TBL 7×05 – Elimination Extravaganza! Drama Ahoy! Someone Get The Popcorn!

Previously on The Biggest Loser… I forget. It was so long ago. How are we supposed to remember what happened multiple days ago?

It’s gonna take a MONTAGE!

Previously on The Biggest Loser the contestants were plucked from around the country by their trainers and brought to Camp in the middle of quite the storm. After drying out they weighed in for the first time, trained for the first time, had Temptation for the first time and started a Challenge for the first time.

Tonight they finish a Challenge for the first time, have a competitive weigh-in for the first time, have an Elimination for the first time and have their first post-Elimination barney.
Should be fun!

As the episode picks up we’re still rowing our boats down the stream alongside the teams. Black’s still in the lead and the Red team is still nipping at their heels in a sprint to the finish.

Of course the burly men win in the end but it’s a mighty effort from the Red Team to pull in second. Mish doesn’t mind as her team gave it their all.

Blue are still struggling while White are a long way behind but sort of working together? Better than the Blues who got there more through luck!

Steve’s very proud of his team and pleased they’ll now get the 2kg advantage at the weigh-in.

Meanwhile Selena’s exhausted after the exertion and has to be helped off the boat and up into the shade. Her team rallies around her to fan air into her face and pass her a cool drink so it’s good to see them sticking together as a unit. Blue could learn something from that!

But now it’s time for the first competitive weigh-in. Complete with the giant banners with everyone’s pictures up on the wall.
As if they weren’t nervous enough now they have gigantic versions of themselves looking down on them!

Hayley reminds them all of their promises to do well, not quit and find love. You know the drill. They all want to start making babies with everyone but they’re all too fat so far. Time to get skinny and bump bits!

But first, the Yellow Line is back! The two teams with the highest percentage will be above the Yellow Line and safe. The two with the lowest percentage will fall below the Line and will face Elimination.

And first to weigh-in will be the Red Team.

Margie’s very nervous but Mish has given her a pep talk. Margie says Mish has set her a great training program and Mish’s eyes bulge out when she gets angry. Mish previously looked a bit unimpressed but that got a chuckle out of her. Still, sensing a little tension there!

Margie Start: 159.1kg
Margie Current: 150.7kg
Margie Loss: 8.4kg

She’s super excited! Does a bit of a chubby dance and gets a hug from Mish when she gets back.

Brenda Start: 120.8kg
Brenda Current: 113.1kg
Brenda Loss: 7.7kg

Lisa Start: 104.2kg
Lisa Current: 98.2kg
Lisa Loss: 6kg

Lydia Start: 141.9kg
Lydia Current: 131.6kg
Lydia Loss: 10.3kg

Red Team Total: 32.4kg
Red Team Percentage: 6.16%

Wow, Lydia did exceptionally well! Hayley tells her it’s one of the biggest numbers from a female in the first week.
Lydia says her Dad would be proud of her. She knows how sad he was when she first weighed in but she’ll never be that person again!

Seems to be a lot of attention on Lydia. DUN DUN DUN!

Next up, White Team!

Kasey Start: 132.8kg
Kasey Current: 125.9kg
Kasey Loss: 6.9kg

Michelle Start: 110.4kg
Michelle Current: 102.4kg
Michelle Loss: 8kg

Bek Start: 126.3kg
Bek Current: 121kg
Bek Loss: 5.3kg

Selena Start: 163.5kg
Selena Current: 158.7kg
Selena Loss: 4.8kg

White Team Total: 25kg
White Team Percentage: 4.69%

Not a good result from Selena. She’s disappointed. Hayley points out it’s nearly five kilos!
Hayley says she bets Selena’s sister would be proud.
Selena gets a big hug from all the White Team as she gets back to the stands.

Blue Team’s turn!
“Shannan, how did the Blue Team work this week?” “Not real good.” Shannan says he’s struggling to find anything positive to say. Two of his boys have been mollycoddled their whole lives and they’re having trouble stepping out of their comfort zone.

Hayley says that to beat the White Team they need to lose at least 31.6kg. That should be quite easy for four big guys in their first week at Camp.

Luke Start: 145.2kg
Luke Current: 137.3kg
Luke Loss: 7.9kg

Not good enough, outdone by some of the girls. Even some of the girls who are much lighter. So it’s not just on the other three slackers!
Luke’s dream is to buy a pub and find someone who loves and respects him and to have kids. He’s getting emotional, why’s that, Hayley wonders.
Maybe because you’re deliberately jabbing a stick into his feelings? Der.
Luke’s Dad would be proud, he says.

