8×13 – Where did Cher’s crutches go?
Previously on The Biggest Loser Gerald and Todd earned a midweek weigh in via The Fridge… but Todd had put on weight!
Tonight it’s Last Chance Training, a weigh in and an elimination. And they’re saying one of our favourite teams will be going home. So Anita and Cher or Chris and Mark. Unless they’re actually telling the truth and it’s Gerald and Todd!
Michelle’s got a bunch of her people in an indoor gym. She’s challenging them to get as many kilometres in two minutes as they can on the treadmills, spinbikes and cross trainers.
Brett and Mandy have a half kilo disadvantage thanks to coming second last in the Spartan race. Mish says that could make or break them so she’s making sure they’re putting in maximum effort.
She wants them thinking about if they can go a little faster, a little harder. Kirsten’s finding running on the treadmill hard but she nudges the speed up a bit anyway, much to Mish’s satisfaction. Mish says she’s turned a corner since not being able to do the abseil during the week.
Cue flashback to Kirsten sobbing and wailing again. Mish says she knew Kirsten would have gone home regretting the decision not to do it and Kirsten said it made something click in her head. She can’t live in the past she’s got to move forward.
Kirsten says she’s put in five times more effort than any previous week so she’s looking forward to the weigh in.
Anita and Cher have had a rough week, first skipping out on the abseil and then Cher hurt herself right at the start of the Spartan race.
Shannan didn’t think anything had really happened but she’s hobbling around on crutches to come to training. So they’re sitting down for a chat first.
Shannan reminds them they only lost half a kilo last weigh in and then they piked out of the abseiling and then at the Spartan race they didn’t get the job done either.
Shannan tells us the quitting behaviour has to stop here.
Shannan’s going to get Anita to step up for a special task. Anita’s got to run 5.5km in 45 minutes. And the letters from home they missed out on at the abseiling challenge will be their reward if she can manage it.
Shannan says it might be just what they need right now but he’s not just going to give them away!
But at the start of the session Cher’s doing her upper body exercise in a decidedly half arsed way. Shannan asks her what’ll happen if she survives another week and Cher says she needs to be more headstrong and more desperate to lose the weight.
We still haven’t heard if Cher actually hurt herself!
Responsibility is on Anita’s shoulders again. Right after the Spartan race the day before. She says she’s hurting a bit in her legs and she’s got some gnarly bruises on her upper arms. Shannan’s very impressed!
Anita’s desperate to be there and desperate for Cher to be there but Anita can’t do it for her.
Cher’s got sweat running into her eyes but she’s trying to prove her head’s in the game now. And Shannan’s finally seeing some fight in her!
Shannan just hopes she can do this for an entire week, then she’ll be unstoppable.
Time’s running out on Anita so Shannan’s bumped the speed up to 8km/h and Anita’s clearly struggling but she keeps powering through despite the tightness around her chest and the bright red face she’s got going on.
Anita’s letter is from her boyfriend. Who writes in text speak. When handwriting. Ugh.
Cher’s is from her boyfriend too. He misses her. And he can’t spell. Come on dude, future has two u’s. Life has an e. Geez, man.
Anyway, he’s talking about them being together as long as they’re breathing, love forever, he wants little Cher’s and little Luke’s running around. And Shannan says that unless she gets her weight under control that won’t happen.
So Yellow Team needs to be above the Yellow Line!
Kirsten’s super excited for weigh in. Todd’s nervous though. As he should be after gaining .7kg at the midweek weigh in!
Gerald and Todd won at the obstacle course and have a 1kg weight advantage. Anita and Cher, Mandy and Brett have a half kilo penalty.
Hayley talks to Gerald and Todd first. Todd’s not sure if they’ve turned around their midweek results. Gerald tells us if Todd hasn’t lost weight this week they won’t have lost enough, advantage or not!
Gerald: 126.9kg 3.9kg
Todd: 93.2kg 1.8kg
Total: 5.7kg, 6.7kg after advantage. 2.97%
First place, obviously! Todd’s happy with his result, though he’d hoped for more. Gerald says Todd’s spent a lot more time on the bike and he’s done great on the food. Steve says that’s because Gerald’s setting a good example for him, now.
