TBL 6×32: So Tri. Tri. Tri-anti-wonty. Errr, Triathlon!

Previously on The Biggest Loser… oh, Joe, Leigh and Lara were facing off in The Contest.

Even though everyone knows it’s not fair for women to compete against men in such things.

In other unfair news, Melbourne gets a double episode tonight because of the footy on Sunday night. BAH. We want double episode too. Just because we follow a different football code to you…

Tonight we find out who wins The Contest. Lara was gearing up for her weightlifting effort when we left last night.
Later in this episode Michelle is going to tear into Joe, again, and Joe is going to quit at exercise, again.
Also the weekly Challenge kicks off and this time it’s a triathlon. And at the finish line are the people they love most in the world. Awww!

As the episode gets back into gear Lara is still lifting away, almost caught up to Leigh’s tally of 53. She gets to 53 with about 25 seconds to go and pauses for a moment and Leigh calls out to her to keep going.
She then keeps going in an effort to beat Joe as well, but doesn’t quite manage it.

So now it’s Joe and Lara in the final round of The Contest!

For every correct answer they’ll bank a minute. And with the time they bank they’ll have to run as far as they can on a treadmill.

How many calories did Meg eat at the picnic temptation?
2010, 2000, 1900?

Both answer 2000 calories and are correct.

A cup of plain yoghurt has more fibre than a cup of soy milk.

False, both correct again!

How many calories are there in one pound of fat?
1200, 3500, 4200

3,500. Lara meant to pick up B but picked up C. So Joe has a minute up on her. Crap!

Nathaniel in the temptation consumed an ice cream cone worth 242 calories?
True. Joe gets that right, too. Lara gets it wrong.

Leigh groans and Lara asks him to keep quiet.

100 grams of raw steak has more calories than 100 grams of raw salmon?
False, both correct!

Joe has five minutes on the treadmill. Lara has three minutes.

Lara’s not too concerned as every time Joe’s been in a treadmill challenge, he’s come off short.

Joe will start first and then Lara will start at the two minute mark.

If Joe’s smart he’ll go slow and steady at the start and then just match Lara once she starts.
But no, he’s going out hard anyway.

Lara’s highest speed has been 19km/hr, she says, and Joe usually runs at 10km/hr so she’s hoping she can catch up.

Lara’s hanging on to the front of the treadmill and Leigh says she can’t and Lara asks why not? Nobody said she couldn’t!
Joe asks Hayley and she confirms Lara’s allowed to hang on. So Joe starts hanging on too.

Lara can’t stay on any longer, she’s too tired and gets off. Leigh calls for her to get back on but she can’t and eventually hops off and into Leigh’s arms. Awww.

Joe keeps going and Damien calls for him to just keep going. Don’t worry about what’s happening with Lara just keep running!

Sarah tells us Lara’s the toughest competitor at Camp and for her to have a meltdown was quite shocking.

Lara’s okay, she says her head just got in the way of her body and she’s just exhausted. As soon as she thought she couldn’t keep going, she had to stop.
Lara feels like she’s failed her family by not getting the 1kg advantage.

Lara ended up with 400m and Joe got 980m. So Lara probably could have taken him if she wasn’t quite so tired.

Joe’s won a 1kg advantage for himself and a 1kg advantage for someone else. Leigh tells us he thinks it’s a no-brainer and Joe will pick Damien.

And then Joe announces he’s going to give the 1kg advantage to… Rebecca?!

What?!

Ad break?!

After the ad break they’re all in the lounge room. So I guess he wasn’t making a joke and he really did give Rebecca a 1kg advantage? That’s just… weird. You give it to your brother you knob.

They start relaying the details of The Contest and the reward.
Lara’s in tears when saying she failed and Joe won. Joe tells her she didn’t fail.

Mish is very pleased by knowing Joe won! She tells us it’s great news, getting a 1kg advantage and getting one for Damien as well.
Yeah, about that…

Joe then announces he picked Rebecca and Michelle says… “What?!”

Damien’s been going well and the Black team have been struggling… Mish screams “Joe he’s family!!! I can’t believe this.”
Shannan facepalms, Tiff looks shocked and Steve looks a little bemused.

