TBL 7×21 – White get a little sand in their… you know… during the weekly challenge.
Previously on The Biggest Loser Lydia won Immunity at the surprise weigh-in and also received a 24 hour leave pass from Camp, choosing to spend her leave at a swanky hotel in Sydney.
Temptation started and the early indications are that Hamish will win in some kind of chocolatey landslide.
Tonight! We find out if Hamish wins, we find out how many chocolates and calories Hamish ate to win and we get to snort derisively at him going home for a hug from his Mum.
Mish’s team get a night away from Camp to have dinner at a nice restaurant. Presumably for educational purposes.
Also a challenge kicks off on a sandy, miserable beach in Sydney. Contestants will have to dig out a kayak from the sand. And both White and Blue are going to find it tough and dramatic shouting and angst shall ensue.
As the episode picks up we’re still watching Hamish plow through his box of chocolates while everyone around him seems to not be eating any at all.
But now the time has finished. Take off your blindfolds and we’ll reveal who participated.
Seems it was just one person who took part. Hamish managed to put away 988 calories worth of chocolate. Everyone is flabbergasted.
Hamish looks like a naughty little boy, Hayley says. Did he think anyone else was playing? No, he didn’t.
YOU WHAT?! How stupid are you?
Even Hayley’s a little stunned at him eating a whole box of chocolates when he didn’t think anyone else was competing.
Hamish says there’s no point doing a half-arsed effort, may as well go all the way.
Lisa comes right out and says it to us – Hamish was stupid. He knew he wouldn’t have to eat that many to get through.
Hamish misses his Mum though and that factored into his decision. He tells us that Immunity was secondary, he was far more excited about getting to go home and get a hug from his mum.
“Mummy!” Hamish says, in a childish voice. Not realising everyone’s thinking he’s a fucking child at this point. Simon looks furious and tells us Hamish needs his head read.
Michelle’s happy for him getting to go home and to win Immunity. But she’s still a bit disappointed…
Time for Hamish to bugger off, seeya in 24 hours!
Everyone’s appalled. Margie says the hardest session she’s had with Mish she only burned 390 calories and it almost killed her so she doesn’t understand.
Simon thinks it’s a copout. He’s copping out of the hard work back at Camp. He points out to us that of the five Temptations so far, four were won by Blue Team members.
Alex says it seems like they’re taking the easy way out. And tells us that he won’t be helping Hamish out anymore. Given that Alex is apparently one of the most supportive in the house, that might bite Hamish more than he might’ve expected.
The remaining contestants at Temptation are now going into the weigh-in without the safety net of an Immunity.
Hamish is talking to us on his way to his family, saying he’s really looking forward to it and he thinks everyone understands he only took Temptation to see his family and get the hug from his Mum.
Hamish is wearing a hat on his head in that to-camera bit. Seems he’s had a haircut at some point and it’s being hidden? Makeover? Or his Mum?
Hamish’s family have cooked him dinner, including potatoes and bread rolls and Hamish managed to resist them, much to the surprise of his family.
Then he tells his parents about Michelle. OH THIS IS GOING TO BE AWKWARD AGAIN.
Hamish blushingly tells his Mum about his night away with Michelle and she gets Mum’s seal of approval, “She seems like a nice girl.”
She does. And you’re going to be disappointed she’s not as into your son as he’s into her!
While he had a nice 24 hours away with his family he’s also excited to get back and see Michelle.
So on the way back to Camp he heads into a florist to get some flowers for a “best friend”. “She’s female.” Florist: “Okay.”
Hamish tells us he’s not had a lot of experience with girls but he’s heard that flowers are a good way of winning one over.
Eating 988 calories at Fat Camp so you can go home and hug your Mum is probably not going to be balanced by a fistful of posies.
Mish isn’t at Camp to train her team today. She wants them to do an hour’s worth of training by themselves. A really hard, gruelling session, all without Mish being there. Mish tells us she wants to see if they can nail a session while she’s not around.
They don’t know that Mish is actually there, in The Bunker, watching their every move. Sneaky bugger!
Mish knows this is a good test because they need to be able to do this on the outside.
Margie’s keeping them honest and motivated, Mish notes. She’s very pleased.
Today’s challenge for Lisa and Margie is to run faster than they’ve ever run before. Mish is stoked because the girls are running as fast as they would with Mish in the room. Lisa usually only maxes out at 12km/hr and today she’s managed 13km/hr.
