TBL 6×30: Nobody likes Joe, everybody hates Joe, maybe he should go eat worms?

Previously on The Biggest Loser Nathaniel was sent home at the elimination after Joe, again, threw a family member under the bus.

Oh and Jodie got sent home as well. But hardly anyone cares about that, right?

Tonight, everyone hates Joe. Again!

Also the Pyramid of Fitness is some challenge/contest-y looking thing. Looks like it’ll be a series of knockout rounds on various exercise equipment.

As the episode gets going we see Black and Red sitting in the lounge room waiting for Nathaniel or Kellie to come back… but instead the trainers rock up!
Mish notices that there’s Moon Family and her Family… and Nathaniel is missing.

And oh boy, Michelle does not look pleased!

She asks them how they arrived at Nathaniel.
Damien says that they’ve discussed previously if they get to singles then whoever has the lowest weightloss for the week they go up for elimination.
You’re not in singles yet!
We get some replay footage of Nathaniel pointing out to Joe that Joe has told every other team he’d be going up next, and he never does!

Joe says Nathaniel didn’t want to train with them (I wonder why?) and Mish says she’d heard that he’d missed a training session.
Joe says he’s too hard to work with.
Mish looks PISSED.

Steve asks how his team chose Kellie and they tell him that Kellie wouldn’t hear of Sarah or Rebecca going up.

Michelle is gutted.

Sharlene asks Joe why he wasn’t up and Joe says he’s tired of them always asking why he wasn’t up, they just want him gone.
Meg says that’s not it at all, it’s that Nathaniel needed it a bit more than Joe.

Shannan then speaks up too and says this is the first time someone has been pushed up without wanting to go. Every other elimination one family member has volunteered to be the one to take one for the team. Michelle nods and agrees with Shannan.

Lara says it’ll be the same every week, someone has to go home all the time.
She tells us that she’s sick of Joe’s mindgames. He’s always saying he’s going to win the game, rah rah rah.

After that they’re off into the weigh-in room again, quite unexpectedly.
Lara’s mystified.

Shannan isn’t!
Shannan says they’re just past the halfway point so it’s time for a shake up.

Hayley says when they arrived a few weeks ago, this was their last chance. And now they’ve all lost a phenomenal amount of weight. But have they really understood their achievements?
Perhaps this will help – Hayley whips a cover off a bunch of vats full of fat!

All four families weighed 2,201.4kg.
Everyone’s shocked.
And the fat is how much they’ve lost to date. How much weight is it? Well, it just happens to be on the phony TV scales so let’s see.

509.9kg?! Wow! More than half a ton, Hayley helpfully tells us.

Hayley gets them all to take a moment to think about how all that extra weight was affecting them.

Kellie remembers how uncomfortable she was all the time before coming on the show. She couldn’t roll over in bed or play with her kids.
Damien remembers the first family weigh-in and feeling ashamed in front of his family. He doesn’t want to go back to that again.
Rebecca’s lost so many years, hiding from life. Now she’s looking forward to life.

Hayley then drops another bombshell. It’s not the only announcement today.
The game as they know it is about to change and that change is… NOW!

Ad break!

When they first came to Biggest Loser they arrived as families. But not anymore. It’s time to compete as singles.
“Welcome to my world.” Says Meg!

Sarah’s relieved since now she can be accountable for her own actions. Which she could before, as far as I can tell, she just chose not to hold herself accountable.

They’ll now be competing in weigh-ins, challenges, contests and temptations as individuals. They’ll still train with their same trainer but otherwise they will be on their own.
Rebecca says she’d been carrying other’s baggage and not anymore!

So who’s leading overall?

Not Sarah! She’s in 9th. Go on, raise your hand if you were surprised by that!
Loss: 31kg
Percentage: 20.6%

8th? Rebecca. Another Moon. Shocking.
Loss: 25.2kg
Percentage: 21.88%

7th? Kellie! Woo, trifecta!
Loss: 28kg
Percentage: 21.93%

6th? Sharlene.
Loss: 27.2kg
Percentage: 24%

Big jump between Moons and the first Westren, huh?

5th? Joe.
Loss: 35.2kg
Percentage: 25.18%

Nearly beaten by SHARLENE, of all people.
Joe says he’s very competitive, but bring on the challenge of getting to #1!

4th is Meg!
Loss: 35.4kg
Percentage: 25.84%

More in raw weight than Joe!

3rd? Damien.
Loss: 60.8kg
Percentage: 25.94%

So it’s two Westrens at the top? Wow.
And it’s Lara and Leigh. Girlfriend and boyfriend.
Lara’s worried that Leigh’s head will be huge because he’ll be in number one.

Number one spot? We’ll be right back…

Number 1?

LARA!

Lara’s shocked, as is Leigh.

Lara’s Loss: 32kg
Lara’s Percentage: 29.88%

Wow, just off 30% already, nicely done.

Leigh’s Loss: 38.3kg
Leigh’s Percentage: 29.44%

Ohhhhh, so close! Good on them!
Both are miles ahead of Damien, too.

Leigh says Lara won’t be in first for long.
Lara says 7 weeks ago they were sitting on their bed eating chocolate, now they’re at Camp Biggest Loser on top of the leaderboard!

Hayley says we now know who’s on top of the leaderboard. But who’s the fittest? Well, the trainers have something planned to determine that…

Out under the moooon a special workout area has been set out in some quarry looking thing. Big tractors, piles of dirt and rock.

Shannan says in the past 7 weeks they’ve been transforming their lives and bodies. So the four trainers have gotten together to find out how far their bodies have come.
Then the floodlights bathe a bunch of gym equipment in light.

