TBL 7×35 – Sushi Train at Sushi Train. SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI! (It’s all icky.)
Previously on The Biggest Loser the contestants were confronted with life size cardboard cutouts of themselves from Day One. And it was awful!
Then they ran 400 metres with the weight they’ve lost strapped to their bodies. Lisa won, getting to go on The Walk.
Tonight the repercussions from The Walk are going to hit home especially hard for Alex. He might even consider leaving? Or possibly actually leave?
Alex is nowhere in sight during the Sushi Train Temptation…
Lisa’s walking through the dank tunnel to get to the location for The Walk as we get going. She’s excited to seeing what power she’s going to get.
Lydia, meanwhile, is off to sit in The Bunker to spy on Lisa. Ugh.
Food, Training and Mystery are the boxes again. Hayley reminds her that they’re competing as Singles now and having power over the game is important.
Yeah yeah, this is the same stuff every week. The power could give them an edge but it could also put a target on your back.
Lisa’s weighing up her options. Food can have a big impact, Training isn’t such a big deal as most of them can do their training on their own now. But Mystery’s a Mystery and not necessarily targeted at someone in particular.
Lisa, of course, goes for Mystery. Why wouldn’t you? Mysteries are fun!
Lisa opens her envelope and starts reading. Then shortly thereafter bursts into laughter.
Oh dear!
Graham’s not waiting in Loser Lounge with everyone else as he’s still off on Secret Men’s Business with Steve. Alex asks Tiff and Mish if he can train with one of them instead but no, Alex and Simon will be training by themselves today. They’re sure they can do well, Steve’s taught them enough now.
Then Lisa comes in and starts relaying the outcome of The Walk.
The Mystery card says she has to choose two individuals to be chained together until weigh in. Erg.
Lisa says she loves it. Mish tells us she’s a bit worried by the glee in Lisa’s face because it’ll come back to bite her.
First thing Lisa thought of was chaining herself to Simon, but that would just be her pleasure. Oh dear!
Second option was Margie and Lydia. “Oh no you di’nt!” Margie says she wouldn’t mind being chained to Mish but Lydia’s not a morning person! Lisa says she has to live with them so that’s out.
So her choice is… Alex and… Hold on a sec. She goes out and grabs the cardboard cutout of Graham. Everyone in the room bursts out laughing. Everyone except for Alex. Lydia also looks a little horrified. In between laughing.
Graham will be back eventually and then he’ll be chained to the real Graham. They have to eat, sleep, train, shower…
How will they even fit in the shower together, Alex asks? “No! No!” How long for? Until weigh in, Lisa confirms.
Alex doesn’t think he can deal with it. Graham works out for 20 minutes and then wanders off.
Alex has only got the cardboard cutout so far, he’s not sure how he’s going to cope with the real thing.
Graham needs some extra motivation, Steve says. So he’s taking him home to Carcour and Graham’s excited.
Steve says Graham’s done pretty well overall but he’ll do well one day and then fall apart for a few days and that’s not going to cut it.
So Steve’s going to have him work out in front of a crowd of his friends and family.
Graham’s hoping he gets to see his Mum and Dad and his Nan. And he comes around a corner with Steve and there’s a couple dozen people there waiting to see him near the fire station. Awwww! Big hug from his Mum.
He announces he’s lost 42.4kg so far and gets a big cheer from the crowd. Quite a few tears in the crowd. Steve reminds him of needing to get to 110kg to do more firey training.
Graham says it’s fantastic to see everyone there to support him. They’re not there to see Steve, they’re there to see him.
Graham’s got the crowd counting out his reps during training. Steve knows Graham respects him but he won’t work as hard as he would with his Mum standing right there. Steve wishes he could pocket the crowd and take them with him everywhere.
Could get some weird looks and I think that’s most of the population of Carcour, so it’d be a ghost town. Not the best idea you’ve ever had, Commando.
