8×14 – Sweet, delicious Temptation
Previously on The Biggest Loser Janet and Kirsten were sent home at Elimination. Apparently they were popular?
Tonight, Temptation is back! Will any of the new crop be stupid enough to fall for it or have they all learned their lesson from previous seasons?
But first, everyone’s sad about Janet and Kirsten going home but also happy that Robyn and Katie are still there. Happysads all round! Amber says she’s sad that Janet and Kirsten were sent home but she’s sure they can do it on the outside.
Katie still looks upset and says she was on the verge of a panic attack the whole time. Oh balls, you were not.
Richard says he thinks Kirsten’s stronger mentally than what Katie is (nice!) and so they decided she’d be okay on the outside.
Kirsten said to tell Amber she loves her. Robyn says it was hard because you’re happy to stay but also sad because the others were leaving. Time to crack on and have a productive week.
Next day they’re out on the fancy lawn out the front of the house for an announcement from Hayley. She says they’ve competed team against team so far, but it’s time to mix things up. Time to split the house into two groups – parents and kids! Parents will train and compete together in challenges, so will the kids.
Mish is tipping the parents to win, they’ve been kicking butt. But hopefully the kids will step it up.
They’ve now got shirts on that have “Kids Rule” on the back of the kids ones, not sure about the parent ones.
And what better way to kick off the week, Shannan says, than a session with an Olympic medal winning mother and daughter team. 2012 Silver medallist canoe girl, Jessica Fox. And her Bronze medal winning mum, Miriam.
Amber’s very inspired by Jessica since she’s only 18. The first picture they have of Jessica after that makes her look really cross eyed. Well picked, guys! The next is the great shot of her with her medal that was gracing all the papers the next morning.
Jessica says it was very exciting winning the medal and she uses it as motivation to push for the gold next time.
Miriam says it’s a whole lifestyle, being the coach and the Mum. They have to eat all the good food for both reasons anyway, got to fuel the body to train the body!
Training with the kids first. Cher’s crutches are still nowhere to be seen and she’s actually doing leg work tonight. I was going to suggest she ate them but maybe she just stopped being a sook!
The extra kick up the pants has spurred the kids on today. Steve’s also planning on pushing Todd hard since Gerald’s not there in his corner, time to see if Todd can stand on his own two feet. After pounding out a run on the treadmill, Jessica says he looks like he’s got more in him. Steve asks him what he’s got in him for the next one and Todd says he’ll go at 17km/h next and Shannan’s very impressed at him getting it done in only the fourth week.
I think Jessica’s a little taken with young Todd! She’s looking at him with that sort of smile on her face. Hmm!
Steve asks him what’s changed now and Todd says he’s telling himself he can do it now instead of telling himself he can’t.
Mish has Miriam and the other parents out on the lawn. Mish says that as a world champion she knows how to set her own goals and reach them, but also as Jessica’s mother and coach she knows how to set rules and guidelines for the kids, too.
Miriam says that from an early age, no meant no for her kids. So if she knew something wasn’t appropriate for her kids, she’d say no. She’s the adult, she’s the role model. The penny’s dropped for some of the parents, Mish says.
Oh, the parents have Parents Rock on their shirts. I see.
Anyway, Mish has them all write a word that means something important to them on the driveway in chalk. Richard’s written Respect. He wants respect for and from Amber and for his house. Mish says it’s a big turn around from the guy who came into the house with his best friend. Richard knows they were heading down the wrong path, so he’d go away from home more and more because it was too hard to deal with.
Next up is Mandy who has said lead by example. Anita’s is trust. Robyn’s is learn to listen and respect each other. Because she’d realised they’d fallen back into old habits of nagging and it’s time for Katie to learn to do things herself.
Katie’s looking to prove she can do this on her own. She’s on the rowing machine and the sweat is pouring off her and into her eyes but she keeps going and supposedly manages to beat Todd. I think that’s more because Todd’s watching her row and not putting all his effort into it…
Katie says it was tough almost going home and Shannan tells her this week is about setting a challenge for herself. Jessica says she’s her only competitor, just like in Jessica’s support. She’s against other competitors but going down the rapids it’s just against her own time, nothing else. Katie reckons it was fun training with her though!
