TBL 7×31 – Yearly Balance-Over-Pool Challenge. Will Margie play nice?
Previously on The Biggest Loser Lydia found out THE SECRET. Which was The Bunker. So now she can sneakily spy on everyone else in the house like some kind of creeper.
Also the Young Pups and Old Dogs had a cook off, won by the Old Dogs. And a Charm School Temptation, won by the Young Pups.
Tonight the Young Pups get to go on their reward dinner at a fancy restaurant where Hamish will be waiting to surprise Michelle. More smooshy love things await!
Later the weekly challenge kicks off and it looks like Margie’s not going to play fair…
But first we have to find out who has Immunity from the Charm School Temptation. The person who received the most individual votes was… Michelle!
She’s surprised and a little embarassed by winning. But she had fun getting out of her shell and meeting new people.
Hayley jokingly suggests that Hamish better look out. Michelle assures her he has nothing to worry about. Awwww!
Time for the Young Pup girls to have their dinner. Michelle’s looking forward to spending a fun night with the girls outside of Camp.
But as they walk into the restaurant Kasey says they’ve thrown another little surprise at them.
Michelle looks around a bit as she’s walking into the room where they’ll be eating and sees Hamish and looks away then does the classic double take and realises who it is sitting at the table with a big bunch of flowers. Awwww!
Hamish is Michelle’s first boyfriend, she says. Awww! They lean on each other for support and stuff.
Kasey asks Hamish how it’s been on the outside and Hamish says it’s been good.
Selena’s happy to see them reunited and he even gives her a hug too. Awwww!
Michelle can hardly believe he’s there.
Hamish says his food and stuff have been going good on the outside. Michelle says it’s been hard for her without him. Hamish says it’s been hard for him, too.
…
Nobody’s been sleeping in Hamish’s room? Nope. And it still smells like him, Michelle says. Ew.
Why’s Margie there, anyway? Part of the game this week.
Margie says it was hard going from the Red Team which has three hard workers to the White Team which… well. Selena’s obviously being a bit lazy, still.
Selena says she’s been missing home a lot. She feels like she’s been doing better this week, now she’s been pushing herself more.
Kasey says she’s worried about Selena’s mental state, both because she’s a team member but also because it’s a worry seeing anyone with those sort of problems.
Selena’s just taking it one day at a time.
Both Hamish and Michelle have fish, grilled, no butter or oil or anything. Good job!
But now it’s time to say goodbye. They’re outside the restaurant near the beach and having a little awkward chat. Awwwww.
They’re taking it day by day. Hamish says he has to go though, even though he doesn’t want to. Another kiss. Awwww!
The Old Dogs have a beach training session. They’ve got their “swimmies” on underneath their clothes, Graham says.
Steve and Mish have a special guest. 72 year old Derek. He’s not an elite athlete, just an average guy that enjoys his training. Until 63 he enjoyed running but his knees gave out on him. So he took up ocean swimming instead.
Until 1985 he didn’t do anything much at all. Smoked, drank, hunched over a computer all day.
But then he started to work out and changed his lifestyle… didn’t say what spurred it or when he started.
But he says he doesn’t spend four hours a day in training, the important thing is to enjoy it.
The closest in age would be Alex at 50 and Derek says he’s a kid!
Mish says it’s about being the best version of themself. She loves Derek! And Derek loves her and is going to take her away now. Ha!
Time to go for a swim in the ocean! Everyone gets in and follows Derek. Given his age, Lydia says, it was amazing how fast he took off. Alex says he got into the water and started paddling away and didn’t have troubling breathing or anything. At the start of the show he’d’ve swum 10 metres and then died!
After having a swim, Derek had to run, so the rest of the session is back to Steve and Mish working them out. Lifting sandbags up onto their shoulders, dumping them back onto the ground, over and over.
Then another swim out to Mish on a surf ski.
And then Mish gets tipped over and dumped into the water. With a camera on board so we get to watch her realise she’s going in the drink and then flailing about under water and back onto the ski afterwards laughing. Simon swims over to check she’s okay and she’s fine. Still funny!
Time for situps on the beach with Commando.
Who thought they were too old when they came to Camp? Alex says he was. He’d said to Commando, back at his house, that he was waiting for a heart attack in the hopes that would flip the switch in his head and get him to lose the weight.
Alex doesn’t know what was wrong with the old Alex but he’s gone now so it’s all good.
Time to head back to Camp and get cleaned up from their beach outing.
Back at Camp we see Margie, Michelle and Kasey are having a discussion about Selena. Margie thinks Selena’s a bit of a distraction to the team, looking at it as an outsider. How many times have they been through this with Selena since getting into the house?
