TBL 7×57 – GRAHAM IS A STUPID HEAD

Previously on The Biggest Loser Michelle got sent home in the WORST. DECISION. EVERRRRR.

Tonight everyone’s shocked at Margie still being in the game. Mish is in happy shock, Shannan is in disbelieving shock.
Later the contestants get to go fulfill some dream stuff. Alex on a motorbike, vroomvroom. Margie goes surfing, splishsplash. Probably other things happen too. It’s a sixty-nine minute long episode!

Graham’s still upset after the elimination because he was close to Michelle. SO WHY DIDN’T YOU VOTE MARGIE OUT YOU FUCKING MORON? Seriously. It’s a wonder he hasn’t walked in front of a bus yet. Not on purpose, just because he must be too stupid to cross the road unassisted, there’s no other explanation for what’s going on.
ARG!

Margie’s surprised at who voted to keep her in. Yeah, you’re not alone there Margie. She was expecting to go home, she tells them and it’s awesome to know she has another week.
Margie says to Kasey that she hopes to fill the void for Kasey, support her and stuff. Kasey thinks of Margie as a sister and didn’t want to vote for either of them and Margie says she knows that, no hard feelings at all.

Brenda thinks Michelle can do it on the outside. I’m not so sure, but hopeful! At least she can spend more time with Hamish, n’awwww!

Kasey tells us that she’s had a good time with Michelle and Michelle’s really pushed her along and kept her going through the competition. Kasey says to the others that it’s been great to see Michelle grow as a person and grow in confidence and to find a boyfriend! That was a big step for Michelle, being able to speak to guys.
Kasey says Michelle’s week at home was actually a good thing for her as well as it let her see she can cope without Michelle being there.

Kasey promises us she’s going to work hard for Michelle and will be happy if she can at least get in the top four.

Margie says Mish will be glad to see her but it’s time to play a trick on her. Margie scoots out of the bedroom before Mish can turn up to train her team so it’s just Lydia sitting on her bed with a book. Mish figures Margie would have to be gone because she’s a huge threat and surely she’d be voted out, right?
As Mish is talking to Lydia Margie dances in behind her and Mish is SHOCKED. She bursts into tears and gives her a huge hug. Awww, Mish! So lovely!
Mish says it just wasn’t her time to go. And maybe the contestants have made a mistake in leaving her there, because she has the strength to go all the way.

Apparently Margie had a chat to Brenda before the vote to tell her that while they weren’t close the first time around Margie’s found the new Brenda to be wonderful. So Brenda voted to keep her in and Mish is gobsmacked.
Mish is loving that the competition was sort of dropped for a moment and they could see Margie needed some extra time.

Shannan’s turned up to train Bek and Brenda and Shannan immediately asks if Margie’s gone. Nope! Bek says Margie plead a really good case and everyone listened… Shannan wonders what case?! Money up for grabs!
Why’d Brenda vote for Michelle? Because Brenda and Margie have become good friends now… Shannan’s not buying it. Says they can be friends later, she’s the biggest threat in the competition! How could you?!

Bek then jokingly suggests that maybe now they’ve got an alliance with Margie that will get them through… A-haaaaaaa. Shannan laughs and asks if they really thought they’d get that one past him.

Shannan then recaps Margie’s history. Week One she didn’t have to send Selena home but she did. Tore strips off Hamish for putting rocks in the red basket after red and black conspired to get him out of the challenge that week. Margie got rid of Bek. Margie got rid of Brenda.
Shannan says she’s been RUTHLESS. Are you scared of her? Brenda says no, she’s just thinking more of her own goals right now.
Shannan asks her to hop off the treadmill for a second and gives her a playful little slap on the cheek, then a playful backhand. She’s giggling but OH BOY IS THAT GOING TO BLOW UP IN HIS FACE.

Shannan tells her to try again and this time she says she’s going to be number one! She’s going to win! She has to believe in herself, Shannan says.
She’s trying to fix the defeatist attitude she occasionally has.