And now it’s time for another product placement segment! How are the ladyparents feeling? Shattered. Mish says that’s good, she feels that way after some sessions too. It’s important to look after themselves, stretching, good sleep and a healthy, nutritious diet. Of course you can also back that up with a “good quality” night multivitamin.
Yes, okay Michelle. I hope Nature’s Way is paying a lot for these bits!
Gerald and Todd have the power of The Fridge again. Or so they think. Hayley says they would normally have the power, but since it’s Parents versus Kids this week she thinks it’s her turn to pick who gets to open it.
Hayley decides the kids do, indeed, rule and thus they should get to open the fridge. Amber, would you like to? SURE!
Amber opens the fridge and inside is a sign that just says, “TEMPTATION IS BACK”
Quite a few people seem excited but Katie’s pissed. She tells us she sees it as cheating. What the fuck? You’re weird, lady.
Amber walks back off the podium and LEAVES THE FRIDGE DOOR OPEN. Come on, it might be a prop but you close the fucking door! Brat.
Anyway. Temptation will give one family Immunity. It’s the only guaranteed way to get through to the next week.
Mark’s thinking about it, on the basis of needing to be in it to win it. He thinks him and his Dad have a big target on their backs. You know how you make that irrelevant? WORK OUT AND FOLLOW THE DIET.
Katie says to the other kids that you don’t come to Camp and do the exact opposite of the entire purpose of being there. Todd agrees, saying that if you don’t take Temptation it’s good practice for the outside world. You’ve learned not to take takeaway!
Mark’s arguing in favour of it, saying you get an extra week and some other team has to go home instead. Katie just says if she goes home because someone else stuffed their face she won’t be a happy chappy! Yeah, well, tough! Lose the weight!
Amber says anyone who takes Temptation and gets Immunity from it, they’ll be getting her vote. Katie and Todd agree. Whether they could convince their parents of that idea, who knows!
“Hi everyone,” says Hayley. Nobody answers. RUDE!
They’re going to be faced with all their favourite foods in Temptation. It’s all the things that lead to them becoming overweight in the first place, but now it might be what keeps them safe.
In the front of the house are two temptation rooms. One for parents, one for kids. The kids one is like a birthday party from their childhood. Complete with popcorn and a fairy floss machine. Nom! Cher also loves fairy floss!
The parents have lots of very indulgent foods including a chocolate fountain. Also delicious!
Each contestant will have 5 minutes in their respective room, all by themselves. So nobody will know who’s taking part.
Katie calls out to her Mum that that’s no excuse.
Richard’s hankering for a steak with seafood. Weird. Robyn will be tempted most by a slice of toast with vegemite on it. But that’s healthy for you? Do it!
Amber’s worried Richard will take part because he has no self control.
As they’re playing for their original teams it will be the sum of the parent and child’s intake that decides the winner.
Richard and Amber are up first. Amber’s trying hard to resist but there’s so many of her favourite foods in there. She eventually finds the chocolate malt balls for a mere 13 calories and thinks it could very well be enough to win. She’s weighing up the pros and cons, lots and lots of cons and only one pro – Immunity.
Amber was the one who said they’d vote out anyone who took part in Temptation and now she’s succumbed. And is wondering if one will be enough.
Lots of delicious food in the adult room too. And Richard’s found the chocolate malt balls for 13 calories as well. He’s very tempted, has picked it up, but we don’t see if he eats it.
Katie’s in the room next. She’s feeling sick looking at all the food. Not sure why, looks delicious! She says she’s not desperate enough to do it for immunity. She’s still thinking of it as cheating, saying it’s the highest dishonour to cheat your way through the competition. Katie says they bring the contestants into the house to teach them all these valuable lessons and then throw it all out the window and keep whoever stuffs the most calories into them.
Robyn’s in the adult room at the same time, of course. She’s not sure where to look, she hasn’t seen most of the food in ages. She finds some wedges with sweet chili sauce for 677 calories and says it’s no wonder she’s on The Biggest Loser.