Next up, Janet and Kirsten. Kirsten’s still excited!
Janet: 90.6kg 2.3kg
Kirsten: 86kg 1.2kg
Total: 3.5kg 1.94%
Second place. Kirsten’s visibly upset but Mish says she’s done a good job. Kirsten’s disappointed because she got a better result last week when she did less work. Michelle says it’s not a computer game where you plug in numbers and out pops the answer, it’s a human body!
I’m a little confused by what computer games Michelle has been playing.
Anyway, Mish says Kirsten has worked out so hard in the gym in the past week and she’s got a lot of respect for her.
And Janet’s very proud of her efforts, too.
As they’re walking off the scales Janet tries to take Kirsten’s hand but Kirsten shakes her off. So much love in that family!
Richard and Amber next!
Richard: 119kg 2.5kg
Amber: 99.5kg 2.1kg
Total: 4.6kg 2.06%
Amber’s so happy to be under 100kg and Mish is so happy for her she trots out of the group stands and gives her a big hug. As she trots back Richard says he got under 120kg and holds his arm out but Mish keeps trotting away laughing. Ha!
Richard and Amber are in second spot and so Gerald and Todd are safe!
Chris: 129.3kg 2.9kg
Mark: 134.7kg 4kg
Total: 6.9kg 2.55%
Second place and safe!
Mandy and Brett next. Brett’s wrist is still heavily bandaged and they’ve a half kilo disadvantage thanks to the Spartan race loss.
Mandy: 94.5kg 2.5kg
Brett: 155.1kg 4.9kg
Total: 7.4kg, 6.9kg after penalty. 2.68%, second place! Forever second placing!
Janet and Kirsten are worried now as they’re very close to going under the Yellow Line already.
Anita and Cher are up next. They also have a half kilo penalty. They need at least 5.2kg to beat Janet and Kirsten. Cher should be able to do that by herself.
Buuuut she probably won’t!
Anita: 102.7kg 3.4kg
Cher: 157.8kg 2.7kg
Total: 6.1kg, 5.6kg after penalty. 2.1%
Fourth place. Janet and Kirsten are now definitely below the Yellow Line. But will they be joined by Richard and Amber or Robyn and Katie?
Kirsten says she’s devastated because she’s not ready to go home, even though she misses everyone at home. She’s not sure how she’ll handle the temptation if she has to go home.
Kirsten says to Anita and Cher that she doesn’t want to take anything away from them, they’ve done really well since last week, she’s just upset because she did so much work and it hasn’t paid off.
Robyn and Katie will need 4.5kg. Should be doable for the two of them. Robyn’s not sure, though she knows both her and Katie have worked hard.
Robyn: 94.1kg 1.5kg
Katie: 115.4kg 2.3kg
Total: 3.8kg 1.78%
They’ll now face elimination alongside Janet and Kirsten. Surely Robyn and Katie won’t be going home?
Everyone’s shocked, there was talk of them maybe being the biggest losers this week. Not to be!
Katie’s trying not to cry. She knows her number is good it’s just that she’s below the Line. If she has to go home she has to go back to her normal job and deal with the temptations outside the house. Including some very familiar donuts. Pink and yellow iced ones from Coles! So delicious. And it’s no wonder she got fat if she has a taste for them. So gooood.
Anita says Katie’s stronger than she knows and Steve says she took the words right out of his mouth. She’s stronger than she knows and Robyn knows it, that’s why she pushes so hard too.
It’s not over yet, Hayley reminds them!
But come on, they’re not going to send Janet and Kirsten home, right? Never know…
Katie’s in tears in an aside saying she worked so hard and what good did it do? It lost you 21.4kg!
Gerald and Todd are the biggest losers of the week. Again!
Amber says that Katie and Kirsten are like sisters to her so it’s a worst case scenario.
All the Mums share a room, Mandy says, so it won’t be fun sending one of them home.
Time for the elimination room. Hayley reminds them they’re there to lose weight and change the fate of their family for generations and… you get the idea.
