TBL 7×17 – Footloose and Fancy Free Friday. Fnord.
Previously on The Biggest Loser… oh, right, this is a Friday episode!
Tonight we see Shannan blow a gasket during training, some more loveydovey stuff with Michelle and Hamish (oooooh!) and we get a special catchup with Brenda, one month after leaving Camp.
But first, Hayley casually sitting on a high director’s style chair introducing the show. Drama, biggest stories, blowups, emotion and a contestant makeover. Loser like you’ve never seen before, Hayley promises.
To be honest that all sounds exactly like what we get every single episode and this will just be some extra bits they couldn’t squeeze in at the appropriate time.
Before we get to any of the new stuff let’s have a MONTAGE! Show lots of things, happening at once, etc etc. It’s basically a quick recap of the week’s events. You’ve either been watching, reading recaps or don’t really care that much anyway. So let’s get on to the new stuff?
I’m not recapping the recap footage, by the way. If you really want to read about it, go back and read about it. Gosh!
Lots of highlight reel footage of Brenda leading up to a catchup with her at home.
She was very scared about being home again and it took her a little while to really knuckle back down. But she’s training up to 4 hours a day at the gym now. She does some morning cardio then back to the gym in the afternoon for a session with her personal trainer and then either some more cardio in the gym or if it’s a nice day she goes out for a 5km walk, at a good clip!
She’s eating 1,000-1,200 calories a day and is finding she has plenty of energy, so long as she keeps eating the right things. Going out with friends is a bit of a challenge because she does love champagne, but she’s sticking to sparkling water and healthy nibblies.
She’d still love to meet somebody but she’s not in the right headspace just yet. But if it happens later on down the track? Great.
Later in the show we’ll catch up with her some more.
But before that, let’s have some more replayed footage from earlier in the week.
After Ryan’s failure at The Contest Shannan is giving them both barrels in a hardcore early morning workout session. He tells us the boys feel like they’re getting up every morning and working hard and they’re just not!
Shannan has them running up and down the main staircase at Camp, a common spot for the trainers to work their peeps out it seems.
Ryan’s quit after just three trips. He’s flat on his face on the floor and Shannan is fuming. Says Ryan only did an hour and a half of training over the weekend and it’s not enough! You don’t put in the hard work and the other teams will keep pulling ahead and you’ll keep buckling like he’s done today.
Shannan says he’s never been so frustrated with a contestant. It doesn’t seem like Ryan even cares.
Ryan tells us he’s never had anyone talk to him like that before in his life, just shouting the truth right at him.
Shannan’s worried Ryan will be dead within three years if the light inside him doesn’t go on.
Ryan’s ashamed of his effort afterwards.
Ryan confesses to Shannan afterwards that he tries but just like everything else in his life when it gets too hard he gives up. Shannan reminds him his life depends on it this time.
And if they go below the Line he’ll be the one going home because he can’t look at his teammates and tell them he’s honestly done as much work as he could have. This is his one chance but he’s got to get the fire going.
Shannan comes away much happier because it’s the first time Ryan’s been real with him.
Shannan leads Ryan back to the stairs and Ryan’s powering up the stairs now.
Simon and Lisa, the over 30 couple, have formed a special bond. As have the under 30 couple, Hamish and Michelle.
But Tiff and Mish turn up to train the girls and they’re missing a girl! This is right after the Temptation so Michelle is currently off with Hamish at their romantic cabin. Bwah ha ha!
Bek says Hamish blushed when announcing he wanted to take Michelle with him as his prize and Bek thinks Michelle would have preferred to DIE than stand next to him at that point. The girls all have a giggle.
Margie tells us that they’re actually quite cute together and it’s nice that they’re getting along and stuff. Awww, Margie does have some soft squishy feelings!
Tiff asks the girls if Michelle is off on a date and Lydia describes it as them being “on a night away, in a cottage, secluded”.
Tiff does the totally mature “OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH” and mimes two people pashing with her fingers. BWAHAHAHA! Love your work, Tiff!
