TBL 7×14 – Elimination causes more kerfuffling. And a new twist to the game!
Previously on The Biggest Loser… Blue gained Team Immunity leaving Red and Black to face elimination.
At a tense Elimination it was decided Brenda from the Red Team would be the one to go home.
Tonight, the Secret Women’s Business Alliance is revealed in the post-Elimination dustup. Red and White had some kind of agreement not to vote for other girls but something obviously changed at some point. Perhaps White realised Red would stab them in the back if they didn’t do it first?
Later another Contest kicks off. This whole week is Boys versus Girls rather than the regular teams, so The Contest is likely to be more hotly contested than usual.
Black and Red are in Loser Lounge waiting for the contestants to come back. Simon and Graham are worried Alex won’t be back, leaving the Black Team on two.
Margie tells us she’s very confident Brenda will be back. She tells us the White Team had promised not to vote for anyone on Red and Red promised the same in return.
White Team files into the lounge first and none of them can make eye contact with Red so they twig early that something has gone awry.
Alex comes back in and Simon lets out a big sigh of relief. Graham and Simon head straight over to give him a big manly hug each.
Margie’s looked at the White Team with a filthy look on her face. She asks them what happened. Selena tells them Brenda got sent home. She didn’t even have to reveal her vote because Brenda got 4 before that. Michelle says she couldn’t vote for Brenda because they’re so close.
Lydia and Lisa are in shock, Margie’s carrying the accusing face so far.
Kasey also says she voted for Alex.
Bek said it was very difficult for her to vote today and she ended up voting with her heart. Alex inspires her and so she had to write down Brenda’s name. Bek’s got tears in her eyes so it seems she’s genuinely upset.
Brenda was very eloquent in leaving, Bek says, and she’s very sorry she had to vote for her.
Lisa’s talking to us, saying the voting agreement was actually in place before last week and is supposedly what saved Michelle. When she was facing off against Shane. And Red was close with Shane!
Yes, but Red is evil, Lisa.
Margie says Brenda had a lot of trust in the White girls as did Margie. But that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
Lydia then chimes in, finally, so you know it’s not going to go well from here!
Lydia says that Brenda went up because she thought she’d be safe and that the girls would have her back. As planned, Margie said, they had that discussion? Girls looking out for girls?
Bek’s crying some more. She admits they did have an agreement but in the end she couldn’t write Alex’s name down, it wouldn’t be right.
Lydia then says to us that it’s clear to her that Bek is playing the game pretty hard.
Bitch, are you for real? The right choice by the game is putting Alex out. Brenda’s not any kind of threat next to a hefty boy! You want to talk gameplaying, how about making alliances?! Sheesh.
Lydia thinks Bek is looking to the future and trying to set up alliances when it gets out of Teams.
Because, you know, the one thing that inspires confidence in an alliance is a proven track record for not sticking by such agreements!
I know you’re a farm chick from Tassie but there’s no excuse for being that stupid, really.
Anyway, trainers rock up. Mish is gutted to see Brenda’s gone. Brenda was just starting to get into the whole thing and realising she doesn’t have to cry throughout training!
So who went up with Brenda? Alex? Steve and Mish are surprised.
Black had a pact though. Lowest percentage would put themselves up, regardless of anything else, and they’re sticking by that. Steve nods his head approvingly.
Lisa had the lowest percentage but Margie and Brenda had a discussion and decided that Brenda might have a better chance of getting through unscathed, thanks to her friendship with White. She thought she’d be the only one to be safe.
Mish is down to three but she says she has three strong women so bring on this week!
Afterwards everyone files into the weigh-in room for a meeting with Hayley to find out what the big surprise is going to be.
Camp Biggest Loser has been their home for three weeks and they know what Biggest Loser is all about. And you should always expect the unexpected!
The game is about to be turned on its head!
Comfortable in your four teams? Well, don’t get too complacent. This week you’re competing as two teams. Boys versus Girls! Battle of the sexes. Woo!
Margie is already fuming. Bek looks a little nervous.
Margie tells us she doesn’t want to work with Bek and Bek’s saying she’s worried the tension will affect them.
Hayley then says the teams will train in their gender divided teams and weigh in for their teams. One team will be above the Line and one team will be below the Line and face Elimination.
Luke’s excited, he’s almost got a footy team back together and they’re facing off against the women’s netball team!
Margie says she played footy and the girls always kicked butt.
Yup, that’s why you see so many women playing in the NRL/AFL/A-League etc. I’m sure they’re trembling that you’ve got one footy player on the team!
Luke’s talking a big game too, thinks the girls had better bring their best efforts this week.
Margie thinks Luke’s going to be surprised by how well the women do!
