TBL 6×44: What shall we do with a drunken sailor?

Previously on The Biggest Loser… THE SEA WAS ANGRY. So sayeth Mr Voiceover Man.

Tonight we find out if Sharlene’s okay after her tumble last night. The contestants arrive in Hobart at last and Fears Week gets even more serious.
There’s abseiling off buildings and running up hills with blizzards blowing over them and all the usual fun stuff we associate with a trip away from “home”.

As the episode picks up they’re still battling their way through Storm Bay. They can’t turn around and go back, they have to keep on going.
Oh, wait, this is still replay footage. Sharlene just hit the deck again. Ow!

As they drag Sharlene belowdecks – took four of them to manhandle her down there, between the rocking and rolling of the boat.
They’re going to put her on a spinal board as a precaution because of how much pain she’s in. Apparently she might have a hairline fracture of her coccyx, Sharlene tells us in an aside.
For those who don’t know, that’s your tailbone. And it’s surprisingly painful to land on.

But they finally cruise into Hobart with smiles on their faces.
Skipper’s super proud of them, too. A lot of sailors have never even done the trip and this was only their second time on the boat. In two days!

Sarah was surprised that she’d managed to stay up on deck grinding, even though she was sick so many times. She still felt right up to the task.
Meg’s also really happy to have come through so well. She’d been on the grinder during the worst of it last night, first with Sharlene and then with a replacement.
Joe was scared at first but then he got used to it and now he can do anything!

Michelle says they can look back on this when times are tough and they’ll know they can do anything.

When they arrive at Hobart Steve, Tiff and Hayley are waiting for them at the dock. Leigh said it was great to see their smiling faces and he wanted to give them all a hug and a kiss – yes, even The Commando!
Tiffiny is pleased to see them all back, bouncing up and down on the dock. It’s pretty chilly and she says they all looked cold and exhausted and she wanted to wrap them all in a blanket. Awww!

Hooray, they’re finally off the boat and back on solid ground.
Sharlene’s not got the chance to walk off the boat, she had to be stretchered off. Michelle says she was stretchered off in “True Sharlene Style”.
As she comes up from belowdecks she has one of those “green whistles” in her hand and she screams “Woooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooo!”
Leigh says he kind of forgot how serious her injuries were because she was as high as a kite.
As they get her onto the safety of the dock she suddenly notices Commando is there… and tells him to plant one on her and Steve grins and leans down to get a peck on the cheek. Awww, he’s such a softy!

Sharlene says she’s discovered the fun Sharlene and she’s not letting her go. She’s achieved so much and she’s very proud of herself.

Hayley then says they should all go get showered and warm and rested because their time in Tasmania has only just begun!

Phase two of Fears Week starts after the break…
But first a big group hug. Commando included, Mish insists!

As another day dawns – presumably a day or so later after they’ve recovered! – they all rock up to the docks again to see the boat waiting for them and the trainers and Hayley on the deck. Sarah’s worried they’ll have to sail right back again!

Sharlene’s there too and she’s fine. She’s bruised her coccyx but she’s fine. She doesn’t remember anything of arriving in Hobart. Or kissing The Commando!

Hayley says The Southern Excellence will be departing for Sydney today and the contestants… – cue held breath for all Losers – … won’t be going with them!
Cue much relief!

No, instead of sailing again they’ll be participating in this year’s Super Challenge. Which, after sailing Sydney to Hobart, isn’t so super, really!
When the Super Challenge finishes one of them will be leaving Hobart – and the competition.

First stage is kayaking 3km from Constitution Dock to Sandy Bay Beach. They’ll then go to Wrestpoint Hotel – Hobart’s tallest building – to climb 17 flights of stairs to the roof. From the roof they’ll abseil 64m down to the bottom.
Then they cycle 4km to Mount Wellington.
Then run 4km up the mountain.
Then, at the top, there’ll be six plates of food. And whoever chooses the one with the highest number of calories will be eliminated.

Yikes!

Sharlene, however, won’t be able to take part in the race part of the Challenge, due to her injuries. Which first seems like a bonus.

But it’s not. After the other five contestants have selected a plate Sharlene will get whatever is left. So her fate is in the hands of the other contestants.

