TBL 7×39 – NOODLE CONTEST. Also, manboobs. In mud.

Previously on The Biggest Loser… Simon got eliminated. Awwwwwww.

Tonight the contestants go rock climbing! And acrobatic-ing? Looks like fun.
What doesn’t look fun is Graham’s gruelling workout with Commando Steve out on the muddy paradeground. They’re going to have it out for the umpteenth time tonight. Will Steve finally get through to Graham?

Probably not.

Later the weekly Contest is one of those jump over a pole, duck under a pole, over and over and over things.

But first! Simon and Lisa have an emotional goodbye before Simon heads off into the outside world. Simon tells her it’s the best place for her.

And my PVR’s chucking a wobbly so this could get exciting!

Out in Loser Lounge the remaining contestants are chatting about Simon’s departure and its effect on Lisa. They think they might need to give her a little space to recover.
Lisa comes back in and says Simon’s good. And she’s fine. Margie says she didn’t know Lisa wanted to go home so badly. Lisa says she wants to go home so badly. She works out so hard but doesn’t lose the numbers and she just can’t do it anymore.
Alex tells her not to give up. 200 grams more and she wouldn’t’ve been on the chair anyway.

Who knows what might happen this week, Lydia says. She might turn it around or she might be next to go home anyway.

Fixed my PVR! I know, everyone was panicking there for a minute. You can all breathe again.

Coughcough.

Anyway, Kasey and Alex walk into the dining room later and spot a letter on the PLINTH OF LETTERS.

It’s not very exciting, it’s just announcing they’re training off-site. Except for Graham. Steve has something special in mind for him. Uhoh!

Tiff and Mish are at the climbing centre waiting for their contestants. Mish is very worried that Lisa won’t be there but, of course, she is. Hooray!
Tiff’s obviously very happy for Mish as well. Mish gives Lisa a big hug as they approach.

This training session is about lightening the load. Too much emotional stuff going on, too much drama, time to have some fun… while still getting a workout.

Alex, Lydia and Kasey are with Tiff. Margie, Lisa and Michelle are with Mish.

Sydney Trapeze School. “Learn To Fly”!

I’m not going to lie, it looks like the exact same place the Excess Baggage guys went to. And given that they’re produced by the same company I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.

As they get inside there’s some trapeze guys flipping out and having fun.

Today they’ll be doing flying trapeze, Frank the trapeze man says.
Margie’s deathly afraid of heights, she says.

Mish asks them if they’re ready to go and Margie says yep, let’s do it, it’s been nice knowing you all!
To her credit she’s the first one up the ladder to the trapeze thing. No hesitation going up the ladder.
But when she gets to the top platform she confesses to Mish that she’s freaking out. She’s not sure she can do it. She likes to think she’s brave but she also doesn’t want to die!

Mish tells her she doesn’t even need to overthink this. She just has to grab the bar and let go when they tell her to.
Margie leans out while Frank grabs her harness so she can get a hand on the bar. Then it’s time to put her other hand on the bar and Margie’s telling Frank not to let her go, don’t let go!

She’s leaning out a long way to hold the bar and Frank’s getting her ready. Jump off Margie, jump off! She sort of falls off more than leaps but she does go through with it!
She calls out that her shoulder’s hurting, she needs to let go. They get her into the right spot of her swing to let go and she drops off and into the net safely with a loud scream.

Michelle’s up next and she has a bit of trouble but not as much as Margie. She manages a small leap off and does her swinging back and forth with a laugh. She says it’s been years since she’s felt that good about herself and that happy.

Exercise should be fun, Tiff says. There’s lots of things you can do to burn calories. She’s got Kasey, Lydia and Alex at a rock climbing centre.
Alex says the highest thing he’s ever climbed would be a chair in his house to change a lightbulb!

Lydia says it’s a bit daunting looking up the wall and realising you might have to climb to the top!
As she gets a few metres into her ascent she calls down to the expert guy that she doesn’t feel like the foothold she’s resting on will hold her weight. It will, of course!
With some encouragement from Tiff climbing beside her and the people down on the ground Lydia eventually manages to get all the way to the top of the wall and she’s stoked to make it.

