TBL 7×65 – Thursdays are thpecial!

Tonight! More footage from The Biggest Loser’s trip to Switzerland. Big fluffy doggy, more ice bathing, more snow angels!

Also, Lydia will face her fear of swimming with sharks? Come on, that’s a perfectly reasonable fear that does not require any adjustment to one’s activities to avoid. Why even bother facing that one?

Margie will also be tempted by Mish with some swiss bread with melted swiss cheese all over it.

Bek’s the first video recordist we see video from. She’s interviewing Brenda about her fears (jumping off cliffs or out of a plane!) and Margie says her Mum can have her house if she doesn’t come back on account of being dead.
Alex is fearful of Fear Week and that’s all he’s got to say.

Lots of OH MY GOD and stuff. Very funny.

Then a shot from on the plane. They’ve been flying for 20 hours at that point. Crikey.
Then the chocolate tray comes around! There’s just packets and packets of chocolate in a basket getting passed around. Awesome! I want to go on a Swiss plane!
Brenda’s putting on some lippy before they land because you never know who they might meet at an international airport and they’re there to find love, as well. Haha, Brenda’s a funny little lady.

Then they’re on the bus to their cottage and Margie’s excited to see all the snow for the first time. When they have to get out and change to a train she jumps out to make a snow angel and is having a ball.

They’re on the train and a Saint Bernard doggy wanders in. Complete with the barrel of brandy around his neck for any stranded travellers. So cute. Such a massive dog! And they all give him lots and lots of pats and rubs. Awww.

Early start to the next morning. Graham’s wondering what they’ll end up throwing at the contestants.

Now it’s time for replayed footage from the past week. At least they shifted the boring stuff further into the show?

Meanwhile, in Tasmania! Lydia’s back home and doing her training in a really grubby “gym”. It looks more like a prison shower than a gym.
Her trainer reminds her a lot of Commando Steve and with her injuries they’ve been having to work around them. Lots of upper body workouts and swimming and stuff. She’s really enjoying the swimming part of her training, both getting better at swimming and as part of her recuperation.

Lydia’s also looking after all the horses and getting back into riding her horse, which she’s enjoying a lot more now.

Her diet is a lot healthier and she says that having it prepared and ready to go in the fridge is really helpful as you don’t get as tempted to grab something unhealthy.
New Lydia’s becoming the person she’s wanted to be for a long time. She’s someone that might be found attractive and that someone might care for.

Hayley then tells us that Lydia’s wish to find someone to love might have come true and we might get a look at her beau come Finale. Oooh!

Alex really embraced the ice bath challenge, despite the dangerous nature of it all. Commando Steve says he’s done an ice dunk himself before and it’s no cup of tea.
Steve says that as soon as your feet hit the water it’s just all pain. But they’ve got professional medical help on hand and all the gear they need to make sure it’s safe.

Soon as Alex gets out of the water it’s space blanket on, regular blanket on and off to the warming hut. The longer you stay cold the bigger the danger is, hypothermia can set in and so on.
Alex is in the hut and cocooned in what looks like some high tech electric blankets and chatting away to the medical guys. Steve calls him a tough old bastard!

Time for Dr Swan to catch up with Lydia! She’s lost 56kg so far, she tells him and she’s looking pretty good, it must be said. A very far cry from the pudgy blob she was back at the start.
Her diet’s been really good. Egg whites and chicken, white fish, some salmon and red meat and so on. All looks very healthy.

Then it’s time to see THE KITCHEN OF SHAME.
20 coffees a week, plus cider and soft drinks and shakes added up to about 15,000 calories a week just in liquids, Dr Swan says.
Lydia says the food on the table is quite scary. And Dr Swan says if she slips up for a few days it’s not the end of the world but it’s also not just going to disappear and Lydia knows that and knows that she has to stay mentally strong.

Bio age time!
Lydia’s chronological age at the start was 34. Her bio age was 41. Only a 7 year difference for her which is really not so terrible, not compared to some of the others.

Lydia’s still 34, no birthday for her. And her bio age is now… 32! So she’s actually regained two years of her life! She’s the first one to do that this season, though the other contestants will get an updated bio age next week…

Hayley says it took Margie 45 minutes of crying and delays before she could jump off for the canyon swing thing.
Replay of her hesitating before jumping off again! We’re going to see the aftermath tonight, Hayley’s told us.
So get on with it!

She says afterwards that she’s never been so scared in her life but she lived through it, Steve says! Steve gives her a big hug and says she’s trembling.
Margie says she has a heart and has feelings and feels alive for the first time in a while.

Now it’s time for Lydia’s Face Your Fears. She’s pretty scared of the water and swimming in it and stuff.
So today Sammy’s going to get Lydia to face her fears… at Sydney Aquarium. They’re in the underwater tunnel thingy with the glass roof so you can look up at the sharks swimming around and go AHHHHHHHHHH DON’T EAT ME, SHARKS.

Sammy’s wearing a blue top and a green skirt which is fitting for the setting, I suppose, but not really a good combination. The skirt and her heels make her bum look spectacular, though!

Lydia’s challenge today will be to go swimming with the sharks. She’s never scuba dived before, let alone with a bunch of sharks, so she’s really quite nervous.
It’s about letting go of the past and embracing the new Lydia, Sammy says. Lydia says just being in a wetsuit is embracing the new Lydia!

Lydia gets some quick instruction on scuba diving and then heads out and into the main tank. Immediately she’s surrounded by heaps and heaps of fishies!

Then she has to swim out further. And Sammy says the big shark is coming straight for Lydia!
Lydia realises she’s come a long way from the start. She struggled just doing a training session in the pool with her trainer a couple of months ago and now she’s swimming around with SHARKS!

Anything is possible, Lydia says. And it was amazing!

Just before Mish left Switzerland she decided to reward Margie for being so brave with her canyon leap.
Mish calls her aside at the little chat the contestants and trainers were having before they left and Margie jokes that it’s finally happening and Mish says it only took one drink!

Margie likes her cheese sandwiches. She really, really likes them. And back in Week Two she’d tried to eat one sneakily, not realising there was spy cameras everywhere.

Mish says it’s pretty huge that she’s going to let Margie indulge like this but they’re in Switzerland and it’s a traditional thing there and how could you not?
Mish even has a big bit of bread and cheese herself! But only one bite each. But they’ve both had a cheese sandwich in Switzerland, Mish says!

And that’s all for the Thursday episode. Tune in again on Sunday night!
