TBL 7×58 – Sweet, delicious cupcakes. Get in my belly!

Previously on The Biggest Loser some of the contestants got to fulfill their dreams. Horse riding, surfing, helping kids and… trying on clothes?

Tonight there’s some breakdowns in training. Margie’s hungry, Bek’s life isn’t perfect. But with every breakdown THERE’S A BREAKTHROUGH, RIGHT?

Also, Temptation. Lydia’s gonna eat a bunch of cupcakes. Omnomnom!

Speaking of Lydia, her dream is being fulfilled now. She’s off with Mish… to Tasmania!
Mish made Lydia a promise that the start of the show would be the last time she rode her horse at that weight. Lydia’s now lost a bunch of weight, of course, so they’re off to visit her horse!
Lydia’s obviously thrilled to see her pony. Her pony just does not give a fuck. Just keeps on munching on some grass, as horses do!

Lydia hops up on her horse with the help of a mounting block. Says it was so easy compared to how it used to be. I guess losing the weight doesn’t make her any taller, after all.
Lydia says it’s great, she’s having a great time riding her horse and a lot more comfortable in the saddle.
She then gets to ride along in front of a group of onlookers, something she used to dread. But she’s proud today, she says, after putting in all the work she has.

Back at Camp the Dream Day is over. Steve’s got Alex and Graham in the kitchen for another revisit with their nutrition stuff. They’re still not getting it right, Steve says. And Alex knows his must be a bit off because he only lost 100 grams at the last weigh in.

Steve tells them they’ve obviously not been following the diet plan he’s laid out. He didn’t just hatch from an egg and get the way he is today. He watches what he eats, measures it out and stuff, so he knows exactly what he’s putting into his body.
Steve’s going to ration out their food so they know exactly what they can and can not have.

He’s got a chopping board out and put the foods in bags and done some of the chopping for them. Steve tells them to eat like he eats and train like he trains, no room for error.
Time for some off-site training with Steve to see how he trains.

Shannan’s got his girls in Steve’s workout shed and is planning on pushing them very hard today to get to the bottom of some of their problems.
Shannan tells them the Commando will have a fit when he knows they’re training in his gym!

400 metre sprint gets them started. 14km/hr for Bek. Brenda’s a bit slower and wishing she could get that bit faster and keep up.
She’s struggling to keep going and hops off for a second and Shannan tells her to get back on and keep going! Bek also freaks out right near the end and has to hop off. They’re going to redo it till they get it done.

Or until Brenda just about passes out, complaining of dizziness and eventually having to be helped by Shannan to a nearby chair to catch her breath. She thinks she’s pushed herself too far.
Bek’s still a mess, too. But Shannan is going to keep pushing them.

Bek is insistent she can’t do 14km/hr for 2 minutes but Shannan asks her how often he’s asked her to do something she couldn’t? He never has. She ran at 16.5km the other day! Only for 30 seconds, but Shannan tells her she can do it!

Shannan tells us all the contestants have some underlying emotional issues they’ve tried to suppress and it’s affected their weights. So he asks Bek how she got to be so big in the first place, since she always seems so positive and strong?
She moved overseas at 17 and that’s when she started to put on weight. 20kg in a year. Her Mum and all her family were quite surprised when she came back home. Bek says she’s getting a lot of support from her family and her family is the best in Australia, Bek says.
Shannan’s not buying it. He says there’s something inside her and he’s going to get to the bottom of it.

What’s her Dad say? Oh, her parents divorced so she didn’t grow up with her Dad and never had a close relationship with him, only saw him a couple of times a year, he remarried and has another family now.
Bek tells us that as a child she felt like if her Dad couldn’t love her then how could anyone else?

Bek says to Shannan that she doesn’t really want to talk about it. Shannan says it wasn’t always perfect and wonderful and stuff? It’s taken him eleven weeks to crack through Bek’s shell but he’s done it, and it’s okay to feel those lows. Gotta see the lows to see the highs, etc etc.
Bek says her family are so excellent and wonderful but sometimes that makes her feel like she hasn’t found her own excellent stuff yet.
Shannan tells her it’s okay to feel sad when she’s sad, doesn’t need to be happy and up all the time, just has to be herself.

And Shannan tells her she can do the 14km/hr thing. He knows she has it in her, it’ll take a massive effort but she can do it.
Bek’s still not sure, especially after having a breakdown, but Shannan urges her on and she manages to push through a couple of wanting-to-stop moments and gets it done. She thanks Shannan afterwards and he says it’s cool, this is what it’s all about.

