TBL 7×41 – Tire Challenges Are Tiring.
Previously on The Biggest Loser Lisa went on The Walk and claimed Mish all to herself for the rest of the week.
But only has her trainer. :-(
Michelle dominated at Temptation and now has an extra Immunity to give away tonight.
Shannan will catch up with James on the outside to see how he’s travelling since leaving the show.
Then the weekly challenge kicks off. It looks very… TIRING.
Michelle says she could have stopped after two mouthfuls of the V8 Diesel cake, she was so full. But it’s her last cake.
So who’ll she be giving the Immunity to? It’s a tough choice… Kasey!
They’re good friends, Michelle says and she knows they have to stick together if they’re going to get through to later weeks.
Hayley gives an ominous warning to Michelle – if you gain weight at weigh in then you lose the Immunity!
Michelle tells us that Lydia taking in 600 calories at Temptation means she might end up below the Yellow Line and if it happens her and Kasey will definitely take advantage of that situation.
Red Team are sitting in Loser Lounge discussing the Temptation afterwards, all agreeing it was the hardest one so far. How’s Lydia feeling? Like she’s going home. Margie tells her she’s not but Lydia’s really feeling the pressure this week.
She’s regretting playing at Temptation. There’s less spots above the Yellow Line and she’s got the extra calories in.
Lydia tells us that Kasey and Michelle now have “a massive amount of power” and that people are aware of that. Then back in the Lounge Lydia’s talking like Michelle’s playing the game and there to win and so on.
Codswallop. You know full well that Kasey and Michelle are next on the hit list of Red and Black. They’re covering their arses from you and your conniving cohorts.
She’s surprised Michelle would go so hard at Temptation and she’s disappointed she didn’t have the bravery to go that hard. Or wasn’t that stupid!
Tiff’s greeting her girls in the big gym and she can tell right away that they’re looking pretty guilty. They explain the Temptation and how it was for two Immunities and Tiff immediately asks Michelle, who has the guiltiest looking face EVER, how much she ate?
Just one piece of cake worth 850 calories.
But did she get Immunity? Yes. Yay! Tiff is excited for them. She wants them to be there as long as possible and she knows they’re fit enough to work off the calories now.
Michelle says the whole time she was eating it she was remembering the chocolate biscuit cake they made at her house. It’s a chocolate cake with chocolate biscuits and whipped cream on top!
Tiff asks her if it tasted different this time? Michelle says it did taste nice, no lie, but she felt sick after eating it.
So today they’ve got a lot of work to do, Tiffiny knows. But they’re not leaving until she’s burned off the 850 calories!
Michelle brings the sick bag to the treadmill right from the start. Just in case. She’s not feeling good before she’s even really started so she’s thinking it might come to that.
They start out pretty easy but Tiff gets them to push hard in bursts. Kasey’s aiming for 850 calories as well just to show Michelle how thankful she is of the Immunity. She’s never burned 850 in a session before so that’s going to be some good motivation.
100 down. Michelle’s off to burn another 100 on the spinbike while Tiff does some boxing and burpies with Kasey in another part of the dojang.
Kasey thinks if her and Michelle stick together they can make it right through to Finale, so long as they have each other’s backs.
They’re up to 200 calories in over 20 minutes. Tiff says it’s hard, isn’t it, burning off so many?
Michelle tells us that having a full stomach and working out really showed how much of a burden it puts on your body when trying to digest it and process it.
She’s walking on the treadmill with a weight bar over her shoulders and has to stop for a moment. Tiff asks her if she needs the sick bag and Michelle says not yet. But she tells us she was feeling very weak and tired.
She wants to reach 850 calories but she’s not sure she’s physically able to do it.
Alex and Graham are off in the outside gym with Commando Steve. Alex confesses he had a crack at the double Immunity. Steve says that doing the math that means Michelle and Kasey are safe and either a Black or a Red will have to go home. Alex says he’s hoping it’s a Red!