Shannan has a stupid grin on his face. :-D

Hamish’s turn. He’s worried he’ll have let the Team down.

Hamish Start: 148.7kg
Hamish Current: 143.8kg
Hamish Loss: 4.9kg

That’s abysmal. He gets a round of applause but realistically he should have done at least twice that in the first week.
He promises he’s going to try harder in the weeks to come and break through his comfort barriers.

Ryan Start: 241kg
Ryan Current: 228.4kg
Ryan Loss: 12.6kg

For such a huge unit that’s a pretty good result, but realistically he could have got more, too.
Ryan says what Shannan said was spot on, he dropped the ball in the first week but to still have his team support him and them pulling together over the last day is very promising.

James needs to lose at least 6.2kg to beat the White Team.

James Start: 136.3kg
James Current: 126.4kg
James Loss: 9.9kg

He gets a big cheer from his Team and a round of applause.

Blue Team Total: 35.3kg
Blue Team Percentage: 5.26%

That’s enough to put them in second place but not safe from Elimination yet.
White Team, however, will definitely be facing Elimination. Awwww, poor ninjas!

Black Team need 36.9kg to beat the Blue Team. Again, four big guys, that should be easy! Especially with their 2kg weight advantage from the Challenge.
But with Alex having a bung leg that leaves it down to the other three for the most part.
Steve says he’s pushed them as hard as he can and he’s got some walking wounded now, but the final judge is the scales.

Graham Start: 209.3kg
Graham Current: 198kg
Graham Loss: 11.3kg

A good first week for Graham, already under 200kg is well on the way.

Shane Start: 164.8kg
Shane Current: 154.7kg
Shane Loss: 10.1kg

Simon Start: 164.3kg
Simon Current: 154.4kg
Simon Loss: 9.9kg

That leaves Alex. He needs 5.6kg total to get them over the line. Alex has a big boot on his foot to support his achilles but they take it off long enough for him to hop on the fake scales. Wouldn’t want to spoil the illusion!

Alex Start: 161.6kg
Alex Current: 150.9kg
Alex Loss: 10.7kg

Black Team Total: 42kg
Plus Weight Advantage: 44kg
Black Team Percentage: 6.29%

First place! Alex with a huge loss given his gimpy leg. He’s very happy.
Alex says he worked really hard, with weights in bed and everything. He expects the improved diet also helped a lot.

So this means the two young teams will be facing Elimination. Only one person from each Team has to face Elimination. Yep, they’ve got to pick from amongst themselves a sacrificial goose. Black and Red will then get to vote on which of the two they want to send home.

Oh dear, this isn’t going to end well.

Blue and White sit down to have a chat amongst themselves.

Hamish immediately volunteers himself since he was the lowest number this week. James tries to make sure Hamish understands what he’s taking on and Hamish says it’s the ethical decision.
James is thinking strategy though. Of some kind that isn’t spelled out.

White’s considering putting Bek up because they think people like her and won’t vote her out?

Realistically the other teams would be fools to vote out a White since it’s always better to eliminate men from the competition. ALWAYS.

Red and Black file into the Elimination Room after an ad break. The Elimination Room is just the weigh-in room this year.

And as the potential eliminees are revealed it’s… Selena and Hamish? Ouch. Neither of them can’t do it on the outside.

Lisa says it’s hard now it’s reality. Alex says it’s sad because they both still have a lot to learn at Camp and it will be one of the hardest decisions of his life.

Can see why it’s caused drama, now!

Hamish is scared and nervous, but he nominated himself because he felt that was the ethical choice, since he lost the least and therefore let the team down.

Selena is also nervous. Her team voted between herself and Bek and Michelle apparently said Selena hadn’t been working hard. Though Selena thinks she has been pushing herself. Margie looks unhappy, not sure why. Graham’s shaking his head and says he thinks she needs it more than the other three on her team. She needs the help.

Lydia says she thinks Selena deserves to be sitting there! Yikes!
Lydia asks how many chances do you keep giving people? Selena was told to keep drinking water and sticking to the meal plan and she wasn’t doing those things. Lydia understands that Selena needs to be there but so do the other members of her team and they’ve been doing what was asked of them. Margie nods her head at that so I guess that’s why she was unhappy!

