TBL 6×29: Two Eliminations, One Weigh-in.
Previously on The Biggest Loser the great big obstacle course challenge got started.
Blue and Red were both doing well when we left them on Friday. Black were, as usual, bringing up the rear.
Tonight! Black are still in last place, Blue finish the obstacle course again and Red are still in the final stages.
Red have a one minute time advantage over the other teams as a result of Damien’s win at The Contest, so they stand a good chance at winning.
After the obstacle course is done one family member from the last place team will be sent home.
And then we’ll have a weigh-in and another elimination as a result. Packed night ahead!
As we pick up the proper part of the show Nathaniel and Joe are both on the flying foxes and almost at the finish line. As they cross the finish line Joe is talking about how proud he is of Nathaniel today, he’s done so well.
Kellie and Rebecca, meanwhile, are at the water filled pipes. Earlier in the course Rebecca found it very difficult to get into the pipe and crawl upwards. This time around she just gets stuck straight in and actually beats Kellie through the pipes.
Although to be fair to Kellie she did have the much more flooded pipe.
The Moons are all pleased at what they’ve achieved but they’re pretty sure they took too long and thus one of them will be going home.
Time for Hayley to announce the finishing times… Or at least prepare to do so before an ad break, no doubt.
Hayley reminds the Challenors of their one minute deduction and says that with that taken into consideration there was a mere 30 seconds between first and second place. Wow!
A time of 14 minutes 52 seconds wins it for… THE WESTRENS! Woohoo!
Challenor final time was 15 minutes and 26 seconds, meaning actually 16 minutes and 26 seconds. Still quite impressive!
Third place, 27 minutes 11 seconds, The Moons. So The Westrens could almost have run the course twice…
And now The Westrens have a minute to decide who from the Moon family they’ll send home. Kellie’s not looking forward to the ride home. She might not need to worry!
Blue heads off for a chat. Sarah needs to be there more than anyone, Lara says. And Sharlene says that Jodie’s almost at her goal weight. Leigh thinks it should be Sarah to go because she has weight to lose and is thus a threat.
Lara says, “Mum, please decide for us!” Awww, Mum!
Sharlene says all four of them need to be there but they have to send someone home so they’ve decided to… go to an ad break!
Sharlene announces after the ad break that the person to be sent home today is… Jodie!
Jodie’s very accepting of it, gives Sharlene a hug and says it’s okay, the others need it more than her.
Jodie’s still in tears and speechless when it’s time to go though.
She’s lost 22.4kg while in the house, Hayley tells her. Should be very proud of herself!
So much for those nasty playing-the-game accusations at Blue… oh, who am I kidding, people will find a way to twist this!
Jodie says she’s learned so much and had the time of her life. And she knows how to lead a healthier life and is almost at her goal weight.
Then she gets in the car and heads home. Not even a ride in the helicopter? Such a waste, that was.
Hayley then reminds them all that there’s still a weigh-in and elimination to come. Time to head back to camp and train hard, etc etc.
The trainers all rock up to Camp post-Challenge. Steve’s hoping all his girls will still be there. No joy there, Steve!
The contestants explain the challenge and the result. Steve tells us he doesn’t like seeing someone go from his team but since they chose Jodie he thinks she can make the most of it at home.
Times are then relayed. Steve’s disappointed by his team’s poor performance. Rebecca says there’s a reason for it though. Sarah gurns.
Rebecca says she had a bit of a mental breakdown at the tunnel, crying her eyes out. But Kellie got her through it.
Steve says he’s known many people who’ve ended their careers because they couldn’t handle their fear of confined spaces. It can be pretty freaky, he says. Steve tells us that Rebecca overcoming the fear is actually a really good sign that they’re making progress so he’s going away happy overall.
Michelle’s got her team on the crosstrainers. She tells them it happens every year – they turn the corner and they get “these eyes”, the hungry eyes and they want it bad enough and they’re ready to make it happen. She says they’re the eyes in the posters hung up around the gym – including Cosi, Sam, original-Damien and Adro.
Mish tells Nate that she sees flashes of Sam in him. Young, strong, fit and getting his life back.
Nathaniel says he had an extra boost from Sam last week and this week has been his time to see if he can do it himself – and he can! Not one negative thought yesterday during the Challenge.
Nate and Joe then have a cycle off. 4km, fast as they can. Nathaniel gives his tongue a good workout at the start as well.
Joe finishes his 4km in 4mins 36secs. Nate finishes in 4mins 38secs. Joe beat him by a mere two seconds!
