TBL 6×28: Sawing Logs and Logging Sores

Previously on The Biggest Loser there was a great big saw-off at The Contest.

Tonight we find out if Lara or Damien will emerge victorious.
Also, Sarah’s going to have another dummy spit in training. Will it be random or at the hands of her sisters or trainer?
Later the week’s Challenge kicks off. An epic obstacle course with the winner getting to choose one member of the losing team to send home. Yikes!

As we pick up the proper part of the episode Lara is putting her piece of log on the scales to get Hayley’s verdict. Can her first effort be good enough?

3233g for her first attempt. Needs to be a bit more!

Damien’s got his second piece lopped off now. Damien’s arm and hand are killing him, he says, so he hopes this is it.
But it’s not, 3500g or thereabouts.

Lara’s trying to get through her second piece before Damien can get a third piece chopped to size. It’s going to be pretty close. Lara’s very close but Damien manages to get there first.

Damien’s new bit of log is 3955g! So he’s won, hooray! They can stop sawing!

Lara just looks relieved to be finished! They both hug afterwards, awww.

Damien’s won the Contest for his team and now has power in the Challenge of some kind.
We have to wait until Challenge day to find out what the power is. Booo, that’s mean Hayley!

Leigh’s very nervous since the Challenors have the power, and, well, they’re not best of friends, are they?

Trainers wander in to the lounge after the Contest. Mish is very pleased Damien won the Contest. Ordinarily he has to sit out because he physically can’t do it and this time he not only took part, he won.

The trainers are then told that one of the contestants will definitely be going home after the Challenge today.

Shannan’s got his people out on the paradeground to train. Their strongest competitors are themselves, Shannan tells them. The Challenors having power in the Challenge doesn’t matter!

Shannan has them doing one rep circuit first up, timing each of them as they go. Then they go up to two reps, then three, then four, then five.
Lara powers through the workout, as usual. Then Shannan asks her what her Mum would say if she saw Lara today and Lara says she’d be proud. Awww!

But Shannan knows there’s still something holding her back. Apparently their relationship had suffered from… something or other? Oh, I see, Lara was unhappy with the way she was starting to look and her Mum noticed and Lara kept pushing her away.
Lara got homesick last night and really wanted a hug from her Mum.
Shannan says it’s a bit tougher for her since she’s the only one without any other family in the house – she’s not yet a Westren, after all. Just Leigh’s girlfriend.

Lara’s got a big bandage on her right hand, presumably a result of The Contest. Probably has massive blisters after the epic sawing!

Shannan’s hoping they’ll all still be together after the Challenge. But he does a “Blue for Life!” with them at the end. Hooray!

Meg has Tiffiny in tow before their training session to go and have a chat about Meg’s dream outfit. Her dream outfit is her mining uniform. She needs to be fitter and more active to move up the ladder at work.
Tiff says the mining uniform is so different to all the other girls who have dresses and other skimpy things. And Meg says that’s why she brought Tiffiny there – she wants to change her dream outfit to a dress!
Tiff is very surprised but very pleased that Meg’s now seeing that the change really is possible.
Meg says it’s partly because of the changes in her at Camp – she still loves mining, it’s still what she wants to do. And Tiff says that mining’s what she does, not who she is. She can still advance in her career, but she can do it as a chick!

Tiffiny’s words, not mine!

Tiffiny then asks Meg what kind of dress? What colour? Meg doesn’t know. Tiffiny bounces and asks if they get to go shopping! Oh, Tiff!

Steve’s got his gang on the treadmills. First minute, 7km/hr. Second minute 8km/hr. Third minute 9km/hr. Ending with the fifth minute at 11km/hr. Sarah’s pulling faces right from the get-go.
And she tells Steve she’s worried she’ll go flying off the back. Steve says if that happens they start again. If anyone steps off to the side, they start again.

30 seconds, bring it up to 10km/hr. Sarah lets out a loud grunt. Which is surely going to help!
Jodie tells Sarah she can do it, just focus on a spot. They don’t want to have to start over!

