9×09 – Fridgey McFridgepants returns!

Previously on The Biggest Loser Cam was sent home at Elimination, kinda, because his heart has something very seriously wrong with it.

Tonight! A challenge back in Ararat with Michelle and the townsfolk. Back at Camp Biggest Loser The Fridge is back, as is training. And Jane’s going to reveal what’s been holding her back, but will anybody care?

First though, glum faces go back into the lounge room after elimination. Nobody’s real thrilled that Cam had to go home on such a note.

Everyone says they’re going to miss Cam’s motivation and friendliness around the house.

Except Katrina, who has to point out that they’ve lost two strong blokes each week now.

Matt’s feeling a little vulnerable now because he’s the last original bloke on Blue and their strongest competitor.

Steve’s got his team out on the grass again and he’s feeling pretty good because he hasn’t lost anyone yet. But he doesn’t want to underestimate Blue because anything could change at a moment’s notice in Biggest Loser.

Steve’s got them doing “leopard crawling” again and Kerry says he’s not built for it, but he gives it a go.

Kerry’s still bummed after the weigh in. Steve says she’s looking numbed to the process. She’s prepared to be eliminated to save her team but she should be thinking about sticking around for herself. What’s behind her lack of commitment, Steve wonders?

Time to poke the hornet’s nest!

Jane wanted to do things in her life and she hasn’t been able to. Her father died and she couldn’t give him a funeral. He didn’t want one but she feels like she needed closure. Yeah, well, too bad. Respect his wishes! One of the last things he asked of you and you’re getting pissy about it, ugh.

Her Dad was 65 and he got cancer. They gave him 6 years but he was dead in 3 weeks. He had a wife and eight kids but he died by himself. She feels like she hasn’t been able to say goodbye to him because they didn’t have a funeral.

Steve tells her she’s got to let it go, move on with her life, etc. She’s surprised how easy Steve is to talk to. Aww!

Meanwhile in Ararat Cam’s arriving home. Surely Michelle won’t surprise the guy with the dodgy ticker?!

Cam goes inside his house where there’s already a camera and his wife is SO SURPRISED HE’S HOME. Snort.

How come he’s home? Bad heart, he’s got some medicine for it and they’ll go from there he tells the kids. His little girl looks a little teary. Awww. Both the boys look happy to have their Dad back. Aww!

Then back to Camp! The contestants wander out and see a fridge sitting on the lawn. It doesn’t look like it’s plugged into anything…

Kerry says it looks like his old beer fridge. Kev knows what’s going on though!

Hayley’s there to introduce them to her favourite gamechanger.

Back home they’d open the fridge and find something to comfort them, but not here. Here it’s all about power. Good or bad, stay safe or jeopardise your position, who knows!

And of course the week’s biggest loser gets to open it. This week it was Kerry so he’ll get to choose whether to open it himself or give the power to someone else.

So Kerry, are you a gambling man? Kerry says he could say he wasn’t but his wife is standing right beside him nodding her head, heh.

But before Kerry opens the fridge there’s something he should know – it’s double the trouble week. There’s two lots of power in the fridge! Time to crack it open and see what’s inside.

The two cards read Immunity and Elimination. Oh dear.

He has to decide who gets Immunity and who goes home. Ouch.

Well, not so much. Immunity for himself. Send Big Kev home. TADA!

But it’s time to make the Immunity choice… and he chooses his wife. Awwwwwwwww!

Toni was kind of hoping he wouldn’t give it to her so she wouldn’t have an excuse not to work hard. She tells us she’d been hoping he’d give it to Katrina (ON THE BLUE TEAM?!) so she’d feel secure. Stupid woman.

Kerry says his first thought is to send Big Kev back home. Haven’t really gotten to know him yet, but he’s not from Ararat. But if he stays he could make a lot of money for Ararat.

Kev tells us he’s pretty sure he’ll get picked because he’s the outsider. Kerry’s other thought is to send Matt home because he’s the strongest on Blue.

Kerry decides not to send Kev home because he only just arrived back and he could earn a lot of money for Ararat. And his workmate Matt is missing his fiance and he’s the biggest threat on Blue so it goes to him. Kerry says sorry, but keep working on the outside.

Oh, don’t worry, he will be. Mish will be kicking his arse as soon as he gets back!

Matt’s pretty sure he can do it on the outside. It was just a matter of getting his head right. The saddest bit is he’ll miss everyone, they’re all his mates now.

I wonder if Hayley knows about Mish’s secret mission?

Lots of hugs and kisses for Matt on his way out. He even gets a kiss from Kerry, ha!

After Matt leaves Hayley announces that double trouble week continues. There’s another immunity to hand out and another elimination before the week is out. Yikes!

But there’s also double the cash for their lost weight. $600 per kilo this week, nice!

Katrina’s telling us they can’t afford to lose another male. Maybe you shouldn’t’ve put one up in the first week then?

After another bloody ad break the blue team files into the gym and they’re all looking pretty glum. Matt’s missing now too and everyone’s feeling it. Shannan says this is his worst day in eight years of The Biggest Loser, it’s the first time he’s had to cancel a training session to put his team back together.

