TBL 6×50: Left. Left. Left Right Left. I left my wife in New Orleans…
Previously on The Biggest Loser Joe got sent home HAAAHAHAHAHa hahaha haaaaaa.
We had a replay of the old fatness versus the new skinniness with the time capsule video recordings they did so many months ago.
There was also another Contest, pitting the remaining contestants against each other with the loser being sent home…
Tonight we find out who loses the tug-o-war between Sarah and Rebecca to decide last place.
Later the yearly trek into the past begins, with contestants regaining their weightlosses via sandbags as they hike through sand dunes talking about how much they hated being so heavy and they’ll never go back to that, etc etc.
Rebecca dearly wants to win the tug-o-war to stay in the competition. Sarah wants to stay as well but she has a bung hand so she’s not sure she’ll be able to hold on well enough.
Leigh’s thinking Rebecca might have the strength to overcome Sarah. I think Leigh’s living in dream land. Sarah has a massive weight advantage, she ought to win easily.
And the first round goes as expected with Sarah winning quite easily.
Second round Rebecca puts up a much tougher fight. Kellie’s having trouble knowing who to cheer for as she’s related to both. So she’s just cheering them both on.
Second round also goes as expected with Rebecca losing again. So she’s being eliminated yet again!
She’s not upset though as she came back on a high and still leaving on a high.
You’re not the biggest loser so bugger orf!
Rebecca says her goodbyes. She tells us she’s proud of how far she’s come, making it into the top six and so on. And she knows she’ll get to see everyone again really soon!
Just five contestants are left and one more will be eliminated before the end of the week!
And now Michelle is talking about the dream outfits. They’re the dream outfits of their dreaming dreams. Dreamy!
Yes, it’s time for them to try on their dream outfits. Yay!
Sarah’s first to step in front of the mirror with her dream outfit on.
“I’ve hardly got a bum!” She says she feels good in her new outfit. Feels like a girl again!
Emma’s next. She feels beautiful, she says. She has a bogan Australian flag heart tattoo thing on her back. Ha!
She does look very good in her dress though.
Shannan says that the dream outfits signify how far they’ve come.
Leigh’s got some fairly simple casual clothes on. And a pimpin’ DJ hat! He’s amazed at the transformation. Even Steve’s got a grin on his face!
Kellie’s in her surf rescue uniform. She says she looks like a teenager again. She’s pleased she has a waistline again!
Nathaniel’s dream outfit is his hockey uniform. Mish wants him to think back to him sitting on the sidelines and dreaming of playing again.
Nathaniel’s struck dumb by his appearance. He barely recognises the guy in the mirror because that’s not what he thinks of himself looking like, still.
Next day they’re off to the sand dunes to begin their hike, though they don’t know it yet!
The trainers are there of course. Michelle’s talking them through it today. I guess Hayley didn’t want to traipse into the middle of nowhere?
Michelle says the reflection hike is something all the contestants always look back on. It might seem like a fun and exciting day (?! they never have, Mish!) but it’ll get very hard and emotional for them as they go through.
For those who haven’t seen it before there’s a series of gates set up over the course of the hike, each one representing a week in their time at Camp. The amount of weight they lost in that week is there for them in sandbags and they’ll load the bags into a big hiking backpack they get fitted with at the start.
They all know it’s going to be hard. Nate’s wondering how he’ll cope with more than 50kg on his back.
They’re all told to remember how they feel at the end just before they remove the backpacks and promise themselves they’ll never go back to that.
All of them have hiking sticks this time. Two of them. I guess they’ve learned from previous seasons!
First station, most recent weightloss, shouldn’t be too bad for most of them. Pretty small losses but Sarah and Nathaniel both give little “oofs” as their weight slips into their pack.
Michelle says, “Just you wait, mate!”
Week 11 was Face Your Fears and Leigh didn’t. He walked away from it. He felt like he’d let himself down as much as anything.
But since coming back they’d chatted and Leigh turned the corner. The real Leigh, the confident cocky Leigh has come back. Shannan says he can see it in Leigh’s eyes now, he’s a totally different bloke.
Week 10 was Makeover Week. Sarah was very happy that week, she’d never felt that beautiful before. She’d never felt like a lady before, she says, with the heels and a dress and her makeup done.
Sarah’s up to 8.5kg now and you can tell she’s starting to feel it.
Still quite a bit to go yet!
Kellie says it actually feels good to be hiking her way to Week 9. Immunity Week, 24 hour Temptation, one of the ones she succumbed to. She tells Steve she can’t eat that stuff anymore, her head was pounding and she felt terrible.
She also came close to winning the challenge that week, a close second to Leigh, which made her feel like an athlete again.
Meanwhile Sarah’s getting her gurn on as Steve puts more weight into her pack.
Nathaniel got to go home for a bit and lost 13.8kg for Week 8 as a result. So that’s the size of the bag he’s got next. He lost that in four weeks, all told, but this makes it more impressive I guess.
Nate says the bag is so very heavy and Mish asks him if he wants her to put it in his pack and he says no, not really! But go on…
He now has 16.9kg in his pack, Michelle says. As it drops down to the bottom of the pack Nathaniel grunts and says “Shit!”