Steve’s taken Alex and Graham to Crossfit Brookvale. Some of the exercises in the gym there will be familiar to them, some won’t, but it’s all a learning experience.
Steve gets started with some crazy chinups from poles strung from the roof then moves on to a medicine ball which he picks up above his head and then slams onto the ground, over and over, then pushes a weighted sled across the gym floor. Alex says Steve does this every day and it’s obviously hard work but if you look at him it obviously pays off.

Graham’s chinups are done off a box because he’s still way too heavy to lift his weight up by himself and hold it up.
Alex’s workout is a bit slower paced but Steve’s getting him to focus on good technique, rather than going too hard at it.

Alex also says Graham wasn’t beating him a couple weeks ago but now? Now Graham’s actually quite a bit ahead of him. Think Alex is forgetting he’s still quite unwell!

Steve says there’s a big difference between the man who walked into Camp on Day One and the man Graham is today.
Steve’s flogged Graham today and he’s finding it hard to breathe and Steve is pleased because it shows he’s actually worked as hard as he can!

Lydia’s knee is very painful today so she’s resting up with an ice pack on it. She’s been worried for a while that her knees wouldn’t carry her all the way through the competition and it seems like they’ve flared up. She’s been off for scans and is waiting to hear back on the results.
She’s missed some training sessions, which isn’t great for her, especially as she does love to train. Mish is going to try and get the results for her ASAP so they can find out what’s going on. Lydia’s plan at the moment is just to try and rest up and recover a bit so she can make it the rest of the way in the competition… though she’s worried about that pesky Yellow Line, of course.

So Margie and Mish have some one on one training time. Margie says it’s been her dream all along but now that it’s actually here she’s a little nervous.
Margie trained for 45 minutes on the cross trainer and then some outside work as well. How many calories has she burned? Only 127 calories. Her goal is to do 600 calories every morning before Mish turns up and, well, that’s a bit short!
Margie insists she’s hitting that goal on other days but she’s not done it today.

They’re going to do the 600 calories now, Mish says. Uhoh!
Mish thinks maybe Margie hasn’t been doing everything she says she’s been doing and following the diet plan to the letter and so on. Mish is going to dig into that today and find out what’s gone on.

Has Margie been following the diet plan, yes or no? No! She had an extra nectarine because she was starving. She’s been feeling extra hungry. She also had an extra diet coke.
No excuses! Mish says it’s not important what she had it’s the fact she’s bucking the system and not following the meal plan.

Mish says there’s fruit in the diet but it’s for the morning, not the night. Margie just chose to have an extra piece of fruit! Margie says she goes to bed so fucking hungry she could eat a possum off the verandah, she’s so hungry. She’s not sure what Mish wants her to say, but she’s struggling with it all. Margie’s the only one who goes out running, she’s really trying, but Michelle got sent home and Margie would really like to be the one who went home. She’s sick of being told what to do like a monkey in a zoo. Everything’s the same for so long and she just wants to get out. The time in the house is wearing her down.
Mish tells us they’re fast tracking the fixing of the years of mistreatment their bodies have undergone and none of the contestants should have been expecting that to be easy and yet they still have no idea just how hard it would be.

Kasey and Tiff are in the outside gym. Kasey’s hit her goal of being able to ride her horse again so now they’re going to reassess her goal, set her something new for the weeks ahead. Dream big!
What’s a big goal for Kasey? Win the competition.
Kasey thinks she’s not too far away from being able to do it, she just has to set the goal and believe in herself.

Kasey can’t remember the last time her Dad looked at her and was proud. Yesterday while riding their horses was the first time.
Tiff is thrilled Kasey has come back to Camp in fighting spirit.

Shannan’s trying to have a chat with Brenda after training about why she had a breakdown. He wants to find out what Brenda’s hiding away from everyone all the time. He finally coaxes Brenda into a chair and she says it’s not something that can be fixed. Shannan says that of course it can be fixed. The more you think it can’t be fixed, the more you’ll feel bad about it. You can’t forget about things but you can move on, etc.
Brenda says she moved out of home and lived on her own and spent a couple of years thinking if she didn’t let anyone in then nobody could hurt her. Brenda had been hurt or abandoned by everyone close to her, Shannan says, while she was growing up.
Brenda started putting weight on during a long term relationship and it just kept piling on. Couldn’t lose the weight, even for IVF treatment, and then lost the love of her life as well.

Brenda thinks she spent the whole relationship waiting for him to leave because everyone else has left her.

As Brenda rests her head on her hand on the table we see her Polar watch and… the display is blurred out? Why? Weird.

Brenda’s always got part of herself being eaten away by her demons, Shannan says. She’s not okay and she needs to start dealing with it instead of just pushing it down and trying to be okay.

Today’s a good day for dealing with it, Shannan says. No time like the present!

