s said she’d go up but she’d like another week. So it seems Kev will put himself up to keep Shannon out of the firing line.

In the elimination room the Black Team is sitting a little forlornly. They get to send someone home again. Who are their choices? Kevin and Mary, of course, the ads have been telling us for days who it’s going to be. Stupid bastards.

Send Mary home, for the love of god. Kev’s clearly making a lot of progress without his idiot mother holding him back!

Craig’s surprised because Mary and Kev both have big numbers to lose for the team and to raise more money for the town.

Caitlin says Kev’s the bigger threat, he puts more effort in at the gym than Mary so he’ll continue pulling bigger numbers.

Kev volunteered to spare Shannon as she wanted to stay and keep pushing. He’s not from Ararat, which does weigh on his mind. Has since he came to Camp Biggest Loser again. Kev knows he needs to be there and he does want to be there, but this is already his second chance at it. Mary’s on her first chance and she has a long way still to go. The rest of Blue say she’d had a few chances but Kev’s still willing to give her another chance and if that means him going home, so be it.

So what’s Mary think? She’s not coping in the house, she says. When the trainers are there she does okay but she’s just not very self motivated. She can’t guarantee she’ll try any harder if she stays. She needs to go home and try her best there, come back and lose a lot of weight for finale.

Mary thinks she’ll do okay at home, she has support at home. She’s tried her best and her best obviously isn’t good enough for other people. Sharon has dubious face and says it’s not their standards she needs to live up to, it’s her own. They believe she can do so much more.

Mary thinks she’s let them all down, she can’t cope. Kev’s shaking his head, tells Hayley he was hoping for a lot more fight from Mary. He hopes if she does go home she goes home and push very hard. But he doesn’t think she will.

Kev says he still needs to stay, he’s still the heaviest contestant this season (which is crazy when you think about it) and he needs to continue working at his health and weightloss. And he’d like to lose a bunch more weight for his Blue Team to raise money for Ararat.

Mary just says to keep Kev in the house if he really wants to be there.

Whoever receives the most votes will be eliminated and return home immediately. Hope they send Mary since Michelle can kick her arse then. Not sure Kev will get the same treatment? Hope so!

Craig says it wasn’t an easy decision, Kev’s said he’s gunning for Craig… but Mary’s heart’s not in it so he’s voted for her.

Sharon says it wasn’t a hard choice in the end for her, she’s also chosen Mary. Two more votes and she goes home.

Cal says it’s a once in a lifetime chance and you don’t want someone to waste it. So he’s voted for Mary too. Mary whispers “Thank god!”

Toni wondered whether to choose the person who wants to be there or the person who needs to. She chose to vote for Mary. So that’s four votes and Mary will be going home.

Too late to take it back now!

Kev lives to fight some more.

Mary’s 100% determined to get to her goal weight. Kerry says he thinks she can do it.

Mary thinks her husband will be so proud of her, he’ll keep her on the straight and narrow and if there’s any challenges they need help with back in town she’ll be on call for them.

As Mary leaves she says she’s proud of herself, has got rid of a lot of her demons. This is just a starting point. She won’t be going back to 180kg.

Next time on The Biggest Loser can Michelle fix Mary or will she be defeated too?

Also some weird challenge/auction thing to get some rewards of some kind. And The Fridge is back. And the result turns the game on its head, says Mr Voiceover Man.

Which is a neat trick, I thought they’d all be a bit too big to do handstands!