Steve’s telling her to relax and breathe, she can do it. Time to bump it up to 10km.
“I CAAAAAAAAN’T, I CAN’T.” Steve says she can but Sarah’s already hopping off.
Steve asks her what he said about the can’t word.
Sarah’s not listening though, she’s screaming about not being as fit as the other girls and flailing around. “I FIND IT HARD.” Yeah, exercise isn’t meant to be easy you dolt.

Steve says this fire is what he wants to see. Start it up again!
So they start again.

Sarah then has an aside to tell us she can’t run at those speeds just yet. In time, yes. But not yet. And it frustrates her that she can’t. And yet she’s not even trying now…

Sarah screams at Steve that she doesn’t want the other girls to have to keep restarting because she “can’t” do it.
Steve says to us that Sarah’s getting so angry because her weaknesses are being pointed out.

Steve says to them that they fail at the margins of their experience. If you’re not good at it, it’s a weakness and it’s something you should work on. You don’t just do the things you’re good at because that’s a cop out.

Sarah’s still objecting to the girls being held accountable for her failures. Rebecca? I think? Says that they’re a team and Steve says she’s right!

Then we get a flashback to Sarah having a cry back at the start when Steve was spending a week with the girls. Steve reminds Sarah that she promised she’d do whatever it took to lose the weight.
Sarah keeps going, she says to us, just to walk out of the training room alive.

After training Sarah’s still bitching and moaning, saying she’s holding her team back and the girls say she’s not giving herself enough credit.
Sarah is still saying she can’t do it. But Rebecca’s got the right idea. Points out to Sarah that six weeks ago they couldn’t’ve done what they did today and just think where they’ll be in another six weeks!

Cataract Scout Park!

Wait, sorry, they’re heading off to The Challenge in their shiny coloured cars and they walk in through the gates of Cataract Scout Park.

As they get to a tarred clearing in the forest someone pops some red smoke and they can hear a chopper coming in over the trees. THE CHOPPER. GET TO IT.

Who’s in the chopper? Who’s so special to justify a chopper ride to the location of the challenge?

Oh. It’s just Hayley. Yeah, that’s not ridiculous at all.

Hayley arrives, says hello, then reminds everyone that there’ll be someone eliminated today. Perhaps they’ll get a ride in the chopper? That’d be cool!

Hayley tells them about the obstacle course. And the family to complete it in the fastest time, wins. They then get to eliminate someone from the family that takes the longest to complete the Challenge.

Since it’s an elimination challenge and Meg has immunity, she won’t have to take part.

Due to injury Damien, Jodie and Sharlene will not be able to take part.
So Moons will have to choose two of their members to take part and they select Kellie and Rebecca. See, even they know Sarah’s the weak link in their family.

And now for The Challenors power from The Contest – they get one minute taken off their final time.

Each team will start five minutes apart. Westrens first, Challenors second, Moons last.

Oh, and one more thing. They’ll do the challenge tied together.

Nathaniel’s not overly pleased at that news since Joe’s not his favourite person in the world…

Leigh and Lara get hooked up and Leigh says this is married life. Stuck with each other.
Lara says to Leigh that they’ve got to get through it, she doesn’t want one of them to be going home.

The very first obstacle is a cargo net to clamber up and over, then they’re off for a jog where they find some monkey bars over a muddy puddle.
Leigh supports Lara’s legs as she crosses then they turn around and Lara supports Leigh as he crosses. Seems that’s within the rules as nobody objects. Will anybody else think of it?

Joe and Nathaniel get over the cargo net in about the same time as Lara and Leigh.
But then it’s monkeybars time. Nathaniel and Joe try to do it themselves first but Nathaniel keeps slipping off. Then Joe suggests Nathaniel hold his legs up and then he’ll do the same for the second run. They set that plan into motion and finish in good time.

Rebecca’s confident in their ability to do this as they’re both used to doing this sort of thing with The Commando.
They get to the top of the cargo net and then get stuck there, unable to get themselves over the top. Oh dear!

Lara and Leigh get to some pipes that have to crawl through and Lara tells us she’s claustrophobic so crawling through the pipes was less than fun. But, like everything else at Camp, she pushes through and gets it done.