Mish and Tiff take their combined girls team off to the gym for a training session. They’ve got to bring the team together and leave the bitchiness behind, Tiff tells us.
Mish says to the contestants they’ve got to come together as one unit and go “balls to the wall” all week. Um, Mish?
Mish says she’s not having those boys beat them!
Tiff’s got an extra surprise for the girls too – pink headbands for everyone! And everyone calls out to Margie they’re compulsary. Red’s not exactly pink girls, Lisa says. Mish points out that you mix red and white together and you get pink. So, the Pink Team is born!
Tiff takes Kasey, Michelle and Lydia for a ninja workout while Mish works the remainder of the team on the treadmills to start.
Lydia’s looking forward to seeing Tiff’s training style. She’s finding it a little hard to shout while punching and stuff but she knows that’s Tiff’s style and she’s willing to be open minded and give it a go.
Over on the treadmills Bek is begging to be allowed to go 11.5km/hr but Mish is telling her she has to do 12. Margie’s doing 12.5 and she’s heavier than Bek.
Lisa can tell Bek’s not used to Mish’s no nonsense approach. Suck it up and do it, is Mish’s style.
Mish has them doing a run for a minute and if any of them jump off they’ve got to do it again.
Bek’s having a lot of trouble going for a whole minute and keeps holding onto the rails. Margie’s calling out to her to do it.
“I can run! I can run!” Mish keeps shouting at them. We know you can run, Mish! It’s Bek who can’t!
Bek apologises for having to stop again and Margie’s starting to get stressed and is in a lot of pain, as is Lisa and Selena.
They get set for another minute run and while Bek almost quits before the end she does finally finish!
Mish says they can’t have any weak links in the team. Bek really had to suck it up and she did.
Mish tells them all if they can take the fire her and Tiff saw today into their challenges the boys had better watch out!
And now it’s time for The Contest. The boys are carrying quite a few injuries, Luke says, so they really need to get the upper hand here.
Today’s Contest will test them on three criteria – strength, endurance and speed. And it’ll be best of three rounds with each team needing to nominate a champion for each round.
The winner of The Contest gets to go on The Walk! And remember, the last one resulted in Selena returning to the game, so there’s actually quite a bit of potential power in winning that Walk.
And the trainers are going to be there to cheer them on.
First round will be Strength.
Margie’s going to be the female Strength champion. Ryan’s going to be the champion for the boys.
And both teams will need someone to act as their brain to answer questions.
Girls choose Lydia!
Boys choose… Hamish? Ohhh, that’s going to be a mistake.
The first round starts out with each Champion holding a 20kg bar on their shoulders. The assistantbrain will be asked a series of questions. Every right answer, the bar stays light. Every wrong answer adds 5kg to the bar.
First to drop the bar loses!
Ryan says the bar is so uncomfortable, even without any extra weight. Luke’s worried Ryan’s mental strength will let him down.
First question:
Which has the most calories?
30g feta, cheddar or camembert?
The answer is… cheddar! Cheddar has 120 calories, feta has 100 calories, camembert has 90 and is covered in mould. :-(
Q2: How many teaspoons of sugar in a 375ml can of cola?
10, 12 or 6?
10! Hamish gets that wrong, making two wrong for Boys, one for Girls.
Q3: How many kilometres in a marathon?
36, 40, 42?
42. Another wrong for Boys, right for Girls.
Uhoh.
Q4: How many kilojoules in one calorie?
2.4, 4.2 or 4.4?
All of them are wrong, nutritional “calorie” is a kilocalorie. :P
Answer is 4.2. Hamish actually gets that right, Lydia gets it wrong!
Q5: Lowest sugar content?
Corn flakes, weet-bix, muesli.
A: Weet-bix!
Lydia gets that right, Hamish wrong again.
Ryan’s on double the weight Margie’s holding.
Ryan knows this is more of a mental battle.
Q6: Which has the lowest calories?
Apple, orange, pear?
Apple! More weight for Ryan!
Q7: How many calories in one medium boiled egg?
50, 60 or 70?
70. Lydia correct, Hamish wrong again.
Ryan’s on 30 to Margie’s 10kg.
Q8: Which has more fibre?
Rye, multi-grain or brown bread?
Rye! Hamish gets that one right, Lydia gets it wrong. Ooh.
Q9: Most calories?
100g of chicken, pork or turkey mince?
A: Pork!
Hamish says he’s finding it kind of funny watching the weight pile up on Ryan and he knows he’s going to get a hiding from Ryan later.
Q10: True or False, more calories in a teaspoon of honey than a teaspoon of sugar?
True! Hamish gets this right, too. Lydia does not.
Q11: Which fruit has the highest vitamin c content?