Brenda’s struggling, Bek thinks, but she tells us they’re in with a real chance and they can both make it to the top four. And maybe Bek can even win, wouldn’t that be something?!

Tiff turns up to train her team and it’s just Kasey and Tiff is obviously crushed. Tiff and Kasey have a big hug. Kasey thinks of Tiff like a stand in Mum? Okay.
So now they’ve got some time to themselves! No more distractions with Selena or Hamish/Michelle, just Kasey and Tiff. So they both get on spinbikes and do some pedalling while having a chat.

Kasey thinks she can get to Finale. What’s holding her back, Tiff asks? She needs to start believing in herself more. Push herself harder and not give up.
Tiff makes a deal with Kasey – Tiff’s job is to push Kasey and Kasey’s job is to keep up with Tiff.
They’ve already done the one-on-one for Last Chance Training where Kasey found there was nowhere to hide. And Tiff is impressed by Kasey’s fitness today, she’s puffing Tiff out even.

Still don’t know how people run on treadmills. It seems too bizarre to me. Running so fast and not going anywhere, not getting that wonderful breeze on your face. Weird.

Anyway!

Kasey says she’s not normally very competitive but it’d be awesome to win the whole show!

Graham, Alex and Steve training in the outside gym again. Alex is still not too well so he’s just doing a slow jog around the outside of the area while Graham’s getting flogged inside.

Graham thinks he can win. He thinks he’s got the mental strength to win. I’m not sure he has the mental capacity to count as high as his weight in kilograms.

But Commando gets the best out of him.

Tough training session, right Graham? And you’re still standing! Ready to keep fighting? They’re going to throw some gloves on and do some boxing.
Steve says boxing is a great workout, very good for cardiovascular, balance, timing, everything. Especially when someone is trying to knock your block off.

Graham tells us that neither of them are much good at boxing but when Commando says to punch him, you punch him! Graham’s giving as good as he gets, too. Getting in some good shots to Steve’s body and head. Steve’s obviously holding back a bit with his punches as some land pretty flush on Graham’s giant melon.
But not many people have boxed with Commando in the ring so Graham’s pretty chuffed anyway.

After all the training is done the trainers all file into Loser Lounge for a chat with the contestants. Mish says that, as of tomorrow, it’s Dreams Week. Brand new chapter of their journey and stuff.

Tiff tells us each contestant will have one wish and the trainer fairies will be making it happen for them. FAIRIES! :D

Mish asks them how their weight was holding them back before coming to Camp.

Graham’s first to talk. He says at over 200kg he couldn’t do the extra training for the Rural Fire Service that he’d’ve liked to do. All he could do was man the pumps, which frustrated him.
But when he gets to his goal he will be able to. Steve picks up on that and says there’s a big shift in Graham’s attitude because now he’s thinking he WILL be able to, rather than not.

What lead to Graham getting so big, anyway? Bouts of depression, he says, for a lot of years. First one was when he injured his knee and couldn’t play any of his sports he loved anymore. Then later in life he couldn’t get any work because people wouldn’t want to take the risk on a fat guy so he started to feel like a failure in life and that he’d let his family down. Then back in 2000 he had a particularly bad bout and contemplated suicide.
Maybe I shouldn’t’ve made a joke about stepping in front of a bus? Eh, what’s done is done. Not like I can go back and edit it…

Steve says that’s the first time Graham’s admitted things got that bad. He’s obviously come a long way if he can actually talk about it now.

Mish says they’re all proving they can take control of their lives.

Kasey’s weight held her back from horse riding. People would look at her while she was out riding and it’d make her uncomfortable.

Eight years since Margie’s been out paddling on her surfboard. Everyone’s shocked at how long it’s been. She’s no Layne Beachley but she really enjoyed doing it, back in the day.
Steve says all their dreams are going to come true tomorrow. So try and get a good sleep tonight!

As the trainers exit the room Lydia calls out to them, “If my dream’s coming true then I’ll see YOU tomorrow, Commando!” Everyone cracks up laughing and even Steve breaks out one of his big grins.

