TBL 7×55 – STACKS ON BEK!!!

Previously on The Biggest Loser Michelle got sent home for the rest of the week, courtesy of Margie. It wasn’t done with malice, for a change, it was Michelle’s mother’s birthday and she wanted to go home and see her. Awww!

Also, Alex is not at all a well boy. He’d been struggling with illness all week but managed to get up and participate in some of the Temptation. Later that night an ambulance had to be called as he started experiencing excruciating chest pains.

Tonight… we find out what’s wrong with Alex? Maybe?

Also Kurt Fearnley is at Camp to have a chat and a workout with the contestants. He’s cheating, he has wheels!

Then the weekly challenge/contest is a weight based endurance game where the contestants can stack weight on to a bar across the shoulders of the other competitors.

But first! Oh, it’s just Bek and Brenda up early in the morning in the Temptation booth area. Brenda thinks maybe nobody has taken part and so she figures this is her chance to have a crack at getting Immunity. She’s a little worried after pulling a massive number in the past week. She’d love to have another week at Camp!

Everyone else wanders down later. Brenda thinks her participation is written all over her face and she hopes she doesn’t have any of the chocolate she ate on her face or in her teeth. Drinking her coffee and trying to appear nonchalant!

Margie comes in and checks on her pizzas. She says they don’t look right.

Only a minute to go and Margie says now’s the time to eat something, right? Everyone else says she’s assuming nobody already has done so!
Margie has a look into Brenda’s box and says, “Brenda, I think there’s some activity in your box!” Everyone has a good giggle at the obvious joke.

Hayley turns up as the timer runs down. There’s crumbs in the Temptation Booth so the contestants ask her if she’s eaten something? Hayley says maybe!

Of course nobody but Margie and Kasey know that Alex has already taken part. They’re hoping he’s done enough to get the Immunity, since he was rushed to hospital last night. Hopefully he’ll be back later in the day.
Graham’s particularly upset and Hayley’s got a message from Alex. Basically telling “Gub” the best thing to do is to train hard and he’ll be back soon!

But in amongst all the drama we still had Temptation. Who took part? Who’s been SNEAKY?

Hayley’s tallied the results and only two people were tempted in the end. Alex and Brenda.

Brenda had a late run at the Temptation food and consumed… an ad break!

After the ad break we find out that Brenda consumed… 222 calories. Margie’s in the background holding her breath as the number is about to be announced and then she’s obviously very relieved when the 222 is revealed.

Alex sneaked in and ate… 1,109 calories. Brenda says she doesn’t feel too bad because she wouldn’t’ve gone that far anyway.

Alex wins Immunity, so long as he doesn’t gain weight at weigh in…

Steve and Shannan greet the contestants post-Temptation. Brenda’s the only guilty looking one since Alex is still in hospital at this point. Shannan doesn’t seem too upset by the 222 calories. Steve says Alex is a sneaky bugger for eating over 1,000 calories.
Steve also tells us that he’s actually made a really smart move, playing and winning at Temptation. He’s guaranteed himself another week and that’s important at this stage of the game.

Shannan then tells us that only the toughest will survive now. The only obstacle in their way now is their mind.
He tells the contestants he did one of the toughest things in his life two years ago, both physically and psychologically. And we all know how tough Shannan is in both regards!
Shannan walked the Kokoda Track.

And the person he’s going to introduce them to now did the Kokoda Track at the same time, except he crawled all the way.
Graham instantly knows who it is and pumps his fist. Margie knew who Shannan was talking about as well.

Shannan also calls Kurt his favourite Australian athlete.

Graham tells us he’s known Kurt since he was born, Kurt’s got a park in Carcoar named after him, big inspiration. And they used to play touch footy together, Kurt would get across the field quicker than the other kids who were running.

Kurt says the strongest part of them is the heart and the mind. And there’s nothing wrong with struggling, nothing wrong with hating today and feeling so sore you want to give up – so long as you don’t!
The hardest part of Kokoda was stopping each night. He’d stop and feel horrible and like he couldn’t possibly keep going the next day. Each night he’d lie down and that’d be it, he wouldn’t move until he woke up the next morning. But each morning he’d feel a little better, a little more able to keep going and he’d just get back into it.

Shannan says Kurt has never really seen himself as having a disability so… let’s have a race! First person to a kilometre.

And just to make it fair, Kurt’s going to start in his regular chair, not his race chair, and his race chair isn’t on the wind trainer. And Kurt doesn’t have his gloves on.

Ready contestants? Go!
Kurt looks up at Shannan after checking his watch and asks him how he’s doing. HAHAHAHAHA

Kurt finally gets moving on setting up his chair and getting started and so on.

Shannan wants the contestants to push hard since they’re racing against an Olympian!

1 minute and 20 seconds and Kurt’s still not on his wind trainer… and doesn’t get going until the 3 minute mark. Lydia’s the only real challenger but… they all get flogged by Kurt who still gets there ahead of them all, despite the huge disadvantage of having to get himself set up first.
Of course distance events are where wheelchair athletes tend to do exceptionally well since they can do some coasting, which requires a lot less effort, plus wheels are easier to push along than stupid legs. And they’ve got way lower wind resistance.

Wheelchair athletes have it SO EASY, GUYS.

Lydia says it was great meeting Kurt today. You have some good days and bad at Camp and some days you want to give up. What she’s learned from Kurt is that you have to keep going, no matter how hard things get.

