TBL 7×07 – Temptation! So many delicious foods, so little time.

Previously on The Biggest Loser… Fat people fighting and it ISN’T over food? What the hell, man? Next you’ll be trying to tell me Commando Steve is hot.

After the Elimination Margie copped a lot of flak over her decision to send Selena home after an unprecedented offer from Hayley to not require anyone be sent home.
This is likely to simmer in the background for quite a while to come, unless she’s the next to be sent packing.

The first Contest of the year saw the old bulls of the Black Team walk away with the win sending Shane on… The Walk!
But it’s not The Walk we’re used to seeing with a new underground route to the new-old military bunker looking box selection area. Thing.

Shane was offered a choice between power over food, power over training or power over something mysterious. Shane chose the mystery box because, well, everyone likes a good mystery!

TONIGHT! We find out what the hell was in the box. Just what power will Shane/Black be given? And will it cause them all to be the new demons of the competition…

Also, training on the beach and a new Temptation kicks off. It feels like they’re packing quite a bit into each episode but gee, it’d be nice if they’d start something and resolve it in one episode, wouldn’t it?

Anyway, after all the teaser footage and replayed footage we finally get going. Hurry up, Shane, get back to Loser Lounge and tell us what was in the box!

Before that happens we get a couple of quick shots from Biggest Brother Loser’s spy cameras. Still no reveal!

Everyone, trainers included, is waiting in Loser Lounge for Shane to come back and he finally makes an appearance. Get onnnnn with it!

As Shane reveals the first two box labels to the contestants everyone gets very nervous. Nobody wants their food or training messed with this early.

But Shane picked the Mystery Box and inside it…? The letter says an eliminated contestant will be coming back. And since there’s only been one so far that means Selena will be coming back.

And Margie looks super thrilled by that prospect! Pretty much everyone else in the room is happy about it though, which is nice to see.
Margie tells us she feels a little bit uncomfortable because of what she had to go through when they sent Selena home.

Yes, it must have been terrible actually having to face up to the consequences of your shitty decision. Boohoo.

Shane also says that Selena won’t have to face Elimination this week, regardless of White’s position on the board, but she’ll be back in the mix next week.

Shannan’s got a big grin on his face and says White must be over the moon and Tiff says she was very worried about Selena and felt she really needed more time at Camp.

Brenda’s relieved that Selena’s got another chance and says she thinks they all felt a lot of guilt about Selena leaving. Not so sure Margie’s sharing that guilt, Brenda.

Black retreat to their room for a chat and Shane is happy. Alex says he thinks everyone is happy about Selena getting to come back and Shane says it didn’t look like Margie was too happy!

And back in Loser Lounge the Red and White Teams are chatting about the decision.
Margie says it shouldn’t’ve happened, she thinks it’s pathetic and Selena shouldn’t be allowed back in.
White… seem unimpressed. And not sure Red’s too thrilled with her attitude either.

Bek asks Margie if she’s worried about the fallout between herself and Selena and Margie says she doesn’t care what Selena thinks. She says they went in there to vote and they were going to vote for Hamish but she changed her mind. She didn’t know the other girls weren’t wanting to vote.
What Margie said was still the truth and she still feels Selena deserved her fate.

Lisa looks unimpressed. Brenda says to us that she thought it was a little bit harsh, what Margie was saying.

Meanwhile Lydia’s got a grin on her face and chimes in to agree. Selena should have to do what the rest of her team do and what everyone else in the house has to do.
Yeah, she should, and you had the chance to give her a second bite at that deliciously healthy cherry. But you chose not to.

Lisa says to the others that she hopes Selena will take this second opportunity and Kasey says much the same.

Margie then says it’s like a kick in the teeth. If she gets voted out this week will she get a second chance to come back?

Well, no, you won’t, not after being a gigantic cunt about not giving Selena a second chance. And even if you do get that chance surely you would turn it down, right? How long do they have to hold your hand and blah blah blah.

But enough of that, it’s time for a training session. And today that session will be at the beach, hooray! Fun in the surf and sun and sand, right?

Mish says she doesn’t think so!

Red’s been distracted by the Elimination and the fallout but Mish tells them all that that’s just part of the game. You bought the ticket, time to take the ride. Mish knows what she’s doing and she proved that with their numbers on the scales.

First up the girls are doing soft sand sprints though Brenda’s got an ankle injury and is instead having to do soft sand commando crawling. Go go go!
But she’s going very slow and wallowing in the pain. Mish does an impression of her for us, “I don’t like this, it hurtssss!” Then deadpans, “Keep going.” Oh, Mish!

After an ad break Mish is leaning over and encouraging Brenda to go faster. If I had that cleavage hovering over me I’d do whatever the voice told me to do, too.