After they manage to hit 13 for their assigned time Margie suggests to Lisa that they bump it up to 14. Lisa is hesitant but after some encouragement from Margie and Lydia she gives it a go and is pleasantly surprised she can do it.
She’s knackered afterwards, but stoked that she managed to do it.
Mish is cheering away in the bunker, too!
Afterwards Mish knocks on the girls’ door and pokes just her head in to ask them if they trained today, hard. The girls all answer that they smashed it in training today. And Mish says excellent, comes into the room in a spanking hot blue dress with some extra dresses over her shoulder for the ladies.
Mish says their reward for working so hard all week is they’re going for a girl’s night out! Yes, seriously, she tells them.
Get dressed and let’s go!
Mish also asks Margie to wear a little bit of lipstick. Margie looks hesitant and Mish compromises by suggesting lip gloss, at least. Margie says anything for her!
Mish, Lisa and Lydia are in dresses, Margie’s in a pink business shirt. No dress? Awww!
They turn up at Orto and get welcomed in.
Mish is excited to be taking her team out for a night out, it’s not something she’s done before.
Mish’s first tip is to not go to a restaurant when you’re feeling ravenous because you’ll dive into the bread basket when it comes around and then probably order a really heavy meal.
And then there’s a momentous occasion – Mish is letting her girls have an alcoholic beverage. First time she’s ever let anyone on her team have a drink. She wants them to know they’ve worked hard and that it’s okay to occasionally have a glass of wine with friends.
Mish, Lisa and Lydia have a glass of white wine each and Margie’s got a bottle of beer. Margie used to have a sixpack of beer or more a day, so that’s been her nemesis.
She does have some pink lip gloss on, too! It’s barely noticeable but it is there. Mish will turn her into a laaaaaaaady yet!
Mish wants Margie to realise she can sit back and really enjoy a beer and then stop, rather than just keep knocking back beer after beer.
Time to order foods! Mish tells us ordering off the menu can be tricky but you’ve just got to be smart about your selections and ask lots of questions about how things are cooked or if you can leave off certain elements of dishes.
Mish is giving them free rein to order what they want and the girls are making smart choices. Mish is quite pleased by their progress and thinks they’ll do just fine with their food.
And then… “Woman, what’s the deal with Simon?” Mish asks Lisa, to some giggling around the table. WOMEN!
Lisa says it’s nice to have someone to talk to and not have the guard up. Mish says that opening herself up like that, even a little, is a pretty big deal. Lisa’s had trouble trusting anyone for a long time so this is an unexpected but welcome bonus of her time on the show.
After their meal the waitress asks them if they want any desserts or coffees and they all knock those back. Mish says to them that her work is done!
And now it’s time for Hamish to return to Camp. OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD.
He hasn’t had a haircut yet, either. So I guess it’s not a hatchet job from his Mum.
He’s got the flowers behind his back and he’s nervous as he’s never given flowers to a girl before.
Hamish explains the flowers to Michelle, saying they’ve spent so much time together and he’s hoping this will let her share in a bit of the fun he’s had on the outside.
Awkward hug!
Michelle tells us it was a bit awkward getting flowers for the first time so she was a little embarassed. But it was nice!
Hamish hasn’t had much experience with girls, he tells us yet again. And he’s starting to fall for Michelle and he’s hoping the feelings will develop into something more and better.
Now it’s time for the weekly Challenge. It’s on a windy beach. Hayley’s rugged up in a hoodie and long pants, so I guess it’s also quite chilly?
Today’s challenge will test their strength, determination and patience. Where they’re standing there’s four kayaks and four paddles buried in the sand. On Hayley’s signal each team will have to dig for one kayak and one paddle. Then carry it 200 metres to the other side of the beach. Then paddle the kayak to a series of buoys in the water, over 100 metres from shore.
Each buoy has weight connected to it, the weight they’ve lost as a team each week at Biggest Loser.
First team to bring all their weight back to shore will win the challenge. But winning doesn’t get you a damn thing this time.
Today’s challenge is really all about not coming last!
The team that comes last will receive a 1kg penalty for each team member. Oooh, that’s going to burn White if they come last.
As Blue boys both have Immunity there’s only one spot above the Yellow Line for a team so it’s vital Red, White and Black do well.
They have to choose their diggers and their paddlers. Lisa and Lydia are going to dig, Margie’s going to carry and paddle first.
Think Margie might need some help carrying…
White pick Selena and Kasey to do the digging and Bek and Michelle to do the kayaking. Bek tells us they thought the kayaking would be the far harder part.
Red have Lisa and Lydia digging with Lisa and Margie paddling.