Brenda had sort of sabotaged the relationship and he’d been trying to help her but in the end they split up.
Is that when the weight really piled on, Shannan asks? No, a while after that they got back together for a bit… until the woman he’d been seeing while they were apart sent the scans of the baby in her belly to Brenda.

Lovely.

Shannan tells her she can break the pain and the angst and the hold it all has on her. She can stop being a victim.

Then we see another shot of Brenda’s watch and it says 11:37. So why was it blurred before? So, so weird.

And now it’s time for Temptation!

The contestants file into a checkerboard floored room with fog billowing across… and cupcakes glimpsed beneath. OM. NOM. NOM!

Hayley says the time to win Immunity is now. Some are carrying injuries. Do they gamble on making it through weigh in or take a shot today?

Kasey tells us they want Bek and Brenda gone and Alex, herself, Lydia and Margie had agreed that Lydia would take Temptation.

WHAT. THE HELL. Lydia is a returning contestants and a massive threat. What the fuck are you thinking of, Kasey?

Anyway the cupcakes are 113 calories each. They’re from My Little Cupcake. Whoever they are.

Underneath three of the cupcakes is an Immunity star. The first contestant to eat a cupcake and find a star will win.

If nobody plays or nobody finds a star then Immunity stays with Alex.

Lydia’s been down with an injury so Bek knows she’ll be having a crack.

And Lydia’s going to have the first go, indeed. She starts out by licking the icing on top with much relish and then goes for a big chomp. After she finishes the mouthful she says she’d go so far as to say that’s the best cupcake she’s ever eaten.

Nobody else looks interested in playing so Lydia grabs a chocolate one. Which still brings no joy.

And then Margie steps on one. SMART.

Hayley says if you stand on one you have to eat it!

Margie confesses to us that she wanted to eat about five of the cupcakes so it wasn’t a total tragedy, having to eat one.
She doesn’t get Immunity though.

Bek’s tempted. But she tells us her and Brenda knew Lydia would play and play hard. Bek’s not fussed if Bek wins, or Brenda wins, or even someone else wins. So long as Lydia doesn’t win.

Lydia says she had to take this Temptation because she’s injured her knee and been unable to train this week.
So instead of just trusting in the diet she’s going to just eat a crapload of cupcakes? WHY ARE THEY ALL TURNING SO STUPID, GUYS?

She’s up to her fifth cupcake which brings the calorie tally to 565.
She’s struggling to even eat the rest of her fifth so it’d better have Immunity…

NOPE!

Brenda and Bek are eyeing off some cupcakes and figuring if one of them has a go the other then has permission to have a go too.

Brenda’s first to try and doesn’t have a star under her cupcake either!

Next up is Bek. Bek tells us that she loved the look on Lydia’s face when Bek started playing, like Lydia was horrifed Bek was playing “her” game. But it’s not just her game, honey.

Bek finishes off her cupcake and goes to reveal her sticker… just in time for an ad break, of course.

Nope! No star for Bek.

Brenda’s grabbed up another cupcake to see what the vanilla ones taste like. She’d’ve wondered all night, otherwise.
No star for Brenda!

Bek has a chocolate one. Still no star!

Lydia’s on her sixth now. She’s getting the shakes and sweating, Margie says, but she’s tough and will keep going.
Lydia’s getting angry and upset now, she tells us. Still no immunity. Well, maybe you should stop being a moron?

Seventh! She says she’s starting to retch and the cupcakes are making an attempt at escape.
Still no star!

Lydia has to wander backstage for a bit though we can still hear her trying not to puke them all up as Kasey prepares to eat her first cupcake.
Bek says watching Lydia struggle was the icing on the cupcake!

Kasey finishes her chocolate cupcake and… nothing!

Kasey figures she may as well keep going since it’s obvious Lydia won’t be able to. But she doesn’t want Bek or Brenda to get immunity.
She thinks Tiff is going to get right up her after she’d resisted for so long.

Kasey’s on to her third and still nothing.

Lydia comes back out for an eighth. She’s getting really angry at what the game is making her do, she tells us. Ain’t nobody but you choosing to stuff your face, Lydia.

Kasey’s also grabbed a cupcake while Lydia’s eating her cupcake.

Hayley tells them the odds continue to improve for the others.

Then as one of the ladies is revealing her sticker we see that it’s got a star on it… But we won’t find out who owns that cupcake until…

Tomorrow night!
Also tomorrow night Margie and Mish try to hammer out their differences. Apparently Mish doesn’t know Margie AT ALL. HUFF.

Some crazy swimming and digging in the sand follows. They’re digging for TREASURE. ARRRRRRRRRRRR!
The treasure is messages and assorted junk from home, not doubloons, but I’m still going to insist on some pirate references during the challenge…