The girls sigh heavily. It’s been two or three times, the girls say. Think it’s been more than that…
Margie says she’d seen it from Week One, Selena not pulling her weight. Then she got brought back into the game and she’s still not doing the work. And now, working out with the Young Pups, she’s realised the extent of Selena’s laziness.
Since she’s part of their Team this week she’s got to look at their options as a Team and so, maybe they approach the Elimination strategically? Selena doesn’t want to be there so they throw the weigh-in and nominate her? Perhaps?
Kasey tells us she wouldn’t ever want to throw the weigh-in but Michelle says that they’ll have to have a chat about it on their own.
Kasey and Michelle are having a chat about it. Kasey’s worried Selena will slip back into her old ways on the outside but… Michelle points out that it’s not good for Selena but it’s not doing them any good either, it affects them as well. They can’t rely on Selena wanting to be there and they’re constantly having to push her along, make her eat the right things and so on. They need to work as a team but Selena’s not doing her part.
Michelle says she feels more like a mother than a team mate.
Michelle doesn’t want to throw the weigh-in because at the end of the day they’re only cheating themselves. So they’re giving Selena the rest of the week to pick up her game and realises she really needs to be there.
Pretty sure the Young Pups will be putting Selena up for Elimination if it comes to that. Michelle has Immunity and Margie sure as hell won’t volunteer.
Tiff arrives for Young Pup training but first there’s a surprise for Margie. Honorary ninja this week is Margie and so she needs her own ninja outfit!
This will be Margie’s first time training in the dojang so she’s going to have to learn all the basics. Margie says the other girls are all right into it and looking very professional. Probably can’t see Selena from where she is…
Margie’s out of her comfort zone and Kasey finds it pretty funny. Tiff calls Margie out the front and challenges her to help scare the other girls with her war cry.
Her first attempt sounds “like a sick cat”, Margie says. But her second one is much better.
Margie tells us she’s appreciated having Tiff as her trainer so she’s just looking to really enjoy this session.
Tiff says Margie’s looking very strong and has made her ninja mum proud.
Time for a “sexy circuit”, Tiff says. Kasey’s not sure any circuit is really sexy.
Kasey’s over trying to motivate Selena. Selena just tunes her out and doesn’t work as hard as she should so Kasey’s given up.
Tiff sends Kasey, Margie and Michelle out to run up and down the stairs outside. Tiff’s going to have a chat to Selena about whether she’s there to stay or if she’s just going to walk.
Selena says she’s had a moment this week where she’s thought about leaving. Tells Tiff that there’s nothing stopping her walking out of the house and never coming back. Tiff says that’s true. Selena thinks being home will let her be around the people she love.
Tiff… doesn’t sound convinced when talking about it with us. Says Selena’s not working out hard enough, has no motivation, isn’t eating right. How will she do it at home if she can’t even do it at Camp?
Tiff tells Selena she’s not ready to go home yet. Can she hang in there? Selena says she’s not sure what to think anymore. She knows it’ll be tough on the outside but she’s got the determination to do it now. She’s worked hard by herself, she tells us. It’s only in front of her teammates that her performance drops off.
Selena doesn’t want to let Tiff down so she’s going to take some time to think about what she’ll do.
She’s sitting outside a door at Camp on one of the benches and pondering her future. She says she’ll need to learn to get along with other people if she stays.
Erm, it’s got bugger all to do with that. The girls like you fine, the problem is YOU’RE LAZY. That’s why you’re fat, that’s why you’re not losing the weight, that’s why everyone gets pissed with you! ARG!
She ultimately decides she’s going to try and stay for another week and prove to the girls she can do this.
It’s not about staying “one more week” it’s about staying as long as you can until you’re ready to do it on the outside. And you’re not! *flail*
Anyway, time for the weekly challenge. One final battle between the Old Dogs and Young Pups.
Today’s challenge is called… “Generation Balance”. Er, okay?
There’s a table with 20 items. Ten are pre-1982, ten are post-1982. The challenge is to get ten items from their generation back across the balance beams crossing the pool.
Start on one side, cross the pool, pick up an appropriate item, carry it back over the pool. One item at a time. One person per team on the beams at once. If you fall off before getting an item you have to start over. If you drop an item into the water you have to take it back to the table before someone else can try.
First team to get ten items, wins!
Winning team gets to select one person from the losing team to weigh in IMMEDIATELY. No Last Chance Training for that person, no chance to burn the extra calories.
Still a few days until weigh-in, so that could make a great deal of difference.
Time to begin! Stack hats on. Let’s get going!
Margie won the balance contest so she should do well. But Margie says she doesn’t like competing against her old team mates so she’s going to purposefully set out to lose.
Sigh. And she used to play team sports? Terrible.
Margie takes a half dozen steps across the first part of the beam and falls in. Without even getting to the bit where the beams cross over.
Lisa doesn’t fair much better though, falling before getting to the halfway point. And landing right on her ladyparts, too! Ouchies.