Mish says the day she met Margie she promised her she’d get her back out on the waves. So Mish is thrilled to have this day finally come.
Mish has got Margie’s favourite board down from Queensland and Margie’s excited to see it, but also quite an emotional experience. She never thought she’d get the chance to ride on it again. Margie hadn’t been riding on it for a long time because she’s simply gotten too heavy for the board to hold her.

Margie then tells us it felt like she was drifting away from the memory of her brother. Her brother was murdered 25 years ago. Apparently he’d been in a pub, left and some random guy came up and had words with him and then stabbed him. Jeepers! D:
Margie says he would’ve gone on to the pro surfing circuit if he’d lived so it’s been hard for them.

But it’s not just Margie heading out into the surf, Mish is going to join her on her own board! Mish says she’ll need some lessons though… Could be quite a day, Mish thinks!

Both of them have cameras attached to their surfboards on the nose so we can watch them.

Mish admits she can’t surf, at all, but she always has a ball getting out there and having a go.

Margie’s right back into it, riding a wave in on her knees while Mish flounders along getting dumped over and over. Margie’s having a great time, says it’s the happiest she’s been in a long time just paddling out and sitting up the back.
She doesn’t manage to stand up but she doesn’t mind, says Rome wasn’t built in a day and she has the rest of her life ahead of her now to try and get back into it and get back to where she was.

Mish and Margie sit down on the beach afterwards and Mish says it was fun. Margie says it was and it was great to get back out there. Mish says it’s been out of her reach for years and she’s obviously come a long way.
Margie says nothing’s going to stop her now.

Dream week is about fulfilling dreams for the contestants, Steve says. When he first met Alex he saw a 161kg butcher waiting for a heart attack before he’d make a change to his lifestyle.
Alex recalls going out for drinks with mates and drinking lots and smoking lots and so on.
He’s always wanted to ride motorbikes but he’s always felt too bike to do it. Steve’s telling him he’s lost a lot of weight and now it’s time to start fulfilling some dreams.

Steve asks him if he could ride a bike, what would it be? Nothing but a Harley, of course. He’s out the front of a Honda building though. Do Honda own Harley these days? Hrm. Anyway. Alex is chuffed riding around. He thinks he could ride a bike all day, loves the noise they make, everything.

Dream come true, Alex tells Steve.
Then Steve has a bike of his own and they head off on the open road to go cruising. Presumably, for chicks!

Steve’s bike is cooler though. Red and flamey and badass.

Alex says he wants to buy a Harley when he gets back home now.

Bek’s dream was to… help children? So her and Shannan are at the Sydney Children’s Hospital. Shannan says her weight has held her back, no self confidence and the judgement and stuff.
Bek, from the beginning, is talking about always wanting to help kids, it’s like a calling to her.

They’re going to the Starlight Room of the Children’s Hospital and Shannan’s looking forward to seeing her in her element. Bek says this is absolutely her dream and it’s really exciting!

The Starlight lady introduces Bek and Shannan to all the kids and the parents present and both say HIIIIIIII. :D Dorks.
Starlight lady says they’re preparing for Starlight Day and they need 5,000 volunteers to help them. If you’d like to help or donate you can go to www.starlight.org

Bek does some facepainting and bubble blowing and posing for pictures with the sick kiddies. Bek didn’t feel like she could bring the enthusiasm and joy when she was overweight but she feels like she radiates it now.
She seems to be a hit with the kids, too. Makes jokes with the kids. And paints some fake tribal-y tatts on one of the kids while asking him if he can take Shannan on. Kid doesn’t think the tattoos and the blue hat will do it!

Shannan is really impressed by Bek’s commitment to not only improving her own life but that of everyone around her.

Bek says it was a perfect day for her, she’d love to play with kids and make them happy for the rest of her life. Awwwwww!

Tiff and Kasey are next. Tiff says all she’s ever heard about is Kasey and her horse and how she doesn’t get to ride Santa anymore.
So I guess we’re going riding today?

Kasey was feeling a little left out of her family because they’re all horse riders and she doesn’t get to do that anymore.