Mish asks Brenda if she’s given up that easy before, in the past? Though she didn’t give up then, but there were moments.
Brenda says she doesn’t give up, but she does sook a lot.

Mish tells her she’s proud of Brenda for having lost 8kg, which is about 1kg for every year she’d been trying to lose weight previously. Which raises the question – why didn’t she do it before?
Mish thinks maybe she just didn’t want to drop the weight before. It wasn’t petty stuff she needed to do it for, it was for important things like having a baby.
She’s upset about having lost the opportunity to have a baby, but Mish says she can lose the weight. She can really do it!

Mish tells the other ladies that this is the stuff she’ll be talking about with them, too. Stuff that’s holding them back, stuff that they’re maybe not proud of, but it’s all things they need to get out in the open to make some progress.

Session ends with a big hug from Mish, awww!

Blue Team are working out on the steep set of stairs up the foreshore.
Shannan wants Hamish to push hard today. He’s got three of the boys set to get up the stairs in 30 seconds and giving Hamish a generous 40 seconds. I assume because his fitness level and his height make him the slowest at stair climbing.

Hamish’s Dad used to be a big pro cyclist, even competing in the Tour de France back when Hamish was very young and it’s something Hamish would love to do with his Dad some day. Cycling is pretty fun, dude. But you’re not getting on any kind of normal bike at your current weight.

Hamish gets to the top of the stairs and Shannan turns him around to go straight back down and Hamish is grunting and groaning and stalling a lot. Shannan tells us that pushing the contestants far out of their comfort zone is necessary. Brutal, but necessary.

Hamish needs to let go of the fear, man up and toughen up, Shannan insists.

For another run up the stairs Shannan’s following him up with a hand in the small of his back. And he makes the last run in 35 seconds, so Shannan knows Hamish’s body can do more than his mind is letting him do at the moment.
James is happy to see the determination in Hamish’s eyes today.

Meanwhile, White’s workout involves weights and running back and forth and diving into the sand and running up and down the stairs. She lost 8kg at the weigh-in so Tiff knows she’s going to have to be pushed hard this week to combat the shock of losing so much weight so soon.
Michelle tells us she has dodgy knees, which she knows is an excuse, but whatever, they hurt! But she’s pushing through the pain and gets it done.

But they’re not done! Run up a sand ramp. High fives from Tiff at the top!

Then commando crawl back down. Though it’s really more of a baby crawl from most of the girls.

Michelle gets most of the way down but then the waterworks start and Tiff kneels beside her to ask what’s wrong. Training outside isn’t agreeing with her, it seems. Michelle has anxiety problems, she reveals, and has been on medication for three years to try and control it. The meds let her sort of function something like “normal”. She’s not sure what caused it originally but she can manage it, normally.
She doesn’t like being in crowds because she feels people will be judging her and can’t make eye contact with boys. And with cleavage like that I suspect boys aren’t looking for eye contact anyway…

Tiff tells us Michelle is strong. She may be quiet and timid but she’s got a warrior inside. After seeing her at The Contest I wholeheartedly agree.
It’s always the quiet ones!

Tiff thinks the reality has set in for White because they’ve realised they really could be sent home if they face Elimination and they desperately don’t want that to happen.

Next day they’re woken at the crack of dawn for a trip to… THE VAULT!

The what now? It’s a vault in some building somewhere. Perhaps some kind of bank? Or art gallery? Or other place where a vault would be required but the gigantic table of delicious treats would surely not be required.

Yes, it’s time for Temptation and they’re in one of Sydney’s most secure vaults for it this time.
Last week they didn’t get tempted, not even by the possibility of having Immunity!

But what if the Temptation this week was something a bit more?

Like, say, $30,000 in gold bullion?

Everyone’s eyes light up at that. That’s a lot of money for most people.

They walked through what Hayley describes as “Food Heaven”. All the bad foods they used to eat, all the bad foods that got them there in the first place. And they’ll have the room all to themself for five minutes!
They’ll be away from the prying eyes of fellow contestants and free to eat or not without anyone knowing.

So the Temptation is simple – whoever eats the most calories, wins! That could be as low as 50 calories or something well over 2,000.

Given that you have five minutes in the room surely the smart way to go is to eat something worth 50 calories as soon as you get in and then do 4-ish minutes of cardio work to burn it right back off?

Bek thinks the room full of food is unbelievable. All her favourite foods are on the table! If she’d gone to a party before coming on the show she’d’ve thought she’d hit the jackpot if that was the food table.
And she’s not going to lie and say she doesn’t want to eat them. She does want to, but she’s not going to risk losing the weight for the sake of $30,000. Can’t put a price on your life like that, she says.
Good girl!

