TBL 7×36 – Marathon-ish challenge leads to a variety of drama llama. Ding dong!
Previously on The Biggest Loser Alex was supposed to be chained to Graham but he chucked a tantrum and refused to do it.
Alex has since received… a 2kg weight disadvantage at weigh in. Pfffft.
Temptation this week is at the Sushi Train restaurant and it’s down to Margie and Graham competing for Immunity.
Tonight we find out if either of them manage to find it or if they both give up and let Michelle keep her useless Immunity.
But not before Margie and Simon have some harsh words to each other as the Temptation gets quite tense.
Later The Contest kicks off and it’s going to leave some contestants much worse for wear.
But as we get back to Sushi Train there’s 11 plates left. And then Margie turns her plate over to reveal. IMMUNITY!
632 calories consumed, so she’s not too bad off.
Graham’s then still going ahead to eat his eel nagiri to see if his plate has a prize under it. Because apparently some crappy prize is worth eating eel for?
Graham’s “scared bumless” and hoping he likes eel.
Nope. NOPE. He starts turning red and looks like he’s in pain.
Margie gets the giggles and says she felt really bad about it but… she can’t stop laughing.
Graham says it might take a while to get through this.
Kasey’s trying to get Margie to stop laughing but not having much luck.
Graham says he’s never tried eel before and Margie giggles and asks him if he’d try it again?
Simon’s starting to get a bit annoyed, Kasey says. Simon tells us that Graham was struggling and Margie was pushing things much too far.
What’s it taste like, Margie asks? She’s never had it before. Like chicken?
Graham nearly barfs as she says that. Simon tells her to shut up. Just shut up, just once!
Margie tells him to watch his tone. “Know your place, Simon.” Simon says he knows his place, she needs to know hers. Margie says under her breath that he better watch himself.
Hayley, meanwhile, is trying to encourage Graham to get it finished and Margie congratulates him when he finishes.
And after all that, what’s Graham won?
NOTHING! Well done.
Simon and Margie are both saying not to talk like that to the other again.
They’ve not seen eye to eye for a while.
Simon thinks Margie puts on a big brave front but really she just needs to take a chill pill.
Margie thinks Simon is just pissed he didn’t win Immunity.
Margie’s very nervous now. She did win Immunity but Mish isn’t a fan of Temptation. At all.
Lydia and Margie both have to tell Mish about Temptation. Margie looks particularly guilty.
Margie explains Temptation. She says she took Temptation so that neither Simon nor Graham would get it. But she ended up having to eat 626 calories, she says. And won Immunity.
Mish FLIPS OUT. SHE DID WHAT?! You took Temptation and… she’s okay with it. Really! Mish was just messing with her. Margie’s in tears and freaking out still.
Mish isn’t too worried. It’s sushi, it’s good for you and it wasn’t too much.
She’s still going to make her work it off, of course.
Mish sets Lydia and Margie on a program to work off a bunch of calories. She’s taking Lisa off by herself for a solo session. Mish wants to show Lisa how strong she’s become. Release the inner mongrel!
Eight weeks ago Lisa didn’t even have the strength to get up off the couch. She was lost, Mish says. Now she’s pushing Mish around the boxing ring. She’s changed, Mish says.
Lisa says it’s been a long time since anyone’s believed in her. And it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Gotta keep pushing on.
She hasn’t dealt with things in the past, like her son’s death, because it was just too hard.
Mish says Lisa hasn’t even been able to say his name without breaking into tears, but now she’s able to talk about it. She didn’t talk about it for four years.
Mish is excited for her to go back home and have that inner strength to move forward.
Steve’s got his boys training in the shed, as usual. They’re all warming up when he arrives. And now Steve gets to find out what’s happened while he and Graham were in Carcour.
Alex tells him about the shackling together thing he was supposed to do. Alex was initially shackled to the cardboard cutout.
Alex couldn’t handle being chained up to a cardboard cutout. He held out till Graham got back. Steve’s working through it.
Graham’s asked if he was okay with the shackling thing and he says he was going to do it, yes.
Alex then announces his 2kg penalty. Spat the dummy because he didn’t want to be chained to Graham and instead of just dealing with it, he lost his shit. Why?
Alex needs to be independent, needs to do his own thing, it’s the way he is.
Steve then points out that’s why he ended up at Camp in the first place. Steve even calls him a goose!
Alex is getting fired up and slams the spinbike. Steve’s not convinced the independence thing is it at all. Why’s he angry? He’s got a 2kg penalty now. How much did he lose last time? 6kg. 4kg after his penalty. Which would put him below the Yellow Line, right?
He had a hissy fit, acted like a child. Alex says he didn’t act like a child, Steve asks him why he couldn’t see it through? Alex says he’s 50 years old, how can he be a child?
So why couldn’t he see it through? Because he wants to train hard and if he’s stuck to someone who doesn’t train hard, what’s he supposed to do?!