Simon’s the first to make it across and grabs an old cassette playing radio that looks very familiar. I’m pretty sure that’s the exact one we had when I was a kid! Coooool.
I mean, it’s the one my parents had. Because clearly I am not old enough to recognise that radio…
He doesn’t make it back across the first part of the beam before falling off and into the pool.
Michelle makes it across second and grabs the “game console”. Which is actually an XBOX 360 wireless controller. Much like the one I could be playing Mass Effect 3 with right now. Sigh.
Kasey and Lydia both get across. Lydia grabs an old style egg beater which Lydia says she actually has one like at home. Whips cream wonderfully, she says.
Kasey’s grabbed an MP3 player. So no mistakes so far, it seems.
Alex takes three steps and takes a nosedive. Selena takes two shuffling steps and goes in. She tells us it was a good thing she didn’t have her hearing aid in!
Margie’s back up again and balancing. Or pretending to balance. Badly.
Graham goes in not long after.
Michelle is getting suspicious of Margie at this point and Margie is telling us again that she hasn’t liked being part of the team and misses her Red Team and so on. Boohoo. You’re on the Young Pups team now.
Lisa used to do gymnastics way back in the day and is hoping that will come back to her. So far it doesn’t seem to be. But she does shuffle across and pick up an old rotary style phone while Michelle has brought back a laptop.
Old Dogs are on two items, Young Pups on three.
Kasey grabs a CD for the next one. A Take That CD. She’s not a fan but it’s very light!
Simon, meanwhile, has taken another crack at the radio he fell off with earlier.
After an ad break Simon is wibbling and wobbling on the beam and then back into the pool!
Kasey returns her CD to bring the Young Pups to 4 items while Michelle is telling us that Selena agreed to basically just fall off straight away so the others could go ahead and get the items quicker. Selena’s taking one for the team, Michelle says.
Lydia tries to pick up a suitcase but can’t make it back across the pool. Margie’s soaked up another bunch of lame balancing time before soaking up some more pool water.
So it’s going to come down to Michelle and Kasey against the Red Team girls and Simon. Alex and Graham are pretty much taking quick dives now too.
Lisa then decides to go with “the ghetto blaster”! Ha! Anyway, it’s the cassette playing thing Simon kept failing to bring back. She thought she’d show Simon how you bring an item back.
And she manages to bring it back successfully!
Lydia’s got a hula hoop! Kasey has an LCD monitor? Or TV? Either way it’s looking a bit too light.
Alex takes another header immediately and Hayley is disappointed. Then Graham does the same and Hayley says GRAHAM!!
Margie’s having another go. Or faking another go. But taking a very long time at it. Which is annoying Michelle and Kasey who know they can get there and back now and Margie’s slow attempt is letting the Old Dogs catch up.
5-6, Old to Young now.
Margie finally makes it all the way across the pool and is urged to get the small mobile phone but… falls in. Again. They’re pretty sure it’s sabotage now.
Simon brings the luggage across and it’s 6-6!
Michelle brings back a cyclonic vacuum while Lydia brings back an old hoover.
8-8 as Margie starts another attempt while Lydia is also going across. Margie grabs the mobile phone again and gets her wobble on during the first beam back. Will she finally do the right thing?
Nope. After another ad break she’s in the drink again.
Michelle and Kasey are pretty convinced it’s all a ploy to make the Young Pups lose.
The Old Dogs finally hit the lead but with Michelle and Kasey having turns they still have a chance. 9-8.
If Lisa brings back the Rubik’s cube, they win. Michelle brings back a Razer scooter to bring it to 9-9 but Lisa gets there not long after and wins it for the Old Dogs.
The Old Dogs are celebrating a lot considering Margie threw the challenge, quite obviously. By her own admission.
Anyway, Old Dogs win. Who’ll they put up to weigh in immediately?
They’re discussing it first. Kasey says if they’re playing the game smartly they’ll pick herself, Michelle or Margie.
Margie’s sure Black and Red have her back and Black and Red are talking about having Margie weigh in right now because she loses big numbers.
Which is sort of having her back, because they control the voting if Young Pups go up for Elimination.
But we’re going to find out that decision on Monday night. SIGH.
Also on Monday, Simon’s sick of the backstabbing and the games and is a bit broken down in training but Steve’s going to show him something to give him an idea of how far he’s come.
Then a twist at the Weigh-In/Elimination sees Margie exposed and vulnerable for some reason? I really don’t care if she goes at this point, dirty backstabber!
Tomorrow night. Lydia and Mish have a chat during training about the gameplaying and stuff.
More footage from the Charm School Temptation. EWWW.
And Hamish getting dressed up and getting his makeup on before surprising Michelle. Presumably with Sammy playing her Fairy Hotmother role from past weeks?