Luke’s next. He’s really enjoying the smells coming off all the foods and you don’t get to see that sort of food in the house too often.
We don’t see Luke partake but when he comes out he’s got a bit of tomato sauce on his shirt and Bek picks up on that and asks him how good the sausage rolls were, as if she’d eaten one too. Luke says the smell drew him in and he had to have one as well.

But Bek tells us she doesn’t believe a word of Luke’s confession. He didn’t eat anything either, she thinks.

Brenda’s in the room “alone”. Even though there’s obviously at least a camera man and the security guard in the room with her.
Brenda loves cheese. And champagne. But mostly cheese.

Mr Security Guard finally calls time and Brenda is escorted from the room. To try and play mind games with Bek and Luke by implying she ate a cheese and bacon roll.
Don’t think any of them really ate anything.

Ryan’s turn. He’s eyeing everything off very carefully. He’s pondering taking one little thing just in case nobody else plays. All he can hear in his head is Shannan’s voice telling him he’s living his life like a party.
“But what’s a few chocolates?” It’s that attitude that got you on the show, dude!
We don’t see if he eats any either. Perhaps because he resisted, as well?

Graham says the room smells fantastic as well and $30,000 is a lot of money… But he’s there to lose weight.

And now it’s Hamish’s turn. He’ll surely be tempted having already faced Elimination.
But we’re straight onto Shane. “Mmmm, sausage rolls.” *homer drool*

As we pan back over the table as James exits the room we can see what used to be a cheese platter, now minus the cheese. Did James eat it? Or someone before him and we just didn’t see it before? Hmmmm.

Margie’s turn. She’s very hungry and she’s really tempted to eat the food because of that.
Simon wanders in and looks around.
Alex has a look around, wafts the smell from a sausage roll into his face. They do have one of the best smells, don’t they? The really good ones?

As many of the contestants make it to the back room they’re all joking around about who ate what and what the trainers will say. Margie asks James what he ate and James… gives very noncommittal answers. I don’t think he really wants to talk to Margie!

Lisa’s looking around and then… grabs a Freddo Frog and stuffs it straight into her gob. She figures someone would probably go for the minimum 50 calorie option so she’s going to go a bit higher and eat a 70 calorie chocolate. Not a bad idea, Lisa!

Lydia’s also got a good plan. She jogs around the table for five minutes and if she can resist the food doing that then that’s a big step forward.
Though she says it’s a good thing there’s no bacon on the table as she has a bit of a fetish for bacon.
BAD THOUGHTS. BAD.

Lydia trots out of the room afterwards and has a sniff around the room.

Lisa’s hoping she’s pulled it off and outsmarted the opposition.

Hayley comes back and asks them how they found temptation. Someone calls out “Tempting!”
Luke had a bit of a slip, he says, but he actually didn’t have a sausage roll, he just stuck his finger in some sauce and artfully placed it on his shirt. Funny man!

Hayley confirms that some of them were indeed tempted.

But only two of them. TWO! Which means Lisa and someone else. So either Lisa’s about to be a great deal richer or… someone’s going to get flogged in training!

After an ad break Hayley gears up to reveal who did what.

The people who were tempted? Lisa! Quite a lot of shocked looks around the room.

She ate some chocolate, 70 calories worth. But she’s already planning on working it off.

Which brings us to… James. With a very smug look on his face. Luke looks disgusted.

James had not one, but two colas.
A delicious cheese platter.
And some chocolate.
James is still grinning and looking proud of himself.

Total calories? 960!

Luke is absolutely filthy. Ryan tells us he feels sick, that’s their daily intake. NO, IT ISN’T. Especially not when you’re eating three steaks at dinner, fatty.

James won by a country mile, Hayley says. Luke says he’d better start running that country mile to get the calories off!

James is now $30,000 richer.

Or so he thinks. Before he can take the money, he needs to know one thing.

In order to be in the money, he can’t be in the house.

OUCH.

James is shocked and resorts to a rub of his scraggly-ass beard a couple of times while it sinks in.

The $30,000 will also be deducted from the $250,000 prize money.

However, he has another option. Reject the money and you’ll be rewarded.

Rewarded with Immunity.

Leave $30,000 richer or stay for at least one more week and potentially more? That’s a seriously tough choice.

But he’ll only have to make it tomorrow.

James will have to work out, in the rain, with the bullion in a safe case handcuffed to his wrist. Shannan’s trying to convince him that the money won’t buy his way out of a box so he can’t take it in the end but I guess he has the rest of the day to decide?
Luke’s still going to be fuming at him, too. Surprise!

The next weekly Challenge will also be herded into the paddock. Really, it’s a paddock, with sheep and what else do you do with sheep but herd them around a paddock till the meat pops off them ready to go to the supermarket?