Ahh, the real reason! Can’t say it because the guy’s in the room? Steve says he should have stuck it out, proved everyone wrong, maybe even been the motivation Graham needed to get his training done.
Alex says he can’t do it. Why? Can’t. Why? Can’t be chained. Why? Caaaaaaaaaaan’t.
Steve is mystified. What if it had been one of the Red Team girls? NO. No. Why’s it none of Steve’s business, Steve asks? What is it? Why the anxiety and frustration?
He’s claustrophobic. :-(
He can’t even sit in the back of a car if there’s no windows.
Stems from an incident as a kid where he was locked in the boot of a car and ever since then he’s been claustrophobic. Steve says if he’s truly claustrophobic then that’s that, but otherwise he’s just using it as an excuse.
Either way he’s stuck with a 2kg penalty.
Alex says he’s going to beat that penalty. Let’s see, Steve says. He’ll see. Alex says he’ll be there next week, trust him!
Margie’s feeling a bit upset. She’s been feeling a bit flat for a little while and the argument with Simon has seen them be done and dusted. And if he goes up for Elimination he’s getting her vote.
She’s a very sensitive person, she says, and the game is full of pressure.
Simon says this is their first challenge as singles. So I guess it’s a challenge, not a contest tonight.
Whatever.
Weigh in room has been set up as a “super gym” Lydia says. Eight spinbikes, six cross trainers, four rowing machines and two treadmills.
Oof!
First challenge as singles, hello! Hayley says they’ve probably realised that changing their lives is not a sprint but a marathon. And so that’s what they’re doing today! A 42km marathon. It’ll be a race over that distance, but without them even leaving the room. Tricksy!
After 42km one contestant will prove they’re the fittest and most focused and will be crowned the Biggest Loser’s Ultimate Athlete. And they get a trophy and everything!
Kasey says the last time she won a trophy was at pony club. And it was for most improved rider!
But that’s not all! The winner today will also get a 1kg weight advantage at weigh in and a phone call home. Which everyone really, really wants.
Hayley asks Michelle how much she’d like to talk to her family? She’d love to. Is that a reason for her to win today? Yep. She laughs and apologises for never talking much. I guess the producers were hoping for more wordiness in case she makes it further?
Margie would like to talk to her family. And she doesn’t really care too much about the trophy.
Everything okay, Margie? Margie pauses a moment and then wanders off out the door. Put your foot in it much, Hayley?
Mish follows Margie out and checks on her and among the first things out of Margie’s mouth are that she can’t do it anymore and she needs to go. Too much pressure. Mish takes her for a little walk and then a sit down and a chat.
Margie feels like she’s been backed into a corner and she feels vulnerable. She’s going to have pressure on the outside, too, Mish reminds her. But she can deal with it.
It’s just hard, Margie says. Mish gives her a cuddle. Awwww!
Lisa tells us she thinks Margie’s just letting the game get to her too much.
Margie doesn’t know how she’ll get through all the time remaining. This is her test, Mish says. Margie says it’s the game and Mish says to just let the game go.
After an ad break Mish and Margie are back in the weigh in room and Margie says she’s ready to go and Mish says they’re ready but there’s still other things to work out. But we’re good to go!
Margie says she feels exhausted just thinking about the first stage. First stage is a half marathon on the spinbikes. 21km.
Mish says the best way to clear your head and unravel drama is exercise!
Simon says the idea of riding 21km at the start would have sent him into cardiac arrest.
Meanwhile Margie’s in the lead and halfway through the first stage. Michelle’s in fourth, Hayley says. Lydia and Simon in fifth and sixth.
Steve’s in Graham’s ear, talking calmly to him about what’s happening. Heart rate increasing so his body is fatiguing, but only the top six go through so he has to keep going. Pull the people of Carcour out of his pocket and put them beside him and keep going!
Margie’s first to 20km and is still powering hard. Mish says Margie shines in competition. She’s in her element.
And she’s first to 21km and finished.
Second? GRAHAM?! Wow. Lisa’s in third. Tiff is gobsmacked by Graham coming in second.
Michelle in fourth place, Simon in fifth. Fight for sixth, guys!
Lydia’s the final one into the next round.
Alex is determined to finish and hopefully beat Kasey. But Kasey pips him in the end. Those two are out of the running.
Now it’s time for 10km on the cross trainer. First four go through, last two drop out.
Simon’s a lot slower than everyone else, he notices right away.
Mish is in Lydia’s ear for a chat during the cross training bit. Lydia knows she can do it. She can be the best person she wants to be and she deserves to be happy. Etc.
And she loves herself, now.
Mish flails and says she wants to hug her but of course she can’t right now, Lydia’s got a race to finish!
When Mish first met Lydia, some of the things Lydia shared with her were horrific. Lydia couldn’t see anyone wanting to be with her. Mish can’t even imagine what it would feel like, nobody wanting you.
Lydia finishes first, followed by Margie, followed by Lisa, followed by Michelle!