Moons are in the warehouse training again. Big surprise, Sarah’s screaming on the treadmill again. I suppose it’s a bit of an extra workout?
Steve’s telling them there’s only one spot above the Yellow Line – Meg still has Immunity – and so they need to get above the Line for a change!
Kellie’s doing it for herself and her family, she says. Steve tells us she’s rediscovered the competitive edge she had when she was in surf lifesaving.
Rebecca says the obstacle course was the best thing for their family, her and Kellie were talking all the way through, worked really well as a team.
Oh, Sarah, you’re still here. Oh nevermind, team team team!
Time for the weigh-in!
Black team was the most powerful team at the start of the week with four members still in the game. After tonight they could be in dire straits with only two people left!
Nathaniel’s confident that Red has hit their stride at the right time. Will that be reflected on the scales?
Meg’s weighing in first since she has Immunity anyway.
Meg Previous: 103.8kg
Meg Current: 101.6kg
Meg Loss: 2.2kg
Meg Percentage: 2.12%
She was hoping for more than 3.8kg so she’d be under 100kg. She had a bad week, she says. She lost Emma and lost her drive and didn’t really do her best.
But she says her and Tiffiny have gotten together over the last couple of days and she’s got her martial arts mojo back.
Moons are next with Rebecca first cab off the rank.
Rebecca Previous: 93.2kg
Rebecca Current: 90kg
Rebecca Loss: 3.2kg
She’s amused by not quite getting under 90kg but that’s a good result for her.
Sarah Previous: 123.4kg
Sarah Current: 119.5kg
Sarah Loss: 3.9kg
She’s very pleased by that. Not sure why, Rebecca’s percentage is better… Anyway.
Kellie Previous: 103.8kg
Kellie Current: 99.7kg
Kellie Loss: 4.1kg
Moon Total: 11.2kg
Moon Percentage: 3.5%
Unlikely to be enough versus the powerhouse Westrens and the all-boy Challenors.
Speaking of The Challenors, their turn. They’ll need at least 14.1kg to beat The Moons. That’s more than 4kg each, but Damien should be able to make up any shortfall from Joe or Nate… in theory.
Joe Previous: 109kg
Joe Current: 104.6kg
Joe Loss: 4.4kg
So he’s done about what he needed. Joe says his wife hasn’t seen him under 100kg, so he’s nearly there.
Mish tells us Joe’s goal weight is 81kg, which is definitely achievable for him.
Nathaniel Previous: 108.2kg
Nathaniel Current: 105.3kg
Nathaniel Loss: 2.9kg
Ouch. A loss is a loss, but geez. Nathaniel tells Hayley he’s disappointed by the number. He’s put in the work so he’s not sure what’s happened.
Joe and Damien share a look at that point. Not sure what that’s about.
Nathaniel had a birthday this week, happy birthday! He’s excited about the future and he’s discovering who and what he can be. Lots of smiles from the other teams at that. They’re obviously all fond of the lad, awww!
Damien’s last to weigh in. He’ll need at least 6.8kg. That’s certainly in the realm of possibility for the big fella…
Damien Previous: 182.3kg
Damien Current: 173.6kg
Damien Loss: 8.7kg
Romped it in!
Challenor Total: 16kg
Challenor Percentage 4.01%
Damien’s up to 60.8kg total loss now. He’s in tears. He says when he started the journey he felt like a failure. There was nothing good about him and he wasn’t far from the grave.
Challenors are in first place at present with just the Westrens to go.
The Moons are definitely facing elimination, again, though.
Mish says Damien’s what the show is about. Walks in as the biggest person ever on the show and now he’s lost 60kg. The sky’s the limit!
The Westrens will need at least 10.5kg. That could be tough with Lara getting so light…
Leigh Previous: 93.6kg
Leigh Current: 91.8kg
Leigh Loss: 4.5kg
Gets a huge round of applause from his team and trainer for that!
Lara Previous: 78.2kg
Lara Current: 75.1kg
Lara Loss: 3.1kg
Sharlene needs at least 2.9kg to keep them safe. Come on Sharlene!
Sharlene Previous: 89.2kg
Sharlene Current: 86.1kg
Sharlene Loss: 3.1kg
Sharlene screams in delight. Everyone on her family is cheering and applauding and Sharlene runs to them to give them all a big hug.
Westren Total: 10.7kg
Westren Percentage: 4.06%
Damien is this week’s Biggest Loser. Not very surprising with such an awesome result.