Then, speak of the devil(s), Margie and Lydia turn up to beg for training with Commando Steve. They ask him if he has room for two awesome chicks? They know he’s the man! And they’ve got calories to burn! And they’ve been abandoned by their trainer. Awww!
Steve, proving he has a heart, says they can come train with him. Steve tells us he won’t turn people down so long as they’re prepared to give it their all.
Lydia tells us 600 calories is hard to work off. It’s a good hard hour of training and that’s just to catch up to par while everyone else is then that hour ahead of you.
Steve adds all the calories up and says it’s 900 calories to burn off. So they’re going to get flogged!
Lydia says it wiped the smile of her face and the skin off her elbows.
Steve’s got them running sprints from one end of the basketball court to the other. Looks a bit damp up the far end, hopefully nobody takes a tumble!
Back at White Team training Michelle’s feeling like she’s given in by eating that cake and was going back to the old Michelle.
Michelle sobs to Tiff that she’s glad she got Immunity but she feels like shit.
Why? Because she gave in to Temptation, weepity!
Tiff tells her she’s proud of Michelle. She made the smart decision by taking part. She’s resisted for eight weeks and one piece of cake doesn’t undo all that work.
Tiff doesn’t want her girls to have guilt associated with food. She wants them to know you can have a bit of cake every now and then and so long as the healthy base of food and exercise is there it’s not a problem.
Eating ALL the cake is probably still out…
Michelle says she’s just panicking like an idiot. Tiff tells her not to panic. Let’s get back to it.
Michelle tells us it was really difficult but she wants to keep working till she gets it done.
Tiff calls for a calorie check and it’s at 849! Bit more running and there goes the last calorie of the cake. Now she’ll be able to sleep tonight, Michelle says.
Safe for another week, Tiff says. You can have your cake and you can eat it too! Just not every day, okay?
Lisa and Mish training session! Mish says it couldn’t’ve happened at a better time, this one on one thing. Lisa’s had a tough couple of weeks and so if they’re going to get a great result this week more one on one time is critical.
Lisa wants to see how far she can go this week.
Mish says Lisa doesn’t need Immunity. “You’ve got me!”
Lisa was considering going home at the start of the week but now, in the middle of this training session, she wants to stay and bring on the fight.
Now… SHANNANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!! YAY!
He says the Blue Team on the outside has his full support now he’s not needing to be at Camp all the time.
James was the first to leave Camp Biggest Loser after accepting $30,000 on winning a Temptation. He was only there for just under a week, all told.
So Shannan is very concerned that James will have continued his old habits.
We catch up with James as he’s in the middle of a tough workout with his PT at a Fitness First gym.
Shannan sneaks in between the machines behind James as he finishes a set and just stands there as James is catching his breath. Then James looks around, presumably as his PT can’t stop looking at Shannan, and James bursts out laughing at seeing Shannan looming over his shoulder.
James is looking FANTASTIC. You know, considering where he started. He’s still a solid guy but he’s lost a huge amount of weight. Shannan says he’s lost five chins! James laughs and says pretty much, yeah. He’s getting there!
James said he made Shannan a promise that he’d get it done. Shannan then introduces himself to James’ trainer.
When he left everyone was doubting he could do it on the outside but James said he’d promised Shannan and his friends and teammates. This needed to happen and he’s been making it happen.
Shannan says the answer is pretty clear! James says the accountability of those promises was the kick in the pants he needed.
He’s lost 33.5kg or thereabouts so far. He’s just over 100kg now, down from the near 140kg he was at the start.
Now Shannan’s going to put James through a kickass workout as well to see how well his new body is working.
He gets him on the cross trainer to start and after he finishes the first interval James says it was easy. Shannan says well put it on 10 then, smarty!
James gets the cross trainer up to 210 strokes a minute. He was struggling to get to 160 back at Camp, Shannan says.