So, who’s voting tonight? Chris, Anita, Mandy, Richard and Gerald. All the parents this time.
Gerald says he’s there because it’s too huge a thing to put on Todd. Same as it was last time!
Richard says Amber and Kirsten will be friends for life and he’s got a good friendship with both Mums, too.
Robyn’s not surprised it’s the parents in there. She says it’s what you do, protect your babies.
Robyn says before the show she’d tried everything she could to help Katie overcome her demons. She loves her so much and wants her to have a life.
Katie’s pretty much bawling.
Janet’s looking at the relationship between Robyn and Katie and envious of it, she wants to have that with Kirsten.
Richard then asks Kirsten what’s going to change, if she does stay? She has a beautiful Mum, but Kirsten gives her a hard time, yeah?
Kirsten says that’s why they need to be there. They’ve never had a relationship before and this is the first time they’ve gotten anywhere. Yes, they take steps forward and some back but they need to be there.
Richard’s just having a hard time deciding and Katie needs to get BAD. He means Belief, Ability, Desire. Katie doubts herself so much, she says. And if she goes home this early it’s just another failure, she thinks.
This is her turning point, she says. If she makes it through tonight there’ll be no stopping her in the house.
Hayley reminds them that no matter what happens here tonight, it’s not over. They should all be proud of themselves and each other.
Mandy says it’ll be really hard, particularly deciding between the two Mums.
Anita’s bouncing back and forth because Kirsten’s a precious, beautiful thing but she’s so angry at times. Katie’s got huge goals but she doesn’t appreciate the smaller goals she’s achieved along the way.
Time to vote! No chance of a tie tonight because there’s five voters. First to three goes home.
Chris is up first. He hasn’t spoken yet!
Chris says he can’t vote with his heart so he’s had to vote with his head so he’s voted for Robyn and Katie. Katie’s face scrunches up and the waterworks start again.
Anita thought it would be easier, she knows she was being naive. They’re still babies. She’s gone with her gut and is sending home the people she thinks will do the best on the outside, even if they don’t know it yet.
Anita’s vote is also for Robyn and Katie!
Mandy’s up next, she’s gone with her heart. She’s thinking about who could survive better on the outside and has gone for Ro… oh, Janet and Kirsten? Really? Pretty sure they’d flounder on the outside.
Richard says Janet reminds him of his wife in so many ways and it’s a good thing. And Robyn’s a great mate. So in the end they’re voting based on who’s the stronger team. So he’s voted for Janet and Kirsten.
Are they seeing things we don’t get to see? Because that’s just weird.
It’s all come down to poor Gerald.
Gerald’s had a bit to think about. Gerald says to Kirsten to keep her eyes open because her Mum loves her to death. Friends come and go but you’ve only got one Mum.
Katie’s struggled. She’s really whipped it out in the gym at some times and other times she hasn’t.
He’s sending home the team who he thinks could do it on the outside.
And that team is Janet and Kirsten?
Um, okay. Tell me I’m not alone here. Tell me I’m not the only one who thinks Robyn and Katie are much better prepared for the outside world!
Kirsten says to the others that she’s been down that end and so she knows how hard it is. But she knows her Mum wants what’s best for her. She needs to listen to her Mum more. She can’t call her a hypocrit anymore because she’s been anything but in her time at Camp Biggest Loser.
They have a hug and Janet says it’s the nicest thing she’s heard her say and Kirsten says she loves her so much. Awwww!
Of course they’re not gone for good so go home, train hard and come back for the second chance!
4 weeks later and they’re out shopping for pretty dresses again. But now Kirsten will fit in things! Seeing her old self and then her new self it’s a big change already.
She’s much more confident in herself.
They go to Fitness First three times a week and they get some other workouts in during the week too. And it’s paying off as they throw their old clothes aside and reveal their new clothing. Janet still looks like an old bogan on holiday but Kirsten’s looking pretty cute now.
Tomorrow night a visit from two Olympians. Um. That would make three, then? Hayley’s an Olympian, Mister Voice Over Man!
Then on Tuesday night, Temptation is back. Dun dun dunnnnnn!