They’re strolling across a farm looking place and come to a horse stable and there’s Santa! Awww! They get him all tacked up and Kasey dressed appropriately… but there’s still one thing missing. It’s Kasey’s Dad and his horse. Awwww!
Kasey’s Dad was trying to encourage her to keep riding and lose the weight and Kasey used to yell at him and she apologises to him for that.

Kasey gets up on her horse and tells us she’s never been up on Santa at under 100kg and today doing so felt awesome. The weather’s a bit naff but she doesn’t care, she’s having a great day out riding with her Dad. She’s even re-establishing her close bond with her Dad. Awww!

Brenda’s got an eye for fashion, Shannan says. She’s been working for a designer for a long time and at her size she can’t really show off the fashions because they’re not designed for girls size 20+. If she really wants to progress further in her career she needs to get down to a size 12-14 or so.

CUE MORE OUTRAGE. Girls shouldn’t have to fit into a certain size, fashion designers should design for more sizes.

NO. Brenda was morbidly obese and now she’s not anymore. THIS IS A GOOD THING.

Anyway. Brenda’s going to get into some of the clothes she’s been dreaming about wearing all her life. And a makeover while she’s at it. So her wish is… Makeover Day? Okay.

Brenda’s looking at a rack of size 16 clothes and still in the mindset of those sorts of fashions not fitting her. Of course she’s a lot lighter now so they could!
And yep, they fit. The first outfit doesn’t look that great, nor does the second, but the simple blue dress she brings out third? Perfect. Very flattering. Then she tries on some others, some sparkly ones and so on. In the end the favourite is one with a red top, much to Shannan’s mock-disappointment.
But Shannan has one more surprise up his sleeve!

Two of her best friends are there for the last reveal. The two girls are amazed at how good she looks and Brenda says, “It’s too big, BUT IT’S CARLA!” Carla Zampatti, I presume. Weird label obsessed people.
Her friends tell her she looks amazing. They get some photos taken with a spiffy photographer and stuff. Awww.

Steve says that the Rural Fire Service means EVERYTHING to Graham. It’s about the only time he’s guaranteed to get an emotion out of Graham, talking about the RFS.

Graham says his weight and lack of fitness made it hard to do the day to day stuff in the RFS but also prevented him from going and getting his CABA training. CABA stands for Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus, lets you get into a burning building with an oxygen supply and hopefully then have the ability to rescue anyone still trapped inside.
His weight also prevented him from helping during things like the Victorian bushfire disaster.

Graham’s actually going to do his CABA training as his dream wish? Sweet!

Steve’s going to do it with him, too. Cool!

Graham’s really excited to do it all. Steve explains all the steps in the test like it’s a military mission. Start out in a smoke filled environment, winch yourselves into a room below, crawl through a confined space, find a casualty, extract them, put them in a stretcher, winch them out and get them to safety.

Steve says firefighters need to be able to do this sort of thing every day. Graham’s still carrying a bit of weight and while his fitness has improved, will he have the confidence to get through the crawl?

Graham makes it through quite easily in the end, though he admits he was very nervous and shaking the whole way.
They get to the room with the FIRES and set off in search of the casualty. Graham finds the dummy first and they work together to pull the dead weight out of the room, back through the crawlway and to the stretcher ready for extraction.
Graham says you’ve got to keep calm and focused because you’ve only got a certain amount of air in your system to get it done.

Graham knows his Mum and Dad will be very proud of him for achieving this today, when they see it on the TV. This is one of his goals and he’s stoked to have achieved it.

Steve asks the instructor afterwards how Graham did and he says Graham’s done just fine, achieved exactly what he had to and more.
Graham says it’s been an exciting day and it’s the proudest he’s been for a long time.

Tomorrow night… lots of drama at training. Margie admits to being hungry to the point of considering eating a possum from the verandah. She wants to get out.
Brenda feels dizzy!
Shannan’s going to dig into Bek and find out what’s really going on inside her head, nobody can be so perfect, surely?
Lydia’s going to be tempted by cupcakes at Temptation.

And Steve does a LOT of chinups. Not sure what that’s about.