Alex, Simon and cardboard Graham head to the gym for a workout and Alex starts out in good spirits but as the training wears on he’s thinking about it more and getting more concerned. He doesn’t know how he’s going to get Graham out of bed at 8am and get him to train as hard as Alex trains. Simon says that hopefully Graham comes back from wherever he’s gone and starts working out even harder than Alex.
Simon says if there’s anything he can do to help? Get rid of the cardboard Graham. Burn it. Accidents happen.
Alex doesn’t know how he’s going to get through it. Graham sweats so much.
Apparently Graham’s nickname back home is Gub? Gubby? Everyone’s calling him Gub. Okay?
Graham’s a volunteer firefighter but he’s not been able to do a lot of the stuff he needs to. He needs to be 110kg maximum. And having his firefighting mates there and the firefighting gear is hopefully going to spur him on.
Graham’s dragging a training dummy up and down the driveway. He’s doing it really tough, he says, but he wasn’t going to give up in front of his friends and family.
Quite a few people are clapping and cheering for him. His Mum calls out she’s proud of him. Awww!
Graham thanks Steve in front of his family and friends for everything he’s done for him. Steve reminds him that he’s the one who’s done the hard work, but he’s got more in him still. Every time it hurts remember your family. This is just the beginning!
The crowd seems confident he can do it. More confident than Graham, in fact!
Then he shares the sweat around a bit with some hugs and kisses to the crowd.
Mish has her ladies training on the spinbikes. She wants to push them hard today as they’ve gone to singles now and it’s important to kick it into a higher gear now.
Mish says to them that she learned two things yesterday – Lisa’s got a lot in the tank, more than she thinks. And she’s been holding out on Mish. Lisa tells us she hasn’t been holding out on her, she wouldn’t dare!
Margie’s determined to push harder than ever after seeing her cardboard cutout yesterday. And they’ve got Mish pushing them, what more could they ask for?
Mish tells us they’re not just going to maintain their level of effort, they’re going to step it up a notch. Because that’s what it takes!
After training the contestants are sitting in Loser Lounge waiting for Graham to come back. He tells them he got to go home and train in front of his friends and family.
Then the Graham cutout falls on Alex, again, apparently. Graham sees it tied to Alex. He’s wondering what’s going on.
Well, The Walk. Tied together. Until weigh in. And Alex is so excited about it.
Alex then announces that he can’t do it. It’s not Graham, he wouldn’t’ve been able to do it attached to anyone. He unhooks himself from the attaching bungee rope thing and apologises to Graham and says he needs his space.
Alex then heads out the door while everyone tries to call him back.
Everyone is gobsmacked. Lisa’s disappointed in Alex, since he didn’t even give it a chance. She’d’ve understood if it had got too much after a day or two.
She follows him out and says she didn’t mean to upset him, she thought he’d be able to take the joke and do okay with it and Alex says he thought he would be okay with it too but it’s too much. It’s making him claustrophobic and everything. And the more he thinks about it the more he realises he can’t do it.
Alex tells us that it was actually because it’s Graham. He likes to work out and Graham really doesn’t. So yes, he lied to spare the guy’s feelings.
Back in the lounge/dining area the rest are discussing it. Margie thinks Alex will go through with it and Lisa says no, he doesn’t seem like he will.
Kasey says her and Michelle got banished from Camp and they didn’t get the option of saying NOPE and going back to Camp. It’s part of the game, gotta deal with it.
Simon says Alex has made the decision that he can’t do it and now he’ll have to deal with whatever consequences there are.
What will the penalty be for refusing to play along? Surely it can’t be anything less than banishment? They can’t just let them get away with ignoring such edicts?
Maybe have him be up for Elimination regardless? Some sort of anti-Immunity?
Next morning Alex comes to Loser Lounge and Margie’s hoping he’ll decide to do the chained up thing.
But nope, Alex still isn’t going to do it. He needs his space and his independence and he’d go crazy if he had to be tied to someone for days.
So… what’s going to happen? Can’t go against the rules, Margie says to us.
Margie tries to convince him that he can handle it, he’s stronger than he thinks. Margie obviously doesn’t want to see Alex give up.