Mish says Damien’s in his team and so is Michelle, by the way!
Joe says Damien understands why he did it. Tiff looks befuddled and asks if he understands and Damien says it wasn’t his choice and he could get upset and get angry but he can’t change it.
Mish tells him to get upset, she is!

Joe doesn’t have an answer for Michelle as to why he did it.

I do! I do! He did it because he wants to get rid of another big threat.

Shannan then pipes up and says that by the vibe in the room they need a break so they’re going to Manly beach to train with Natalie Cook and Kerri Pottharst in beach volleyball. Awesome!
So let’s blow this popstand, Shannan says!

Damien and Joe are getting ready to get up and Michelle says they’re not going. She doesn’t feel like going to the beach and having fun, they’re going to stay at Camp and train instead. DUN DUN DUN!

Natalie and Kerri are at the beach in their training outfits and Shannan introduces them both before they get into their drills.
They have to pop a ball up into the air ready for a spike and then dash across the court to try and dig a thrown ball back up into the air.

Shannan’s not really too interested in the training, he wants to get into Lara’s head and find out why she had a breakdown. Lara doesn’t feel like the happy-Lara anymore.
So Shannan’s got Kerri over to have a chat with Lara as Kerri’s one of Australia’s great champions but she’s had her down times and injuries and stuff.
Kerri asks Lara how many times she’s told herself she’s The Biggest Loser 2011? Lara says she never has, not once. Kerri tells her that she needs to start believing she can do it and if she starts acting like she can win, she’ll do much better.

Lara leaves the little pow-wow with a smile on her face again.

The trainers are getting into the beach volleyball game as well. Steve gets a high five from Nat, too!

Michelle has her boys in the gym and running on the treadmill. She’s still in shock at Joe giving an advantage away to someone outside the team.
Joe can’t comprehend what’s going on. He thought he’d done a good thing, he tells us, but he’s getting smashed for it.
Come on, dude, everybody would have liked you for giving the 1kg to Damien. Everyone wants him to stay and get his life on track! Arg!

Mish asks Joe if he sees Damien as a threat and Joe says no. Joe hops off the treadmill as he gets angry and Mish tells him it’s good to be angry, she is!
Michelle tells Joe that she’s making it an issue because it is one with their family. Get back on the treadmill!
Mish is trying to get to the bottom of what is so screwed up with their family.

Joe tries blaming it on his family being screwed up but Michelle says not to blame them. How do you make a change? Build new relationships, he asks?
Damien’s flapping his hands to indicate you have to talk!

Talk! Joe apologises to Damien for not giving him the 1kg advantage. He hopes Damien will be above the Line. He wants them both to be there at the end.
Joe apologises again and Joe and Damien then just stand there staring at each other with Michelle standing in the background for a few moments… “And?!” She gestures to them to hug it out. Aww!

Michelle’s not going to give up on them, she tells us. Meaning she has more patience than anyone else… in the world!

Time for The Biggest Loser Triathlon!
Three knockout legs. First is the kayak paddle. 200m up around the turning buoys and back. Do it twice. You need to be in the top six to continue in the triathlon.
Sarah’s terrified of sharks, she tells us. It’s in Sydney Harbour so it’s not a completely ridiculous fear.

Second leg is a 10km bike race. First three to finish that will move on.

The third leg? Is a car race. Everyone’s shocked. Sarah’s very excited. God knows why, it’s not like she’ll make it to that round.

The car race is with a brand new Honda Insight. Some kind of hybrid, oooh.

They not only have to drive the car, they have to build the road it rides on. Some weird green block things they’ll have to puzzle together.

Win today and they’ll get to spend some time on Cockatoo Island. Yay?
And out on the harbour, can they see the boat? Recognise anyone on it? They’re waving and I guess they’d be the aforementioned loved ones.

Can reognise Sharlene’s daughter Emma and I guess some of the others are husbands and Mums and whatnot.

If you win you get to spend time with your loved one on Cockatoo Island. Fun!

They all get into the water with their kayaks and get started.

They’re all over the place so it’s a little hard to see who’s where. Except for Kellie who is in the lead and loving it!
Her husband is the one on the boat for her, she says.

