8×20 – The Eliminees Strike Back

Previously on The Biggest Loser Anita and Cher were sent home after losing the least weight AGAIN. The official Facebook page says it was the most emotional yet but I would have thought that’s still in Kevin and Rosemary’s hands?

Tonight it’s challenge night… But not! It’s all an elaborate ruse to disguise the returning contestants getting their chance to come back into the game at last!

Richard’s leading the celebrations for everyone in the kitchen. Final four, wooo! Gerald then brings up if the blues and greys have an alliance. He tells us they’re all calling him the King now and he hates it.

Richard asks if Gerald wants to have the conversation now or off camera and Gerald says no, now. Richard denies the alliance… then says that they have relationships in the house and if they stabbed him in the back he’d be disappointed. Soooo it’s an alliance. They just don’t want to call it that because OOOH REALITY TV ALLIANCES BAD EVIL. Etc.

Anyway, it’s off to Sydney Olympic Park for the weekly challenge. The trainers are crossing off the colours as the contestants walk up to them. No yellow. One chance too many, Shannan suggests.

Mandy says it felt horrible to be under the line and they were just hoping for a chance. Shannan asks them all if the pleas from Anita and Cher had changed from previous pleas, were they swayed at all? Richard says nope and Shannan confirms they weren’t convinced either when they saw the yellow team’s arguments before.

“Now that’s a big mac,” says Amber. Richard says it’s not the kind they’re used to. Seventeen ton each. Two trucks. They just turned up for the contestants to pull 350metres down the road.

Blue and Green will pull one and Orange and Grey will pull the other. They’re all getting harnessed in like a horse team so Brett won’t have so much trouble this time.

They’ve got a race on their hands, Mish says. But what’s the prize? No word. Pull!

A life first for Mandy, pulling a truck? Yup, who’d’ve thought it, Mandy says to Shannan. Steve tells them to stop talking to each other and pull the truck. Bossy britches!

Michelle thinks back to when they pulled the skip across the field and the comparison is chalk and cheese. Very different attitudes to the whole thing.

Orange and Grey are in the lead and Katie says they’re pulling a truck, woooo!

Mish says it’s up to Amber, show her the change she’s promised Mish she’s made. They’re about halfway down the track and Green and Blue finally get up a bit of pace and start moving ahead by a good 5 metres or so. The finish line is a bit closer than that so the Orange and Grey team pull in mere seconds behind.

Finished then? Not hardly! Get your harnesses off, get up and unload the trucks! Mandy’s busy puking her guts up but Steve gets her moving to the back of the truck.

Commando Steve says if they thought pulling the trucks was a big surprise, wait until they open the back of the trucks.

It’s the past contestants, of course!

Lots of tough talk from the King at that. They’re the top four, they’re the ones with the tough job.

Shannan says to the top four that they’ve effectively dragged the eliminated contestants back into the competition. Thank god they lost some weight, says Michelle.

Eliminated contestants, well done. Head back to the house where Hayley waits for them, Shannan says. Amber wants to stick a return to sender sign on the trucks and drag them back down the road!

Time for the returnees to weigh in, it seems. They’re back, but not for good. For a shot at getting back in their team will have to win a weigh in pass. Only three of them are up for grabs. Over the next week they’ll be competing to win one of the passes. Only a pass gets you an actual chance at getting back into the game.

Brett says they have some temporary contestants to play with. Brett tells us he’s a little evil!

The previous top four all get immunity for this week. The eliminated contestants say it’s good because they’ll need it!

And Hayley’s going to give away a pass right now. Whichever team has lost the most weight since day one, by percentage, gets a pass right off the bat. So that’s going to rule out yellow and blue…

Anita: 99.8kg 17.8kg Cher: 152kg 20.2kg Total: 38kg 13.11%

Weak. Not surprising, of course. Amber would like to see them come back because they wouldn’t be a threat.

Rosemary and Kevin were eliminated in a “bombshell” elimination where the trainers were meant to vote, but wouldn’t. They’re next to weigh in and Mandy’s thinking Kevin couldn’t do it in the house so he’ll come back at the same weight he went out!

Rosemary: 89.9kg 10.2kg Kevin: 230.4kg 24.3kg Total: 34.5kg 9.72%

Well, even yellow beat them. That is appalling. APPALLING.

Kevin says life on the outside has been very different. It’s only 24kg out of the many more he has to lose but he’s imagining life will be so much better once he gets under 200kg. Kevin says the red team will be their biggest threat because Sam’s so thin now!

Sam and Jess were the first team eliminated so most of their weightloss has been outside the house. They’ll need at least 34.6kg to beat yellow. Could be doable for them!

Sam: 108.7kg 20.7kg Jess: 117.8kg 16.3kg Total: 37kg 14.04%

Not bad, especially for a set of first eliminated people. Sam’s been working eleven hour days alongside his training on the outside. You really can do it on the outside, he’s discovered. And he’d like to thank Robyn for being the deciding vote to send them home. Robyn tells us there’s been talk of revenge. Sam up on the scales says the top four should enjoy the time they’ve got left in the house because they’re back now!

Chris and Mark will need at least 44.3kg. Could be a hard ask but not impossible since there’s two dudes. Katie says the only ones they’re irritated to see is the black team. Mandy says the vibe in the house has improved immensely since they left so they don’t want to go back to that.

Chris: 125.6kg 26.7kg Mark: 130.5kg 32.4kg Total: 59.1kg 18.75%

Wow, smashed it. The eliminated contestants applaud. Amber was applauding for a second and then mumbles, why is she clapping?

BECAUSE IT’S GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP YOU DOLT.