Then the big test. Shannan asks James to take his shirt off to see the progress. It’s a bit intimidating, doing it in the middle of his gym, but he doesn’t hesitate and the results are plain. He’s still clearly overweight but it’s not the ridiculous horror show it was before the show.
Though his upper body looks a bit… weird. It’s like he’s wearing a corset. But he’s naked? Not losing the blubber evenly, it seems.
Does he regret taking the money and leaving? James says parts of him do regret it. Shannan boggles and asks him why? He’s got money in his pocket and he’s looking amazing, what’s to regret?
James regrets that the ride had really only started when he left and he’s sort of sad not to have taken part in that.
Shannan reminds him that Blue Team philosophy is No Regrets! So look him in the eye and tell him he’s got no regrets.
Shannan also tells him that he didn’t let them down. Ultimately what he cares about is their health in the long term. And James has clearly got that well under control.
Crazy how much difference there is between James and some of the other Week One leavers.
Then it’s time to go to James’ house and watch his old audition tape. Usually that’s a solo thing but Shannan’s there to watch, too!
James says it’s almost like looking at a different person’s interview. So much has changed since then. He’s not so sad and defeated now.
Shannan’s stoked to see James’ transformation.
James says he knows everyone was expecting him to fail but he made a promise and he’s kept it.
That he has, well done James!
Time for the weekly challenge and the contestants are filing into… a car spare parts yard thing! Okay?
Margie’s hoping it’s not changing tires or taking apart a car because she’s not good at any of those things. Thus proving she is not actually a lesbian as we all know they know their way around a toolchest. *nod*
Graham’s hoping he might be able to compete properly in this challenge as he’s started to get fitter and lose the weight and can actually keep up with people now.
They’re at “Pick ‘n’ Pay Less” wreckers. And this challenge is going to WRECK THEM, Hayley says. That’s almost as good as my pun, Hayley!
Today’s challenge will require strength, accuracy and a lot of patience. Kasey immediately announces she’s out!
What can you find in abundance at a wreckers? TIRES! Lots and lots of them. And that’s what the challenge today revolves around.
Margie loves tires. She’s done lots of training sessions with them so she’s quite fine with them.
There’s a stack of tires for each contestant at one end of the yard. Each contestant has five poles. Stack ten tires onto the first pole. Then take them back off and stack them onto the second pole. Rinse, lather, repeat till you get to the fifth and final pole.
FUN TIMES!
But wait, there’s more! Once you get to the fifth pole you’re only halfway through. Turn around and come back via the same method.
Kasey says her patience is going to get a real workout today!
Hayley says she wouldn’t want to make it too easy for them. So the poles have all been tailored to their individual heights. They’re all just tall enough to be just out of their reach.
So they’ll allll have to stretch.
What are they playing for? And what are they playing to avoid? The winner of the challenge will receive a 1kg weight advantage and the loser will receive a 1kg weight disadvantage.
Lydia’s fine with getting dirty. Margie’s okay with it. Doesn’t want to get dirt under her fingernails but she’s cool with it.
Lisa knows it’s super important not to come last. She might only lose 500 grams and a 1kg penalty means she technically has a gain!
Michelle’s worried she might get the penalty since if she gains weight she loses Immunity. Not sure the penalty would count for that though? She technically didn’t put on weight, it’s a penalty. Hmm.
Graham reckons he’s in with a chance, though he knows Lydia and Margie are likely to give it a good shake. But he’s going to give it a shot!
Pretty much everyone wants to win to try and be safe – or ensure other people aren’t safe!
Margie’s plan is to… Well, put the tires on the pole. Graham’s plan is to not give up. That’s probably a more inspiring plan.
Alex has a look around and everyone else is carrying two tires to the pole while he’s only doing one. He thinks he may have made a mistake. I’m not sure he has, steady effort is likely to win this race.