Tiff and Commando Steve are there to support them during the abseil, should they need the support.

For four days they’ve not been thinking about this sort of thing, Sarah says, but now it’s Game On again!

As the super challenge starts they’re all in their kayaks… And four of them immediately paddle into a wall getting stuck in a traffic jam.

But Kellie’s not stuck and she’s taking an early lead. She’s a little worried she’ll lead them all the wrong way!

And Leigh, of course, is in second place.
But surprisingly Sarah is in third place! Go Sarah!
Meg is about 100m behind Leigh and Sarah and Joe’s nowhere in sight.

Joe’s struggling along and then… into the drink!
Probably not a huge issue as he should catch up to some of the others during the bike and running legs. And some of them will probably baulk at abseiling…

Joe’s still struggling in the water as we get back from an ad break.
Meanwhile Kellie’s hit the beach at Sandy Bay and heading up the stairs to Westpoint.

Sarah actually gets to the beach in second place!
Though Leigh’s very close behind.
Sarah is, nevertheless, quite proud of the Moon girls.

As Sarah starts up the stairs Leigh has caught up and eventually muscles past her.

Meg also gets started on the stairclimb, stripping off her jumper as she goes.

Kellie’s still in the lead as they get to the roof but Leigh comes out right behind her.

But now it’s time to do the abseiling. And there’s not going to be a lot of rushing from anyone here.

Leigh’s said before that he has a fear of heights and Steve tells us that 64m is a lot higher than you’d think.
And Kellie confirms it for us as she looks over the edge and completely freaks out.

Luckily Steve is there to encourage her. He says that ordinarily you might work through it by starting at a lower height and working your way up. But today that’s not an option.
Kellie says she was afraid of boats and she’s afraid of heights – how many points does she have to prove?!
Steve tells her she got through the boat and she can do this, too. Start thinking like the new version of herself.

Tiffiny’s there to look after Leigh. Leigh gets up on the edge and has a look over the edge. Tiffiny says that’s the worst mistake you can make. Don’t look, just trust that it will be okay and do it.
Just lean back a little bit, Tiffiny tells him.

Meanwhile Sarah’s managed to get to the roof as well!
She starts putting her gear on as she sees Kellie and Leigh still struggling to go over the edge.

So instead of just going for the lead Sarah comes over and encourages Kellie to get going. She can do it. Why can’t the Moons take out the whole thing? Kellie’s already won two of the stages!

Meanwhile Joe finally pulls in to the beach and says he has to pull himself together and try to make up some time as he climbs up the stairs.

Sarah’s in 3rd place. She’s afraid of heights, too. But this is her chance to take the lead and she’s going to take it!

And despite being 3rd to the roof she’s the first over the edge, much to everyone’s surprise.
And she’s loving it. Even if she does get turned around and goes down a lot of the way bashing against the wall and laughing like an idiot. She actually crashes into a window at one point and does so hard enough that I’m impressed by the workmanship in the hotel’s windows!
Sarah says 10 weeks ago she’d’ve snapped the rope trying to abseil. Today she’s at the bottom and super excited, hooting and hollering instead of getting unclipped and started on the rest of the race. Come on! Get going!

After an ad break Sarah is off and riding!

Meg is in 4th place and she gets up on the edge and doesn’t pause at all, she’s right over the edge and on her way.
As she starts abseiling downwards she calls out to Leigh to get his arse over the edge!

Meg’s now in 2nd place as Leigh and Kellie are still on top of the roof.

Steve tells Kellie not to let this be the obstacle that stops her getting to the Final Four.

Meg’s off on her bike and determined to catch up to Sarah.

Leigh’s still petrified. Tiffiny tells him he doesn’t get eliminated because he gives up, this isn’t where it ends for him.

Sarah’s pushing her bike past the Cascade Brewery. And she hollers at them to give her a beer! But they’re not giving her a beer. Lame!

Joe’s got to the top of the building now as well. And he has a fear of heights but he’s not letting it stop him. He’s straight over the edge and off to the bikes – his strongest leg, he says.

Half an hour later Kellie and Leigh are still standing around on top of the building. Just fuckin’ do it!