Anyway, Mark says they’re much more motivated since being sent home. Mark says he has no score to settle and tells us he didn’t come on the show to make friends, he has plenty of friends on the outside. Mark says he had time to go home and see his family and relax so thanks for sending him home! Amber says it’s okay, they’ll send them right back again.

38.4kg for the pink ladies. That’s a tough ask. Neither girl was that big to begin with.

Janet: 86.6kg 20kg Kirsten: 83.4kg 14.7kg Total: 34.7kg 16.95%

Not quite enough to win, second place. Still a great effort from those two.

So Chris and Mark win the very first weigh in pass! Nice job, lads.

Just four teams left vying for the last two weigh in passes. The next task isn’t for the faint hearted, Hayley says. She’ll see them soon.

The eliminated and remaining contestants split off after the weigh in for separate chats. The eliminated ones can feel the change in the air. Yellow fills them in on what’s been happening. Yellow says the other teams have been scared of the contestants returning. Mark asks if Richard’s still trotting around like the king and Anita says yep, even more so in fact. And the queen, which is Robyn, Anita tells Jess.

Remaining contestants are chatting, thinking they’re all chummy on the eliminated side for now but it won’t last. They’ve got to battle each other, not the remaining contestants this week.

The king and queen are no more, Sam says. Cut the head off the snake and the body’s not dangerous anymore. It’s still got a big body but it’s not dangerous anymore.

BECAUSE IT’S DEAD. THAT’S WHY THE SAYING EXISTS. Oh my god does he really think only the head of the snake is dangerous?

Time for the next competition. Three knock out rounds testing strength, speed and endurance. Last team standing wins a weigh in pass. Only one person from each team can compete in each round. Since Chris and Mark already have a pass they won’t need to compete.

The first round involves holding a 1.25kg weight in front of them, over a piece of tape. The first person to break the tape will be out of the running for the pass today.

Competing in the first event will be Cher, Sam, Janet and Kevin. Kevin’s a big surprise. He flaked out of the second contest they were in after just fifteen seconds.

Sam says the other contestants may as well not pick up the weights. Janet says bring it! Yellow shirt’s going to break yellow tape, Kevin reckons.

Everyone’s standing strong to begin with. Sam’s sure he’ll get a pass, just doesn’t have it yet.

A minute down and Kevin’s pleased to have lasted that long. But he realises he has to outlast at least one of them. So he’s staring like a fucking lunatic at Cher. Says it’s his evil face. Cher just thinks it’s funny, didn’t put her off at all.

Janet’s struggling. Sam’s just staring straight ahead for the most part. Four and a half minute mark goes past. Kevin’s wobbling. Janet’s struggling.

Kevin’s arms are resting on the tape. Cher’s are brushing them. At the six minute mark even Sam is feeling the burn. Steve and Mish tell them they all chose to be the one to represent their team, now they’ve got to show they can do it. They can do it, prove it, etc.

Seven minutes! Cher can see Kevin struggling but she’s feeling much the same, hoping someone will be first to drop their arms.

Eight minutes! Cher’s resting on the tape, again. Over and over. Kevin’s leaning back trying to counterbalance and relieve the stress. It doesn’t seem to be working very well for him.

After another ad break they’re still holding up their weights. Come on, nine minutes and they’re still going?

And finally Cher’s the won to break the tape. Kevin’s VERY EXCITED and cheers loudly and tosses the weight on the ground. Cher’s in tears because she let her Mum down. But Steve is over having a word in her ear, along with Michelle. They’re pointing out that that’s the sort of commitment they’ve been looking for from her. She broke the tape first but that’s okay, she showed guts! Actions speak louder than words, Steve says. There’s a victory in there.

Steve says this while we get a nice close up of his bicep with a smoking hot, scantily clad, gun toting lady tattoo. Hah! I remember when they had to keep covering up Ajay’s shoulder tattoo.

Next round is the old favourite, stacks on! Each gets an olympic barbell over their shoulders. It weights 20kg all by itself. As each minute passes they get another 5kg added to the bar. Janet can’t even hold up a 20kg bar, she says, so pink is thinking they’re screwed.

Kevin suggests Rosemary’s going to compete in this one but he’s kidding, Kevin’s doing it of course. Jess and Kirsten are doing it for the other two teams, oddly.

Mish tells Jess to pull her abs in when trying to get through it.

This time it seems they’re not securing the weights on the bar like they usually do, just sliding the weight on either end.

Kevin says the old Kev would have given up already but the new one is determined to outlast the red and pink teams. It’s already hurting but he’s telling himself he can do it.

Kirsten’s struggling from early, especially with everyone looking at her and judging and so on.

Kirsten’s hurting a lot as they swap the 5kg weights for a big 10kg one. But she’s hanging in there as there’s another bloody ad break!

They’re up to 40kg now and… Kirsten’s out! She has a cry but Janet gives her a big hug. Awww!

Kevin’s stoked to make it to the final round. Whoever wins this round gets the next weigh in pass.

Round three is a Biggest Loser favourite, Hayley says. First to 5km on the spinbike wins! Rosemary’s looking confident, thinks she has a chance. Sam’s going to rep for red.

Shannan says these contests can’t be taken for granted. Last year we saw competition favourite Luke get trumped by Michelle in the same kind of race. Michelle was phenomenal in that challenge, can Rosemary put in that kind of performance though?

Well, she’s starting off strong. Rosemary’s knees have bad arthritis, Shannan says the spinbike’s a great exercise for her because there’s no impact.

They’re both pedalling hard but… we won’t find out who wins until tomorrow night. Bugger!

Tomorrow night the final weigh in pass is up for grabs in a cross country obstacle course.

And pink team are back to bickering once more with Kirsten thinking about going straight back home regardless. Massive facepalms ahead!