Katie’s still ranting and raving to herself in the kid’s room. She tells us she’s not only terrified she might go below the line but that it might be because someone else has immunity and that Temptation is on the outside is no excuse. Just lose enough weight! Then it doesn’t matter! She’s outside the room afterwards bitching and moaning to someone off-camera. Producer maybe? Saying she might get pushed below the Yellow Line because someone else stuffed their throat. Come on Katie, you knew they did this when you signed on.
Anita and Cher up next. Surely Cher won’t be able to resist.
Anita’s most tempted by the cheeses, she says. Including a huge chunk of camembert on one single cracker. 96 calories! Crazy. She realises she won’t be having so much cheese in the outside world. But then she sees the chocolate fountain and is even more tempted! But she knows she’d be a bad role model for Cher if she takes part in Temptation.
Cher’s in the kid’s room and wandering around the table. She says it’s really hard to see all that tempting food and say no. Before coming on the show she was eating those foods regularly. She didn’t even know what calories were, then.
Damn, they’ve got some nice slices of pizza there. We don’t see Cher eat anything either!
Mandy says the first thing she sees is a delicious looking pavlova, which she’d been thinking about that morning. But it’s 790 calories per slice! She says that sort of thing used to really tempt her. She never used to think about calories, just taste. She’d see something and think it looked good, so she’d have it. But Brett and her have said they’d do the show on their own merits, so she’s hoping he hasn’t taken part either.
Brett says it’s a blast from the past for him, so many foods he used to eat. He sees a plate of 901 calories worth of nachos and says he’d normally have a plate three times the size of that!
Gerald walks into his Temptation and immediately says, “Blow me!” I’ll pass, thanks though. Pies are Gerald’s weakness and he mimes putting sauce on one a couple of times, takes a good sniff of it.
Todd says his weakness is all the takeaway stuff. He misses dimsims, spring rolls and fried foods. Then he looks at the little lollies and starts to think they might be his ticket to Immunity. Him and his Dad have been the biggest losers for three weeks and it will be hard to keep that sort of loss up.
Chris and Mark’s turn. Chris is wowed by all the great food. He picks up the wedges and has a good sniff of them. He’s not sure if he’ll survive it. But the thought has crossed his mind that he might only have to eat a few calories to get Immunity, so he looks at the chocolate malt ball too. There’s other lollies that aren’t much more calories that would be more likely to get you there. But it’s extra time on the treadmill, Chris knows. So can he do that extra time?
Mark’s tempted by lots of foods. He knows everyone thinks he’ll be taking part and he knows that with Immunity he’s safe. 100 or 200 calories and it’d seal the deal, he thinks.
FAIRYBREAD! There’s slices of fairybread. My day is made!
But it’s finally over. Hayley says they offer Temptation to show them what life is like when they’re back in the outside world. Facing it shows them how far they’ve come. Hopefully!
Hayley says they all resisted Temptation at first, but then it got the best of some of them. Two teams took part, in fact. Just two? Wow.
Katie’s filthy. Katie needs to get over herself.
Hayley then reveals it was the kids who ate. So all the parents are now staring hard at the group of kids.
One kid ate a chocolate malt ball. And one strawberry and cream lolly for a total of 33 calories. And that was… Todd! Everyone’s quite surprised. Katie looks quite disgusted.
The other kid ate… not one, not two, not three but four chocolate malt balls, totalling 52 calories. And that was… AMBER!
Hah! Everyone was thinking it would be Mark because he couldn’t stop grinning. But nope, Amber. Everyone’s shocked. Amber’s still grinning and Richard’s a bit annoyed.
Katie looks like she’s going to CRY.
Amber says it was solely to get them Immunity because they were at the bottom of the list last time. It’s a game. Richard says it is a game, but that’s not the way to play. Mark’s laughing and says who’s sorry now! Katie swears at Amber and says she trusted her, thought Amber was better than that.
Katie says she made friends with people and trusted them and then they do this? If you’re not angry after that then you’re insane. Why didn’t they send her home again? Gawd.
Anyway, tomorrow night! You take Temptation, you pay for it! Mish takes it out of Todd and Amber’s hides in training. Also, boat race! Rowing, parents versus kids, in the ocean. Fun times!