Meg’s still in 2nd but she can hear Joe coming up behind her and he goes past her fairly easily.
Joe’s now in 2nd but Sarah’s obviously still a mile in front – she’s pushing her bike through some bushland while Meg and Joe were in the city.

Sarah finally finishes the bike leg and puts on her wet weather gear to head up the mountain. She’s got a huge lead on Leigh and Kellie now. Going to be a race between those two.

Steve’s got himself geared up and on the edge of the building. He says he wouldn’t ask them to do anything he wouldn’t do himself. So let’s go, all three of them at once.

Nope. Kellie’s decided she’s going to give up instead. Steve’s very disappointed and disappointed in himself for not being able to convince her to do it.

Leigh’s looking at Commando and thinking to himself it’s either go hard or go home and so Leigh finds the courage to do it and steps up on the edge of the building again…

And after the ad break… he’s trying to move his feet over the edge but he’s scared stiff. He can’t do it, either.

Steve sits the contestants both down to explain what’s going to happen from here.
The race isn’t over for them. They’re going to de-rig and head down to the bottom and get on their bikes and try to catch up.
They’re half an hour behind the others, but they’re going to try and catch up over the bike leg and run leg.

Leigh checks Kellie’s okay on her bike and then takes off, saying he’ll see her at the end.

Meg’s got her wet weather gear on now as well and has started up the mountain.
But Sarah is STILL in first place! She has a feeling another contestant is not far behind which is pushing her to go faster and harder.

A while later she looks behind her and can see Joe approaching from behind. And Joe overtakes her as she plods along.
Joe’s really proud of himself for being last after the first leg and now first for the final leg.

Kellie’s struggling along on her bike. It’s making funny noises and her mind is still in the wrong place after the abseiling.

Leigh’s managed to push himself hard and gets to the running leg… just as it starts snowing. Eek!

Joe’s amazed at all the weather changes up the mountain. Snow, rain, sunshine. But Hobart looks beautiful as he looks out over it.

A bit after the 2km mark Meg is catching up to Sarah, but Sarah knows she can’t run any further. As Meg goes past Sarah she tries to get her to break into a jog as well but Sarah’s knackered.

Meg’s feeling awesome to be in second place as she keeps jogging her way up the hill.

Joe gets to the top of Mount Wellington in first place. Hayley’s there with the plates. And she has a massive parka on. Must be chilly!

So what are the foods?
5 large strawberries.
Tin of tuna in springwater
100g of salted macadamias
110g of double brie cheese
glass of orange juice
6 chicken nuggets

So some smart person can work out the calories for us before Sunday and tell us which choice is which, right? Good!

Joe opts for the strawberries as he knows a punnet is only 80 calories and there was only 5 on the plate so he should be fine with that.

Meg gets to the top of the mountain in 2nd place.
Her food choice? Tin of tuna in springwater. She picks it because she knew it was healthier than something deep fried… You can cook nuggets without deep frying them, Meg!

Sarah’s to the top in 3rd place, puffing and panting. She looks around at all the snow and asks if she can make a snow angel somewhere!
She says the nuggets and macadamia and cheese are out. So she’ll be taking the juice.

Which has a lot of natural sugar in it… Could be a trick item!

Leigh’s still running up the hill as the snow starts coming down a lot heavier. Kellie’s also battling her way up the mountain but she’s not letting the snow get to her. She’s going to keep on pushing to the finish line.

As Leigh gets near the top of the hill all the contestants are cheering him on. Sharlene’s in tears and Joe’s giving her a hug to comfort her/keep her warm!

Leigh’s stuck with only three options and it’s hard to pick between them because none of them are very good.
He ends up going for the chicken nuggets.

Kellie’s still trundling along. She knows she’s come in last but she’s still proud of being able to finish. Even though she didn’t, she piked on the abseiling!

Kellie’s left with the double brie cheese and the macadamia nuts. I’d choose the nuts, since they’re delicious!

Oh, wait…

Of course we don’t find out which she picks tonight. Find out on Sunday night!
After the post-Challenge Elimination we head back to Camp for another Weigh-In and another Elimination.

Which will bring the number down to four. Final Four, perhaps? Might it almost be over already?!