Black’s opting for Alex and Graham to do the digging and Simon to do the paddling.
Blue, of course, will have to do both.
Ready, steady, spaghetti! The teams all head into the area of sand and start digging random holes. There’s no assigned bays this time, just one big bay and the kayaks and paddles could be anywhere in that area.
And nobody knows how deep the kayaks might be buried.
Suffice it to say, nobody’s finding anything too quickly.
Surprisingly it’s Hamish who finds something first! He’s found a paddle for their kayak.
Next to find something is Kasey, who’s found them a kayak. Selena is hollered at to go help her.
Black find a paddle shortly thereafter.
Red haven’t found anything. And now Black has found their kayak as well!
Lydia’s crawling around, not willing to give up on a hole too soon. She’s digging down to about an arm’s length which should be plenty. I think she might want to try digging wider as the holes she’s creating are quite narrow and thus less likely to actually hit anything.
But after another ad break Lydia’s finally managed to find something. It’s a kayak!
Luke says that in this week’s challenge they don’t really need to win but they’re looking to prove they’re worthy of being in the Blue Team.
Hamish hasn’t been putting in 100%, Luke tells us, and now he’s just come back from his 24 hour pass Luke is hoping he’ll knuckle down and get it done.
Meanwhile, White’s woes have started. Bek’s trying to boss Selena around and telling her Kasey can’t do it on her own. And lookout, it’s caving in. And throw the sand out of the hole, not on Kasey!
Okay, that last one is a fair call. Selena’s throwing the sand in a really stupid, lazy way.
Bek’s screaming at Selena to throw the sand OUT of the hole. Selena says she does and then it just comes back in. So throw it further, Bek urges.
Lisa’s finding Bek’s yelling annoying and Lydia says she thinks that if Bek moved her body as much as her mouth she might lose a few more pounds.
Selena has a bit to camera. And says Bek was being a bitch! So she decided she was taking her hearing aid out and working in her own little silent world.
Man, having a disability isn’t always a disadvantage, is it?
Bek’s like a nagging wife, Selena says.
Bek finally tries to insist Selena go dig for an oar instead. She thinks her and Michelle are being helpful with their instructions but I’m not sure Michelle even thinks Bek is being helpful.
Meanwhile the other teams are burrowing away in relative silence as the 30 minute mark goes past.
Then, surprisingly, Selena manages to find an oar, all by herself. Bek will be happy, right?
Uhh, no. She says to us that Selena’s finally done something positive to contribute to the team. Now get the oar OUT of the sand. Geez.
Red are managing to lever their kayak up and out of the sand. An hour and a quarter after starting. They were the last to find anything and now they’re back in the lead.
White continue to implode. Selena’s back to helping Kasey dig the kayak out of the sand but not to Kasey’s satisfaction. Kasey’s complaining about Selena not helping when it was her own teammates who told her to leave Kasey to it.
Kasey says she’d be better off doing it on her own. Move! Out of the way!
Selena rightly points out she’s been trying to do everything she’s been asked, what has she done wrong? If they lose at weigh-in, Selena wants them to send her home. And Kasey sounds happy to oblige, saying that she doesn’t care if they lose now because it just means they can send Selena home.
Wouldn’t count on it, she’ll be up for elimination with someone else who may be a more tempting target. Especially knowing that the White Team will remain dysfunctional while Selena’s still there!
Selena feels like she’s being bullied today. She feels like they’re taunting her, like people used to when she was 13. She didn’t feel like part of a team and never felt like she was part of the team.
Hayley wanders off for a chat with Selena, who’s standing further down the beach and glaring angrily at the ocean. It didn’t do anything to you, leave it alone!
Selena says she feels like she’s been doing everything wrong. Hayley tells her she’s been amazing today. But she now has a decision to make – she can stay there, staring out at the sea by herself or she can go back and get in there and tell them she wants to help, what can she do?
It’s not over, Hayley tells her. She’s a strong, deadly women. Get back there and ask the girls what she can do to help.
Selena tells us she’s a fighter, she has to keep telling herself she is one, she knows she is.
Evidence to the contrary apparently does not dissuade her from that idea…
Anyway, she asks Bek and Michelle what she can do. She’s trying to help but her way isn’t working, so what can she do?
Michelle tells her that she needs to get in there and help and just give it her all. They know she’s got more strength in her than she’s showing, it’s more like a half effort from her.
Selena seemingly accepts that advice and gets back down to… not really doing a whole hell of a lot, it must be said. She’s just faffing about near one end of the kayak, the end that’s already excavated.