Everyone wishes Kurt the best of luck at the upcoming Olympics. And Graham and Kurt get a special catch up chat.

Kurt says that Graham’s a lovely bloke and everyone knows it back at home and what he’s doing here is ensuring he’ll be around for another 20 years and when he leaves he can do whatever the hell he wants.
Kurt says everyone back home loves him and they might have to rename Kurt’s park and Graham says no, that’s his park, maybe Graham could have the one next to the fire shed though? :D

Kurt also tells him that everyone at home is being pulled along with him and if it ever gets too hard just think of everyone back at home. Graham’s in a good place right now, he says.

The next day everyone’s heading out onto the parade ground for another challenge day. It’s miserable, raining and cold, and they’re all pretty used to the weather being shit for challenge day!

But Tiff’s back from her sickliness, hooray! Michelle’s still at home, Alex is still in hospital getting some tests done so there’s only six of them competing today.

Today they’re going to show how strong they’ve become as it’s another Stacks On challenge.

Everyone holds a bar over their shoulders and then one at a time you pick another contestant to lump 10kg onto. Drop your bar, you’re out. Last one still holding their bar wins!

Hayley says she can’t tell if they’re smiling or nervous and Bek says a bit of both!

The winner today will only get a 1kg weight advantage at weigh in. But in the spirit of the challenge, Hayley says, they’ll also get a 1kg penalty to inflict on another contestant. Ouch!

Margie says this won’t be a good challenge for her as she injured her shoulder many years ago while surfing.
The bars themselves weigh 20kg and Brenda’s struggling to even lift the bar up onto her shoulders to start the challenge!

Brenda knows she’s not strong and is hoping people will just leave her alone for a bit.
Graham’s confident he can win this because it’s strength based and he’s strong.

Lydia’s first to apply some weight and she picks Graham as her first victim, hoping the others will follow suit and try to knock him out.
Margie’s next and she picks… Brenda! She says sorry to Brenda and Brenda tells her to have another cheese sandwich.

Kasey’s next and she’s going after the eliminated contestants, look after the proper final five. She picks Bek.
Graham then picks Lydia back, to try and just stay square with everyone.

Bek’s turn. She gives it back to Kasey! Bek’s still a little miffed at being sent home before, but she has a smile on her face while saying.

Back to Lydia. She’s going purely alphabetical, she’s going for Bek! Bek has a laugh and says it’s Rebekah, thankyou! Thought they were friends? It’s just a game, and I know you can do it, etc!

Margie’s next target is Brenda again because she can tell Brenda’s not going to stick around for long.
Kasey goes for Lydia next. Lydia says she’s a big girl and she can take it. Both Brenda and Lydia are holding 20kg already.

Graham eeny-meeny-miney-mo’s and picks Bek. Pick on Bek day!

Bek sees Lydia trying to point at someone but Bek says not to bother, the weight’s going to her again!
Bek is privately baffled that nobody is targeting Lydia and Margie, the top two players. Everyone thinks Lydia will win so why is nobody targeting her?

Brenda chooses Margie! Brenda’s obviously not much longer for this game though…

Lydia’s turn again. Alphabetical, Brenda! Brenda gives up before the trainers even put the weights on her back.

Margie’s next. She goes Graham because he’s strong. What are you doing, Margie? Stick to the plan!

Kasey’s picking Bek again because she knows Bek will pick Kasey again. Bek confirms she certainly will be now!
Bek’s up to 40kg on her weight bar.
Graham repays the 10kg to Margie.
Bek repays the 10kg to Kasey who then has to drop her bar. Awww!

Lydia’s back to alphabetical. Since Kasey’s out the next one is Graham.
Uhhh. G is before K in the alphabet anyway, you dumbass.

Graham goes for Lydia once more. Three people are on 40kg. Lydia, Graham and Bek.

Then Bek puts another 10kg on Graham. He doesn’t seem too fussed just yet though!

Margie has to drop out of the challenge because she can’t keep holding it around the bar or she’ll pop her shoulder out again.
She’s disappointed because she feels she’s the strongest and would have won, but for her bung shoulder.

Lydia puts some weight on Graham next to see how much he can actually take. He’s starting to struggle a bit but he’s going to keep pushing, he says.

And then Graham chooses Lydia again. And Bek adds some more weight to Graham. 70kg, Graham’s up to. 70!

Lydia then picks Graham again and… Graham’s out. His shoulder is killing him and he can’t keep going. Steve’s a bit disappointed and thinks Graham still needs to do a lot of toughening up in his head.

Lydia and Bek will now go head to head. Add 10kg, tit for tat, see who can last longer.

But Bek bows out not longer after and Lydia finally wins. She’s feeling great as a result, too.

Nobody else wanted Lydia to win, Bek says, so she was more disappointed in that.

So who is Lydia going to penalise with the 1kg weight penalty? Everyone’s very worried it’ll be lumped on them.

Sunday at 6.30… DAMN IT.

Michelle unleashes her secret weapon at home… it’s Hamish? Hamish is going to do her Last Chance Training? Tiff is flabbergasted almost as much as me!
Graham has nuts beside his bed to nibble on and Steve is fuming.
And a “star performer” will be out of the competition for good as a result of the weigh in, supposedly. So someone other than Graham will be going home, then?