Kasey says Lydia made it look easy but it was actually a lot harder than she thought it would be. Nevertheless she’s doing quite well and also makes it to the top of the wall.
Tiff says if she can climb this wall she can get back on her horse. Kasey says she might be over horses, more rock climbing!
She’s 100 grams off riding her horse, apparently.

Back at trapeze Lisa’s having her turn up the ladder. She looks quite nervous. Mish tells her to soak up the nervous, this is the new Lisa. Take all the sadness and leave it up on the platform.
Lisa’s freaking out about where the bar is, Frank tells her he’ll swing it up once she’s in the right spot but once it’s in the right spot she quickly grabs hold and starts swinging.

She actually has more trouble letting go, keeps missing the “HEP!” But eventually she’s down and in the net safely. Will they also go for a catch as the Excess Baggage guys did?

Back at rock climbing Alex is having a lot of “I can’t” moments. Falls off at one point. But he’s not giving up, he’s still trying to climb up the wall with advice from the expert peoples.

After an ad break Tiff’s still clambering up the wall like a monkey while Alex moans and groans about being too weak. Trying to think like Spiderman!
The expert climber guy has to climb up at one point to give Alex some more chalk for his hands. He’s still moaning like crazy. But he gets to the top and has a lot more respect for rock climbers. And Spiderman!

Back at Camp it’s raining. And Steve’s going to try and tap into the anger he saw in Graham on the scales. He’s never felt anger like that in his life, he tells Steve. He says he’s not a cranky man but Steve thinks it’s not about being cranky.
Graham says he’d busted his guts the last week as he wanted to show Steve and himself that he could get Biggest Loser of the Week.
Steve wants him to take that anger and put it into his training. And today Graham won’t be training on his own. Steve’s going to train right alongside him for the whole session.

First the warm up is climbing the stairs out front a couple of times. Graham’s doing it one step at a time but Steve wants to push him harder. Every second step, come on!

Then it’s out on the paradeground itself for pushups and back arches. Steve wants to push Graham to the breaking point, try and get that anger to show again, get him to show some emotion. Steve seems a lot more fired up than Graham’s ever been!

Now it’s time for commando crawling across the paradeground. Manboobs flopping out of his singlet. Mud caked over him.

Steve quizzes him about his weightloss so far and how much he has to go. He’s got more to go than he’s lost so far. Steve asks him what it’ll take to get him fired up and working hard enough to make that happen? Graham says he has to keep pushing himself to his limits. Steve says he’s got to take that anger he felt on the scales and put it into every single training session this week.

Steve grabs the back of Graham’s neck and pulls their heads together and Steve gets him to look him in the eyes. Um, I was just kidding about that kiss, Steve…

Steve tells Graham he needs him to do it. Graham tells us making Commando happy means everything to him. They share another manly embrace in front of the doors of Camp while Steve whispers… something… into Graham’s ear.

Now it’s time for The Contest! In the nondescript shed again this week.
There’s a pillar with yellow noodles sticking out of it. One high, one low. As the pillar spins around and around you have to jump over the low noodle and duck under the high noodle.

The longer you last, the faster it spins. So more jumping and ducking and jumping and ducking the longer you stay in there.

Winning gets you a trip on The Walk. Which is a bit pointless, isn’t it? You get a power over a contestant who can then refuse to follow whatever it is, get a 2kg penalty and lose enough to be safe anyway. HA!

4 Champions, Hayley says. Which means 3 have to sit out?
Michelle gets to pick the champions as she was the Biggest Loser of the Week. So she selects herself, naturally, plus Graham, Lisa and Kasey.

Michelle didn’t want Margie or Lisa to have a shot at winning so she sat them out. She’s close to Kasey so she wanted one of them to have the power. And Graham’s an obvious choice.

The faceoff between two of the champions is being selected by picking a ball out of a bag and funnily enough Kasey draws out a red ball, followed by Michelle drawing a red ball, so they face off while Lisa and Graham face off in the second round.

