TBL 7×02: New World Record And Training Begins!

Previously on The Biggest Loser sixteen overweight singles got roped into visiting Fat Camp!

The contestants began their first weigh-in at Camp but we only got part way through before they decided to cut us off.

Tonight, the rest of the weigh-ins and then the training begins. Will one of Tiffiny’s charges walk out of the competition on the first day? Surely not!

As we pick up the episode after the rubbish new intro we’re listening to Bek talk about her fear. Bek is Rebekah. Stop messing with the names, gosh!

Over 30 men weigh-in resumes tonight with Alex hopping up onto the scales again.

Alex’s Weight: 161.6kg

That’s a lot of weight but not the record! He looks ridiculous up on the scales, pretty much a potato. He thought he was fewer kilograms than that.
Alex’s sister is there for support and she’s proud of him and hoping he can turn his life around with this chance he’s got.
Alex thinks he’s one of the luckiest people on Earth. Let’s see if he still thinks so after 10 minutes of training!

Simon’s turn next.

Simon’s Weight: 164.3kg

Simon’s obviously quite a bit taller than Alex and thus doesn’t look quite as bad. He wants to set a better example for his kids. He’s in that situation because of his own actions and his kids deserve better. The kids are from a broken family because of his weight, he says.
He promises that he won’t fail them. Causing one of his kids to wipe away a tear. He says his Dad’s done a good job of raising them so far and he needn’t worry about it, he’s proud of his Dad. Awwwww!

Shane’s turn. His Mum’s there for moral support. His Mum is easily large enough to be a contestant herself. I’d hazard a guess she actually weighs more than her son does.

Shane’s Weight: 164.8kg

Another around that magic 160kg mark. What’s with that?
He’s afraid that the doctors might be right in their predictions ten years ago – he might only have fifteen more years on the planet.

Graham’s missed out on love and a lot of other things because of his size.

Graham’s Weight: 209.3kg

YIKES. He’s obviously a big unit but that’s still very surprising.
He’s not the new record holder though.
He’s never had a girlfriend and his weight is the reason why. His Mum says she’s proud of him and it’d be great to see him find love. Awww!

Under 30 girls now. First off, Michelle!
She’s sick of settling for what she has. Never had a boyfriend, never been on a date, hopefully that will change soon!

Michelle’s Weight: 110.4kg

She’s trying to hold back the tears as she announces her weight. One of the Red girls is actually crying more than her though!
Michelle can’t remember the last time she felt beautiful or pretty. She doesn’t like herself.
She grew up thinking she’ll meet her knight in shining armour. Meanwhile James is looking at her with that look in his eyes. Helloooooooo!
Michelle loves to sing… OH GOD NO. Yes, she gets coaxed into singing. Oh good, I’ve really missed The Biggest Fattest Idol Loser.
James has his hand over his mouth in shock and says wow afterwards. Yep, there’s a duet in the future. Maybe not love, but certainly some singing and guitarring!
Michelle sang a song her Mum wrote, apparently.

Next up is Kasey!

Kasey’s Weight: 132.8kg

She’s fat, obviously, but it’s hard to see how she’s that much more than Michelle. Until we see the underwearmirror shot. Her bum is HUGE. There’s really no other way to describe it. She’s going to shrink down so good! Bum fat disappears pretty well, pretty often, on this show. It takes a while, but she ought to get there.

Bek’s next.

Bek’s Weight: 126.3kg

She’s let herself get to this stage because she sees the person inside when she looks in the mirror, not the weight on the outside. And now she’s kind of trapped. She wants to fall in love and have a family and hopefully after losing the weight she’ll be able to do that.

Selena has her Dad, Step-Mum, younger sister and brother. Lots of peoples! Selena says she’d do anything for her little sister.

Selena’s Weight: 163.5kg

She’s visibly distraught and struggles to announce her weight. Her little sister is in tears. Selena knows she’s way too big for 22. She says she was bullied a lot in school, because she was overweight and deaf and indigenous.
She never approaches guys because why would they like her?
She wants to inspire her sister and brother, she wants to be the role model they look up to. Awwww!

The under 30 men are the last to weigh in, starting with Luke.

He’s worried he doesn’t have a future because of his weight.

Luke’s Weight: 145.2kg

He looks disappointed more than anything. He thinks now’s the time to get his life back on track.
He’s found it easier to reject himself than have someone else reject him. Awwww! Mish looks quite sad at the whole thing.

Next up, Hamish. HE HAS BOOBIES!
Worse, it looks like he has FOUR. Although two don’t have nipples, which is a little weird… I wonder if anyone’s really been born with four boobs. That’d be a real neat piece of trivia to know.
Aaaanyway.

Hamish’s Weight: 148.7kg

He feels lonely, being overweight and not having anyone love him.

James is next. He’s not had a girlfriend for a long time. He knows this will be tough, but worth it.

James’ Weight: 136.3kg

He’s got a smile on his face but he’s obviously using that to hide the pain. He thinks he’s failed, he’s not a man. He knows something needs to change. His Mum died of pancreatic cancer and his Dad died of heart failure while he was still young.
But he has three amazing siblings and one in Tasmania that loves him too. Guess they didn’t want to be on the show?
He says he deserves a chance.