Margie says the tires are 5-7kg each and it’s not too hard to get them onto the pole and then back off again.
Lisa and Alex are both struggling a lot to get the tires off their first pole while Lydia and Margie are both almost on to stacking the tires on the second pole!
There’s tires going everywhere! People are letting their tires roll off elsewhere and then stealing other people’s tires instead. The producers obviously didn’t think this through too well, did they?
Margie, Lydia and Graham are fighting for first place while Michelle is in the middle somewhere with Alex while Kasey is fighting with Lisa in an effort not to come last, says Michelle.
Margie’s in the lead, Hayley says, who has just got to her fifth pole. Graham’s behind but not by much. He says this challenge suits him well with his improved cardio.
Lisa’s finding it really hard and says she’s thinking she’s over it, done, doesn’t want to do it anymore!
Lydia gets whacked in the face a couple of times by tires she lets slip which is building her frustration a bit!
Margie gets to her last pole before Graham, but Graham isn’t giving up. He’s only a pole behind and still trying to keep up just in case Margie makes a mistake, then he’ll swoop!
Margie says she was so out of shape at the start that she couldn’t even run a metre, had no neck and so on. But so much has changed since then. And if she’s able to do this now, at her current weight, imagine what she’ll be like when she’s 30kg less! She’ll be a machiiiine, she says.
Then Hayley announces Margie has indeed won the challenge!
While she’s proud of herself she knows it’s important to go and support Lisa to try and help her not come last. She can’t help directly by moving tires but she can try and provide pointers and encouragement.
But Lisa’s doubting herself and getting a bit negative, Margie says. Everyone goes through that stage but once Margie lends her some support she starts doing better.
Kasey, Lisa and Michelle are battling not to come last. I guess Alex must be doing okay? Haven’t seen him in a while.
Kasey says Lisa is still a bit behind her but she’s catching up and may just overtake her. She’s getting worried.
Graham manages second place! And he’s very proud of himself because it was always Margie and Lydia at the top and this time he’s in the middle of it.
Alex is down to just needing to stack his tires. He’s surprised himself by doing so well, coming in after Lydia’s done.
Now Lisa has Margie and Lydia encouraging her while Michelle and Kasey have to struggle on their own.
Michelle says it’d be good if Lisa gets the disadvantage because Kasey and Michelle have a lot of power in the voting so she’s hoping to get a chance to send Lisa home if she falls below the Line.
Meanwhile Lisa’s getting some hands on help from Margie and Lydia. Can’t touch them! Naughty! Margie helps flip one over which I’m not sure she’s really allowed to do…
Lisa’s got two more poles to go, not sure how many Michelle and Kasey have.
Lydia says that Lisa’s struggling in her headspace. She didn’t go into the challenge beaten before she started, but once she fell behind she just sort of caves in a bit.
Alex is encouraging Lisa a bit, saying she’s doing a man’s job. Margie gives him a playful slap on the arm and says they’re equal opportunists here!
But Michelle’s finishing stacking the last of her tires while Kasey’s carrying some of her last tires to the stack and they’re done, leaving just Lisa to go. She’s not giving up though. She says Mish has instilled in them that when they start something they finish it. So she’s determined to finish, last or not.
Margie and Lydia are really worried that Lisa might end up going home at Elimination. She’s very supportive of them both and Lydia in particular isn’t sure how she’ll go without Lisa there…
Sunday night! Because Sunday nights are a thing again. Damn it all to hell!
6.30pm to 7.30pm on Sundays. Check your local guides. Etc.
Last Chance Training is a tense affair for Black Team. Steve’s going to have his boys compete against each other in training and it looks like Graham’s going to put in the hard yards!
Also, Shannan! Shannan goes to check in on evictee Luke. Has he kept up the hard work he started in the house? Or has he kept on boozing and making an idiot of himself?
And has Lisa’s one on one week with Mish paid off?
Find out on Sunday SUNDAY Sunday!