Hayley rocks up at that point. She needs to have a word with Alex. Not going to get attached to Graham? Hayley reminds him of Lisa’s choice at The Walk.
There’ll be repercussions if he doesn’t change his mind. One last chance? Change your mind? Please?
Nope.
The penalty for Alex will be… 2kg weight disadvantage at the next weigh in.
You’re fucking kidding me? What kind of piss weak penalty is that? We’ve seen time and again that teams and individuals can overcome that sort of thing. And now other people will tell them to go fuck themselves if they don’t like the result of The Walk.
Hayley reminds him that it’s singles now and this could result in him being below the Yellow Line and Alex nods and accepts that.
Lydia’s surprised Alex has chosen this route. And if he winds up under the Line she’s much more likely to write his name down because of this.
Margie’s got a very bad feeling about this!
Margie, Simon and Lisa are discussing the outcome in the kitchen afterwards. Margie’s still baffled by Alex’s decision. Lisa’s partly upset about upsetting Alex. But also a bit annoyed that, strategically, two people were going to be disadvantaged by being chained together but only one is going to wear the penalty? So she’s been shortchanged, she feels.
Even Simon thinks he might have to vote for Alex if he does wind up below the Line. Margie reminds us that Alex is in number two position on the leaderboard so he’s very likely to be given the flick if it comes to that.
Time for Sushi Train Temptation. The restaurant is actually just called Sushi Train.
And Alex isn’t there. Everyone else is, but not him. So obviously he’s been ruled out of grabbing Immunity to save himself, which is something, I suppose.
Simon’s not sure if he’ll take part but he lurrrrrrrrrrrves sushi!
Konichiwa, contestants, says Hayley. That’s Japanese for hello! Thanks, Year 7 Japanese!
Hayley then confirms that Alex can’t play for Immunity today due to his decision not to be shackled to Graham.
Most of them have refused Temptation so far. But now they’re singles, not teams, so they can’t rely on backup anymore.
A train of 25 plates of sushi will roll past them. The trays range in calorie count from 70 to 600. So there’s some okay-ish dishes on there.
Four of the plates will also have a prize valued up to $5,000. And one plate will have Immunity.
Choose a plate as the train comes past. Eat it. Turn plate over. Potentially profit!
If Immunity doesn’t get found it will stay with Michelle. So it’s a pretty safe bet someone will have a crack!
So, who’s tempted? Start the train! Choo-chooooo!
One of the things is a chocolate mousse. That’s not sushi! It’s also 513 calories? Holy crap. I love mousse. Guess I better stop eating it by the bucket.
Graham doesn’t have sushi in Carcour so he doesn’t even know what most of them are.
Margie loves sushi as well. And she’d love to try some of the dishes. But Mish would kill her!
There’s healthy food on offer and a chance to stay longer, surely that’s tempting? Simon says it’s healthy food but there’s lots of carbs in it which will be harder to take off than just the calories?
… Okay.
Hayley goes through some of the prizes to try and tempt them.
There’s a Windows 7 smartphone worth $800.
An Acer A3 Ultrabook worth $1,400.
Pampering at Sanctuary Sanitarium. (Worth?)
Torque gym from Workout World? $2,500.
And Hayley’s taking five of the plates away to improve the chances. One in four chance to get something this time. And if nobody has a go this time Immunity will stay with Michelle.
Margie looks really tempted but it’s Lydia who ultimately reaches out first. Followed by Margie. Followed by Simon. Followed by Graham! Yikes!
Now it’s getting interesting!
Game on, Margie says!
Margie’s chosen prawn nagiri at 138 calories. Not too bad. She looks over her shoulder for Mish first.
What’s she won? Turns plate over and she’s got… nothing!
Simon has pork gyoza at 147 calories. He says it tastes spectacular!
And Simon has won… An Acer A3 Ultrabook from Microsoft. Cool! He’s promised it to his son Levi for his Christmas present. Dude, sweet!
Graham’s turn next. He’s got sashimi for 73 calories. Pretty good.
Hayley suggests Graham, as a community man, could open up a sushi train in Carcour.