Leigh won the Pyramid of Fitness, becoming the Ultimate Loser Athlete. He was so proud of himself for not just competing, but winning at it. He went in focused and determined, it was one of the best weeks of his life!
Time to wander to Week 7. And it’s one of the biggest hills in the hike. Tiffiny says all she can see is a mountain of sand. Only because you’re so tiny, Tiff!
Steve’s trying to coach them along, saying to walk in the footsteps of the people ahead, it’ll make it easier.
Leigh’s not bothered. He’s heading right up there, ahead of everyone, just powering up the hill.
Nathaniel’s not making any excuses, he says the old Nathaniel would’ve but not today. Just get through it.
When they get to Week 7 Tiffiny has 14.8kg to put in Emma’s backpack. Poor tiny Tiffiny is struggling just lifting it up and into Emma’s backpack. Should’ve got one of the big tall boys to help you!
Emma nearly topples backwards onto Tiff but manages to regain her balance.
Nathaniel’s almost up to 20kg in his pack, sun beating down and they’re walking in sand. Michelle says it’s no mean feat and he’s starting to feel it.
Sarah’s still making a bunch of faces as Steve loads some more weight in. He asks if he needs to say anything and she says she thinks her face said it all!
Leigh’s finding it frustrating being so heavy again, everything’s an effort.
Week 5 was when Kellie ate a bunch of chocolate buttons to get to spend some time at home with her family. She was struggling at that point and thinking about quitting because she felt like she’d abandoned her kids.
But once she got home she realised the kids were in good hands and they’d be fine without her. And now she’s got through to the Final Five and it’s all been worth it.
Week 5 was also when it was just Emma and Meg on the White Team. They mended a lot of fences in that week and really bolstered their friendship. Emma dumped a lot of emotional baggage that week and that was the start of a brand new, much better relationship.
Tiffiny says that sometimes working through stuff is just as important as working out.
Kellie’s up to 29.3kg at Week 4. She has no idea how she used to walk around like that every day of her life. It used to hurt all the time.
Emma’s running out of room in her backpack. She’s up to 35.1kg and she bursts into tears once it all gets loaded in. She’s sad that she ever let it get to that. Her back and legs hurt a lot and she’s starting to doubt herself, she tells us.
Tiff says Emma’s returning to the girl she first met. She’s not moving as well, she’s out of breath. The weight is clearly breaking her down.
Well, that’s the point!
They get to another hill leading up to Week 3. Not as big a hill but Nathaniel actually jogs up the hill.
What would Christopher, his elder brother with cerebral palsy who recently passed away, think if he looked down on Nathaniel right now? His brother would be proud of him, Nathaniel thinks.
After the death of his brother is when Nathaniel’s weight really spiralled out of control. Things got really bad for him and there was some days when he wouldn’t even get out of bed, he got so depressed.
Nathaniel can now say his brother would be proud of him, Mish says.
Time to trek to Week 2!
Kellie’s not sure she can make it, she’s in so much pain. Boohoo, she has one of the lightest weights on her back. Get over it!
Week 2 was when Leigh “won” $25,000 at Temptation. But to keep it he’d have to leave Camp Biggest Loser. Which he ultimately decided against. He’s got no regrets about it now, either. Biggest Loser gave him his life back which the $25,000 couldn’t’ve got him.
Emma’s got to add 10kg to her pack at Week 1. She’s glad she’s done the hike, even though it’s painful. She knows it’s good to feel how bad she felt when she started to remind her.
Sarah’s finally in tears with her last sandbag. She says it’s brought back all the bad feelings again.
Nathaniel says this is what he used to be, though you’d’ve never seen him at the beach before. And hell yes he’s done with it!
Leigh’s also confident he won’t go back.
Kellie’s missed so much of her son’s first year of life, but it’s all been worth it because she knows she’ll be living with them instead of just existing.
Now it’s time to head to the finish line. Sarah says every part of her is aching and she’s looking forward to taking the weight back off.
They’re all struggling now. Nathaniel’s struggling for every step but with about 20 metres to go Michelle says he just thought, to hell with it. And he runs to the end. Well done, Nate!
Mish says to them all again that when they take the backpacks off, promise themselves they’ll never get back to that weight again.
Shannan gets them all to stand up straight, pokerface, tall and proud as the Final Five. The trainers all give them a round of applause.
Nathaniel’s the first to get his pack off and as the weight falls off him he almost floats away with the breeze.
Emma knows she never has to go back to that awful again. She feels like she’s floating, too.
Kellie has her pack taken off and… it doesn’t make all that much difference to her countenance.
Sarah on the other hand, gurns up a storm and nearly falls over. Then she breaks down and thanks Steve and gives him a huge hug. Steve says it’s great to see her achieving things and he knows she’s never going back there.
Leigh takes his pack off and squares up with Shannan, pumping his fists with a grin on his face.
Tomorrow night… TRAIN THE TRAINERS DAY!!! Shit yeah!
And this time there’s four trainers to feel the burn.
Then there’ll be a race against a 4WD car? Off-road race? Looks like good muddy fun!
And then… can Leigh conquer his fear of heights by jumping out of an airplane in a tandem skydive?