Guava, strawberries or grapefruit?
Guava. Hamish wrong again, Lydia right again.
Ryan’s starting to have sweat pour down his face and he’s not sure he can keep going.
Q12: True or false, nuts help lower your cholesterol?
True!
Both wrong. Ryan’s about to pike out, asking for Shannan to take the weight as we go to an ad break.
As we get back from the ad break Shannan and Steve take the weight off Ryan’s shoulders. Quite a few people are disappointed in Ryan’s effort. Shannan thinks Ryan’s mind let him down today as the biggest contestant should have been able to manage more than that.
Round two is a test of speed.
Michelle’s picked for Girls, Luke’s picked for Boys. Luke’s gone up because of his recent achievement of clocking the treadmill and most know Luke would have an advantage.
But it’s not on the treadmill, it’s a simple bike race. Luke hates spin bikes!
First to ten kilometres will win the round.
Michelle’s quite confident. She sprained her ankle so has been restricted to spinbikes for the last week so she’s had a bit of practice…
Luke says he’s been running his mouth for a while but it’s time to back it up with some action!
Luke knows there’s a lot of pressure because if they lose here the boys are out.
Michelle’s worried because the last time she was in a Contest she faced off against Luke and lost.
But she’s not giving up so soon, she’s going to give it a good go.
Luke’s gone out hard. Putting all his effort into his legs, keeping his body calm and working the bike like an engine.
Michelle knows she just has to keep her head down and go, don’t worry about Luke at all, just focus on keeping her mind focused and her cycling form perfect.
Luke hits one kilometre and Michelle is not very far behind. Shaping up to be a good competition!
As Shannan is preparing to raise his hand for the 2km mark Tiff is also preparing and they both call out 2km at the same time. So they’re neck and neck, which is an amazing effort from Michelle. She’s already closed up a bit of the small gap and she’s still going hard.
Tiff’s breaking it down into intervals for Michelle to keep her going.
As Michelle hits the 3km mark… Luke’s behind. And his legs seem to be slowing down.
The girls are all very excited by Michelle’s efforts. Margie says she’s got goosebumps.
Michelle gets to 4km ahead of Luke as well and tells us she didn’t care at that point if she won, just knowing she was ahead of him for once was great.
And Tiff keeps pushing her on, asking for another 100m and they’ll be at the halfway mark. And Michelle gets to that mark before Luke, too.
But Luke’s holding back a little bit. He’s sitting on 130RPM and he knows he can push to 150rpm when he needs to. He’s holding a little back for the final push to the end, planning on powering past her towards the end.
Michelle hits 7km. 3km to go. As Luke hits 7km he starts picking up the pace and he thinks Michelle is going to start slowing down soon.
I think he’s underestimated Michelle. She’s not showing any signs of giving in just has her head down and is flying along.
Michelle hits the 8km mark ahead of Luke and gets another boost of energy. Her team is calling out encouragement but she wants them to shoosh so she can concentrate.
Michelle says there was moments she wanted to give up, she was gripping on so hard to the handlebars and breathing hard.
As Luke closes in on the finish line he throws caution to the wind and goes as fast as he can and goes completely nuts, pedalling like mad.
Does Michelle have it in her to push for the last 1km? She tells us she’s thinking of it as the most important kilometre of her life.
Steve’s in Luke’s ear shouting encouragement. Luke gets to 170rpm which is a huge effort, Simon says.
The girls are all crowding around Michelle as she gets closer and closer and then Tiff throws her hands in the air and cheers as all the girls pretty much crash tackle Michelle on the bike. She won!
She’s obviously thrilled later as she tells us she cycled 10km and she beat her boy!
Margie can’t speak highly enough of Michelle’s effort. She says that not only did Michelle do really well but she beat the person generally accepted as the strongest person in the house!
Alpha FEMale? :-o
Luke says he’s proud of Michelle doing so well for herself but still a little disappointed he couldn’t pull out the win for the boys.
So the girls win The Contest! And… all the girls will go on The Walk? How’s that going to work?
Ahh, I see, they have to choose one person to go on The Walk.
Lydia’s going. Everyone’s happy to pick her because she makes logical decisions and what not. Little surprised White didn’t pick one of their number, since they have the majority. Probably trying to make it up to Red after the Elimination stuff.
Time to say goodbye to everyone, Lydia, as you head off for The Walk.
TOMORROW NIGHT!
Which power will Lydia choose?
Also, training for the girls is about discovering what’s holding them back. They’re going to write things that have been said to them on pieces of paper and then kick and punch at them. Or something like that.
And Temptation is a “five star Temptation”? Some very fancy food while they’re all dolled up and sitting at a table and served by fancy waiters and and and. Mmmm, food!
