8×33 – … you what? Seriously? Okay. Wow.
Previously on The Biggest Loser it was time to train the trainers for the contestants after spending the week gallavanting around the land of the hobbits.
Tonight it’s time for payback. The trainers will be taking the contestants out for a late night training session at a quarry with lots of hoses hosing them down as they go. Good fun!
Richard and Amber have immunity at the elimination so the other three teams are fighting amongst themselves. Orange say they’ve still got Blue’s back, but has Blue got their’s? It sounds like Richard may be planning to leave them in the dust, if it comes to that…
But first a shot of the mooooooooooooon. I like the moon. :-)
Tonight’s training will have a lot of mixed emotions, Janet says. It’s the last training session with their trainers. Last Last Chance Training! Last chance to burn calories and lose weight to stay above the yellow line and get themselves into the finale.
And Shannan still can’t sit down, Michelle’s ankle is taped and Steve can’t bend over, Shannan says. So there’s a bit of payback in store.
Lots of running and shuffling around and planking and carrying logs. They’re throwing everything they’ve got at the contestants tonight, Shannan and Steve tell us. Steve says tonight the trainers will try to break them and the contestants have the job of not being broken.
Mish says they’re all very different people now. They were frozen in fear at the thought of exercise at the start and now they’re going to do the hardest training session they’ve ever had to do and they’re all ready for it. No time for complacency, Steve says. And Amber’s got to really put in a lot of effort if light blue want to actually win.
Mish breaks Janet and Kirsten off after a bit of a warmup for some special training. This is after Shannan’s made them run up hill carrying a heavy rope!
Janet and Kirsten are running up and down a gravel hill which is really hard as your feet keep sinking into it, Kirsten says. Mish is thrilled with Kirsten’s effort tonight, everything Mish is asking her to do she just does, unlike back in the day.
Robyn and Katie are working hard, too. Steve’s impressed as well. We get a flashback of Robyn running in the sandpit and wondering if she could keep doing it over and over and over again. Then footage of her working hard in the quarry, and she says she’s actually enjoying it.
Steve says the workout is designed to get everything out of them and it’s time to add another element. Turn on the hoses!
Katie says she learned in the first mud pit training not to complain about the mud because it won’t help, you’ll still have to crawl through it anyway! Katie says that eleven weeks ago she was sitting in her room and starting to resemble the fitball she was using as a desk chair. Ha!
Todd recalls his first training session where he was nearly spewing and his Dad almost blacked out. But now he can go home and look forward to his life. And Shannan can’t break him. Shannan asks Gerald if he’s going to go below the yellow line tomorrow and Gerald says he doesn’t know what the yellow line is!
Shannan says all the contestants gave it their all at training tonight, no complaints. But he’s still hoping it won’t be his green boys going home.
Next day Robyn’s grabbing some SANITARIUM SO GOOD from the fridge. That’s in capitals because it was a VERY BIG ZOOM SHOT.
Orange and light blue are chatting in the kitchen and Robyn says they’ve got light blue’s back (they have immunity!) and they still have their’s, right? Richard doesn’t answer, just says that he reckons they’ll be safe anyway. But if they fall below the line, will they be safe, Katie presses. Richard is non-committal. And afterwards says to Amber that that was a bit awkward! Richard tells us that they didn’t know each other a couple of months ago and so he owes nobody anything. Whichever of green or orange is under the line will be going home.
Weigh in time! Richard and Amber have immunity, Hayley reminds us all. Three teams will be fighting to not be the two teams below the yellow line.
Last time to weigh in inside Camp Biggest Loser, guys!
Richard and Amber are first to weigh in, of course, since they have immunity.
Richard: 102kg 2.5kg Amber: 89.2kg 1.6kg Total: 4.1kg 2.1%
Immunity confirmed, they’re through to the finale. Richard always thought they’d make it to the finale and he’s pleased they’ve managed to get there. Been a lot of hard work, hasn’t just fallen into their lap, but they’re there. Then Amber tells us it’s The Biggest Loser, not The Biggest Friendship, so the next step is to win. Can’t imagine why nobody likes you guys!
Janet and Kirsten have a 1kg penalty going into the weigh in thanks to coming last at the New Zealand race.
Janet: 74.5kg 2.3kg Kirsten: 74.7kg 2.5kg Total: 4.8kg, 3.8kg after penalty, 2.47%
First place! Great result for the girls. As Mish says, even with the penalty they’ve got a great result for themselves. Kirsten feels great, she says. She hasn’t felt this good about herself in ages. And she feels confident in everything she’s doing, now.
Been some ups and downs, Hayley says. It’s been volatile, but Janet feels so much closer to her little girl now. And Kirsten feels like there’s a lot she can learn from Janet!
Green team need at least 4.9kg, which should be doable for the lads but they’re nervous nonetheless. Gerald’s not been able to workout much since getting back due to his back injury.
Gerald: 109.3kg 3.2kg Todd: 78.7kg 3.1kg Total: 6.3kg 3.24%
First place, once again! They’re both stoked at their loss. Robyn and Katie look stunned. Janet and Kirsten aren’t surprised but aren’t too worried since one of the top two teams will be below the line with them.
Todd’s chuffed to be in the 70s. And his goal weight for finale was 76kg so he’s pretty much there. Shannan reckons it’s time to set a new goal because he’ll be so much fitter come finale. Hopefully he aims to get fitter and not scarily gaunt like Chris… Gerald says he’s broken the generational obesity problem in his family. He says parents need to realise they can’t get their kids to change if they’re not willing to change themselves.