So it’s just Simon and Graham battling it out. They both want to get finished and get it done.
Graham actually manages to come in fifth! And he says he didn’t want to stop without getting the 10km done. Steve’s obviously very proud of Graham doing some really hard work for the first time. Graham says he was buzzing on the inside but he couldn’t do anything, he was too tired.
Simon’s on his last kilometre and he says he’s starting to feel a bit lightheaded. Lisa’s cheering him on from the sideline as he powers through the last stretch.
But he gets it done as well, to much cheering and applause.
And Hayley looks a little worried. Simon says he’s feeling a bit spaced out and dizzy afterwards.
Graham’s not feeling too great either, he’s having a lie down outside. Getting a splitting headache but Steve and Alex are out there checking he’s okay.
Michelle’s also knackered but trying not to make a fuss she calmly walks to the medic who checks her blood pressure and it’s very, very low. The medic has her lying down out the back with Tiff checking on her, asking if she’ll be able to do the next round or… the medic says lets give her a few minutes and see how she’s doing after that.
Can’t help feeling that having them all working out so hard in an enclosed space is maybe not such a great idea? Hmm.
After an ad break Michelle is cleared to compete in the next round, so long as she drinks plenty of water.
Hayley says they’re partway through and three of them have collapsed which shows how far they’re willing to push themselves. Simon, you passed out afterwards. Simon pauses before responding and says he’s alright. Graham responds more quickly and says he’s a bit lightheaded as well but he’s alright.
As Hayley’s setting up for the next stage Simon’s taking a couple of bleary, long blinks, rolls his neck around a bit and then sort of puts his hand up and starts to fall forward. Fortunately, Graham is there to support him and Mish quickly turns to help him down to the floor.
Michelle was looking at him just as he faints and she’s standing there with her hand over her mouth in shock. Lisa’s very concerned as well, not knowing what’s happened.
The medic gets the oxygen mask bag out and straps it onto Simon, then moves his feet up onto a chair to keep them elevated while he (hopefully) recovers.
Michelle’s wondering if they might postpone the contest or even cancel it because of everyone dropping like flies.
Then they bring out the gurney for Simon and take him out. Steve’s holding a saline bag as they’ve already put a drip in him. Steve says he took it to the edge and a little beyond. But he’ll be fine. Some rest, rehydrate, recover, and he’ll be back and ready to compete.
Round Three, meanwhile, is kicking off and it’s an all-girl challenge.
Margie HATES rowing. So she’s maybe not going to go so well.
Mish says this is about more than fitness, now. It’s about who can hold it together in amongst it all.
Michelle thinks she’s in with a chance at beating the Red girls. People have counted her out before and she’s come through so she’s not giving up.
3km down and Margie’s hoping the remaining 3km will go quickly.
Lydia and Margie are leading, Lisa and Michelle in third and fourth.
But then Lydia stops! She needs a break and a regroup to keep going. Margie hollers at her to keep going!
Margie’s also calling encouragement to herself, “Come on Marg!”
And she’s knackered, but she finishes in first place with Lydia just behind.
And they’re both completely spent afterwards, falling off the machines and onto the ground. Mish rushes over to Lydia to check on her. Bends over right in front of the camera. Nice bum, Mish!
Michelle and Lisa are still going!
Margie’s amazed that she got through to the end when she started out not even wanting to be there.
Final round, 5km sprint on the treadmills! Lydia vs Margie.
Extra motivation for them both. The people they love and the reason they’re there will be looking down on them from the weigh in room TVs. That’s just cruel!
Margie’s getting even more emotional and now Lydia’s getting emotional too. WOMEN.
They shake each other’s hands and wish the other good luck before they start. 3, 2, 1, GO!
Both start out slow and steady. Neither wants to go too hard as they’ve already done a huge amount of exercise.
Lydia’s cheating. She has her hands on the sides of the treadmill holding herself up. Margie’s doing it properly. Bah!
They knew the day would come where they’d have to go head to head.
Lydia asks Margie if they want to walk to the 20 minute mark. Steve’s not having that. Asks them why they’ve pushed themselves so hard to now be walking. Got more in the tank? Little bit.
Now Margie’s got her arms on the side of the treadmill for a bit too. Cheating cheating cheating!
Lydia’s just in front towards the end. 700 metres to go. Margie’s put her treadmill up to 12km while Lydia’s still on 8km. She’s going to try and catch up.
Who can push the hardest? Who can ignore the pain and get it done?
They’re down to the final 100 metres as… we break until Monday. Mutter mutter.
At the weigh in sparks are going to fly. Steve’s going to get stuck into Graham on the scales? Uhoh!
Tomorrow night on the Friday episode there’s shenanigans involving food, apparently? Tiff is telling Michelle not to eat anything anyone else gives her. Don’t trust anyone!
Also, Selena’s going to get a makeover to “wow the boys”.
“Wow, how did you lose less than a kilo after leaving the show?!”