“Guys, meet the pyramid of fitness!” – Shannan

It’s all got Workout World stickers on it. I wonder how much you have to pay for that sort of product placement? Or is all the equipment the payment?

They’ll start with eight stations. At the end of each station, one contestant will be knocked out. And each round one more will be knocked out until it gets down to just two people. The winner of that round will be crowned the Biggest Loser Ultimate Athlete.

First station is squats. Backsides to the bench. If you can’t keep up with Steve’s cadence, you’re out.
The other trainers are all keeping an eye on them, making sure their form is good and they’re not cheating.

Damien’s pretty sure he won’t win this but he’s hoping to at least prove he’s as fit as he can be. He’s trying to get into a rhythm and manages to get to 50 squats, which is very impressive given how large a man he still is.

Sarah’s actually struggling the most, it seems. Kellie seems to be cheating, not touching the seat. Nobody pulling her up on it yet.
After another ad break, Rebecca’s not sitting down properly, either.

84 and they’re still going. Sarah’s started gurning… but it’s not enough, she falls behind on the count and can’t catch up so Shannan calls her as being out.

Next round. Sumo Deadlift High Pull, Steve says. Max reps in one minute.
They’re each doing this one after another instead of all at once. Sharlene’s first up but she tells us that quitting’s not an option at Camp Biggest Loser so she’s pushing her concerns aside and getting on with it.
Since they’re going one at a time they don’t really need all those sets of weights. But each contestant has their own set…

Kellie manages to top Sharlene’s count so she’s safely through. Sharlene will have to hope someone does fewer pulls.

Damien thinks of his kids throughout as they were previously his little remote controls – picking up after him, getting things for him, etc.

Leigh easily pushes past his Mum’s count which meant he could’ve stopped at that point but it’s about being the Ultimate Athlete so he’s not stopping there. He eventually gets to 41, setting a new benchmark for everyone to try and top.
Meg almost manages it, doing 40 lifts in the time limit. Joe gets 41 right after. Then Lara does 40 as well!

Rebecca needs to beat Sharlene’s 29, however. With Steve doing the counting you can bet he’s going to be annoyed if she doesn’t!
Rebecca says that normally she’d go back to her old ways and just quit – not tonight!
She gets past Sharlene’s mark, meaning Sharlene’s the next out.
Sharlene’s a little disappointed but she knew she’d given it 100% and so she was content with that.

Next station is a 2km sprint on a spin bike. Last to finish is out.
Pretty sure that’s going to be Damien. Mish thinks so too. Damien’s never really been on the spinbike before and never been able to spin his legs at all. But tonight he’s managing to get the wheel turning around slowly but steadily. He won’t finish the 2km in time to go through but he’s just trying to keep going while the race is still going along.

Damien actually manages 500m by the end. Given how awful his legs still are, that’s no mean feat!

Next station is 8kg medicine balls. Lift them up over your head. Hold it straight above your head.
First to buckle is out!

Lara locks her elbows in, she says, then goes into her little zone, pictures herself in Byron Bay, sitting on the beach and drinking a cocktail.

FYI, Loser will be on at 7pm on Sunday night. Ch10 is pitching them as being “special times”. No indication of what special sport is taking priority.

Big surprise, the first two to look in trouble are Moons!
Kellie eventually buckles and Rebecca tells us she’s proud of managing to beat her at something!

Next station is max reps in one minute of stair steps. Well, more like big ass box steps. They come up to Leigh’s knees!
32 reps for him.

Meg’s having trouble getting up onto the box and getting into a rhythm but she manages to get 21. She’s not sure it’ll be enough to get her through.

Joe only manages 29.
Lara gets 28/29. There’s a little dispute over whether she finished the last but it’s not very important since she only needed to beat Meg.

Rebecca only manages 20 so can’t quite knock Meg out.

Cross trainers for Round 6. Same resistance on each. Timed for five minutes. Three longest distances will go through, the least distance will be knocked out.

Some of them are using the arm thingies, some are just using their legs. I’ve never used a cross trainer so I have no idea what difference it makes!

Leigh’s legs are burning after only a minute but he’s not giving up. Joe has no idea where anyone else is so he’s just going for it.
Lara’s not feeling so well but she’s still pushing on. She’s not sure she can even get to five minutes!
Meg says she’s almost throwing up at one point.

But they’re all still pushing. Joe looks like a lunatic in the final seconds as he tries to push faster and faster.
They’re all going to be stuffed for the next round, no matter who wins!

Leigh gets 1.16. Meg gets 1.04. Joe has 1.12. Lara has 1.15.
Meg’s out!

Lara’s pleased to be the fittest girl in the house!

Leigh doesn’t want Lara to beat him, she’s done that enough. And Joe? Joe’s not going to beat him ever again!

Next station is the rowing machine. First two to 1km.
Lara’s not seen Joe on the rowing machines before so she’s hoping he’s terrible at it.

Joe’s always strived to win so it’s important to him to try as hard as he can.
Can’t be easy with Michelle bending over behind him flashing a lot of cleavage!

Lara’s exhausted and has run out of energy but she continues pushing… even as she gets paler and paler. I think she should maybe stop and leave Leigh to finish second… and hey presto, she drops the handle and stops.

Joe thinks he’s a huge threat in the competition now. Being 5th says otherwise, but okay Joe…

Treadmills are last. Starts at 8km/hr. Every minute the speed increases by 2km/hr. Whoever stays on the treadmill the longest will be crowned the Ultimate Athlete.
Last time Leigh and Joe competed on treadmills Joe emerged victorious…

Tomorrow night, who will win?
Temptation seems to involve… COOKIES!!!!!!!!!