Meg and Lara run into each other trying to go round the buoy, funny.
I guess Meg’s in 2nd and Lara’s in 3rd? Lara’s Mum is the one on the boat. She wants to win and see her Mum. Awww!

Meg eventually goes past Kellie. Kellie’s surprised, she thought maybe Lara or Leigh would catch up, not Meg.

Leigh and Lara also go past Kellie around the halfway mark. Joe and Sharlene are battling it out for sixth.

Meg’s out of the water first, Leigh in second place, Lara’s still paddling along.
Kellie’s just behind Lara as they get out of the water and onto the bikes.
20 laps.

And Leigh’s quickly past Meg as she struggles with the gears on her fancy bike. Not sure what brand they are but they look nice!

As Leigh goes past at one point it looks like it’s a Jamie brand bike? Never heard of them!

Any way, Lara’s on her bike. Swearing as she starts pedalling.

Sarah gets off the boats in FOURTH! And Kellie gets out in fifth with Joe in sixth and Sharlene in 7th. Awww.

Leigh’s onto his second lap, I assume. Just as Sarah’s starting her first.
This could take a while!

Rebecca finally pulls in 8th and Damien finally gets in at 9th. He’s pleased just to have finished and not sunk the boat!

Joe’s on his bike now. He was an elite cyclist for eight years, apparently. Even though he’s a ways behind he’s quite confident he can make up the difference.

Meg’s still struggling along with her gears. I think she must be in first, pedalling madly instead of slower and more powerful like Lara who cruises past her with ease.

Leigh’s up to his 5th lap, Lara’s behind him, then Meg, Sarah, Joe and Kellie.
Joe’s wife is on the boat. He’s been with her for twelve years and she’s never seen him race before, apparently.

Joe overtakes Sarah and then Meg not long after.

Leigh’s cycling hard with the front suspension forks going up and down like mad. Dude, lock it out!

As he goes round a corner looking down at his pedals he starts to lose control of his bike a little and slams on the front brake, causing the bike to stop pretty promptly and dump him over the handlebars. Onto the scorchingly hot bitumen. Oooh he’s not going to be a happy Loser later that night!

Aftetr the ad break he gets up and is okay… but his bike chain has fallen off so he has to get it back on the gears before he can get going again.
And as he’s trying to do that, Joe sails past him. Fortunately he’s a lap down so Leigh’s still in first at that point.

Not long after Joe goes past Lara as well, leaving him to try and catch up to Leigh.
Leigh, who is still bouncing up and down on his bike, even though Hayley keeps screaming at him not to bounce like that.

Joe eventually crosses the line in second place and both head to their cars.

Lara makes it across the line in 3rd, well done!
Meg comes in 4th and is the first one knocked out. She’s very pleased to have done 10km on a bike though.

The road that have to drive on is a puzzle. They have to drive over the puzzle, then pick it all up and put it down in front of their car to drive over again.

Leigh says he’s great at solving puzzles. He has a girlfriend and that’s the biggest puzzle of all to sort out.

Come on guys, this is so easy. Take a corner piece and put it in front of the car, then take a piece connected to that one and move it to the front of the car and put it on the road… Oh nevermind.

Lara’s Mum is a Maths Teacher so she’s thinking she’ll be pissed if Lara gets it wrong.

Some of them are trying to call out some help. It’s not going too well!

Lara’s trying to build her “road” a bit thinner than it was initially so she’d get a bit more distance out of it.
Leigh’s doing well, got himself going along… and then gets confused and stuck.

Joe’s looking at Leigh’s road building technique and Leigh’s doing weird things that confuse him so it’s not really helping.

Lara has her gloves off at one point, saying her hands are bleeding. Ouch! But she puts them back on and gets back down to it.
Lara’s finding it particularly tough with her Mum sailing past on the boat all the time. She can’t look or she’ll cry.

Sunday night we find out who wins. Unless you’re in Melbourne. Bastards. In which case you’re finding out now and I’m not!
Also, the first Singles weigh-in. Will Joe’s decision on the 1kg advantage come back to bite him and/or Damien?

Oh, I hope so!
