TBL 7×50 – Short episodes are delightful. Even filled with sweaty treadmill antics!
Previously on The Biggest Loser the Eliminated Contestants invaded the house.
Lisa and Simon have already won passes to the all important weigh in, the remaining six now must battle it out for the remaining three passes.
Tonight a marathon on the treadmills with a brainy testing system involved. And it’s only a half hour of show tonight!
And then an hour of Bondi Vet! *bliss*
Mish says the Final Five should be the fittest in the house and now it’s time for them to prove it.
She has cardboard cutouts of Lisa and Simon and tells them they’ve got passes to the weigh in, though they’re not back in yet. They got those passes with a 10km spinbike competition. Lisa finished in 12 minutes 32 seconds and Simon finished in 12 minutes 20 seconds.
Time for the remaining contestants to go hard on the spinbikes.
Mish says the returning contestants have a fire in their belly but so do they!
Michelle’s determined to prove she can win at this after having beaten Luke at an earlier spinbike challenge. She says the first couple of kilometres are pretty easy, but then as the fatigue and pain starts to set in you’ve got to get your brain in line. You can rest when you get to the 10km mark!
Mish, who is calling Michelle Mish as well, says Michelle gets her head down and goes for it on the spinbike. Unstoppable.
Michelle comes in at 12 minutes 8 seconds. Beating Lisa, beating Simon and even beating Margie. Margie does come in at 12 minutes and 14 seconds too, which is ahead of Simon still.
Graham does it in 12 minutes 37 seconds, which Mish is very impressed by since he’s the biggest guy still in the house.
Alex’s time is almost 14 minutes and Kasey’s another 20 seconds behind.
Mish knows they not only have to maintain their efforts but step it up above the returning contestants efforts, etc.
Margie asks if it’s normal to feel a bit flat since the eliminated contestants returned? Mish says it’s very normal to feel that way, but this is their test. Their challenge is to overcome it.
Shannan’s got his peoples out in the outside gym in some wet weather. He’s looking to train their minds today, he says. Think it might be too late for some of them!
Hamish is standing up the back looking glum. Shannan asks him what’s wrong? Sick. Sick. Flu. Sick. Shannan asks if he thinks that’s going to cut it on the scales? They’ll just let him through because he has a cold? Shannan still trains when he has a cold as do the other trainers.
Well then they’re silly because your body needs the energy for recovery, not exercise. :-P
Shannan says a cold doesn’t make you cry and it doesn’t stop you training.
Hamish walks out of the gym while Shannan’s getting the session set up. Hamish is in tears and he says he’s letting it all get to him. Is it just the cold?
Wasn’t it good to see Michelle again? She’d want him to be training to try and get back into Camp.
Get into training. Jacket off, let’s go!
Shannan’s got a huge circuit set up for all of them but some of them are working out harder than others. Ryan’s doing the stairs outside at an absolute snail’s pace, Brenda’s doing some stepping exercise like she’s a delicate princess and then the weights equally weakly.
And after that short session they’re all called up to the big gym where some treadmills are set up in a row. Hayley’s there, so it’s obviously not another training session.
Hayley reminds them they’re fighting for weigh in passes, with Simon and Lisa already having a pass each. Six of them remain and are fighting for three remaining passes.
Today’s challenge involves their brains, specifically their nutritional knowledge.
The treadmills will start at a leisurely 4km/hr. A series of True and False questions will then follow. Get the answers right and the treadmill stays the same speed. Get it wrong and the speed is increased by 1km/hr.
Mass groan from the contestants!
Ryan says him and running don’t go well together, he’s only just started doing it. So he’s not confident.
The prize for the last man or woman standing is a weigh in pass. Only one today.
Lydia’s just relieved it’s not spinbikes this time.
True or False!
A 120 gram serving of coleslaw has more calories than a caesar salad?
False!
Quite a few wrong on the very first question. Oh dear.
Two weet-bix have less calories than two poached eggs? True!
Only Ryan gets that one wrong, making two increases for him already.
A whole raw potato triples in calories when fried up into chips? FALSE!
Everyone gets that wrong. Silly people.
It quadruples, Hayley informs them. Crazy!
Alex’s bio age was 75 years old when he entered Camp Biggest Loser? False.
Only Hamish gets that wrong.
1 tablespoon of olive oil has more fat than 1 tablespoon of butter? True!
Ryan doesn’t even try to increase the speed, just steps off the treadmill. Quitter.
Lydia’s on 5km/hr, Shane’s on 6, Bek’s on 7 and Brenda and Hamish are on 8.
Tomato is a vegetable? False. It’s a fruit ya fruits!
Brenda gets that wrong.
O-Positive is the most common blood type? True.
They all get it wrong. That’s an easy one to trip up on as people usually think O-Negative must be the more prevalent but it’s actually just the most useful one for donations as it doesn’t require blood type matching for transfusions!
A yoghurt coated muesli bar has more calories than a chocolate chip muesli bar? True!
Totally buying me some choc chip muesli bars!
Ryan weighed in at 231kg? False. Hamish gets that wrong too. He’s now up to 10km/hr. He’s struggling to keep his breathing in check and needs to blow his nose, he tells us.
White rice has more carbs than pasta? True!
Milk chocolate has more calories than carob per weight? False. Same calories per weight.
Hamish finally calls it quits. Only two chances left, Michelle says he’s going to have to work really hard to get one of those passes.
Pumpkin has more fibre than sweet potato? False.
Brenda’s struggling a lot as the speed gets ratcheted up again. Not sure she’ll make it through another question, right or wrong.
Watermelon is more than 90% water? True!
But Brenda’s stopped already.
Peanut butter has a high cholesterol count? False.
Bek’s out before the question is done, she says it was that or fall off the back.
Lydia knew the answer to that one because she used to eat peanut butter with ice cream. Interesting combination!
At the first weigh in the combined weight of this year’s contestants was more than 2500kg? False.
After two weeks of giving up smoking your risk of a heart attack begins to drop. True!
Sparkling mineral water has more calories than tap water? False! It doesn’t have any calories you idiots. They both answer True.
Fried rice has 14 times more fat than steamed rice? True!? Yikes!
But Shane finally bows out and Lydia’s the winner. So she’s got a pass into the weigh in. Oooh, chance to get straight back in!
Graham will be happy…
Still two more passes up for grabs. And tomorrow they face their toughest challenge yet!
Tomorrow night the eliminated contestants are put through their paces by Shannan again.
Steve takes the remaining contestants for a pool based workout and then challenges them to a series of competitions. Including a pushup race against Graham that has Kasey admitting she was looking at Steve over Graham!
Michelle and Hamish are chatting a bit before the challenge and both say they love the other. And then they kiss! Awkwardly!
Then The Biggest Loser Iron Man kicks off. I assume ARC Reactors are considered cheating?