Ryan’s the last to weigh-in. The record hasn’t been set yet so I think we all know what’s coming… Yep, ad break!

Ryan’s Weight: 241kg

TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY ONE KILOGRAMS! He’s an absolute mountain of a man. Everyone is dumbstruck.
Hayley finally breaks the silence by announcing he’s officially the biggest contestant in Biggest Loser history.
Shane feels for him. Shane might have five years but he reckons Ryan probably doesn’t have that.
Ryan knows this is his last chance.

Hayley has another figure for them.
The combined weight of all of them is… 2,430.2kg.

When you say it like that it doesn’t seem so bad!

Time to say goodbye to your friends and families and get down to business.

The contestants finally get to walk into the Loser Lounge. They’re all amazed and excited.

They check out the kitchen and the pantry and are suitably impressed by the scale of it all.

The various team logos on the walls have shots from their past around them. Hamish has a school photo, Simon’s got a very handsome shot from when he was a young fella, much to the delight of Lydia. Hmmm!

Black Team rocks up to their room and Simon’s disappointed to see they’re single beds. He’s not been in a single bed for a long time, he loves his queen size bed, it’s so wide!

Shannan’s got his team joggling along to the outdoor gym. Ryan and Hamish are Shannan’s biggest concerns. Before they even get to the gym they’ve got to get up some stairs and Shannan uses them as a chance to push them early.
Ryan’s struggling immensely, which isn’t so surprising for the biggest contestant ever. But man, he’s going to have many bigger challenges in the days ahead.

Hamish has hidden away his entire life, away from the torment and the bullies. And today the emotion has come charging out, Shannan says. He’s running around the ring roaring and then gets to Shannan and has to do twenty punches, which is pushing him way beyond his comfort zone. But Shannan wants him to keep pushing.
James helps him finish the last part of a lap and Shannan approves, telling them if they’re doing a lap and one falls behind, help them along. They’re a team. The Blue Team. No one gets left behind!

First day training is in the boxing gym because this is where warrior’s are made.
Shannan asks Hamish what the bullies used to do to him. Called him names like fatty boom-bah. And other bad names. It’s all the same, they’re bullies, it’s all just names and bashings.
Shannan asks him if he’s always wanted to look after himself and Hamish says yes. Shannan says it all starts here today!

They’ve been going for only 10 minutes and Ryan’s collapsed in the ring and Hamish is in tears. Shannan can tell this is going to be a long road!

Mish has her ladies in the indoor gym with the treadmills and the weights and other equipment. Mish knows they’re looking for love, but this comes first!

Lisa knew the training would be hard but experiencing it was another matter. She starts dry heaving into a bucket and Brenda’s got some sympathy upchuck happening behind another wall.

Then Mish has them out on the main stairs going up and down them. Lisa’s having to stop a lot, the other girls are managing to keep going. Mish thinks Lisa needs to toughen up mentally. She’s put herself through university as a single Mum so she can certainly do it, she has the strength inside her. She just has to tap into that.
The four have all worked hard and at the end Mish is very proud of them. They’re all showing they know it’s going to be hard but they’re prepared to do the work. It’s a good start for the Red Team.

After another ad break Tiffiny has her girls in her dojang. She’s seen them up on the scale and seen that they’re vulnerable and fragile and innocent.

Tiff thinks her greatest challenge will be Selena. She needs to get Selena fired up. Selena’s never worked so hard in her life and she says at one point she wanted to tear her hearing aid off and tell Tiffiny, “Fuck you!”
Tiff’s got her doing some boxing into the mitts and screaming while she does it. Selena’s telling us afterward that her whole body was screaming at her to just walk out but she didn’t, she stuck in there.
Tiff gets her to admit she’s not been a good role model to her brother and sister, but she wants to be a better one.
This is while they’re on their knees doing pushups annnnnnnd I can totally see down Tiffiny’s gi!

Selena says it’s going to take hard work and some brown blood. As a nursing student she should probably know that blood is the same colour in everyone, regardless of skin colour!

Tiffiny thinks Rebekah will be real trouble. Tiff thinks Bek’s in denial. She says she’s happy but no one that overweight is ever happy, Tiff tells us.
Tiff’s got her pedalling on one of the bikes while boxing into the mitts. Then gives her a pole to hold above her head while pedalling. She wants Bek to push over 100 but Bek thinks she can’t and keeps saying she can’t and even though she’s totally over 100 already she keeps insisting she can’t do it over 100 and screams as much at Tiff.

Then she throws the pole off behind Tiff (clearly, she has no energy left!) and Tiffiny tells her to get out of her dojang. Oooooh!

Tomorrow night, will Bek’s outburst cost her her spot on the show?
That seems quite unlikely. It’s not like Tiffiny couldn’t beat the crap out of her if it came to blows!

But we’ll see. I didn’t spot her in any of the rest of the teasers…

Also, dump truck full of blubber, contestants share their tales of woe and… the first Temptation of the season! Mmmm, delicious cakes and a WHEEL. OF. MISFORTUNE!