He won’t be doing it with his winnings as there’s nothing on the bottom of his plate either!
Lydia’s also got sashimi. 73 calories. She busts out the chopsticks. Everyone’s watching her which is making her a little nervous.
What’s she won? An ad break!
After the ad break Lydia has won… nothing!
16 plates left on the train. 3 have prizes, 1 has Immunity. Still 1 in 4 chance at winning!
Michelle still holds Immunity at this point, so the four from last round are going again.
No? Lydia’s not having another go. She’s not going to push her luck, she says. She told herself she’d have a shot and see how it goes. No luck? Oh well!
Margie’s got cucumber rolls at 88 calories for her next dish. She wolfs them down.
Let’s see what she wins this time… Nothing again!
Simon has a 114 calorie dish, salmon roe ship. Michelle and Lisa are making faces as he eats it. Lisa says he’s not getting a kiss tonight! “Oh come onnnn!” Simon mumbles with his mouth full.
Simon’s scored himself the home gym from Workout World this time!
Margie suggests he drops Lisa and goes out with her instead!
Simon says to us, “No way.”
261 calories for Simon so far and he’s won two things, so he’s quite happy.
Prawn nagiri worth 139 calories for Graham next. It has “that green stuff” on it and he doesn’t like it. That green stuff being wasabi and it doesn’t like him, either. He’s breaking out in a sweat after eating a couple mouthfuls.
Lydia and Simon fan him off with their hands as he has a big swig of water.
And for all that? Graham won nothing!
13 plates remaining. Still two prizes and an Immunity. Only Margie, Simon and Graham still in the running.
Margie reaches out and for a moment Simon gasps as he thinks Margie’s going for the mousse and she confesses she almost did.
Margie and Graham both have another crack while Simon’s opting out. We see footage of the sushi train going past while Simon doesn’t reach for it but it’s footage from the previous round because Simon has the salmon roe dish in front of him. Nice work, editors!
Simon’s got the two prizes so he’s happy with that. Margie’s happy he’s out too, just Graham to go!
187 calories in the teriyaki chicken roll Margie has selected this time. Not a strategic choice, it was her stomach telling her to “pick that one, little fatty!”
She’s not looking forward to facing up to Mish when she gets back after this…
And Margie has won… NOTHING! AGAIN! Poor Margie.
Margie says the wise Margie never plays Temptation but the hungry Margie does.
Hayley suggests she can work it into her daily intake but Margie says she burns very slowly and her calorie intake for lunch is usually only around 300 calories.
Graham’s turn. Pork gyoza, 147 calories. No wasabi this time!
And he’s won… nothing, again!
Oh dear. 359 calories for Graham so far. Not too bad. But Graham’s still disappointed because he’s “gone against his integrity”.
Yeah…
Michelle STILL has Immunity at this point. Will Margie or Graham play yet again? Surely they have to go at least once more?
Margie’s contemplating giving up but she eventually grabs a salmon and avocado roll dish.
Graham’s mystified by the remaining sushi dishes. He asks Lydia and Simon what he might like. He likes fish, they say? So maybe he’ll like the eel. Eel nigiri, apparently.
No wasabi again. Lydia guarantees he’ll like it. Graham knows he’ll get a caning from Steve but he’s still hoping to win Immunity.
Margie goes first again. 218 calories in her salmon and avocado roll.
Feels like it’s her last supper, she says. Hayley tells her that she’s seen Mish on past seasons with contestants who have gone hard at Temptation and she’s been fine with it. “Really?”
Hayley deadpans, “No.”
Everyone cracks up, even Margie.
Tomorrow night, Temptation continues. And the atmosphere starts to get decidedly tense as Graham struggles to eat his eel. I don’t think he likes it!
Margie and Simon get into a barney at the sushi train table. That should be fun!
Then Steve gets stuck into Alex over his decision not to be shackled to Graham. Alex is going to get very fired up over it all.
Then, The Contest! Looks like a marathon challenge endurance thingy. And Simon’s going to collapse afterwards, getting an oxygen mask and a ride on a stretcher out of the room.
Meep!