Mish asks if Michelle wanted to be there and Tiff asks if she’s into it. And the girls all say Michelle could’ve said no if she wanted to, but she didn’t.
Michelle says she was a little bit embarassed but it was a nice feeling, being asked.
But they’re just friends, so far. She’s never had a boyfriend so she’s not really keyed into telling if a boy likes her or not.
HINT: IF HE ASKS YOU FOR A NIGHT AWAY IN A SECLUDED CABIN, HE’S INTO YOU.
More replayed footage of the awkward chat between the two while looking out over the ocean. Man, no way two virgins are going the first time pash with the cameras rolling. Of course that’s all we got!
Brenda gets a housecall from Dr Swan and she says she’s doing a lot better. She sets out her healthy day of fooding. Dinner actually looks quite nice, stir fry chicken with some veggies.
Dr Swan has a surprise for her in the kitchen.
Not a plesant one, either. It’s a table with what used to be her weekly intake of food and drink. Including some really delicious looking chicken, chips and gravy. Ohhh, that’d hit the spot right now.
Six chicken and chips meals, Dr Swan says. She loves BBQ chicken!
Dr Swan says when you’ve been eating 1,000-1,500 calories a day for a while you can have a blowout day or two and you won’t really notice a difference and so you might think of letting it slide for a third, fourth and fifth day. And then by the time you realise you’re putting weight back on your habits have changed back to what they used to be.
So that table could come back to haunt her if she’s not careful.
And now it’s time to get a catchup on Brenda’s Bio Age. Her chronological age was 40 at the start and her Bio Age was 49.
And now, a few weeks later? Bio Age 43! She’s only +3 now instead of +6. Dr Swan says another couple of months work and she should be able to get it back to par, or even wind the years back a bit. And if she does meet Mr Right she’s increasing her chance of having babies!
Brenda asks if she’s a Bio Age of 32 does that mean she can date guys around that age? Yes, of course, Dr Swan says!
Now it’s time for Sammy stuff! Sammy’s relating a story we didn’t hear last night to the contestants where she’d be out at a club with her friends and boys would actually approach her but she’d think it was because they were trying to get to her friends via her or because they saw her as an easy target, she never thought anyone would actually like her.
Luke used to be a bouncer at a club and he ended up getting a bit mean to people (no, really?) because when girls would come up and say hello to him he would think they’re just trying to get into the club. Not because they actually wanted to say hello.
Kasey doesn’t have the confidence to approach men and talk to them.
She’s lost 16kg but she still sees the old Kasey in the mirror.
Sammy’s tips? Take compliments from people and believe them. Don’t talk people out of liking you.
Her next thing is something she lives by every day. BBELLS. Like people say they’ll be there with bells on, but a double B. Stands for Be Thankful. Believe. Enjoy. Laugh. Love. Succeed.
And now it’s time to give Brenda a special makeover, with assistance from Sammy. Who has a really pretty blue lacy dress thing over a plain white dress thing. It’s pretty!
Brenda says it’s been a bit hard on the outside because she’s only about halfway to where she wants to be. She’s lost weight and looks different, but still feels the same.
She does feel more confident in social situations.
Sammy wants her to radiate a bit more confidence today so it’s time to play dressups and get hair and makeup done.
And after her makeover she sees herself in the mirror and is quite pleased. She looks pretty good for a forty year old lady who’s still, really, overweight.
Brenda’s excited for the future and looking forward to the Finale.
Sammy’s going to keep taking Eliminated Contestants for makeovers as the weeks go on.
Monday night, things are still going to happen. Nothing new in the teaser for next week’s action.
Still, Weigh-In looks DRAMATIC!
Overall this episode could have used some more footage we hadn’t already seen but it was good to see a few extra tidbits and have more than a 20 second catchup with Brenda. It’ll be interesting to see how some of the weaker contestants go after being given the boot. If Ryan goes home on Monday/Tuesday I’m not sure Sammy’s going to have a lot to work with for the makeover!