Selena would like to say something! She’s been giving 100% in training, she says, but hasn’t been giving 100% to herself.

Margie says she just doesn’t get it – Selena hasn’t been training hard, not at all. And she said the other day she wanted to eat pasta and rice and overeating! Selena denies that, saying she misses her food, yes, but she didn’t want to eat it.
Then Selena admits she hasn’t been giving it 100% at all, just giving it a “tough go.” If she didn’t want to lose the weight she wouldn’t be there.

Hoo boy, this is going to be hairy!

If it’s a hung vote it’ll come down to the lowest weightloss percentage, in this instance that will be Selena.

Red and Black Teams, before you reveal your vote there’s something you need to know, Hayley tells them. Whether someone goes home tonight or not is completely up to them. They can choose NOT to send someone home tonight.

Oh crap. Oh crap oh crap oh crap.

And the decision not to send someone home MUST BE UNANIMOUS. Meaning just one person sending someone home will mean someone goes home.

Soooo that’s why the trainers are up in arms! Obviously someone’s getting sent home!

If nobody reveals their votes then nobody gets eliminated.

Man, this is some serious bullshit right here.

Hamish’s last plea is that he and his team have started to bond and he wants to stick with them and turn his fate around.
Selena says she hasn’t learned to live on the outside and she needs to stay long enough to get her act together.

Alex is called to vote first.

AND ALEX CHOOSES NOT TO SEND ANYONE HOME! Good lad, I’m liking him more and more.

Margie’s turn next. Will she be first to break? Find out after the… uhh… break!

Margie starts out by saying it’s not easy to send someone home. But she knows the effort one person has put in and the other person hasn’t. And when does the penny drop for them? And if Margie was sitting down the end and she hadn’t been doing the work she’d expect to go home.

Margie’s the first to reveal her vote… and she’s voted for Selena!
She says it’s not easy, Selena needs to be there, but so did Hamish. And Hayley says that if she wanted them both to stay, they could’ve! But Margie says she came there to vote and it came down to who did the most work.
Hayley suggests Margie is playing the game and Margie, rightly, points out that if she was playing the game she’d’ve voted out Hamish.

Graham wanted them both to stay but that’s not an option anymore.
But Graham chooses not to burden himself with any guilt and chooses not to send anyone home. Even though it’s ultimately a meaningless gesture it does show that the Black Team seem to be the nicest Team thus far!

Lisa is also voting… But she’s voted for Hamish! So she’s clearly playing the game. Can’t blame her for that, of course, but it’s surprising. I thought the Red Team would have voted as a bloc.

So, one vote each.

Simon’s up next. He thought it was great that they could both stay and he was going to go along with that but once the first vote was cast he thought opinions were needed. Brenda’s nodding her head along with him. HMMM!
Anyway, one team has a potential to be very strong in the future so he’s voted tactically and is choosing to vote Hamish. “Love ya, mate!” Hamish takes it as a compliment, as he should.

Brenda thought she’d vote with her head and strategically, but she needs to stay true to her heart. Meaning she’s voted for Selena as well.

Two votes all, again.

One more vote will send Selena home by virtue of lowest weightloss percentage.

Shane wasn’t going to reveal his vote but he feels he has to now. Dude, no you don’t. Abstain! Take the high road!

Nope, Shane’s voted Selena as well.

Man, no wonder the trainers are pissed!

Selena’s in tears and gets a pat on the back from Hamish.

Lydia’s vote isn’t needed. Pretty safe bet she’d voted Selena too though.

Selena knows she’ll now have to give 100% on the outside.

Selena, you are not The Biggest Loser. Time to leave!

Really thought she’d make it past the first Elimination, quite surprising. She’s determined to turn her life around as she leaves. Don’t think most of the Red Team got a hug…

Tomorrow night, DRAMA! Infighting! Trainers might have to hold each other back from beating the shit out of Margie who’s apparently not going to take any stick for being the one responsible for sending someone home when they didn’t have to.
She’s even going to throw a couch cushion at Steve on her way out. Seriously. COMMANDO STEVE. The one most likely to snap and rip your fucking head off.
Smart!

Also, The Contest is back for another year. Four champions face off in a test of endurance as they compete for a “tantalising” prize. Cookies?