Black are having a go at lifting up their kayak. They’re only two minutes behind Red who’re still making their way up and over the hill with their kayak. Margie’s having to drag it by herself as Lisa and Lydia are still recovering from digging.
Black head off and over the hill as Blue continue their efforts to get their boat out. I think? I can’t even see their kayak.
Blue don’t want White to get through unscathed today. It’s time they get a penalty and possibly have someone sent home. Luke doesn’t say “Again” though. Selena’s already been sent home once, supposedly?
Margie’s already into the water and retrieving their first weight as Simon gets their kayak into the water. He’s focused more on staying in second place to ensure Blue and White can’t catch up.
Meanwhile back on the digging beach Kasey is slowing down more and more and Selena’s flopped on her stomach shovelling out sand like a turtle getting ready to lay eggs.
Kasey’s finally had enough and gets out of the hole for a bit. She’s never been so frustrated with someone and so she has to walk away for a bit, lest she explode.
Back at the other beach the Red Team has got their first weight to carry to the finish point. Lydia’s very happy about them being in the lead and having the Black Team behind them. They’re the two older teams and thus they should be hard pressed by the younger teams but the younger people are always arguing amongst themselves and underperforming.
And it turns out that wasn’t Red’s first weight, it was their last. They’ve just won! Red Team are looking very strong.
Meanwhile Blue have their boat out of the sand. After THREE HOURS. I’m reasonably confident I could have done that by myself in half the time and I’m no fitness freak!
Black manage to finish their race before Blue make it onto the hill.
Back on the beach Luke tells us he’s been diagnosed with a fractured metatarsal in his foot. Surprised it’s not in his mouth. But anyway it’s ruled him out of carrying the kayak over the hill so it’s down to Hamish alone.
And Hamish is finding it a huge struggle. Luke wonders if it’s still filled with sand or something, given the way Hamish is struggling.
Luke asks him if he’s representing the Blue Team or the “I want to give my mum a hug” team?
“SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!” Hamish bellows at Luke.
Luke asks him what Shannan would think about this. He’s got to put in the hard yards now and Luke will put them in when paddling. It’s time for Hamish to realise that eating 900 calories so he can go see his Mum was maybe not the wisest course of action.
Hamish is huffing and puffing and groaning and moaning after the ad break but he leans back down and grabs the kayak and starts pulling it along a bit further.
Luke says this is the angriest he’s seen Hamish since he arrived at Camp and he just needs to learn to focus that energy into what he’s doing instead of screaming and yelling and grunting. Luke tells him this is his time to prove he deserves to be there. This is his time to shine. If he does this he’ll earn so much respect from Luke, Shannan and all the other teams.
It’s heavy, Luke knows, but he can’t help him today. It’s Hamish’s day, today.
Hamish grabs the kayak handle and lifts it back up and starts trudging back up over the hill and Luke follows along behind calling out encouragement the whole way.
And as they finally get in sight of the beach the other two teams are there clapping and cheering for them both.
Hamish says he knows he gave 100% today and he thinks he made Luke proud. Awww!
Back on the beach, White’s still struggling with their kayak. They know that Hamish will struggle with the boat and so they figure they might still be in with a chance.
But then we see Hamish and Luke bringing in the weights and piling them into the collection bucket to finish the race.
Hayley goes over to the White Team and tells them the boys have finished meaning White will definitely be last today, meaning they’ll have a 4kg weight penalty at the weigh-in.
And Kasey says it might have been hard to pick who to put up for elimination before today. After today it will be unanimous.
Hey, maybe you won’t lose at weigh-in? A little positive thinking, please?
Obviously not in White’s vocabulary since they don’t even make a token effort at finishing the challenge…
Everyone gets back to Camp and decides they’ve been feeling the pressure a bit for the last few weeks so they’re going to have themselves a little party.
Uhoh.
People have gotten dressed up – Luke’s in a dress with a fake blonde wig!
Things get loud and a bit messy. And then things start to get out of control.
And things end up going way too far.
Monday night the Biggest Brother cameras capture everything… and one contestant crosses the line. Shannan tells us nobody can behave like that and get away with it. Someone has to go.
And it won’t be an Elimination, it will be an EXPULSION. The first one in the history of the show. DUN DUN DUN!
Tomorrow night some unseen footage of Hamish kicking some arse in training. Hooray!
Some more footage of Lisa and Simon’s romanticisim. Ew!
And can Ryan resist temptation on the outside? I’m going to go with nooooooooo…