They’re going to sit down for a chat and discuss the stuff holding them back, then let it go and move forward. Shannan says he can yell at them till the cows come home but if they don’t put in everything they’ve got, it won’t take full effect.

Shannon’s been a bit of a closed book, Shannan says. Shannon doesn’t like sharing her struggles, she feels like they’re her own problems. But Shannan says it’s time to put all the cards on the table.

Yes, the Shannan/Shannon thing is getting old.

Two years ago Shannon had cervical cancer like Natalie, but she doesn’t tell anyone. She gave birth to a baby she’d only carried to eighteen and a half weeks, which she says is a week and a half off a stillborn. That’s… not what a stillborn is. But okay.

She bottles all this stuff inside because they’re her problems, not stuff for everyone else to worry about.

Shannon figures all the stuff she’s been through has contributed to her weight gain. She deals with her problems by sitting around and eating. The more she let her problems fester the more she sits around and eats.

Shannan says surviving cancer is a badge of honour, he doesn’t know if he could do that. Of course you could Shannan, so long as it’s detected early and you get treatment it’s quite easy to survive!

Shannan tells her she doesn’t have to deal with it all by herself, she can talk to her and her teammates if she needs to. And if he’s having trouble in his life he’ll come to them for a chat too!

Not everything’s better now, Shannan knows that, but he’s got another trick up his sleeve. Natalie, Shannon and Katrina are pulled out of training. Then he drags Sharon off from the loungeroom too. He needs reinforcements!

Shannan says all the Mums have been struggling while away from their kids. They’re feeling a bit guilty for taking some time out for themselves and they need a little lift.

Shannan turns the TV on in the little loungeroom they’re sitting in… and it’s Lisa on the TV! Talking about missing her kids and Shannan talks about her being the biggest loser two weeks in the house and was the first female Biggest Loser at a finale, which was super impressive at the time and still quite amazing today.

All the Mums are in tears and can see the similarities in their own lives. Sharon tells us she feels guilty for being there and she feels like she’s been a bit of a bad mother.

Shannan leaves them to have a chat for a minute.

Katrina says the other guys are lucky because her boys are older and they don’t need her as much anymore, but Shannon says they still need her. Awww.

Then Shannan comes back in the door… followed by Lisa! She immediately tells them not to cry because then she always cries!

And Lisa looks fantastic! Still has the short hair from whenever we last saw her. Her boobs seem a bit bigger than I recall…

Shannan throws an arm around Lisa and says this is his good mate, one of the most successful transformations in the show’s history, first female to win it, etc. Then he pulls out a picture of what Lisa looked like on day one. I’d forgotten how miserable she looked back then. Never see her without a huge grin now!

Lisa says she was always the happy, bubbly one. But inside she was so sad. She’s been where they all are, thinking they were doing a horrible thing… but they’ll thank them every day, because her kids do. Awww!

Lisa wanted to go home at week two, too. She was crying a lot and angry at herself, worried the kids wouldn’t cope without her. Thought she was being selfish, etc. But this is their chance, grab it. Not going to get another chance. Once they get home they’ve got to go straight back into their regular lives, whatever that may have been.

Shannon says she’d never be able to thank Shannan enough for bringing Lisa to the house today.

At the end Shannan pulls them all in for a big group hug. He loves his Mums!

And we’re back in Ararat with Michelle! She’s reminding us she’s there to help them lose 26,000kg. But today they’re putting their newfound fitness to the test in what Mish is dubbing the haybale slalom. Pushing thirty hay bales, each weighing 500kg, through a tough course. Has some uphill bits and some crossover bits. First team to get to the end wins!

But there’s a catch. Only three hay bales can be on the course at any one time. Whichever team wins sends an advantage back to the house, as happened last time.

Mish is expecting big things today. They’re really getting into the spirit of the competition, she says, so today should be fun!

Blue’s taking an early lead after they start. One girl says they had a plan put in place at the start but they hadn’t realised just how hard it would be to roll the bale along.

Then a guy with glasses that look just like mine says it was hard, had to use many muscles. Who’d’ve guessed, huh?

Blue’s first to get their hay bale to the finish line. Blue get their second bale over the line before Black get their first one across. Then they also get a third one across before Black get their second done.

But they’re all working hard. Black is slowly catching back up in the numbers, then manage to take the lead with their 7th bale.

Oh, it’s 15 hay bales each. Total of 30.

It’s a close race… until one of blue’s hay bales starts to disintegrate. They keep trying to roll it along but it’s shrinking down rapidly. They start picking up the hay that’s been shed to get it out of the way of their last bale, then carrying whatever they can in their arms to the finish line.

Blue gets their last bale across the finish line but nobody’s noticed as Blue is still running back and forth picking up loose hay.

Black pushes their last hay bale across the line and starts cheering and celebrating but Blue’s having none of it.

Afterwards Michelle says she’s consulted with her technical judges and technically Blue team’s 15 bales crossed the line first. Hooray!

Tomorrow night on The Biggest Loser… treadmills set up on the edge of a pool. Keep walking till you can’t walk no more and fall in. Seems a little dangerous dropping exhausted people into a pool…

And Big Kev’s going to be taken away in an ambulance, though it’s not clear why. Hope it’s nothing too serious!