So Challenors v Moons for elimination. Westrens and Meg then get to decide who’ll be going home.
Black and Red get one minute to decide.
Sarah tells her team that last week they decided that lowest percentage would go up – so she’s up.
Kellie says no. If she goes home she can train hard.
Kellie tells us that with Jodie going home it’s time for her to step up. So she’ll be facing elimination.
Pretty safe bet you won’t be going home over Red.
Red had also had an agreement about lowest percentage going up. So Nathaniel had the lowest percentage… for fuck’s sake, he’s your nephew, man up Joe.
Nate says he doesn’t want go up and Joe reiterates the percentage thing. He says his vote is for Nathaniel. And why’s that, Nate asks?
Damien’s meanwhile saying nothing at all. Disgraceful.
Nate’s not sitting still for it though, he says that Joe’s always been saying that he’ll go up next and he never does.
Damien’s still not saying anything.
Then Joe announces he’s made his decision now.
So Nathaniel walks out, telling neither of them to talk to him ever again.
If they really put Nathaniel up they might get a surprise – I’m not sure Meg and the Westrens will be okay with ditching Nathaniel.
Anyway, ad break, naturally!
After the break Nathaniel tells us he couldn’t stand the sight of them anymore so he had to get out of there.
Hayley comes over for a chat and says that it’s sad that Nathaniel has walked out but at the end of the day, he’s their family. So someone has to be put forward, Joe says, and they’ve decided it’ll be Nathaniel. Final decision.
DOUCHE.
Kellie’s going up from the Black team. No surprise there though none of the Black team look very impressed about Nate being put up in his absence.
Nathaniel finally walks back in but chooses to stand with The Moons. He tells us they’ve been more of a family to him than his own uncles.
Damien and Joe remain unrepentant. Gits. Really hope the Westrens and Meg decide to fuck the Reds over, here. They’d win themselves an ally for when it goes to singles, that’s for sure…
Hayley says that the Moons and Challenors have chosen their representatives and not everyone was happy…
Nathaniel walks in first, followed by Kellie. Lara looks shocked, Sharlene looks disappointed.
Lara says she was expecting Joe from the Red Team. She’s surprised they’ve let their nephew go up for Elimination.
Joe and Damien are pretty much boned after this, either way.
Nate is still in tears. He says he hasn’t reached his first goal – getting under 100kg – at Camp. He’s still trying to work out who he’s going to be as an adult.
Kellie says she needs to be there because if she goes home she’s worried she won’t be able to keep it up. She has a baby and a toddler and she has to get up in the middle of the night and she’ll be exhausted. Sigh. Make the husband do it!
Time for Blue and Meg to vote. First to three will be eliminated. If it’s a hung vote it’ll be lowest percentage, which is Nathaniel. So his only chance is for three of them to have a heart!
Lara’s vote was difficult to make. This person has come a long way in the competition but this person, “due to the lack of respect and integrity of their family will not go any further in this competition”… she’s voted for Nathaniel.
She apologises to Nate and says she’s certain that he’d be back up for elimination every week. And Nathaniel nods and doesn’t disagree. Poor lad.
Meg had a hard choice to make. She thinks the person she’s voted for has learned enough already. She’s voted… for Kellie? Wow. Meg says she thinks Nathaniel still needs to be there.
Sharlene’s voting with her head, she says. She knows this person will survive on the outside and do extremely well, so she’s voted for… another ad break!
After the ad break Sharlene says she’s like Lara – she’s out to get Joe and Damien for putting Nathaniel up for elimination. She’s angry as hell. But she’s voted Nathaniel as well. He seems a little sad but he understands why.
He says Damien and Joe are brothers, he’s only their nephew. The other people at the table? They’re his family.
Leigh says to him that when he walks out of here today he can hold his head high and know he’s a man.
With the clear implication that Damien and Joe are anything but!
Nathaniel’s lost 36.7kg. Sharlene’s amazed. Nathaniel says he’s got so much more confidence in himself now and he can’t wait to get out and enjoy life!
Nathaniel’s going to quit his job when he gets out (works at KFC, I believe) and find a new job. And he’ll be putting his Mum and Dad on a diet as well. Good for him!
Nathaniel is bid adieu but he has a smile on his face as he rises from the table. And he gets a hug from Kellie and the others.
Nathaniel’s really proud of all the things he’s done that he never thought he would’ve before. He says the most fun of all was the obstacle course.
Wednesday night… nobody is happy with Joe. Again. I think even Michelle might be pissed with them this time. God I hope so.