Joe’s then telling us he was worried how they’d go against the Black Team since this is Commando territory!

Cut to Rebecca and Kellie still stuck atop the cargo net…

After another ad break Rebecca finally works out how to do it and then Kellie’s turn comes up and she finally gets a leg over the top and starts clambering down the side while the two scout dudes watch on in horror.

Westrens finished the cargo net in 51 seconds. Challenors in 55 seconds.

The Moons took six minutes and two seconds.

Guess one of them will be going home on Sunday!

Leigh’s got a bit of a fear of heights, he says, as they approach a log climbing hill thing. But he’s up and over it without any dramas.

Joe and Nate get to the crawly pipes which is causing a bit of trouble for Nathaniel in particular as he’s still a pretty pudgy lad. But, again, they push through it quite well.

Now it’s Kellie and Rebecca’s turn on the monkeybars. The water in the puddle underneath had been sitting still so long some of the silt has settled down and the water’s looking a bit cleaner… Until both inevitably fall in it, over and over.
Neither of them get more than one or two bars across before falling down which is woeful. They’ve eventually failed five times, Kellie says, which I guess means they’re allowed to move on? Not sure.

Leigh’s surprised at how well they’re doing together. They have to cross two balance beams together so they hold hands as they cross and that made Leigh think of Beyonce’s song… if you like it then you should put a ring on it. “Oh oh ohhhh.” He says, while doing a little jiggle.
Leigh says the obstacles all feel very easy for them, being together as they are. Awwww!

Meanwhile Kellie and Rebecca still can’t get past the monkeybars. Falling into the water over and over and over. They finally “finish” at 11 minutes 55 seconds. Appalling.

Joe and Nate get to the log climbing bit and Joe’s telling us that Nate’s leadership today was fantastic. Nate says it was Sam’s influence last week that’s got him turned around and got him on track.
Joe’s very proud of Nate. Awww!

Joe and Nate get to the ropes they have to swing across over some water. Leigh and Lara did a little better on that one but the boys didn’t dither about as much, either.

Rebecca and Kellie get to the pipes. Rebecca’s in tears at the thought of trying to go up the pipe. There’s a hole at the end, Kellie says to her, she’ll be fine. Kellie will boost her up and she’ll be halfway up already!
“What’s that noise?” There’s no noise, it’s just a pipe! Kellie tells her the pipe doesn’t even have water in it, she can do it!
Kellie’s never seen Rebecca in such a state but there’s a lot riding on today…

Time’s ticking away, Kellie tells us. After an ad break.
Do it for her boys! And then Rebecca finally gets into the pipe. And manages to worm her way up the first section of pipe and into the second, crying all the way, but she gets it done!
They must be an impossible amount behind by now though…

Lara and Leigh then get to another pair of pipes to crawl through. Leigh asks the scouts on duty which one has the deeper water in it and then lines up for that one to spare poor claustrophobic Lara.
This pipe is a lot longer, Lara tells us. And about half full of water. Creeeepy!

Lara gets through her pipe faster than Leigh, but Leigh’s just about swimming through his pipe so you can hardly blame the lad!

Then cue a montage of contestants overcoming more obstacles. Slowly, in The Moons case. Pretty sure they’re stuffed when they get to the water pipe!

Leigh and Lara get to the final obstacle – a flying fox to the finish line.
Lara asks Leigh to wait for her so they could do it together. They’d had so much fun in the Challenge and they wanted to finish it together.

They get down the flying fox and then sprint to the finish line, with much cheering from Sharlene and Meg. Awww!

Joe and Nate get to the pipe crawl and Joe’s doing it tough. He’s a bit of a claustrophobe too, it seems. So it being full of water isn’t helping. Joe’s waiting for Nathaniel to finish before going through, not really thinking about the time…

Sunday night, Red and Black continue obstacling!
And the winning team will have one minute to decide who they’re going to send home.

Won’t be Meg. Or Nate. Or Sharlene. Or Rebecca. They’re all at the weigh-in!
And the weigh-in will really be between Red, Black and Blue, since Meg’s also safe there.
Two eliminations, one night. Will either be lots of fun or lots of sad. Place your bets!