Robyn and Katie will need at least 5.9kg to beat the green team. That’s doable but very tough, Robyn’s running out of weight to lose so it’ll need to be a good effort from Katie.
Robyn: 77.4kg 4kg Katie: 95.5kg 3.5kg Total: 7.5kg 4.16%
So they’re into first place and into the finale. Pushing the green boys below the line and no doubt out of the competition since orange and blue won’t send pink home.
Todd’s not upset, he says, because they managed to stay above the yellow line every other week and it was a great result from Robyn and Katie.
Robyn says it feels good to be in the final three but she feels they earned it. If they’d gone home eliminated that would have been okay because they’ve turned their lives around. Katie says it’s hard to see the differences week to week but seeing the audition tape to the big picture on the AMP building really highlighted how far she’d come. And Katie says she’s never going back! Then Commando Steve wanders over and gives them a big hug. Awww. Tells them not to give up now, they’ve got to keep going.
Gerald and Todd, Janet and Kirsten facing elimination. Not even a close call, this one. Green will be going home, they’d be mad not to send them packing.
And after the ad break they’re all straight into the elimination room, no messing around with chatting tonight.
Final elimination, dun dun dunnnnn!
Gerald and Todd have never fallen below the yellow line, do they feel in danger? Well of course! Gerald says that if he doesn’t get eliminated he poses a risk to them winning the $200,000 because he’s not going home to give up. He’s going home to work out hard. Todd’s very nervous because he’s not sure what might happen, but either way he’s going home with a smile on his face. As he should, he’s done very well for himself. They’ve done their best and changed their lives.
Richard says his decision is based on the best interests of himself and Amber because it’s a lot of money. Robyn says it’s got to cross your mind, would be a great setup for Katie and would take the pressure off their life at home.
Kirsten says they should be the team to be saved because Gerald is going to kill it on the outside. Gerald’s a machine and he’ll probably sleep in the gym. She’s just saying she doesn’t have that determination!
Gerald says he’s hoping that it might come back to those times when Gerald and Todd kept blue and orange in the game by not voting for them at elimination. Richard says it’s $200,000, got to be thinking about that. Gerald asks if that’s how much his word is worth, then? Richard says his integrity is intact, he’s kept his word the whole game. Um, no you haven’t. Liar.
Richard’s suggesting orange would be taking a big gamble to keep green in the game. Todd suggests to Gerald to just leave it at that. Certainly doesn’t sound like there’s a lot of love lost there!
But Janet loves Gerald, she admires the green team so much. They’re so strong. Both teams want to be there and they’re all close to each other, so it’s a tough thing to ask them to do.
Todd says that if the other teams want a challenge when they go home for finale they should keep green in because they’re the push they need. But either way green or pink will go home with a smile on their face because look at how much they’ve done. Kirsten giggles and says he’s far too cute. N’aww! Todd thinks they deserve to be there because they’ve been above the yellow line every week. But you never know what will happen.
Time to vote!
Come on, enough with this charade, we know how the votes will play out already. Right?
Richard’s first to vote and he’s going strategic. For him and Amber to win they’ve got to go against pink, not green. So he’s voted out Gerald and Todd.
Amber’s always had a vision of her and Kirsten at the finale together, but Todd is literally (yes, annoying) but the most beautiful fifteen year old she’s ever met. But she has to think of her best chance at winning so as much as it breaks her heart she’s had to vote for green. And she has genuine tears in her eyes as she does it. Awww.
Katie’s got to think of her best interests, too. But her decision has come down to something that happened a long time ago and if it wasn’t for the green boys saving her when she was up the wrong end she wouldn’t be there to make this decision. Oh my god, might Katie break ranks?!
She’s actually voted for Kirsten and Janet! Very surprising. Richard’s shaking his head. Kirsten looks a little upset and Hayley sounds a little teary as she announces the standing.
Robyn says it’s a tough choice, there’s $200,000 at stake and money changes everything.
But she needs to be able to sleep at night… and so she’s voted to send Janet and Kirsten home!
WOW. Did NOT see that coming. Absolutely amazed.
Janet hugs Gerald and says they’ve just handed them $200,000 and Gerald says no, they’ve still got to do the work.
Janet and Kirsten have been eliminated, again. And Gerald and Todd are part of the final three. Much to Richard’s disgust.
Richard says he feels like Robyn and Katie have lied to them. Robyn says those boys saved her girl’s life. Richard says Robyn’s struggled her whole life, live in a tiny house and so on and she’s just given it away. Robyn says if she has to give it away she’s happy to do it for that boy and that man. But green deserve to be there. Robyn says once upon a time she would have taken the easy route but now she wants to win the money fair and square. They’ve got just as much chance of winning as green. They’ll be going hard at home with the support of their family and if they win, great. If not they’ve had a hell of a ride and can still sleep at night.
Amber says the light blue team will be going hard at home, too!
Kirsten says they’ve learned a lot about each other, Janet says respect, and they’ve learned they’ve each got their own strengths. Janet says they might be going home but they’ve not been defeated. Time to say your goodbyes and we’ll see you at finale… very soon!
Janet says they’re going to be an active, happy, healthy family because that’s what she is, now. Kirsten says her whole outlook on life has changed now, she wants to exercise and be healthy, she feels good about it all, something she never thought she’d say of herself.
TOMORROW NIGHT! Biggest Loser Finale. 90 minute episode. Or 90 and a bit, probably. It’ll run over time.
So, who will win? Gerald and Todd? Richard and Amber? Robyn and Katie?
And if you can’t pick who you think will win, who do you WANT to win? Answers on the back of an envelope…