Michelle and Kasey, any last words for each other? Michelle says she’s just trying not to laugh. Kasey says she’s there to compete, no friendships in the contest!
Kasey’s worried because she’s not very coordinated. Lydia thinks Kasey’s likely to break first because she’s unco. So it seems everyone knows!

They make it through the first period okay and then Hayley decides it’s time to bump the speed up. More jumping and ducking!

Margie wants Kasey to win to boost her confidence a bit.

Hayley says Kasey’s getting a bit close to the low one and coordination is the key. “Yeah, I don’t have any of that!” Everyone has a good laugh at her.

Time to bump the sped up some more!

They’ve got little cameras above the low noodle and below the high noodle so we can watch as it spins past them. Funny stuff. Around and around and arounddddd…

More speed!

Kasey’s getting a bit out of breath and isn’t sure how much longer she can keep going and in the end she doesn’t have to go much longer. Michelle packs it in and gets hit by both noodles as they go round.
Kasey’s stoked to have beaten Michelle at something! Lydia’s pleased to see Kasey win at something too. She’s struggled at times and that should help her a lot.

Graham and Lisa’s turn.
Graham says he’s going to push as hard as he can, he’s determined to do better than he has in past contests.

He’s a bit under the gun since he’s a really tall guy making him have to squat down a lot to get under the high bar. On the other hand Lisa is quite short, making it a lot more strenuous to jump up over the low noodle each time.

Graham’s in the zone, squatting down and getting himself into position ready to jump then getting ready to squat, over and over. He might be in this!

Margie says she feels the need, the need for speed! Lisa tells her to shut up and Hayley asks where’s the friendship now and Lisa retorts it’s singles now, hasn’t she heard?

Then Hayley agrees to bump the speed up some more. Graham’s still soldiering on and Lisa’s having as many close calls as he is.
But he’s not ducking quite enough at the start of the speed up and clips the arm a couple of times. Not enough to knock it off though!

Everyone’s quite amazed by how well Graham’s doing and they’re both getting encouragement and advice from the sidelines.

Graham’s struggling a lot but he’s confident he can keep going some more. Lisa’s starting to clip them occasionally but finally Graham can’t make the leap over the low arm and lets it hit him. Then gets on his hands and knees panting for a bit.
Graham says he’s proud of what he achieved, even though Lisa won.

Now Lisa versus Kasey!

Then Hayley announces they’ve still not hit the max speed on the machine. After they’re knackered from the first round I don’t think they’ll get there this time, either?

Ready, steady, spaghetti!

Kasey’s nervous, going up against later but she’s also looking forward to going on The Walk if she wins.

They’re speeding the pillar up quicker this time. Probably going to disadvantage unco Kasey more than Lisa, though Kasey’s had more recovery time…

But as we come back from an ad break Kasey’s unco catches up with her and she steps onto the noodle as it goes past. Awwww.

Red Team are all quite happy with the way their “plan” is working out.

Kasey says her attention wandered for a second and that was that.
Hayley thinks Lisa was looking strong and could have kept going all day. Want another go? Lisa laughs and says sure, let’s go!

But they’re not doing that, Lisa will be going for The Walk now.

Back to Camp with everyone else. Off you go, Lisa!

They seem to have fit some ultraviolet lights in part of the tunnel on the way to the walk since her shoes are glowing so bright!

Power is important, never been more important now it’s down to 7 people, etc etc.

Three boxes, again. Food, Training, Mystery. Again.

Power of The Walk could hinder an opponent, big decision, rah rah. Hurry up and pick the Mystery box already!

Hayley says the one time someone didn’t pick Mystery was Lydia and the boys had to eat orange food for a week.

Come onnnn, pick Mystery, lump it on Alex again, I need a good laugh!

Lisa’s going to go with Mystery, hooray!

The piece of paper says something about choosing one contestant to have exclusive access… but I can’t make any more of it out.

And we’re not going to find out what it is until tomorrow night, of course.
Also tomorrow night, Temptation. With two (or more?) Immunity passes up for grabs it looks like Margie at least will be making a play for it.

Who else will be tempted?
